However, after reading the article, the woman does say that this “developmental gymnastics” (or something like that) is common where she is from, that the babies laugh during it (I’ve yet to see a baby laugh while it was being hurt), and the babies who have been through it are perfectly healthy and some may be better off because of it. So maybe she’s being more careful than we think she is and it’s just another way to help the child develop better.

It’s a different culture and until we know it hurts the child, I can’t pass judgement. We probably do things to our children they don’t understand as well.

@ohletitbe - I have a feeling this isn’t done until the infant is strong enough to support itself. I have the gut feeling of wanting to take the baby away as well but she says this has been going on in her village for 30 years and that she used it on her 2 daughters. I really think it may be something we may just not be aware enough about. Or it could be dangerous and someone needs to investigate. If that’s the case, I’m all for someone to stop her and anyone else doing this. But there isn’t much I can tell from a video and from having lived outside of their culture. It was really just my second thoughts which is why I didn’t reply to anyone.
