You May Be Drinking an Abortion In Your Pepsi
Pepsi is coming under fire because they contract with a research firm that “uses fetal cells” from aborted babies to “test and produce artificial flavor enhancers.” Here is the link: Link
I always thought Pepsi had that added zip to their drink but I couldn’t place my finger on it.
Next time you drink Pepsi, remember that an unborn baby gave its life for that drink.
If this is true, would you boycott Pepsi?

i don’t know, but i’m glad to say that i prefer Coke anyway.
This makes me want to start drinking more pepsi…
I’m glad I hardly ever drink soda…
No, but I hope that doesn’t explain why I like Pepsi better than Coke!
I am… drinking coke now. The atheists should be delighted though.
mmm…you can really taste the fetus
Hell no, Pepsi is the best. The babies are dead anyways, the mothers will still have abortions. Why NOT use the cells for research/development. Although, the cells should be used for stem cell research not artificial flavoring lol.
Delicious.
lolz, “lifenews” ohh aren’t you silly
I’m a Coke drinker, too. I’m not too concerned with the testing and whatever as long as no one starts having weird growths or illnesses. I doubt that could even be nailed as the cause of anything that outrageous. We test everything on everyone without them knowing it. It only makes the news when it has anything to do with a fetus…. anything. No one is really that concerned about the millions of pesticides and hormones they ingest on a regular basis, but fetal cells?
Mmmm
@NikBv - *offers sixpack* =D
disturbing but, 1 of my fa sodas
I was wondering how they came out with Pepsi Max.
hrm.
Gah, I was reading about this last night. Credible citation needed, ’nuff said.
A) To test and produce not MIX IN.
B) The fetus didn’t give its life for that.
*irked*
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HEK_cell The HEK cells was derived in the 70s cultured by Alex Van der Eb. They are cloned cells with Adenovirus 5 DNA.
They do not need to “cull” an aborted baby every time hey need the cells.
Baby in a blender!
I already boycotted it anyway. I used to love Pepsi. Oh well, no big loss to me. I gave up drinking soda a year ago. Water is best!
Ewwwww!!
Oh and what if some of those fetuses were from military woman who were raped?
mmmm all this baby essence without a higher price. im sold!
Heh heh, anyone else remember those old Pepsi commercials? “You got the right one, baby!” Taking on a whole new meaning, huh?
Weird. I don’t drink soda anyway. Hardly ever. And even if I do, I don’t drink Pepsi products. I prefer Coke products. But mostly prefer not to drink soda at all.
Pepsi products are pretty disgusting… I don’t know why… I guess the taste leaves the taste of dead babies…
Yeah, not because I’m against abortion (I’m not) but because I’m pretty against cannibalism.
Oh ewww… I’m drinking pepsi right now
I hated pepepsi. But wahtever. they kill more thenbabies. Trust me. They’re so gorrss. but id o like that they have the real sugar stuff. but it still sucks. ehsy str rats for anyweway? I’m noty sure.
I don’t even drink soda. I’m adding that as another reason to my list.
i don’t drink soda. that’s just nasty.
Eh, I’ve always preferred Coca Cola.
crazy… wondered why i never liked pepsi
Good thing I drink Big Red, full of artificial coloring and red dye #5 and lots of caffeine.
Mountain Dew, thank you.
Glad I don’t drink soda anymore…
I would boycott them, but I don’t drink soda anyways so it makes no difference. Keep in mind folks, dead baby cells aren’t actually in Pepsi, the simply use dead baby cells to engineer the artificial sweeteners that they put in Pepsi, which is still wrong.
They wouldnt put it in the drink directly…and plus HEK 293 cells arent from thousands of babies, its from one. One baby, which was aborted during the 1970′s. The cells are regenerated- they arent the original cell line from the baby, they are cells regenerated from the original. I use these cells at the lab where I intern (no not for food testing, for gene therapy). These cells have been regenerated sooo many times. People need to get correct information before assuming things. Having said that, IF for some miraculous reason 293T cells are in pepsi (which is highly unlikely) then they should have told consumers before placing it on the market.
