I was raised in a non-Christian household. And when I considered the evidence in college, I didn’t find the evidence persuasive enough to justify belief.
Can’t say for certain about Christ, mais I know I was!
Damn, I thought I had the first comment.. no clue what Dan actually wrote lol
No.
Yes. In truth, it is about as documented and well-supported as any event in history can be.
No, not in the literal sense, but I don’t take anything in the Bible literally, I think there is a lot to learn through all biblical stories though.
Na. If anything someone just stole his body and did something vile with it. “Oh noez he is gone, the ONLY alternative solution must be that he went to heaven, And in his physical body for some reason”
He never DIED!
Yes. Anyone who doesn’t believe Jesus rose from the dead should at least be open minded enough to read Lee Strobel’s “The Case for Christ”. There are multitudes of evidence supporting that Jesus did indeed rise from the dead. “The Case for Christ” is an Atheist’s investigation of the resurrection which leads him to becoming a Christian. He was convinced from being a staunch Atheist to a Christian with just the evidence of the resurrection. If it is true that Jesus did die for the forgiveness of the sins of the world, and that, in order to have eternal life with a savior who loves you, you have to accept this gift of grace and have a personal relationship with God, then what would it hurt to investigate a little? It could only help. And at the very least, it will be an eye opener to Christian culture.
Yes.
Absolutely. I have no interest in following a religion based off a non-extraordinary, dead & decaying human being.
Nope, but I will be participating in a zombie movie marathon tomorrow.
I don’t know.
@pianomusicchick - I read Strobel’s A Case for a Creator, it was a horrible attempt at refuting evolution.
And I recycled my copy of A Case for Christ. While cleaning out old books, I almost tossed it before realizing that merely throwing it away would have been bad for the environment.
Absolutely. It wouldn’t make sense to follow a religion that had hundreds of witnesses and many different written accounts of the resurrection, many more than of any other historical event of that time period, for whom hundreds and thousands have martyred their lives since then for their belief in the truth of the resurrection. Either they were all crazy…which makes no sense, logically….or they were right.
No. Outside of the gospels, the historical evidence for the resurrection is non-existent. There’s no evidence that “hundreds” of people witnessed this resurrection, and there is no physical evidence of this tomb.
The most logical story I heard – and it was stated in first person, claiming to be Jesus himself (a channeled message) – his body didn’t resurrect but his consciousness stayed alive, he retained his identity as Christ.
Of course I have no proof. And I’m not a blind believer.
nah
Yes, indeed I do. His disciples wouldn’t have let themselves be martyred if they knew for a fact that He was a fraud.
Yes.
Nah
Absolutely.
“And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.”
Anyone who believes in sin but doesn’t believe in Jesus would still be out killing animals, wouldn’t they? Not that I disapprove; I just don’t hear about it at all anymore. I’ve never seen any practicing old testament believers, not even online.
Yep.
The illuminati does.
No. It was an elaborate hoax perpetrated by a few to deceive the many. And it’s still working to this day.
Yes, but he sure didn’t look anything like the illustration you used.
Yes I do believe He is risen. There is much evidence which has persuaded me.
I don’t know. but in these matters, I think it’s silly to do research and analysis on whether or not the event actually happened. besides this, I guess I just don’t get why everything in the world has to be scientifically proven and it annoys me.
but though I’m not a Christian, I certainly respect the holiday and I’m happy for those who celebrate it
Wait. Jesus is dead? I thought you were Jesus.
No.
Yes I do! And one day so will I!
nope.
No.
i take everything in the bible as just stories, real or maybe not, so it may have happened or maybe not
Yes. With all that I am I believe
yes!
yes in no doubt… because He is too real to be ignore in everyone’s testimonials.. including mine..
If Alice Cooper can be raised from the dead so can Jesus Christ.
It is interesting how people put so much weight on personal beliefs – as if those beliefs could effect the reality of what IS – (or is not).
What does God believe? Now THAT’s an interesting question!
No, I don’t believe Jesus was raised from the dead. But I do think he rose from the dead. Well, unless you are suggesting one of the apostles was picking him up off the ground and that was like some religious CPR that kick started Jesus’ heart or something.
Well, my Bible says that he was, so I guess he was.
no, that story is boring. I prefer the power ranger type of story of the monkey king; journey to the west, where the monkey and his two sidekicks battles demons and protects the monk because whoever captures the monk and eats him gets to be an immortal:D this jesus guy is a drama queen.
@pianomusicchick - I’ve read the Case for Christ, and it didn’t change my opinion one iota. The questions Strobel asks are softballs at best.
Hey theologian, your blog generally makes me puke. However, this is a good question. Hundreds of people were witness to Jesus resurrection, without the evidence of it I doubt they would have been willing to give their lives for their beliefs. Resurrection is not without precedent in the Bible, and its one thing NONE of the so called Christians can do today, regardless of their so called proof of “HOLY” spirit(i.e. speaking in languages they never learned),,which is belied by their works.I believe in Jesus, but im realistic and realize True Christians are in the minority today.Just because the paranormal is involved in a religion doesant prove its from the ONLY True God, the God of the Bible.Regarding the spurious last chapter of Mark in the King James, if they have this “Power” ,,why dont they come on over to my house and drink some bleach or battery acid for me, Scripture says they can drink poison, dont it?Liars.Page887.
Even the 1st century Romans didnt deny that people rose from the Dead in the Christian congregation.Page887.
Hundreds of people were witness to Jesus resurrection.@niceBrice -
yes
@my_final_username - Many thousands have witnessed flying saucers, too, I’m sure. I definitely agree with you on this, though: Theologian’s blog is often puke-worthy
I wonder how many people have even actually thought about or done any research on this issue. There are some really ignorant responses here. I’m not religious…but there are 3 facts concerning the Resurrection, that virtually every historical scholar (of any religion and including atheists) agree that are certainly true.
