  • As Long As He is Not Black

I was reading a post where a woman mentioned her mother would prefer she marry an Asian man.

She also mentioned a conversation with her mother:  “Then I said… what if it is a white guy… and she said “uhh…. white guy???” And so I quickly said… “as long as he’s not black, right?!” And she said fine, as long as he’s not black.”  Here is the link:  Link

Would your parents be uncomfortable if you dated a black person?

  • Comment Envy

I was reading a site tonight and the person mentioned that it was disappointing to him that he wrote about a specific topic and then he noticed another blogger writing on the same topic and yet received more attention for the post.  (I would link this blogger but in a sad twist of fate, I can’t find his post).  Edit:  Here is his pulse:  Link

Does it bother you when someone writes on the same topic as you but gets more comments?

  • Death and Your Xanga Site

I think one of the greatest struggles we have yet to find a solution to is how to deal with death on social networks.

If someone dies in real life, we want closure.  We want to go visit them at a funeral.  We want to talk with others that are morning their loss.  But we don’t get that on xanga or any other social network.  I read that Facebook can set up a memorial of your site but people can’t comment on it.  Here is the link:  Link

But if you think about it, there is no closure.  There is no way to tell everyone we are dead.  This has some advantages because some people on xanga leave really nasty comments when people die.  They make fun of them and their family.

I think I would still want people to be able to comment on my passing.

I would want people to be able to say, “I <3ed Dan,”  “I thought Dan was dickish,” “robofthesky.”

I want a xanga memorial if I die.

  • I <3 Justin Bieber

I feel so sorry for this kid in the same way I felt sorry for Miley Cyrus.

If you think about it, they are just young kids who are famous.  And it feels like some people are just waiting for them to do wrong.  Who is a bad person?  Miley Cyrus?  For what?  Nothing.  The people that want these kids to fail are the people that are bad.

This Justin Bieber kid made a comment about abortion.  (He is a singer for those of you who are out of touch like me).

He said, “”I really don’t believe in abortion. I think [an embryo] is a human.  It’s like killing a baby.”  He was then asked about rape as it relates to abortion and he said, “That’s just really sad, but everything happens for a reason.”  Here is the link:  Link

So now the kids gets called “stupid” and a bunch of other names.  Why?  Because he took a pro-life position and then worded something the wrong way giving people the opportunity to interpret his words that maybe even rape happens for a reason.

The only thing he is guilty of is being a famous kid.  Can you really blame him for that?

  • How Do You Browse Xanga?

I always read as people complain on xanga that other people play music on their site.  Apparently it annoys people.

It is funny but I never browse xanga with my volume on so I can never hear the songs playing.

Do you browse xanga with your volume on?

  • Would You Pick It?

Let me give you a hypothetical.  Imagine you know there is a booger in your nose.  You know it is dried up and hard but it is just sitting there.

Now imagine there is no tissue available.  You look around and no one is around.

    Would you pick it?

  • Am I Dickish?

I received a private message from a lady who told me my behavior was “dickish.”

This caused me to stop and take a moment of self-reflection.  I then figured the woman was just pmsing and that I am really a warm and caring person.

Do you think I come across as dickish?

  • Sluts and Rape

A police officer is coming under fire for suggesting to students that women can “avoid sexual assault by not dressing like ‘sluts.’”  Here is the link:  Link

I am sure there are things a woman can wear that would increase the chance they get raped.

Do you think dressing like a slut gives a woman an increased chance of getting raped?

  • Keys to Identifying an Internet Fake

Every once in a while, we have a fake site that comes and spends time with us on xanga.

(The above person is not an Internet fake.  It is my wife.  Seriously).

Now I must admit I have been wrong a few times.  For example, one time I believed a cancer patient and she was a fake.  Another time I made fun of a fake death only to find out it was a real death.

But I think for the most part I have learned a few tricks to discovering fake people on xanga.

    1.  If a person gains 100-200 friends on xanga within their first 24 hours, typically it is run by someone who is already on the front page of xanga with another site.  Almost always these sites are run by at least two people.

    2.  If a fake site is discovered, typically you can go back to the first post the person gave and the answer to who is running the fake site can be seen in the first few comments or the first few people who recommended the post.  (In fact, this is almost always right).

    3.  Typically if she is really hot and she wants to be friends with ugly and old men, the site is really being run by a man or a fat woman.

    4.  If she is really hot and she is abrasive in her flirting style, she is typically a man.

    5.  If the person can’t produce a video proving he/she is real in 24 hours, the site is a fake.

    6.  If the person automatically comments on the 20 most popular bloggers in one hour of being on xanga, the person is a fake.
