  • Is Premium Worth It?

I was just reading flipquy31o’s pulse where he was wondering if buying premium LIFE membership on xanga was worth it.

Is buying premium on xanga worth it?

  • It gives you so much. I wouldn’t even be able to blog without premium. Thanks, xanga team!

  • I don’t know what they do really. I’d only join if I got a free tshirt.

  • It’s worth it to me since I have a huge protected list, and I upload a bunch of pictures

  • Hmmm I dunno. I’m fine with the free xanga I have. I don’t upload that many pics and I don’t really write protected posts….

  • Probably not, but I bought it anyway because I feel Xanga kinda deserves it from me haha

  • IDK. If i stay on here for four years, then yes. Cheaper than by the year.

  • The ads used to bug me when I was like fourteen, but now who cares?! So, no. Maybe. If I had a million dollars then yes.

  • YES!  WORTH IT!  BUY PREMIUM!

  • Does Xanga still offer LIFE?

  • I refuse to go without it.

  • Yes, to me. I hate ads. And my layout happens to usually place the ad above my picture, which is annoying. Plus the benefits, and I would do it just to support Xanga.

  • I think it’s just a status thing. If I could buy it with xanga credits I would get it, I have so fucking many of those saved up. But other than that, I don’t see the point in buying a lifetime premium membership when xanga is just either going to collapse someday like myspace, or get swallowed up by one of the larger companies like facebook who would have no problem opting out of the entire premium market all together, leaving my investment worthless.

  • NO WAY IN HELL! You already know that!

  • They offer premium for life?  I thought they got rid of that.  I want it if it’s still offered!!

  • I have no idea what life’s like without it, and I’m probably better off not knowing, as I prefer not to spend money on Xanga.

  • I’m a Xanga “Lifer” – and I got it after Mike and I got married as a gift to myself… plus I figured I should support Xanga, seeing as I credit it w/ my meeting my husband. I’ve been on here since 2005, I think… I’ve more than been on long enough to justify the expense. Plus – I truly LOVE not having ads or plugz.

  • Premium is definitely worth it.

  • I used to have premium and I liked it. I wanna go back to having premium. But i think its so worth it.

  • I suppose some would get their money’s worth.  I don’t think my Xanga experience would improve much.  Getting rid of the American App ads would be nice, but it’s not worth paying for.

  • I once bought Life.  Then I died the next day.  Total rip-off.

  • Love it! Definitely lets me upload a ton of photos so that I can make all my photoblogs :D And I can have a lot more than just three profile pics :D

  • sorry, I’m a college student.
And, I use Xanga more as a not super public site so I don’t think I’ll be keeping as well used to benefit as well from it.

back in high school and before facebook, when I used it more + if I had lots of money. I’d buy a lifetime premium.

  • Don’t know, never had it and don’t plan on ever having it.I guess if I wrote a lot on here and tried to get noticed for writing, maybe it would be nice. But lets face it,I’m NOT a writer.

  • No… I suppose if I had a great deal more money on hand.

  • Not really so much at least life time like. I’m never wasting my money for something like that again..

  • Not lifetime, but I think the $4 I just spent after 7 years to get 7 years of archives done was worth it! It just took me that long to give in, haha.

  • Only if you post a lot of photos. If you don’t, Premium- whether purchased annually or for life- is not a good value unless you just plain enjoy giving Xanga money.

  • No.  There are still ads on my pages even with Premium.

I only spent credits on it.

  • @Roadlesstaken - you xanga whore! Xanga says dance and you say “on which pole?” haha j/k =D if I was an ambassador of Xanga like you, I’d do it too. haha

  • Yes. I don’t really use the features other thna enjoy having less advertisement (wouldn’t mind they all going away), but I know I support Xanga and keep it going and I have more grounds to whine and complain, because i’m not using a free service.

  • what for…why not just friends lock it for free

  • It’s cool if you’re a lifer like me. Being able to back up 8 years worth of blogs was the biggest incentive. I’ve got more photos on Xanga than I do anywhere else. Ads always messed with the look of my themes and it’s nice to not have to look at the plugz (anything related to top blogs and the front page is a big downer for me).