1. Jesus was a real person 2. Jesus’ tomb was found to be empty (by women). 3. Jesus’ disciples and many followers believed that they saw a resurrected Jesus.
On point 3, you can draw whatever logical inferences you want to……but whatever those are, one’s view on this topic must consider these 3 historical facts.
It’s impossible! Once you’re dead you’re dead. It must be just a figure of speech and now people believe it. Anything to make money i guess.
Nope. I don’t think believing that makes someone stupid though
In fact It was made clear by the prophets hundreds of years before Christ that he would come die and be risen from the tomb, for a way for all mankind to have a voice in heaven, for us to be heard by God, and for us to be acceptable to God. without this mankind is pretty much doomed. we have a eternal spirit which has to go somewhere when we die, our only representative has gone before us to give us the hope of eternal life. heaven will be much much more than anyone down here can Imagine and God made going there so simple as the scripture puts it , for god so loved the world that he gave his only son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but would have eternal life. over 500 people saw Jesus after he rose at the same time! the historians of the day were very acurate and as I have found if you sincerely ask Jesus to make Himself known to You He will. you may not get to see Him before you but things will happen to help you believe in Him . Soo the only way to be sure is to check it out , read one of the gospels( Matthew -John) in the new testament of a bible and ask Jesus if he is real to let you know! thats all…. Jesus will speak for Himself
Absolutely.
No. But I find it kind of odd that on the day when you, as a believer should be celebrating an event you believe to be the cornerstone of your whole faith you invite debate about it.
Historical evidence collaborating the resurrection is unfortunately lacking. The only records we have of the event, are the evangelical scriptures which was written decades after the resurrection. This was within a Greek and Roman context where the mythologies of Gods having children, who died and have risen was pertinent. The only possibility is to “belief” and rely on subjective experience that result from that belief since there is no hard evidence that can turn the event into fact. Scientific fact requires that the event must be repeatable by other scientist in order to verify the facts. Whether you belief of not is a personal choice and I respect all people for there freedom of choice.
Zombie Christ
@RaquelHiggins005 - I am wondering what you mean by yes, but maybe not literally?
Happy Easter to you and your family
Yes…I do…I am not so sure if it was in a physical sense but it definetly was in a spiritual sense.
He never DIED!
I think saying Jesus even lived/existed to begin with begs the question. Stories about him are clearly appropriated form pre-existing myths of the region, and most early historical sources speak about his followers rather than him. The strongest piece of evidence is probably what is recorded by Flavius Josephus (which was published six decades after Christ supposedly existed), which means the information is second hand at best, and that’s only on the basis that he is a reliable source. Pretty flimsy if you ask me. Would you believe in anything else on the word of just one reliable source several decades after an event happened? I certainly wouldn’t. So yeah, I haven’t even touched the question of “Did Jesus rise from the dead” yet, which there’s obviously less evidence of than what is said above. We can only rely on the gospels (bad move).
Jesus came back for brains.
yes
The Lord is risen this day glory alleluia
Can you imagine the power it took to rise from the dead? JESUS IS LORD
It’s nice to see Jesus at #1 on Top Blogs over “Getting Naked” and drunken fornication with frozen pizza.
It does not matter if you don’t think he rose from the dead. It does not matter that you reject his salvation. It does not matter that you scoff at those who believe in the risen lord. It does not matter that you think that Jesus was a phony.
But it will matter when you stand before the risen lord on the judgment day and give account of your life.
Jesus is LORD and that is all that counts so call me a zealot and a Jesus freak. It just happens to be true
NO.
yes!
Faith does not contradict Reason. Belief in the Resurrection of Jesus is based: FIRST, on the testimony of the Apostles, and other eyewitnesses. These people were very realistic down-to-earth types that saw Jesus after he rose, touched him, ate with him, and testified absolutely that Jesus was in his body (although obviously a marvelously reformed body). The Apostolic testimony got written down in the Gospels some few years later. So, the first group of believers were EYEWITNESSES, and the second group of believers were those who believed the testimony of the eyewitnesses. So, what do we have?
Something totally NORMAL – people believing what they saw and touched, and other people believing them. So that’s how it started. But, SECOND, – and this is where it gets to US – Jesus remains alive in the Eucharistic Bread. Yes, this is the final proof that Jesus is Resurrected…. It’s like the Earth being round….smart people surmised it was, some of Magellan’s crew made it all the way around, but the final proof was the pictures of the whole earth from space….same with the Resurrection. We have heard stories that Jesus did rise from dead; we have met people who swear to it; but UNLESS and UNTIL we run across him, we tend to balk at believing it. Well…here’s what to do….close your eyes and look into your dark room inside. You are in there, somewhere, everywhere, your soul. But you feel alone. The God who made you is in there too, but He remains SILENT. Faithful Catholics who receive the Eucharistic Body and Blood of the Resurrected Jesus become aware of another Presence within them – Jesus, alive, physically. So that when you read the words of Scripture they jump out at you, because they are the WORD OF GOD too, but with Jesus alive in you , they SPEAK because Jesus is the Eternal WORD. the more sensitive a person become to this presence inside one’s soul – and one’s body! – the more Jesus becomes apparent in the believer. Most of the comments I read were pathetic, sick, doomed. Come back to the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church and get fed the Bread of LIFE. (someone probably somewhere is praying for you. someone must have prayed for me.)
People think I’m ignorant, but yes, I do believe Jesus was raised from the dead. My existence is pretty meaningless if he didn’t; in my opinion, at least.
Absolutely
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - ooops..Did you mean fornicating or masturbating with frozen pizza? But I understand your stance.- :)
Yes. Anyone who doesn’t believe will regret it.
Yes. No question about it.
@Kristenmomof3 - as in yes I think he rose from the dead even though I am also open to the possibility that his body didn’t literally come from under the ground and rise like a ghost.
Yep.
yes
His mother and the other Mary were afraid when they found him not there but then they were told that the tomb is for the dead and he was alive so yes, I believe Jesus lives, he lives in my heart
Yep, I most certainly do!
