Silly idea…I never prune it cause it reminds me of all the older people who use to come onto xanga.
Yup, all the time.
Sometimes.
i do that frequently actually.
Hm. I was all ready to write “no, not at all” and I see everyone saying yes.. maybe it’s something I should do. Usually I just scan the feed I have to find people I know, sometimes I’ll click on an unfamiliar name and enjoy reading something new. I’ve never really gone through my friends and done that.
Not anymore… Just let the ones not very active sit there til I get around to reading there post, or they prune me. Life is too short to worry about the ones who aren’t paying attention to you.
yup, couple of times every year.
no.
I prune my Facebook all the time.
on Xanga no, most of my friends here are inactive accounts – but their profile pics make me nostalgic
Not on Xanga, but I do it a lot on Facebook.
no (: bc someday they will come again to contact me.lol
I only prune the ones who piss me off.
On Facebook, definitely. On Xanga, nope. I like to read other people’s blogs and give em my feedback.
There’s only one reason why I would prune your ass – if you send me multiple mass messages requesting that I read your blogs or that you updated. Like I care? It’s just annoying.
once every couple of months.
On Facebook, yeah, but not here.
EDIT: Well, if you’re really annoying then I’ll end your ass. Otherwise, meh.
nope
I just delete and start a new one.The friends I had that knew me well enough and care seem to find me.
Thanks for reminding me Dan. I need to prune you right now. Goodbye!
I’ve only ever deleted a few people and it’s because they were being jerks. Besides that, I never defriend anyone.
Not really. I thought comments, footprints, and all those stalkerish things were good on Xanga.
Nope.
not really….people come and go here.
I haven’t on here but I need to. I do on Facebook all the time. I went from 84 friends one night to 46 friends in the matter of a minute.
No because sometimes absentee people usually come back. You can never have a lack of friends…
No. I don’t really mind. Some people don’t come on Xanga often, but when they come back I don’t want them to not be able to see my blog.
I just had a thought. You must have over a million credits, what do you do with them?
no
All the time..but I do it mostly on facebook..
No. I only delete someone if they annoy me.
just the mass-messengers!
No
I don’t really “prune” my friends list, but I do delete those who consistently put out or rec stuff that leaves me feeling slimed when I look at my inbox. I don’t dig it when all I see in my inbox is stuff about peoples’ private parts, sex lives, stuff like that.
yes, because then my universal inbox becomes a whole lot more interesting when its filled with people I like or people who interest me!
I am way too lazy. I just sub to everyone. It’s fun. If I’m not drowning in my Universal Inbox, I’m BORRRRED
no
no need to because I’m selective on who I add/accept to begin with. I hate it when some people on my list in the past threatened to delete people and set a deadline to leave a certain amount of comments on their blog or else they’ll delete you, so I go ahead and delete those people first because they just want attention. I don’t tolerate threats friendly people only
I’m doing it now, in fact. I just unsubbed 9 Xangans whose usernames started with A or B. Amazing how the numbers pile up.
Not on here, but I do go around and edit who I’m subscribed to quite often, just to keep the numbers down. I delete my friends on Facebook occasionally, though.
If I had as many friends as it appears most people have, then maybe I would. But then, I’m not one of those who go around trying to get as many friends as possible either.
Not unless they are being jerks or blatantly antagonistic; besides isn’t it kind of like writing a book or an article and then not wanting anyone but your friends and family to read it? on sites like this I come to find new people to communicate with anyway.
Nope, no pruning here but I do cut away the dead limbs on FaceBook very often. Here I just WISH a few of my old friends would come back but they never do. They have pruned themselves.
It’s a good thing to do evey once in awhile.
Every so often. This reminds, I need to excute a pruning on FB… I’ve “friended” people that I thought were friends of friends for Farmville (which I rarely play anymore anyway) and they turned out just to be random lurkers instead… *shrug*
Not yet, but I think about it from time to time. I have removed a handful people who annoyed me with constant mass messages, but that’s as far as I’ve gone so far.
i always feel like i ought to do it on facebook but i am pathetic and have no friends on xanga yet! xD
it’s effort though. i’m not sure it’s worth the hassle…
no, but i do prune my subscriptions.