I do miss knowing how many days it’s been since I first joined Xanga, though. *cough*3002 days*cough*

  • I wish you could buy it with credits. 1,000,000 gets you Premium for Life.

  • To me, yes it is worth it.

  • For me it is, as I’m blogging protected. By buying Premium I can let more than ten people read my blogs.

  • much more available with premium, if you want to expand your blogging experience.

  • Only if you want to be able to archive your blogs and download everything to your computer. If I feel I need a Premium, I will get it but I don’t feel pressured to get it.

The True badge worth a lot more. It’s just something you can’t buy with cash or credit.

  • I got premium such a long time ago.  From that time period, there aren’t many friends/subscribers that log on/comment/update anymore. Which is fine as I joined just for myself to get back in the habit of writing/creating.  Premium I believe is easier on the eyes. I enjoy the fact that I can store so much of my artwork here.  I definitely find it worth the money. I think the lifetime thing expires for me in 2030 something though. hehe.

  • I never bought premium but I do plan on getting life once I get a job.

  • I bought the one for life but don’t even use xanga as much . Which I probably should .

  • No because you might forget you bought it and close your account down and then you’ve just thrown money down the drain.

  • Not really.

  • Up until recently, yes I thought it was worth it, and I may purchase it again. We shall see.

  • I got lifetime back when I first started in sometime during 04 or so. I spend 100 dollars and would never abandon my site. The only changes I would ever do to it is username. I used to be Momma2babies34. Then I had another child and things were different. Since I spend so much of my adult life on this site, I may as well make use out of it.

Therefore, to answer your question, it all depends on when. Years ago I bought it, it’s worth it. Nowadays? if nobody is serious with their blogging, then no. If they are, then yea, most likely. There’s a difference between free site and paid site.

  • Yes, it is worth it.

  • @TheMushyPear - What are you, some kind of shill for the team? lol

  • I doubt xanga will be around in 2 years, so no.

  • if I knew when I restarted on xanga like 4 years ago that I’d be using it this much then yes, the $100 would be totally worth it.

I’m kind of in a nice routine now of earning credits and buying it for 6 months, making it a goal to earn them back by the time the 6 months is over. I like my game :)

  • well I paid for 2 yrs but now I’m a freeloader for almost 2 years

  • No ads, extra storage, win win.  I’ve earned the 25k credits the past two years and that’s what they go towards.

  • I say “yes”.  I’ve had Lifelong membership for years now, and just the fact that there are no ads was worth the price for me.  It was a one time payment of $100.  Not sure what the cost is now.

  • don’t know to much about premium…but then again I have life…so what is the difference…

  • This is just like asking about buying premium seats on the Titanic.

  • I think maybe if I actually had protected posts or more of a “personal” blog it might be worth buying premium, but all in all I would say no it’s not worth it.

  • i just rationalized it in my head, how long i thought i would be blogging for, how much it costs to pay for an annual premium account, the ability to upload lots and lots of pictures…….

i think that was in 2003.

jus sayin.  ;) i’m a LIFEr so it may be different, and i’m really off and on with xanga, but i always find myself coming back to it from time to time. it cost me $100 and back then that’s some big money/commitment! for me…. but i’m still here. while i barely upload pics these days, idk. it’s nice to have it. over time, you won’t miss the price you paid.

  • paid for with xanga credits?  Absolutely!!  Otherwise, no for me!

  • I think stuff like that is pointless.

  • Definitely, now who wants to buy it for me? :P

  • Hi, Dan!  For me,  Premium Plus is the best choice.

  • I don’t even know what you gain with premium.

  • I’ve bought 5 years of premium now.  So it would have paid for itself.  But 5 years ago I didn’t have 100 bucks.

  • I miss having no ads, but I don’t think premium is worth it when money is tight.

  • lots of things aren’t worth it in life but we do them anyways

  • I’m fine with a free account.

  • Perhaps buying premium for life would be worth it if my xanga blogging didn’t fall through after several months, which it almost always does. Maybe I’ll look at investing in it after Christmas, when it’s not my earned money I’m spending. :) We shall see.

  • so how much is life?