No.
And I find it hilarious that lots of Christians don’t seem to realize that Mark 16:9-20 were added into the Bible way later.
Well, that and everything else in the Bible that’s hilarious / horrible that they just aren’t reading.
Also it’s extremely sad that people think that this stuff gives their lives meaning and without religion they wouldn’t have any purpose. Life is amazing without superstition and voodoo.
@jiazy_1 - You ask a superb question. Why don’t you go ask the offending party about that? But he used the slang word for fornication in his post.
Who knows what the real story is behind Jesus. Truth of the matter is, this whole story is a thought witten by his disciples to promote a religious idea and a following.. If you glorify it, it helps the cause.
Having said that, life in its mystery offers us clues that maybe there is some kind of order throughout the universe. I think our energies are best served in maybe meditating about that, than about a man who did magic tricks and spoke in ways that many people didn’t understand where he was coming from.
No offense to others. Thats just how I see it. More power to those that follow Jesus blindly. It serves to give them faith and a hope for a better afterlife
mas oui, mon ami
yes I do
I’m not sure that he ever existed.
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - Good answer/ question? But it’s already on a public forum visible to all…Happy Easter…
@GodlessLiberal - well, it wasn’t as compelling as the case for Krisco.
Without a doubt. Otherwise, I’d be wasting my life, wouldn’t I?
Yeah, I also believe in rabbits that poop chocolate eggs.
@Donkey_Guy_10 - God doesn’t have beliefs as we conditioned beings do. God IS Truth, or Light, All-knowing. Whatever He ‘believes’ or Knows, IS true. Not only does God know ALL Truth, He doesn’t need to believe IN anything, since HE IS what all seekers seek to believe in.
@boilingicicle - He certainly did resurrect but not physically. I think the great problem most people have in dealing with the resurrection, is what actually did resurrect? As the immortalized Jesus, he could not perish, but His body certainly did. And it’s because nobody has found any evidence of a decaying or destroyed body, that the resurrection concept became identified as a physical one. The body DIES. It cannot live forever and it is not immortal. Only the spiritualized mind or personality can live forever and is resurrected – hence there is resurrection – but for the personality, not for the material form. And this is why science will always find problems with a resurrection, as according to it, the self (or the visible, physical form rather), is dead.
@this…In essence, because the Laws or rather the Principles, and or the Guidelines in the Old testament were considered rather harsh and un realistic – (Adam & Eve – mankind were born out of sin), Christ was sent in the flesh by his father to technically re write the Laws, Guidelines, and or Principles of the old doctrine. Christ came in the flesh, (his helpers the 1 2 disciples, all referenced in the New Testament) and later he gave his life willingly so our sins may be forgiven. -.Hence, the birth of the New Testament - Wonder if anyone has actually seen gravity? Yet we believe in the Law of physics & gravity. BUT there are those among us who express difficulty believing in Christ’s resurrection. Well, believe or non belief - it is your God given RIGHT! However, I do believe that there is some force greater force – greater than gravity that governs and sustains my life, as well as this beautiful Universe. You may choose to believe it’s gravity; I firmly beleive it’s the Christ, & the Holy Spirit!
No.
@ashil333 - So my understanding here is that you do not believe in life after death, the Holy Spirit, and neither do you believe in the second coming of Christ? Just asking..
@jiazy_1 - Yeah the New Testament has some interesting passages in it about things that people are supposed to do. Like passages telling slaves to submit to their masters the way they would submit to Jesus so that the teachings of God seem more attractive (Titus 2:9-10, 1 Peter 2:18-21), telling women to submit to their husbands and call their husbands their master (1 Peter 3:1-7, Ephesians 5:22-24)
1 Corinthians 14:33-35 (New International Version)
33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.
34 Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.
The New Testament: Keepin’ it classy.
Also you ask if anyone has ever “seen” gravity. Nobody has “seen” air either, but these things can be proven to exist using science. Humans being resurrected from the dead is scientifically impossible.
Also – why would a loving God not just choose to forgive people’s sins rather than have to sacrifice his own son to himself in order for the sins of his imperfect creations to be forgiven?
Yes sir.
@thisiswhereItellyoueverything - So what’s so wrong with “wife submit to her husband?” That’s the reason why there are so many darn broken marriages…and confused children on the streets..You take it as technical or as literal as you like that is your perception. I view it differently. The word of God was re – written several time by man who set out to practice their evil, greedy, destructive, and vile ways. That is divided, conquer and destroy. However, in the book of Revelations the Christ warned against adding and subtracting from his written words….
@jiazy_1 - About adding and taking away from the written word: Mark 16:9-20 was added later. As were many other Biblical passages that can be uncovered with a quick Google search.
And as for submitting to the husband – are you seriously asking what’s wrong with that? What’s wrong with slaves submitting to their master then?
I don’t need my husband to be my master, I need my husband to be my partner and my ally. Why is it that the woman should “submit” to the man rather than the other way around? Are you seriously saying that the divorce rate is high because women don’t submit to their husbands? What’s your evidence for this?
@thisiswhereItellyoueverything - The gospel – Darn Google again…I do not dispute your argument…However, I was raised in a 2 different – opposing religions – went to church 2x each and every Sunday…Woke up every morning at 5 am to study the bible with the siblings and the parents so thank you! I do not rely on Google information to substantiate my stance. Sorry.
@jiazy_1 - I was simply pointing out that you can use Google to quickly find out which passages in the Bible have been disputed by Biblical scholars.
I read the Bible too, that’s why I’m an atheist, because I don’t support slavery or the subjection of women.
I also don’t make blind statements about the divorce rate being caused by women who don’t submit to their husband’s whim and then change the subject, but that’s just me.
Do you believe that the earth is only a few thousand years old and that it’s flat, too?
