Your Role on Xanga
I was at an Internet marketing conference today that I was going to for work.
In the conference one of the speakers was talking about twitter and other social networks. He said there are a few type of people in a social network like twitter.
1. Content Creators: These are the people that create almost all the content that everyone talks about. This represents 5-10% of the people on the social network.
2. Critics: These are the people that speak for or against the content of the content creators. Some of these critics look for the positive side of the situation and some of these people speak against the content or the content creators. This represents 5-10% of the people on the social network.
3. Collectors: This is the group that just discusses the content that was created. They rarely create content and are not really the main critics. They tend to just discuss the content of the social network. This represents 40% of the people on the social network.
4. Inactive: These people are on the social network but don’t tend to interact with the trending issues at all. This represents 40% of the people on the social network.
Which role do you play on xanga?

Hmm, I guess of all of them I fit #1 the most? Maybe.
I’m a little bit of 1 and mostly 2.
both 1 and 2?
None of these.
I think I’m more of a discontent creator.
Is shitty self loathing poetry a catagory?
Um…a little bit of all of them? lol. I create content, but I don’t know that “everyone’s talking about it.” I am not overly “critical” although I do read a lot. I steer clear of feeding trolls, etc. b/c it’s so obvious and I don’t allow myself to get drawn into it, even though I read most of that when it goes on. I do discuss other people’s content. But yeah, again…I read a lot and silently observe and don’t always directly interact on what I’m soaking in.
Idk I guess inactive?
Content creator, for sure. New, original content blogs every single day!

Whore. Wait, what?
“MEH” should be a category, Dan. I mean. We are talking about the internet.
I have no idea…
3, I guess. All I ever do is read and sometimes comment.
Is it possible to do a little of all four from time to time? I see those who create, collect and critique.
I guess I’m somewhat of a collector… I don’t really know.
@Kevin_is_a_pirate - no, but it could be a category…heh, guess I’m a bit of a critic.
I’m a bit of one and two.
none of these. i just write, process, comment, reply. rinse and repeat.
# 5 Voyeur (btw, you look lovely this evening, Dan)
No idea. I do my own thing. lol
Me? Just an occasional contributor and encourager.
I say again: I’m just an occasional contributor and encourager.
Oh man I do not think I fit into any of them. I love sharing photography and interacting with people here. I find the nicest, most interesting people here on Xanga and totally enjoy reading people here. Sure we all have our trolls and spammers but that is just the world of social networking. The best folks on the web are here on Xanga.
I think #1, although I often piggyback off of other’s ideas for short posts.
you can’t make me have a role on anything.
1 and 4.
(does that make me 14? hehehe)
Rob_of_the_Sky
Number 3. I treat my internets like I treat my Pokemon.
I don’t feel like I’m any of the above; I’m an orphan! Help!
Inactive.
Probably inactive.
EDIT – Can you really call it inactive if it’s 40%? Maybe we just don’t care about what’s trending, so what?
Def #4 – totally non-trending. Except when I do.
2 and 3.
I create content that nobody talks about.
Content creator, but based on my footprints, I love to write about sucking cock.
A little bit of 2, 3, and 4. Depending on my mood.
Of the categories, I’m mostly 4.
Considering I spend most of my time writing, I guess number one.
I don’t like those labels. I think of myself as mostly a reader, sometimes a commenter, and occasionally, a journaler. I don’t create as much content as I once did, and I’m sure no one’s talking about any of it.
I suspect like many; Something to do with hope, a dream, something that will never happen really, but i am still seeking anyways. Some validation from others i guess.
The slacker
Mostly #4, I guess.
undecided
I make fun of most celebrities and swoon over jude law
commentator and fangirl
Now we know who starts all the drama on Xanga.
@wyrdkismet - Same here. Lol
4.
Yes.
I have little or no interest in the trending topics on xanga, so even though I create content on a regular basis, by these definitions I am inactive.
I have no idea lol. what do you think I am?
Funny you mention this. A bank had goals, far from being met, yet I saw optimism. Talk about marketing strategy, when will white america realize businesses will continue to shrink. More are graduating from college then jobs are being created. The economy will be a failure until jesus returns. Everyone is suffering. There is no growth, no opportunities. No prosperity.
Too many mouths to feed, let us legalize euthanization, take over mexico, call america Texas, bomb Korea, take over the middle east, and make europe our bitch?
Hot dog diggity!
I’ve been a little bit of all of the above. It depends on my mood.
#1
I have been all of them.
huh?
that just made me #2 so I understand now. lol
5.) I just kinda do what I want, when I want. I’ve been the content creator, I’ve been the critic, I’ve been the collector, and I’ve been just doing my own thing. It depends on my mood, and how the topics engage me (or not).
This post was pedantic. The photograph doesn’t seem to match up with the rest of the post. Dan mentions work in this post, and I hate work, thus lowering the quality of “fun” this post had the potential to bring.