mmm, i love pepsi! ah, yes, lifenews.com, the most trusted name in news…*vomit*
Talk about a biased source… they accuse Pepsi of “glossing over” things, but never stop to consider what Pepsi is actually saying. Not to mention that, even if this is true, the article itself states that the fetuses were electively aborted – they would have been aborted regardless. Their entire argument is faulty and flawed. That being said, even if this is true, I’m not gonna stop drinking Pepsi products. The cells aren’t IN Pepsi, they are only used to test if the artificial flavors are what the developers wanted. And an unborn baby didn’t give its life, it was electively aborted. (One baby, with its cell regenerated thousands of times, from what I understand. Just one.) It would have been aborted anyway. But you always like your sarcasm
if I did drink soda, I wouldn’t care. Most fetal cells use for testing come from a single line of cells dating back to the last mid-century… or so I seem to recall but don’t care enough about to verify. At any rate, it’s not like anyone’s getting an abortion because pepsi forced them to- they would just be making use of something already there, to make sure their products are safe (better than animal testing that does require you to maim/kill the animal, methinks)
I’m pro-choice and all, but I have a problem that they are using fetal cells to test the FLAVORINGS.
It seems only the testing part uses the fetus and it’s not in the drink, but I can’t even pretend to understand how that process is used to achieve an exact taste, changes the taste or tests the taste. Nope. No clue.
Pfft! If it’s tasty, I don’t care. It’s not Pepsi’s fault the baby got aborted.
Hm…”A Modest Proposal” for our time! LMAO
I don’t know. Since I also use products that are tested on animals and I don’t really see it as a very big deal since those companies that claims they don’t test on animals are simply because they use ingredients that are ALREADY TESTED safe on animals. I’m not exactly a fan of pepsi in the first place anyway.
It sounds as though no one actually read the article. They don’t use the aborted fetus’ IN Pepsi.
I don’t drink Pepsi anyway – I like Coca-Cola
Why do you let me down, buttercup baby…
Hey ya’ll! I’m still a virgin.
@six6vi - lil bow wow
Soylent Green.
an unborn baby was aborted so that pepsi could use it’s cells for this. if I like pepsi products, no, I would not stop.
i doubt it’s true. i don’t think aborted fetal cells have taste buds. even if they did, they wouldn’t make a very good focus group.
ewwwwwww……. that is disgusting………………
good thing i drink coke and not pepsi!

I’ve always been a Pepsi drinker. I hate Coke. I think it tastes like peppery ass. I’m glad the cells are going to some use though rather than just sitting in a dumpster. Abortions will happen no matter what, at least put the fetuses to some good use when the lady is done with em.
IDK, I mean they torture animals for most of our bath/hair products. It’s like, unavoidable. My defeatist attitude makes life so much easier to deal with. =)(=
@bittersweetreflections - Yes, Pepsi told a woman that she had to abort her baby so they could use it for testing. Seriously? Come on.
@IWasAnIsland - truth
@IWasAnIsland - lol yeah, I know. I was being sarcastic! obviously they would not.
I drink Coke anyways. Pepsi was never even a contender.
*purchases more Pepsi stock*
Well I do prefer Coke any way but that won’t stop me. Because I guess I just like the taste of aborted baby.
Signed,Tyler Moore
I don’t drink dark soda.
Coke is so gross though -.- I drink it and it feels like my teeth are going to fall out. Ughh.
I think Pepsi is alright, its not my favourite. I only drink it if I have to. I prefer Ginger Ale
“. “Using isolated human taste receptors, we created proprietary taste
receptor-based assay systems that provide a biochemical or electronic
readout when a flavor ingredient interacts with the receptor.””
From the article. its kinda gross that they take these little babies taste receptors and use them as “tasters”. its kinda like the baby is “living” but it isn’t.
I’m sorry but this is just creepy.
Using embryonic kidney cells =/= mixing in babies. Also, the baby is already dead. What the hell else are they going to do with it? At least this way, the embryo isn’t just going to be thrown out…
I boycott Pepsi regardless, it’s gross.
@RulerofMasons - ?
meh.. i don’t drink Pepsi anyway, or any soft drinks for that matter
Don’t drink Pepsi.
@kohawkrachel - That’s what I was going to say.
They’re using the fetus so simulate taste receptors on the flavor enhancers, not to make the enhancers. It’s morally questionable to me, but no one is drinking fetus parts. That’s more than a little against regulations…
Coke for life if Pepsi is doing this….
oh no, that’s not cool. i’ve been drinking diet pepsi all week…i’ve been avoiding soda for a few years, and of all weeks that i had to start drinking, you had to post this. haha!
true or not with this baby-grossness, soda rots your teeth anyway. I’ll be happy with my water and juices.