@thisiswhereItellyoueverything - I also don’t make blind statements about the divorce rate being caused by women who don’t submit to their husband’s whim an…
Very much out of context..Then maybe women who wants to be the boss, or the head of the household should not marry.. Sorry, my father was the head of our home.My parents remained married for 33 years that is until my father passed away. Not once did I witness my mother being held in Bondage..As a matter of fact my mother was a non conforming catholic while my father converted to Jehovah’s Witness religion but she compromised so their marriage worked.
@jiazy_1 - That’s a really cute anecdote that doesn’t at all answer the question I posed about where you got your information that the skyrocketing divorce rate happens to be caused by women who won’t just get in the kitchen and make their husbands a sammich.
I think if you ask most married women,do you want your husband to be your partner and ally, or do you want your husband to be your master? I think they would say partner and ally. And I think their marriages would be more successful than those in which one person is the master and one person is subservient to the master.
I don’t think that it should be that women want to be the “boss” and neither should the man. Who the hell wants a “boss” in their marriage? I think that rational people get married so that they have a partner to help them and support them – that goes for men AND women.
To say that women who want to be the “boss” or “head of household” shouldn’t get married is absolutely correct – but neither should a man who wants to be the “boss” in his marriage.
@thisiswhereItellyoueverything - ”I don’t think that it should be that women want to be the “boss” and neither should the man. Who the hell wants a “boss” in their marriage? I think that rational people get married so that they have a partner to help them and support them – that goes for men AND women.”
Now this makes PERFECT SENSE…That’s is my stance as well. Thank you!
@jiazy_1 - How am I taking anything you’ve said out of context?
You say you agree with me about marriage and yet you support the idea that women should be in submission to their husbands?
You believe Abraham lived to be over 900 years old but you’re asking me why I would question if you think the earth is only a few thousand years old or if it’s flat?
You say scientists proved that the earth isn’t flat, but somehow you haven’t gotten the memo that they’ve proven that people can’t live to be over 900 years old or come back from the dead?
You asked: “Do I seem that dumb to you?” Yes. Yes you do.
@thisiswhereItellyoueverything - woo wow..Now you have taken this way out of context..Sorry..Why would I believe the world is flat when scientist have disproved that fact so many years ago..And as believer in Christ, I also believe Abraham lived to the age 900 + and I also believe Noah’s theory.. so why on earth would I believe the earth is only a few thousand years old..I also believe in Ancient Civilizations..Those that existed before the European colonial expeditions….this is enough..Do I seem that dumb to you.Have a happy Easter dear….
You people have no right to talk about jesus. Like dumb apes swinging at a jesus pinata. How can you take THE symbol of love, and decay it with your rotten minds. Hmm,, I do not meditate about jesus, or god. I worry about how I am going to feed myself.
@jiazy_1 - Which questions didn’t warrant an answer in your opinion, and why?
I also think you don’t quite understand what the word “context” means.
Jiazy said, “You’ve just proved my point!Your ignorance & egocentric..
@thisiswhereItellyoueverything -Well excuse me for living..BUT you have not disproved the fact the aren’t so dumb yourself… you aksed sensless questions. some were way out of contex and did not even warrant an answer.. while I respect your belief and iegocentricities those are my beielfs and I stand by them …
_____Excuse me! the Question——–What was so wrong about wife’s submission to her husband?
Lybborn ….whatever ….answer—–You say you agree with me about marriage and yet you support the idea that women should be in submission to their husbands? Where in God’s name did I say that on this thread!
@RulerofMasons - You are correct…People learn from friendly and open discussions but this one has turned ugly.. and I shall no longer be a participant..Thank you!
@thisiswhereItellyoueverything - So why the visit to my site..At any time during this discussion have I visited your site.? You are so blocked.
@thisiswhereItellyoueverything -” Are you just against all forms of self-educating, or are you on drugs?” ’It’s hard to tell. Jiazy’s reply ‘ – You are hilarious..A good laugh on the wonderful blessed Easter Morning that the LORD has made. Thanks for the laughter..No , I do not do drugs – I am just a little weird..ROFL……Currently – I am high on Jesus ..and I waiting to exhale! -;)
Yes I do! There were many who saw, and still, there were many that were doubtful. It’s human nature not to believe unless you see, and even if you saw, some will still be doubtful.
@jiazy_1 - Why are you on the internet interacting with anyone and posting things on a public site if you don’t want people to click on it?
I didn’t realize people are supposed to ask for permission. You’re welcome to visit my site any time you want to.
Yikes! That sounds kinda zombie-ish! I heard the story many times but it sounds like a fairy tale or Greek myth.
YES!!!
@jiazy_1 - Your exchange with thisiswhereItellyoueverything helped reaffirm to me what a huge, blunt tool you are.
Absolutely & without a doubt.
Jesus died for our sins and He rose again. No questions asked.
Nope. If he was raised from the dead why can’t he raise our loved ones who have passed away? I’ll tell you why. He’s a GENIUS! Like Rebecca Black.
no thanks
I believe that he did. Normaly if something isn’t true people stop believing it soon after they are told about it. Think about how long people have believed that Jesus was raised from the dead…if it was a lie… I don’t think people would spend so much time proving that it is a lie or that people would have so much faith in it.
@Celestial_Teapot - Thank you! Well that’s your personal opinion…SORRY, the saying is true ignorance is BLISS…so, I will never attempt to steal your thunder…Name calling that’s not my style. .. …Have a nice day Sweetheart..And God bless you!
