This morning I was pulling up to work and I was playing a Michael Jackson song and it was loud enough for a guy to hear. He said, “So you like Michael Jackson?”
What musician or song do you like that you are ashamed of?
Hm How embarrassing to admit but…I have two of Taylor Swift’s albums.
I rather enjoy Taylor Swift’s songs. I’m not too embarrassed to say it, but still.
I have a few Backstreet Boys songs on my iPod, and 3 Hilary Duff Songs…maybe someday I’ll make an “Embarrassed I Actually Like This” playlist.
Why are you ashamed of Michael Jackson? He’s awesome!!
I don’t really have one I’m ashamed of. Of course I listen to Britney Spears, Nsync, and Will Smith on a daily basis.. lol
“I’m a Little Teapot”
Lady Gaga. x___x; But I like one of her songs. I just like ‘Bad Romance’
lol it’s so embarrassing when people find out! haha my guilty pleasure has to be Nicki Minaj
I’m not ashamed of any of the stuff I listen to. 8D
Also, why would someone be ashamed of listening to Michael Jackson? :C
I wish I could get Ke$ha out of my head… nothing to the songs but stupid catchy.
@TheGiantSlayer - Obscure choice but there is something nice about their sound.
Hmm, I’m not really ashamed of much of my music. I guess I’d have to say that there are a few country songs I enjoy that shame me because they imply hick-ness. But I don’t own them.
Paris Hilton
katy perry. it’s those lazer shooting boobs, i tell ya.
Nothing. If someone doesn’t like my music it is their problem, not mine. The only stuff I do not like is most of the rap songs I have ever heard. But I have over 4400 songs in my ipod, from classical to gospel and everything in between. I dearly love music and am not ashamed of that fact. As a matter of fact, it usually irks me when anyone presumes to have the right to shame me for anything. If I think something, anything, is worth doing, I will have already decided that it is not worthy of shame.
Michael Jackson is awesome! He was a scary dude, but he had talent. I sometimes listen to Lady Gaga. And Taylor Swift. Hanging head in shame.
Vanilla Ice – Ice Ice Baby, Spice Girls – Say You’ll Be There, Backstreet Boys – Love Is All I Have To Give (i’m not sure if that’s what it’s called), Jojo – Leave (i’m not sure that’s what it’s called), Christina Aguilera – So Emotional, Britney Spears- Anticipating, N’Sync – you’re all I ever wanted, Markie Mark – Good Vibrations, Leona Lewis- Bleeding Love, Sara Bareilles – Love Song…….there’s probably a lot more. There’s probably other songs that I like that I should be embarrassed about but I’m not.
i still barbie girl on my ipod haha. and all the old school britney spears and backstreet boys and nsync. i’m really not embarrassed of my music though; i think it makes me fun and quirky to keep all the old goodies and jam to them regularly. (:
lady gaga, i don’t really like her music but there are a few songs i can get into… and a part of me doesn’t want to believe that i can enjoy her.
I’m such a lady, but I’m dancing like a ho. Fergie.
Avenue D
It’s not that I’m embarrassed exactly, but I love Soul Coughing and so much of their music is So Weird that I wouldn’t want anyone else listening to it with me because I know they would judge.
I still love the Carpenters. Really.
Wide Spread Panic
@godfatherofgreenbay - Paris Hilton should team up with Shaq to create the worst song ever!
“The Worst Song Ever” by Paris Hilton and Shaq
@Rob_of_the_Sky - Oh I completely forgot Shaq had a music career. Maybe I’m trying to push that deep inside my subconscious. Too bad my copy of Shaq Diesel is staring at me.
@godfatherofgreenbay - Shaq also had a movie career and a video game career, and they were just as bad as him music career. He should’ve just stuck with basketball.
@Rob_of_the_Sky - I had a neighbor who had Shaq-Fu. It was awful. I vaguely remember a code to turn on blood. I think you just pressed up and start at the title screen.
More like embarrassed but, George Michael…..
I regularly listen to *Nsync and I’m not at all ashamed of it. They’ve gotten me through some pretty tough times.. so I love them and still anxiously await a reunion tour! I’d buy tickets soooo fast!!
But I think the answer to this question would be Dashboard Confessional. Of course, I totally love the music but it’s so emo and just “whoa is me…” that I feel awkward when I’m playing it when anyone else is around. @TheGiantSlayer - “kiss me”? That’s the song, right… no worries, it was a pretty big hit. The movie was awesome too.. yep, I said it! @Ro_ad808 - Little known fact… Ke$ha has a song she did before she was the hot mess she is today and it’s actually pretty great. Sure, it’s a little pitchy in places but I think that’s part of why it’s so great.. it’s just raw and unplugged and I love it! It’s called “goodbye” if you wanna check it out
I’m not ashamed of anything I listen to. If someone gives me lip about something they don’t like about my tastes; I’ll emphasize it for them (unless they’re genuinely polite about it).