@ionekoa - It didn’t say they were using the taste buds. They’re using kidney cells.. It still may not be true, but I know that fetuses have a lot of undifferentiated cells that can be manipulated to differentiate into what they need, so maybe that’s what they’re doing if it’s real?
Also taste bud reactions can actually be measured scientifically. If I had paid more attention in that class, I could tell you how, but sadly I was texting. LOL.
HA! NO WONDER IT TASTES SO GOOD!!! EAT BABIES!!!! YUMMM!!!!
Last night I was at my friend’s house and we were both trashed, and we read this and thought it was pretty much hilarious.
Thanks for brightening up my night with your ridiculously awesome entries Dan
@six6vi - I have been programmed to think sex with black people… I’m afraid to try it. Do you have any tips on how I can rid myself of this way of thinking?
All I can say is “that’s wrong.”
And all I can say is “poor babies,” I really wish there was no such thing as abortion. People shouldn’t be getting pregnant anyways if they don’t want kids but to the kids they do have.. Kids are life and they deserve to live <3
Frankly, I think that this is innovative. No one gets an abortion so that they can donate their baby’s life to product testing….they obviously do it for other personal reasons. This means that these unborn children would have died regardless, so in my opinion, if this was going to occur anyway, we either waste the remains completely, or use them to help save others’ lives to test the safety of products and additives. Also, to this organization that states that insects or other animals could have been used, that’s not always correct. As a Doctor of Pharmacy student, we are taught that a lot of the time, an animal’s organs cannot process substances the same way the human body does, hence why clinical trials are still needed to market a new drug. If all of our problems could be solved without involving human cells, that would sure be great, but as of now, the use of human cells is often a necessity. To me, it only makes sense that the source of some of those cells should be from aborted fetuses, as those cells would have been otherwise wasted.
And I’m mad at Pepsi… For doing that… ya the kids died.. but to be testing the products on dead babies or who knows what the hek they’re doing…. is messed up and wrong…. <3 if someone dies you should leave them alone especially babies who were aborted =( I just think thats wrong
@RulerofMasons - You could always kill yourself.
that’s really…morbid. I like coke better anyway.
@ShimmerBodyCream - wtf? I’m atheist and I think this pepsi situation is screwed up. Being atheist doesn’t mean you love killing babies. Damn.
@Sand_notes - Ignore it, she’s not that smart.
I’m not drinking babies am I?
@six6vi - how
Gross. This is like cannibalism in a weird way.
OMFG. That is… that is just UNPLEASANT. I guess i can settle with Coke
hahahahahahahahaha I know I shouldn’t be laughing and it’s awful but the title paired with your tone just makes this post hilarious to me!
Have to admit, the deceptive title pulled me in -___-;;.
how do the fetal cells taste the flavor?
Here’s what bothers me about this argument. We’re not actually seeing any solid evidence, we’re just hearing it from right-wing extremists. If they put a brand name into their cause, it’ll get some attention.
And even if Pepsi is testing on embryonic cells, at least that’s a bit of life that isn’t going to waste. A woman out there couldn’t keep her baby, but that baby is now part of something bigger; it’s part of science.
1. Fetus =/= baby.
2. Citation needed.3. Testing =/= actual usage in the final product. TROLOLOLOLOL~
An unborn baby did not give it’s life specifically for YOUR Pepsi; that is just an idiotic notion. Aborted babies have already been aborted, by the choice of their mother. I’m almost POSITIVE that women don’t go into an abortion clinic thinking, “Well, it looks like I’m going to have to give up this baby. Pepsi needs my unborn child’s cells.”
I’m drinking a diet pepsi right now
I got tired of coke but I might switch to mt.dew now
“Next time you drink Pepsi, remember that an unborn baby gave its life for that drink.”
Based on what’s in the article you linked to, that’s false. The biotech company isn’t aborting babies – they’re using cells from fetuses that were electively aborted for other reasons. So even if you’re opposed to abortion, I don’t see the harm in this; as long as abortions are happening, there’s no sense in letting all those fetus cells go to waste!