I change my opinion from day to day, it seems… Each opinion has equal-strength backing. What @Legendairy said is a load of crap, though; Some events have surviving witnesses, while all this has is a book written by several people, any/all of whom could be lying/telling fiction.
i CHOOSE to believe. someone said that in college they learned that jesus was just a fairy tale…. well of course the secular world turns to MANMADE ideas first. basically they believe that seeing is believing. but in the land of heaven and forever, i believe THEN i see. jesus died in the body, not the spirit. it was a price set by a JUST god to bring us back to him. since i choose to believe this then i have HOPE for the future, specifically that i will never have to be separated by death from my shannon. death will claim me only for a time then she and i will be together forever. that is a powerful truth because the secular alternative is terrifying – “we die, we turn to worm food and that’s all…..”
oh really? look at your wife or husband that you adore and tell her to her face that you are happy to be with her only as long as life is in you on earth but that you will be ripped apart forever when one of you dies. that makes for a very happy future, doesn’t it? well i do not want separation from my babies or from my girl ever and jesus made it possible by his death and raising up again. it’s a choice to believe. when MAN can create my destiny and create planets and life, then maybe i would believe more in our own “godness” but until then, i won’t be so blind and ignorant to trust a creation who still acts like brainless idiots.
Would he be considered a zombie then?
@jiazy_1 - Are you actually asking what is wrong about submitting to your husband? If you are a woman I am very very ashamed of your anti feminist standpoint. Yeah why don’t we all just go backwards a few thousand years where women were treated like shit(including being abused), used to make babies and weren’t allowed to do anything but submit to their husbands needs and whims. Yeah…. such a fucked up answer. Don’t know what’s up with your head. Honestly, I hope you don’t reproduce and spread your bullshit to your offspring.
lmfao and reading your other comments, do you suffer from multiple personalities? The whole italics/username says crap suggests such a thing… get your stuff sorted.
@SilverBird_Loves - I love this” when MAN can create my destiny and create planets and life.”
I changed my mind. I think he’s still alive. How could i doubt someone who has controlled so many years of my life. He’s ingrained in my brain.
An entire Religion is based on the fact that he did. The only accounts that he did were written at least 100 years after the supposed event. There is no factual account written at the time that he did. Paul’s rather Madison Avenue approach to events surrounding Jesus were dismissed by Jesus’ peers at the time.
@petiteme_x - Thank you! wwoooo and exorcism.is needed here..Why are you such an angry little femminist? Oh dear…ROFL…I am entitled to my beliefs ..aren’t I? Or well hide in the corner Jaizy..the demons and the Devil are on a roll..NOT! God is on my side..So I shall laugh in his FACE… for Christ has promised me …..>“No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the children of the LORD, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the LORD.
Well guys why this was a wonderful debate..I’ve got to take my son to service…Got to praise and worship my CREATOR OR RATHER MY MASTER . You know give thanks for my percious son and for my presious life…Happy day all. And keep smiling. Remember – LOVE IS THE ANSWER..LOVE IS ALL AND GOD IS LOVE.-
No. If he ever does raise from the dead, I’ll be standing there with a shotgun. No zombies on my watch.
@jiazy_1 - is this curtis? No wait don’t answer, I can’t handle all the italics and whateverthefuckisgoingoninyourcomments
@ashil333 - awesome! also, I heard he had his body taken elsewhere, to be buried – and that’s why the body wasn’t in the tomb. I think he was able to reach avatar status in his lifetime – that’s how he acquired “immortality” at least in a spiritual sense.
Where do I learn more about number combinations like 333? I only know about 888 (Holy Spirit); and I keep seeing 222 these days.
Yes
Yes. There would have been NO way to have stolen the body (if you know how it was guarded and what measures took place that the time) there would have been no reason to considering that bearing false witness would have been death, and the disciples were already hiding because of fear of death by association, and the list just goes on and on.
Yes. Absolutely.
I do believe He rose from the dead… but I find the commentary on this post to be hilarious. I don’t know if there is “evidence” or not, of His crucifixion / resurrection – I’m not interested in arguing theology. What it boils down to, for me, is faith – belief in something you can’t see. Maybe that’s “blind”… but come on, do you really care? I have faith in God, and without the belief that His Son rose from the dead – I have nothing to stand on. I may be wrong – but I am not concerned (and regardless – doesn’t *every* religion or creed preach being “good”? So either way… I’m set.)
The Bible tells those of us who take the time to read it, that God would one day send His Son, “by Whom also He made the worlds,” to this sin-weary world to lead His people, Israel, out of the bondage that they were experiencing in the land of Egypt. Before that time, He used Moses, a very great prophet to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land of Canaan. That’s a long story, though exciting and filled with a wonderful promise of hope, and you may read it in the Torah (the first five Books of the Old Covenant,
St Paul, in the New Covenant, in his great letter to the Christians in Rome, states emphatically and authoritatively, “So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” If you are willing to give God a reasonable chance to speak to your heart for Himself, you owe Him the obligation (and you owe it to yourself too, to read His Word, the Holy Bible, reverently and with the sincere object of learning the truth concerning the greatest reality of all history: God’s intervention in time, to save depraved human race from itself by send His Son to die on Calvary’s cross to bear our sins, and to rise again from the dead (YES, PHYSICALLY) and shortly thereafter to ascend into heaven from where He will in due course descend to take His faithful believers to be with Him forever. It’s all freely told for us in the Scriptures. They are right there in the Bible for you and me to read. If we won’t read His truth, we are being stubbornly disobedient and rebellious and do not deserve to be acquitted of the guilt for our sins. God tells us clearly, “The soul that sins shall die.” Romans chapter 23. God still loves you, and is withholding his terrible wrath “for a little while” longer to give you a chance to repent. Thank you Dan for this excellent and most relevant question. David B.
Yes, absolutely.
@jiazy_1 - “So what’s so wrong with “wife submit to her husband?” That’s the reason why there are so many darn broken marriages…”
There are so many broken marriages because men don’t love their wives as Jesus loved his church. Women are still abused by their husbands. Only now, women can financially take care of themselves in an America where finally women can have real jobs too. (I’m pretty sure statistics show that more women file for divorce than men do.)
jesus is my homeboy bro! That’s what it’s about.
Yes I do…Smile
nope.
I believe that Jesus was raised from the dead. I also believe that Jesus is a middle aged latino man who works at a Starbucks.
Sure! If he didn’t, I would be living my life very differently. Very. My blog would show it.
petiteme_x this question has been discussed in different forums – churches – the media and I am sorry to inform you, the outcome is always been the same” Heads banging against the wall.”