Inactive
#3 The Collector.
I usually blog about whatever news I’ve heard, tidbits of information, gossip, etc. BUT not necessarily stuff that’s on Xanga’s front page -.-
I guess I might be a hybrid of a critic and a collector.
I.. think I shuffle around in the mix–but mostly have been inactive lately, would you agree?
i find my role is to stay BEHIND the machine, trying to make sure the content creators, critics and collectors play nice together. i find supporting roles and serving to be my strength.
I’m definitely a 3 and sometimes a 4. I like xanga, but I never get too much time to work on it.
4
3,4
I’m between the collectors and inactive.I have come up with topics before, but nothing that was too widespread.
I’m basically in my own world on here, but just because I’m not talking about everything doesn’t mean I don’t know what’s going on
hahaha
i create inactive critic collectors; it’s a full time gig
On xanga i am 3. (on fb, i am 1)
Mostly 1 and 2. Though the only stuff I tend to criticize is pseudoscience.
I bounce around all three…like a tree with bee’s knees.
I really don’t think I fit into any of the categories you listed…..
I’d say I participate in all four, though one and two most often.
thx infonya sangat bermanfaat untuk kategori ini semua
pelangsing fatloss
kosmetik
obat vitalitas

Inactive. That goes for here, facebook and twitter as well.
Dan, I guess I stand in a class by myself — or maybe not simply by myself, but with others who won’t so freely speak out. I feel compelled to write because I feel there is a foundational truth that people are missing which needs to be considered or explained. That said, I don’t care one spit if it ever gets read…. and I mean that. I write cathartically, and though many folks have zeroed in on my words — I don’t write for them, I simply write to write. It helps me understand my own issues when I do so.
I stopped reading and regularly reviewing others Xanga sites about 3 years ago… so I can’t be a critic. I’ve nothing to criticize. I don’t even follow a single news report — no CNN, not one newspaper, no radio. Someone wise that I once knew said that anything of true importance will be on the lips of everyone around you. That made so much sense that I cancelled my subscriptions to every news media —- that was 25 years ago and I haven’t missed a single world event which was note-worthy. People always talk.
And I am definitely not inactive — 3 to 30 posts a month places me far out of that catagory.
I think maybe there’s a catagory on your list that was missed — there’s also the Journallors. Those of us who like to keep a diary… and who don’t care if others do or don’t read it. It’s not about being eloquent or popular or pithy — it’s about getting to know my own heart or self better as I explore my surroundings and reflect. Does this make sense?
Uhhh… the village idiot?

no. People do not read what I write.
….I dont really want them to. I just use this online journal to get out my writings when I’m online and affected by something. Its the equivalent of me of writing in a book… but this way you cant see the scribbles that my pain and anger(and fuck-up-ed-ness) can produce. Its Just cool clear type.
And on the whole “Your Role on Xanga” thing… Noone fits into just one stereotype. We are all multidimensional creatures! STEREOTYPES SUCK
