  • Major Relationships

When I was 15 years old, I had my first real relationship.  Her name was Janet.  It lasted a week.  She broke up with me and then she told me she wanted to go out again (We didn’t actually go anywhere.  We were just official).  That lasted about 2 weeks and then I broke up with her.

Then my second relationship was with Raquel.  I was 16 and it lasted about 2 and a half weeks.  I broke up with her.  I then decided I would not have another relationship with a woman unless I was going to marry her.

So I only went out with girls but would not make it official.

When I was 19, I started going out with my future wife.  We were in a relationship for 3 weeks and that was my longest relationship so I asked her to marry me.

I would define a relationship as something where you were not allowed to date someone else.

How many relationships have you had?

  • hahahaha wow dan. three weeks. that’s so cute. why am I never that fortunate?”relationships”? I’ve had three serious relationships. one I wouldn’t count as serious because I saw other men whilst I was with him the entire time, so. hah.

  • Two…I’m sad lol

  • you really asked her to marry you after three weeks? That’s bold, Dan.I’ve dated 4 girls in my short 19 year tenure.

  • Just two. One for a few months in 1977, and one that began in 1980 and is still going.

  • Well, a lot of my relationships were never official. EX: When I was a mistress to my married professor. so 2 “real” ones, both with engagements.

  • damn 3weeks!!! that’s so cute!!I’d say I’ve had 4 serious relationships…

  • 3 short term relationships. 1 long term relationship that turned into a marriage.

  • 2 “real” ones. One when I was in some sort of naive, drunken state of mind, and the other when I snapped out of it.

  • I didn’t know it was only 3 weeks.  WOW!  I’ve had way too many relationships….part of the reason was because i didn’t meet my husband till i was 25

  • All I want is a hug.

  • i was actually just talking about this with my best “guy” friend.  ive only had 4 real relationships…he came to realize the same…

  • How many relationships? Are you kidding me???  I must be getting senile cuz I can’t remember…

  • that’s how long it took you to know?

  • Let me think back on all of the girls I’ve dated…that would be just the one.

  • 5 before I met my husband

  • I’ve had between 8 and 10 relationships. I’m currently dating the man I intend to marry. This is the longest I’ve dated someone.

  • Eleven. Beginning at 12. I’m 22. My longest was just over 2 years. I am currently in a relationship that is 10 months old and going strong.

  • I’m not sure… well my first and serious relationship went on and off for 2 yr 11 months or something like so, I wouldn’t consider a few anything I guess talking or dating but meaningless but the the next one was not official a year a go for like 2 months who is now the guy I go to for advice for cars, guys… he became one of the best guy friends I’ve ever had and is always there to knock sense into me… haha, and dated one who wanted to be serious but wasn’t ready… a few weeks and the most recent not official as well … a few months. I guess I’m not good in relationships, apparently. Oh well… thanks so the lonely reminder… JK Dan!! At least I know they’re the ones I’ve been the most open with, so if they couldn’t accept me for who I am it’s for the best. :)

  • Not being “allowed” to date someone else implies that you are forced into a relationship. Your question says to me that people have not evolved much lately regarding dating . Sorry but it reeks of blackmail. I was never mature enough to have a true relationship to answer the question. I did everything against my will because i did not know any better. Now i’m old and free….

  • 3 that ever got that serious, including the girl I intend to spend the rest of my life with.

  • you asked her to marry you after 3 weeks?! you did not! hahaha how sweet though you guys have been together for so long! :)

  • Two. And hopefully a new one soon.

  • 1, if you asked me this question a year ago though I prob. would have said 2, but that guy’s a jerk!

  • Four; two of them lasted over a year (one of those almost made it to two), the third lasted two months and was an epic failure, and I’ve been in my current one for a little over five months now. I hope it lasts really really really really long. ^~^Yeah I’m only 17 (turning 18 soon)… *GULP* ><;;

  • Holly snap you asked her to marry you after 3 week. O.o; that would have freaked me out. I am sooooo slow with progress with my relationships because it takes years to get to know a person. My current on and off one is working on 5 years and im still in no hurry to marry. In a way i am envious because if it worked then thats epic but I am still extremely cautious

  • by the defintions u used in ur entry, 7 MaJor major ones, and hundred or so minor ones i lost count, im a serial dater, terrible isnt it? ;-p many people ask out, just cant meet the right person…

  • I once “went out” with someone for like 3 months at age 12. Never since have I “gone out” with someone. I’ve been on I think two dates, each with a different guy. But I have “hooked up” with a few guys and girls. I am not PURE, as the Godly folk say. If my sister found out I would have to repent.

  • i’ve had 3 relationships. i’m currently in one right now… and my parents got married after dating for about a month. i don’t think longevity of dating period has much of anything to do with a successful marriage.