By the way, I am all female – I will send you a picture of my Virginia if you like..SO CUT THE CRAP! Basically, it a discussion not a personal AGENDA.. Now you have chosen to answer the question, and I respect that but this does not give you the right to be verbally abusive to anyone Now – “what is wrong if a wife submits to her husband’? My perception – A wife should support her husband’s decision that is, all decision patterning to the family unit as a whole.
I also understand that our world is different now meaning the cost of living expenses, global economy etc., so in most cases it is necessary for 2 parties involved in a relationship to work. Therefore, they should share equal responsibilities. But this does not give women the right to think that they are Superior. Men and women should learn mutual understanding and And No! I do not support any form of spousal abuse. But you people seem to forget that women are equally abusive to men. However, men choose to remain silent. Recently, they have been more outspoken.
For example: Pink’s video “Please don’t leave me” what’s it all about? The answer..Violence against men by women…
Facts: Royal Canadian Mounted Police….Very little in known about the actual number of men who are in a domestic relationship in which they are abused or treated violently by women. In 100 domestic violence situations approximately 40 cases involve violence by women against men. An estimated 400,000 women per year are abused or treated violently in the United States by their spouse or intimate partner. This means that roughly 300,000 to 400,000 men are treated violently by their wife or girl friend.
Men stay in abusive and violent relationships for many different reasons. The following is a brief list of the primary reasons.
Abused men are afraid to leave their children alone with an abusive woman. They are afraid that if they leave they will never be allowed to see their children again. The man is afraid the woman will tell his children he is a bad person or that he doesn’t love them.
Many abused men believe it is their fault or feel they deserve the treatment they receive. They assume blame for events that other people would not. They feel responsible and have an unrealistic belief that they can and should do something that will make things better. The abused man is mentally, emotionally or financially dependent on the abusive woman.
The idea of leaving the relationship creates significant feelings of depression or anxiety. They are “addicted” to each other.Help for men who are victims of domestic abuse and violence is not as prevalent as it is for women. There are virtually no shelters, programs or advocacy groups for men.
Celphone post!
Oh zombie jesus. how you pleased us so.
@Queen_of_You188 - though she may not believe in Jesus Christ, that doesn’t necessitate that she’s an atheist. there are many other ways to believe in God than through Christianity and also without any sort of religion.
@ivarahBharavi - XD I was joking. I already knew that Celestial_Teapot is an atheist (and he’s a boy, BTW).
@Queen_of_You188 - oh okay, hahaha. I said that to you because often times people forget it. and oops! I didn’t know his/her gender so I went off of what you said. my bad teapot!
@ivarahBharavi - Lol, it’s alright. The only reason I said that was because he changed his picture to Mrs. Potts :3
Jesus was the First Zombie.
Heck yes!
@UnconventionalButterfly - Is that what people are calling it now? Well, I’ve always been a kid at heart.
yes.
@ohveryoung - It’s not ignorant at all. It’s faith, and whether people share it or not, I think it’s beautiful.
Not only do I believe it… I’m counting on it.. And you can, too.
Yes I do, and I am so thankful that He did
I am going to word it differently as when you say it like that it seems like someone or anyone raised him from the dead…. I would say that God raised him or Jesus came back from the dead something like that…. but yes I do believe.
Thirdly, remember that Louis Vuiton only uses top quality leather, thus you need to learn the difference between look and feel of genuine quality leather and junk one. The Hermes also has high quality of craftsmanship, thus an authentic Hermes Birkin handbag has even and straight stitching.
YES and that doesn’t make me stupid.
Yes!
Yep.
Though, what good is arguing over whether or not it happened? If everyone just followed what Jesus preached, I feel like the world would be a much better place.
sometimes. I wish I could say yes, always, but it’s hard to believe, admittedly.
But the scary thing is that believing one or the other dramatically changes one’s lfiestyle.
he didn’t die (: (:
Yes. Jesus conquered death so we can have life, and have it abundantly.
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 8:11
yes, Jesus rose from the dead and he WILL come again
yes I do!
Absolutely! And how many have freely given their lives out of absolute conviction!
@Ancient_Scribe - Good thing we don’t need internet trolls’ approval for significance, isn’t it? Lol! “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.Your enemies will be right in your own household!” And on Xanga, apparently. I think you’ll agree that the only one a “Well done good and faithful servant” matters from is God Himself
Yes. He is risen.
@jiazy_1 - Yes Curtis, funny how I physically had to check this thread myself to see your silly response. You’re quite block button happy, expected from a troll I suppose.
You need to look into what you respond to by the way as the person who commented you originally said that women were not allowed to speak in church and had to be submissive to their husbands in which you responded that it wouldn’t be bad for women to submit to their husbands(meaning you were approving of silencing women). It honestly just breaks my heart seeing someone who supposedly believes in Christ so much not wanting to allow women to have a say. Jesus loved women and treated them as equals as you apparently have forgotten. For future reference: Marriages ending can be caused by a woman, a man or both in the relationship. I’m so sorry that we’ve gotten over forcing women to get married and stay married to abusive husbands. Or the fact that widows who didn’t have a man were treated terribly…. You also have to understand that not every relationship is a “woman in control” which you think is what happens ever since women got the say. I for one don’t boss around my boyfriend but have known WOMEN AND MEN who are controlling in their relationships. It’s a case by case basis and everyone is different.
And those statistics don’t compare to the thousands of years women have been raped/beaten to death/abused. I never stated women weren’t abusive, you suggested that women(who are most commonly the ones hospitalized per year thanks to husbands and boyfriends) should just deal with it and be submissive. You’re not promoting equality, rather attempting to correct the intent of your comment you made earlier.