I think I have a few ” embarrassing ” things… I don’t really get embarrassed over music on my ipod. My music is really random and all over the place , but so am I ..I think a good song is a good song no matter what.. And even if a song isn’t good you gotta admit somethings are just catchy even if they lyrically suck.
Apart from on Xanga i’m pretty embarressed by being a total Avril Lavigne fan, also Benny Bennassi i quite like but never think i should
lol, I like some of Taylor Swift’s first songs. I like some of Natasha Beddingfield’s stuff.
@brittany_7x - I am forever haunted from that song after my at the time 8 year old niece would play and sing to Barbie Girl a million times over on road trips.
Fruit Salad by the Wiggles
If you really want to blush, add the first song on my Ipod…Puff The Magic Dragon by Peter Paul and Mary. Now THAT’S pitiful, but I love it for personal reasons.
Hey! I’m definitely down with that Mountain Gal South on this one! And how could anyone be ashamed of loving Karen Carpenter!
Kylie Minogue…..cheesy songs but they always pop in my head!!! Coming from a rock lovin chick, that’s like a bad confession!
You have no reason to be ashamed of listening to MJ. In fact, that man should be ashamed for making you feel ashamed.
I’m not ashamed of any of my music. I have some retarded crap on my ipod, but if I like it I like it. No one else’s busniess.
I’m too embarrassed to say. Actually, I finally posted a new blog and I’m shamelessly cruising around trying to drive traffic to my site. And why are you embarrassed about liking Michael Jackson’s music? Susan Boyle maybe…
I wanna sex you up- color me badd.
Or, White Flag by Dido.
Gosh, it’s a tie between Sixpence None The Richer and The Backstreet Boys. I don’t think I’m ashamed, though. When people say anything negative about it, I tell them to shut it and enjoy.
iYiYi- Cody Simpson The title is embarrassing enough. But I like it as a workout song, not anything else because the lyrics make me face-palm xo’
Phil Collins
Pussy Cat Dolls.
There is nothing shameful about liking Michael Jackson’s music. It’s not as embarrassing as liking Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga or some other flavor of the month. Jackson was a genius of entertainment and his music is respected worldwide in some cases after 30 years.
…Backstreet Boys… :/
Paris Hilton – very ashamed though Michael Jackson isn’t someone to be ashamed of
I’m pretty damned ashamed of liking Dashboard Confessional. He’s just so dreamy and actually writes good vocal qualities.
Lately I’ve been listening to Kanye West. I hate Kanye West, but apparently not *all* of Kanye West. I think I like it in the same way that I like Ke$ha when I’m completely wasted.
I have a soft spot for a few Spice Girls songs…they take me back to my younger days.
I have a pretty wide variety in my musical taste, but I don’t think I’m embarrassed about any of it.
@SpokenThruScott - i used to dance around to this song all the time when i was little. i had it on repeat constantly. i think my mom wanted to kick me out of the house for playing it so often.
@nattata - Oh wow, I’ll have to be completely honest here…I can’t read.

I’m never ashamed of what I’m playing, although I do turn the volume down at stoplights as a courtesy to other drivers. I gladly sing along to great songs, and don’t care if other drivers see me. I even had a carload of people join at while singing along to The Safety Dance once. Music crosses all boundaries!
Musical guilty pleasure? Mm, hard to say, I feel a lot of what I listen to is super dorky anyway. -_- Sshhhh.
Jessica Simpson. “I Wanna Love You Forever.” Too dramatic, sentimental. And Jessica sounds like she’s struggling to reach the highest notes. But, um…I really like it.
not ashamed of MJ. but i am a little embarrassed about BSB.

Disco. No artist in particular, just disco.
You make me feel…mighty real~
I also like a couple songs from Lady Gaga, but I don’t like her, nor acknowledge her as an artist.
It has to be Limp Bizkit. I know what a tool Fred Durst is, I know how his songs are mostly rip offs, but dammit if I don’t get happy everytime one of their songs come on. Shit!
I have a song by Keke Palmer on my mp3 player, and I normally don’t listen to that style of music at all! Taylor Swift and Will Smith are also guilty pleasures! Oh and Natasha Bedingfield lol.
Not embarrassed that I like Micheal jackson, but I think it trips people out when I play ABBA because I’m generally a death metal person.