  • wtf! Three weeks? You’re still like pretty much strangers!!! ><!!! HeheNice though! It worked!I’ve had a couple but only one that felt really special

  • The way I live my life, my thoughts, I must be in denial to sleep my nights in peace. I am hallucinating my way through life, my memories are illusions, my feelings come and go like the wind, my nightmare is heaven, I cannot feel the pain, there is tranquility with a feeling I am in much emotional pain, but my insanity prevents me from feeling the torture. As I write, I feel bad. I am incapable of happiness I see others have lives, and it kind of hurts to know my life is a waste. Same struggle, same empty feelings, and I got the feeling I will remain one shallow nothingness ghost till death comes and rescues me.I still have an obsession with her, I still listen to the same songs on you tube, no progress, just the same old standing still. Rock. I wish I could say better things. Being a rock sucks. I can’t enjoy life like the flow of water. I am the moon. I don’t know what keeps me intact. I need water. I need to breathe. My cursed fate. I got to keep searching for a reason to live. Down here in the deepest parts of an ocean, there is no sunlight, I feed off illusions, and right now, I am in need of an illusion.ILLUSION: if I am patient something good will come. What if nothing comes. Then search and you will find. I will wait and search for a glimmer of hope. While the world gets multiple joys in a day, I will wait for a moment’s worth of happiness, that one moment, and then its back to the darkness. I want to live in reality.

  • 3. 5 months was the shortest, 2 1/2 years was the longest.

  • 3 weeks isn’t considered long…but that’s nice you proposed to her.  =P

  • three. all lasting over a year.

  • I only had one major relationship that lasted 3 months. I never count the other ones because their love for me was always unrequited

  • By your definition? 1.Total? 2.I define a relationship as an emotional/romantic/sexual commitment. That doesn’t necessarily mean exclusivity, but it means operating within certain confines as decided by the people involved. I’ve been dating my boyfriend for almost 2.5 years and my girlfriend for about 6 months, and I’m accountable to both – and both are accountable to me. It’s not “dating stages” with either of them, but rather “relationship stages” with both./polyamory.

  • Five including the one I am in now… and this is my last one as we are getting married.

  • lol just one. dated many but only one really counted.

  • Whoa, it looks like we’ve both dated Raquels.

  • @GreenyMcCreeper - ((hug))ummmm…..4. chris, david, mike and now i’m married to jeff. :)

  • wow your is the speediest i’ve ever heard

  • Only two. I’m in my second one right now.

  • ha, well that’s the way I define relationship, but I feel like most people don’t define it that way.hmm… 8? Though one of those was for like 3 or 4 days. 6 that were of any significance.

  • I have had one serious relationship, and 3 that weren’t so serious.

  • zero relationships,   no datesnearly one  she asked my parents could she marry me in April 2010,   this was just after 5 minutes of meeting me the day before. (on holiday,  hotel entertainer team)

  • 2, including my current, unless you count chucky cheese’s in second grade, in which case 3. but i didn’t start dating til i was 19. lol so they’ve both been serious, i guess.

  • I’ve had 5 relationships, including the one I’m in now. My first one started when I was 14, and ended just before I turned 16. To me, length of a relationship won’t determine if I am going to marry the person if I decide I can ever settle down and actually get married. I get bored very easily. Very.Very.Easily.

  • Four. My late teens thru college boyfriend, the rebound from that breakup that happened to go over a year, my foreign love affair turned failed green card marriage, and my current relationship with the father of my son who I plan to be with forever

  • I don’t do relationships. I just use women for sex until I get tired of them and stop answering their phone calls. Oh, wait… just so I’m clear, this is one of those “opposite” posts, right?

  • holy shit only 3 weeks?I’m in my fourth.

  • When I was younger… I had a rule, if I went out (dated) a guy for three months if I didn’t think he was someone I could marry I stopped dating him… That went on until I was 18 then… I broke my rule and stayed in a relationship for four years that I knew I shouldn’t be in… broke up with him and less then a year later I was engaged to my husband the man that had been right under my nose the whole time and I almost missed him, my perfect match.

  • No, I’ve never been in one :D

  • this is the most random post I think I have ever seen you put together… It really doenst sound like you at all!! Weird.I’ve had somewhere between not enough and too many.  Not really sure where in that range though!

  • Like…10? Too many. I dated a lot in high school…until I met the love of my life in senior year. We’ve been together almost four years, and intend on getting engaged and married after I graduate college. (My longest relationship previously was around 4 months…with a break up in between. Ha.)Also…dated for three weeks before getting engaged? Jesus. I mean….I KNEW before three weeks…but I couldn’t see myself getting married before college.

  • Aww, that’s cute. In 9th grade (age 14), I dated a boy for 3 weeks and then I broke up with him. We’re still friends 5 years later. After that I had my first “serious” relationship for 1 1/2 years, and another one for 2 years, and my current one which is about 1 year and 2 months thus far. So 3 or 4, depending on what really “counts.”

  • I had one relationship and several crushes growing up. I still remember the names of the boys I thought ! could never live without….. even though I did. :)