It must be pretty threatening to your multiple personalities (which include male, female, troll etc etc) to witness people being treated equally. ta Thanks though for the nice cheery laugh, I see all that praying today did nothing… ffs
@jiazy_1 - I do believe in life after death, the Holy Spirit and the Second Coming – just not according to the bible. The bible is simply a collection of books written by men according to their experiences and interpretations – it’s certainly not the “Word of God” – the universal in authority for all mankind. How do people actually see the bible as Absolute Truth? – it doesn’t even come from God directly – yes, Christ is Absolute Truth – the True Word of God – but the bible is just one of many books which has some Truth in it. Apart from the many falsehoods contained within, the problem, to me, also consists of bibliocentric people – those who simply cannot or refuse to see Truth beyond what is contained in a doctrine. Intelligent and keen minds who seek Truth are never confined to the viewpoints of some men whose thoughts and words are acknowledged by the ignorant and fearful masses as Absolute. There are sources of Truth for revelation beyond the limited and mistaken writings of some men. Unfortunately, it’s the nature of the overlimited human mind which struggles to see this. The bible and the Church is certainly NOT the planned revelation of the Almighty God on earth. The entire idea of Salvation by death of the Son, according to the will of the Father, for a sinful creation, is sheer evidence of peoples’ extremely deep ignorance of God. Too much falsehood in the fearful minds of man – but by Grace, man is slowly progressing out of the bondage of the dark past and his mind is gradually being enlighted by faith and courage.
@boilingicicle - Well, as for the story of his body being taken elsewhere, that’s not true. Apart from the fact that there would certainly have been some human trail if that had happened, it would’ve been impossible since the Romans feared such a thing happening and hence the heavy guarded tomb to ensure the body remained inside. The problem is that because no body was found, all assumed the resurrected Christ was the same physical person who was lying in the tomb. And this coincides with the ignorance and confusion of the actual human self in the minds of those people of the time – in today’s time, so many people still think they are their bodies and inevitably associate their selves or souls with their bodies. Hence, if someone dies, people still think the ‘person’ has died – the material, physical, earthly body becomes the actual person who has free will, choses incorrectly, sins and therefore should be punished, and if forgiven, does not have to perish. So can you imagine what it was like in those days without the insightful spiritual progress of the last +-2000years? All humans have to shed this material coil, but our spiritual selves – that spiritual consciousness created by God, simply sleeps and reawakes in another non-physical form. As regards the Master’s body, the Truth is stranger than all which goes around. In actual fact, celestial personalities were allowed to dissolve the body in the tomb after requesting permission from the resurrected Christ. And even though He (the Son) appeared to His disciples afterwards in non-physical form made visible to them, and denied the offering of food when presented by them due to Him no longer being in the flesh, the story took another mistaken turn when the idea of a physical resurrection began to persist and eventually dominate.
He certainly overcame mortality (or flesh existence and fate) by reaching that highest state of spiritualized consciousness achieved throughout his life by the constant subjugation to The Father’s Will – the wholehearted desire to love God and serve Him, hence becoming more like Him. And this is the door open to all humans who have the choice to embrace Light and Immortality as the free gift of God, or to reject it and embrace the futile mortal existence of the material body.
222 symbolizes resurrection or being in a process of ascension or preparation of this. But take a look for yourself to see what you can.
yes.
@pianomusicchick - I don’t mind being ridiculed. Since what I have chosen to do with my life is based on love and not so much reason, it is not surprising that my life doesn’t “make sense” to a lot of people. Love makes us do surprising and often crazy things!
Yes.
While I am a believer (literally), Lee Strobal did the opportunity to make a “case for Christ” a horrible injustice. I’ve seen better “the top 25 things about me” on facebook….seriously, he butchered it.
@ashil333 - ”In actual fact, celestial personalities were allowed to dissolve the body in the tomb after requesting permission from the resurrected Christ.”
Fantastic! I never knew that before.
@Ancient_Scribe - This is quite true. Love does some crazy and amazing things, like changing who we are, making us put others before ourselves. I am glad you are secure with your life so that it doesn’t bother you when people judge you. You should be. What you do is founded on the Truth of God. And I can see this is true because of the kindness you show others and the Godly wisdom that you share with others.
@pianomusicchick - If we don’t permit our faith to change us, what good does it do anyone? Thank you for your kind words; He is worth every suffering, and I find that most people I meet are worth suffering for as well, even if they don’t see it themselves.
yes
I don’t know. It doesn’t matter in my version of catholicism! The story of the resurrection may just be a parable, meant to signify that after death he “rose” to be by the right side of the Father — e.g. as we all will do after death according to the Christian faith (at least if you don’t get stuck in purgatory or fucked up so much that you go to hell, lol) It wouldn’t change my own system of beliefs, if instead, he actually rose from the deadto become a man of flesh again to live on earth for 50 days before rising to heaven. I don’t need to believe or disbelieve that version in order to have “faith” and to believe Jesus’ messages about how to live a good life on this earth. I feel the same way about the reported “miracles” he reportedly made during his life (are they literal or parable? does it matter?)
Yes, I believe that jesus arose from the dead, he died for our sins.
Yes.
Yes, of course. With God, all things are possible. Miracles happen every day, it’s just not many of us are looking for them, or they’re not as publicized. But if you’re really looking for them and maybe do some research…you’d be surprised.
No. I think it is an ancient story that has little to do with historical events. Although I respect the fact that many people because of religious convictions believe differently.
absolutely! =) without a doubt 100% not only did he Rise, but he Lives in me -_-
ABSOLUTELY YES.
From Sunrise and sunset, permanence is the river of time. Back in the million years ago, humans have learned to observe and control the time of the operation of the law. Grown ups don’t believe children stories
First?
No.
Absolutely and without a doubt!
Yes. What @Legendairy said.
Yes. Maybe not literally, but still yes.
Yes
Yes.
@beautifullymindedx - Don’t forget The Passion of the Christ. Roger & Ebert gave it two thumbs up.
@omgroxie - Jesus was dead, but not anymore.
Yes.
Sort of. Only head shots can kill zombies.
@Celestial_Teapot - Mrs. Potts? You’re an atheist?
