How Do You Browse Xanga?
I always read as people complain on xanga that other people play music on their site. Apparently it annoys people.
It is funny but I never browse xanga with my volume on so I can never hear the songs playing.
Do you browse xanga with your volume on?

Most of the time – no. I made my page play music only when the reader presses the button.

Yes I browse with my volume on, because I’m usually watching TV or listening to my own music. I never really understood music players on blogs. I’m probably not going to be on your blog for the length of a song and if I am I should hope I’d be reading.
depends on my mood and if i care. you never know when you may hear something you like, or something that may inspire or perk your interest.

Yeah I think I have a short attention span so I’m usually watching a movie or listening to music while I browse. I don’t really mind automatic music, their page, their thing, but sometimes when it’s loud it hurts my ears.

The majority of the time my sound is down anyway. But |’m noticing more people have a playlist on their site so might be worth listening to some of their choice of music!
I like to subscribe. I usually just go off of my subscription page, and only enter their site if I’m commenting.

Yes, but not very high. When there is music on a blog, or when the blog itself is a musical, it gives me insight about the blogger. Wouldn’t want to miss that!!!!! And yes, sometimes the first impression is not positive But that’s true in the absence of music too, eh?

It’s VERY annoying! Especially when you’re browsing and forget the volume is on and it wakes the kids up.
haha! I don’t “browse” I just go to my friends’ sites to see if they have anything new, or go to the site of someone who has commented on my site (I’m friends-locked 90% of the time, so it’s a very small, limited group). Nobody plays music, and they are all nice. I am very particular about my friends in real life and here lol
I embedded a player on my page and made it invisible so you can’t pause it skip ahead or even see whats playing. I believe my choice in music reflects my personality, so I don’t really care if anybody finds it annoying. Also I read blogs through google reader and only have to go to peoples pages if I want to comment, so I have no idea if they have music playing, But I would unsub somebody if I didn’t like the music they had on there site, but not because I found it annoying.
@suggestivetongue - i have music on mine but i never remember that it’s there till someone mentions it.

Yes, but only because I don’t like messing with the settings on my laptop. The few sites I’ve encountered with music hasn’t bothered me. If I really don’t like the song, it’s no big deal to turn the volume down. I think it’s kind of neat to hear the music, but only because I don’t know how to add it to my own site.
Yeah. I find it interesting to see what kinds of music other people like.
I browse Xanga wearing nothing but a smile and yarmulke.
I can’t read when music is playing so I never have any on when I’m browsing Xanga. I might have my volume on if I was listening to something beforehand, so If I go to someone’s site and they have music and my volume is still on, I’ll just turn it off.

My volume is always off. I learned this when I had a MySpace and I didn’t want to listen to anyone’s crappy music.

I’ve had it on a few times, although now i know to keep it off/low if i’m checking out people’s site. And there music doesn’t bug me myself, Its the fact that i’m listing to my music, and then having some song i dislike come on from a clicking a person’s site, and having there playlist overlapping mine. It just sounds like a mess. >.>;

I usually start off with the volume on, but then I find a site with autoplay music, and hit mute.
It only bothers me because I’m usually listening to my music and it just sounds awful with two songs playing at the same time. I end up getting irritated and turning off the volume all together.

I do. If I come across a blog with music playing, I close it immediately. It’s one of the most annoying things about Xanga.
Only if I have iTunes playing. In which case it is incredibly annoying when someone has a song playing.
Usually I just listen to my iPod and put my computer on mute.

Yes, because a lot of the time I’m listening to my own play list. When I go to someone’s profile is when I run into other play lists playing. Both playlists play at the same time. The result is extreme cacaphony. You won’t get that if you go to my site because setting your playlist to autoplay is a choice I don’t choose simply because I know how annoying that can be.

I like it. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to listen to more music and learn about new artists.I like the old tunes, too. I usually have NPR classical or jazz on my computer when I’m working in my studio so my speakers are always on.. I am so happy that I discovered that I can do that NPR thingy.
I have music on my page, but people can pause it. I hate when its embedded so if you are listening to your own music, you have to pause it or it sounds like chaotic noise.
I usually have the volume on because I’m listening to my own music. And yes, music on peoples’ pages can be annoying. But I tend to be a bit of a music snob… :/
I love the fact that I have choices today and instead of sitting there complaining I have the choice to turn the volume off.
I’m new to Xanga and have only replied to about a dozen blogs so far; I always have my volume on and still have yet to hear any music being played. (I was unaware that you could even add music to your blog.

Would it bother me if someones music started playing when I looked at their blog? I wouldn’t say that it would BOTHER me, but I’d sure hope there was a pause button, because I’m pretty much always listening to my own music and would want to resume listening to whatever song that I had on.
And besides, it’s YOUR blog, so if you want to add music, then go for it, don’t worry about whether or not it bothers anybody.
I have music on my site. But when you go to a specific post, it doesn’t play. Only on my main site.
I think the music on my blog kind of.. adds more emotion to my writing, so i always change the music up once in a while when i blog about different things.
i browse xanga by clicking on posts like yours (a lot of comments) then clicking on the people that comment and that’s how i find the majority of my subs/friends.
people still put music on their blogs? it only annoys me when i can’t find the off button.

Kiddos I’m at a cafe full of stupid Ecuadordians!!!!!!! I”m so pissed off, and I want to comment, I’m so sorry for this, it’s not always easy to be neutral when I’m trying to concentrate here but all I hear is ugly voices of those damn cholos and cholas. Um.. music on xanga… I don’t have to worry about that, I’m usually on with my 4G T-MObile phone, and I can never hear any music, I don’t know if this is due to sites with no music, or my phone not picking on the music, watever, I don’t need music to read other people’s writings. I’m not very picky about music, and obviously I’m not very picky about writing, or else I would not be here!!! Um, after spending so much time on Xanga World, outside of this place, reading newspapers, other articles, books even, AND MORE EVEN probably other people’s conversation is becoming a lot less interesting. So I guess, I like this place for the range of orgy writings AND! I don’t care about trolls or bullies because I don’t have to visit their site if I don’t want to (crosses arms).
i enjoy seeing what people’s taste in music is, but about 99% of the time, i have itunes up and am listening to my own music. i like when people have their playlist at the very top of their page so i can control it and see it and if i want to listen to their music i will. a lot of people have their music at the bottom or some tiny little button somewhere and i can’t find it and i wanna turn it off.