Gives a whole new meaning to a “Tasty Double”
I won’t boycott it. I like Pepsi. Coke makes my mouth feels weird. I try not to drink a lot of soda as is, so it wouldn’t be too hard to stop drinking it altogether, but if I got a soda craving I’d still be reaching for a Pepsi.
Sick
@Sand_notes - You clearly don’t know atheists well. Not only do they support abortion, they don’t have the morals to believe cannibalism is wrong. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Fish Proof that without Christianity, humans are little more than animalistic savages.
Is anyone else just eager to hear phosphorickike chime in about this?
The babies are already aborted, even the (logical) pro-lifers can probably agree that not using these aborted fetuses for testing won’t bring them back or stop abortions.
Disgusting!
YOU ARE SO GROSS! (But me and my hubby did have a good laugh over this. We enjoy talking about you every now and again…“So, do you think TheoDan is a real Christian?” “Guess what TheologianCafe wrote about today?” “Do you think he’s an attention seeker in real life or just on Xanga?” etc.)
No, I wouldn’t boycott Pepsi for that. I like Pepsi more than Coke. Besides they’re using already dead fetus for testing, not killing fetuses for testing. I also agree with kohawkrachel that they’re not mixing them in either. What’s with people reading the wrong things just to stir up controversy?
I dislike Pepsi. (I dislike most soda, actually.) So I will continue not drinking Pepsi.
i have a penis…haha
EW.
this is absolutely ridiculous. are they really sooo stupid that they must use the fetus of an unborn, murdered child for their flavor? all I have more to say is that these people and mothers of these unborn babies should feel terrible. plus, it’s gross.
@Btrfly_Wngs - I can’t believe I even posted, I know Dan is only trying to shock and awe people, lol. Oh well!
SO TODAY MET THE DUMB FOBBY MEXICAN WHORES ON THE WAY. DUMB HISPANIC TIED HER HAIR IN A NEAT BUN DRIVING AND HONKING CUTTING RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER BETTER. THE LOW CLASS BIMBO HAS HER HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA TRASHY LOWLIFE SEX PARTNER IN HER PASSENGER SEAT YELLING OUT THE KIND OF VULGAR BENEATH ONE LANGUAGE THAT HER WHORY DIRT POOR UNEDCATED FAMILY HAS BEEN BROUGHT UP IN. THE DUMB FOBBY MEXICAN BASTARD GIVEN BIRTH BY THE WHORES WAS WIDE EYED OPEN IN THE BACK SEAT. THE WHOLE DIRTY FAMILY DROVE AROUND IN THEIR PRECIOUS TOYOTA (THE ONLY AND MOST PRECIOUS BELONGING THEY CAN AFFORD IN LIFE) LAUGHED AND CURSED LIKE THEY ARE ABUSING THEIR BETTERS ON THE STREETS WHEN IN FACT THE WHORES ARE TOO DUMB TO UNDERSTAND THEIR WORTHLESSNESS IN LIFE. THEY ARE DIRT POOR DUMB FOBS WHO CAN CONTRIBUTE LITTLE IN LIFE. THAT’S THE REASON AMERICA IS ROLLING DOWN THE HILL WITH LOWCLASS PHYSICIANS AND PHARMACISTS CRAWLING UP THE LADDERS. BUT THE TRASHY SLUTS ARE TOO DUMB TO UNDERSTAND THEIR BETTERS’ VALUE.
Oh for god’s sake. (You god doesn’t deserve a capital “G”) A cell is not a baby. And you are smart enough to know that. But you are so in love with your level of commitment that you refuse to use any amount of critical analysis in your thoughts about abortion.
It doesn’t really matter one way or the other. The foundation of modern technology is on the backs of tortured and now extinct animals. All corporations act the same. If Pepsi is doing it and they release that information publicly that means there are many others doing it as well. Also HEK cells have many different sources. While you aren’t allowed to clone whole humans individual cells is entirely different.
@sdflkjaslkf - I hope you die a painful death after you have been tortured for decades with the most horrible tortures. You are an uneducated and evil person. It is people like you who are making this world fall apart with your aristocracy and Social Darwinism. I seriously wish the worst things for people like you. That “low-class whore” is more than likely better than you in so many ways that it would make your head spin. I hope you die. Seriously. You are a lesion on the face of humanity only spouting old world rhetoric and hatred.
hahahahhaha omg this is kind of awesome, in a really really terrible way. I’m a coke drinker anyway, I boycott pepsi by default.