I don’t even know what does ‘to prune your friends’ mean. -_-”
Sometimes.
Naaaahhhhh… I don’t have many friends to “prune.”
If I “pruned” my list like that? There would be no one left on it.
no. I only do that on facebook.
i never prune… i may 86 someone for spam etc
I did on my old xanga. I just returned and made a new one, so I don’t have many friends to prune anyway.
Xanga, nah. I don’t have a ton of friends cluttering up my news feed or anything. I’ve only removed friends a few times and it wasn’t due to cleaning up, it was because I couldn’t stand seeing their blogs anymore.
Facebook on the other hand, I’ve done that a lot. Sometimes I accept friend requests and the person NEVER TALKS TO ME, even if I say something to them. It’s like wtf, seriously? Why am I here then? lol. I recently cut my list in half deleting people I had added solely for gaming as I don’t play games on there anymore.
Not on Xanga, but I do occassionally on Myspace & Facebook.
I’m new here, so no need for pruning for awhile.
I prune my subscriptions list every now and then. But I let my friends list grow as it will even if I don’t know most people, just to have more opportunities to discover interesting posts.
No. I only friend people that I’d like to actually read, and none of them have annoyed me enough that I’ve changed my mind. Then again, I also don’t friend or accept friend requests from everyone under the sun. If it looks like someone’s not going to be an interesting read, I don’t friend them to begin with. So I see no need to add and then delete people: I just don’t add them.
Every so often I get rid of people who don’t read my blogs. If they want to be friends they should at least be willing to read one blog right?
yup, and sometimes I delete people because, fuck em’.
Usually no..only if they do something to irk me (like repeatedly send mass messages, be offensive, etc). Other than that..I like reading a diverse variety of blogs so I keep it as is.. =)
Well, I delete people from my subscriptions if I find their posts annoying or if they timestamp a lot or something. I don’t usually delete them from my friends though because I don’t really care.
Not yet, since I have barely begun “social networking”. I have seen a real-world friend say this on a Facebook account, but did not ask how it went.
Yes, but never the ones who I used to have good relationships with. I guess I hope they’ll become active again. Otherwise, I take care of my friend list more than my subscription list. I find it is a better way to get updates on people I care about that that subscription update thing….between comments, recs, and foolishness, it takes me forever to get through two pages and I feel like I waste ,my time (and we all know how precious that is, lol).
not unless they are jerks. Several time’s I’ve been pruned as soon as I disagree with some people about something. Some people it’s like if you don’t agree with everything they say that’s it for you pal!
Yes, I started with you.
You betrayed my trust and my secret, and I will never ever forgive you. You don’t even know what my race is, do you? You didn’t even know that I am a Muslim.
That’s the difference between me and reckless_eagle.
why to people “friend” so fanatically in the first place? it’s like internet promiscuity.
“i’ll plant a zillion tree saplings, and if they don’t grow in a year, i’ll cut a bunch down”?or maybe it’s like internet natural selection. survival of the fittest. invitro pregnancy; plant a bunch, and weed out the poorest prospectshey, i’m just full of optimism and cheer
I don’t really delete, except if they are rude/inconsiderate/piss me off…
But I delete from FB all the time.
I don’t add those type of people in the first place.
Nope, I do try to go through it once in a while and visit everyone on it one by one. I haven’t done that in quite a while but I hope to do it for New Years.
@lilabear - I don’t blame you for the facebook deletions, facebook is not as personable as Xanga… More like how many friends can I get with the facebook thing.
Yup I do it regularly, both here and on Facebook. And when I had a myspace I did it there too. I just figure there’s no point keeping people on my list who don’t bother to talk to me or who I don’t bother to talk to anymore. Actually, now I’m extra careful about who I add in the first place, so that I don’t end up with tons of pruning to do later.
I have only done it once on Facebook. It took awhile. I am not going to do it again. It is a waste of time, I don’t worry about the people that don’t pay attention to me. They can “prune” me if they want. I really don’t care.
On facebook, yes. I don’t add friends on here.

I am flatered by anyone that wants to be my friend. Of course, there are people that just want to increase their friend count on whatever social network they are on….But I don’t delete people unless they say something that I am offended by….