Well, my Bible says that he was, so I guess he was.
no, that story is boring. I prefer the power ranger type of story of the monkey king; journey to the west, where the monkey and his two sidekicks battles demons and protects the monk
because whoever captures the monk and eats him gets to be an immortal:D this jesus guy is a drama queen.
@pianomusicchick - I’ve read the Case for Christ, and it didn’t change my opinion one iota. The questions Strobel asks are softballs at best.
@pianomusicchick - I’m reading that right now.
He absolutely rose from the dead.
1. Jesus was a real person
Of course. Glory to the Risen King!
@LadyMira - <——- Ditto this!
Yes. Check out the case of the Shroud of Turin!!
In fact It was made clear by the prophets hundreds of years before Christ that he would come die and be risen from the tomb, for a way for all mankind to have a voice in heaven, for us to be heard by God,
and for us to be acceptable to God. without this mankind is pretty much doomed. we have a eternal spirit
which has to go somewhere when we die, our only representative has gone before us to give us the hope of eternal life. heaven will be much much more than anyone down here can Imagine and God made going there so simple as the scripture puts it , for god so loved the world that he gave his only son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but would have eternal life.
over 500 people saw Jesus after he rose at the same time! the historians of the day were very acurate
and as I have found if you sincerely ask Jesus to make Himself known to You He will. you may not get to see Him before you but things will happen to help you believe in Him .
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - Good answer/ question? But it’s already on a public forum visible to all…Happy Easter…
@GodlessLiberal - well, it wasn’t as compelling as the case for Krisco.
Without a doubt. Otherwise, I’d be wasting my life, wouldn’t I?
Yeah, I also believe in rabbits that poop chocolate eggs.
@Ancient_Scribe - Ridiculous, laughable, and sad.
@In_Reason_I_Trust - Thank you!
I absolutely do.
Maybe…?
@this… In essence, because the Laws or rather the Principles, and or the Guidelines in the Old testament were considered rather harsh and un realistic – (Adam & Eve – mankind were born out of sin), Christ was sent in the flesh by his father to technically re write the Laws, Guidelines, and or Principles of the old doctrine. Christ came in the flesh, (his helpers the 1 2 disciples, all referenced in the New Testament) and later he gave his life willingly so our sins may be forgiven.
-.Hence, the birth of the New Testament -
Wonder if anyone has actually seen gravity?
@jiazy_1 - Wow, women came from the man’s rib?
You asked: “Do I seem that dumb to you?”
Yes.
Nope.
@jiazy_1 - How old are you?
Also, a lovely site for anyone who wants to get acquainted with what’s actually in the Bible: http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/
@thisiswhereItellyoueverything - Rofl…google again? geeezeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
@jiazy_1 - You knock google but you also completely ignored the passages from the Bible that I mentioned before.
Are you just against all forms of self-educating, or are you on drugs? It’s hard to tell.
@thisiswhereItellyoueverything -Also think you don’t quite understand what the word “context” means.ROFL…
Jiazy said, “You’ve just proved my point!Your ignorance & egocentric..
@thisiswhereItellyoueverything -Well excuse me for living..BUT you have not disproved the fact the aren’t so dumb yourself…
you aksed sensless questions. some were way out of contex and did not even warrant an answer.. while I respect your belief and iegocentricities those are my beielfs and I stand by them …
_____Excuse me! the Question——–What was so wrong about wife’s submission to her husband?
@thisiswhereItellyoueverything - why are you still talking to her. I believe you proved your point.
“spor aletl3ri kişisel bakım beslenm3”
Thank for great sharing
@jiazy_1 - Happy Easter to you too.
@Celestial_Teapot - Thank you! Well that’s your personal opinion…SORRY, the saying is true ignorance is BLISS… so, I will never attempt to steal your thunder…Name calling that’s not my style.
@Celestial_Teapot - thank you!
No.
i CHOOSE to believe. someone said that in college they learned that jesus was just a fairy tale…. well of course the secular world turns to MANMADE ideas first. basically they believe that seeing is believing. but in the land of heaven and forever, i believe THEN i see. jesus died in the body, not the spirit. it was a price set by a JUST god to bring us back to him. since i choose to believe this then i have HOPE for the future, specifically that i will never have to be separated by death from my shannon. death will claim me only for a time then she and i will be together forever. that is a powerful truth because the secular alternative is terrifying – “we die, we turn to worm food and that’s all…..”
oh really? look at your wife or husband that you adore and tell her to her face that you are happy to be with her only as long as life is in you on earth but that you will be ripped apart forever when one of you dies. that makes for a very happy future, doesn’t it? well i do not want separation from my babies or from my girl ever and jesus made it possible by his death and raising up again. it’s a choice to believe. when MAN can create my destiny and create planets and life, then maybe i would believe more in our own “godness” but until then, i won’t be so blind and ignorant to trust a creation who still acts like brainless idiots.
@jiazy_1 - is this curtis?
Now you have chosen to answer the question, and I respect that but this does not give you the right to be verbally abusive to anyone
Now – “what is wrong if a wife submits to her husband’? My perception – A wife should support her husband’s decision that is, all decision patterning to the family unit as a whole.
I also understand that our world is different now meaning the cost of living expenses, global economy etc., so in most cases it is necessary for 2 parties involved in a relationship to work. Therefore, they should share equal responsibilities. But this does not give women the right to think that they are Superior. Men and women should learn mutual understanding and And No! I do not support any form of spousal abuse. But you people seem to forget that women are equally abusive to men. However, men choose to remain silent. Recently, they have been more outspoken.
TiredSoVeryTired
@momofjenmatt - Why do you say this?
Regarding number combinations – I sought the sites: http://www.angelscribe.com/1111.html and http://www.sacredscribes.net/angelnumbersequences.htm
@ashil333 - ”In actual fact, celestial personalities were
allowed to dissolve the body in the tomb after requesting permission
from the resurrected Christ.”
