Military Lesbian Woman Kisses Partner
A photo of a woman kissing her partner after she got back from overseas is getting attention as the “First Kiss” after the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy has been removed.
Here is the video of the kiss:
Now people are going to say they don’t like to see people kissing whether they are straight or gay. But that is besides the point because gay and lesbian kissing gets attention while straight kissing gets no attention.
So answer honestly.
Are you more uncomfortable with this kiss
Than you are with this kiss?

Nope. No problem with either of them.
They both show affection, but the two girls at least know each other. The story of the WWII photo is that the guy just kissed the first girl he saw, upon entering Times Square.
not at all
I think both images convey the same sentiment.
Kissing someone because you know and like them, doesn’t make me uncomfortable. A guy grabbing a woman on the street and kissing her–yeah, uncomfortable.
A kiss i a kiss, is a kiss…
No problem at all. One shows the love for a partner, the other for being back home where FREEDOM rings. That’s all that matters. Public be damned!
Neither one makes me uncomfortable; although, if someone were going to try for the moral high ground, at least the women know and are dating each other, unlike the man in the other photo who was tonguing every woman he saw in the street.
Not a problem with either of them…love is love, plain and simple.
*shrugs* Given the circumstances, neither of them bother me.
No matter. If someone fought for our country, they deserve to kiss whomever they well please.
The second one makes me uncomfortable. Maybe it is just the resolution, but it looks like he is literally trying to swallow her face.
Honestly, no it doesn’t make me uncomfortable. I think it’s sweet as hell.
seemed a bit contrived…. meh..
Oh gawd disgusting. fucking burn them at the stake. jesus
They don’t look that different from one another.
I’m much more uncomfortable with the two women kissing.
Hey, you wanted me to be honest.
Honestly, yes. But some people are more uncomfortable hearing knuckles crack than watching murder on tv. So.
Woohoo!!
I’m comfortable with both. Gay couples kissing don’t bother me at all. Everyone deserves to be happy.
Neither bother me. The female couple is cute btw
If I didn’t know the backstory behind either photo, I would not be uncomfortable with either.
Knowing both backstories, I am actually far more comfortable with the photo of the two women. They are in a loving relationship and have been for what sounds like years. The guy just picked a random woman off the street. While the photo is iconic, I prefer the two women.
I don’t really care about either of them, but I do think it’s kind of stupid that the newer one is staged. It sounded like they got to be the iconic first recorded military lesbian kiss because they won a contest or something. Whatever.
Coming from a standpoint of a Active Duty Marine who got discharged not to long ago, I have no problem with 2 girls kissing, I do have a problem with her doing it in her Dress Uniform. I also do not like that they are hyping it all up because it is a lesbian kiss. I am just curious why there is the media at this homecoming? When I returned from my deployment to Aghanistan and from my deployment to Southeast Asia there was no one there but the families. No media, no big hype, just a large group of family and friends and it was good. Did they call the media to let them know? Just my 2 cents.
@Lost_In_Reverie - The guy also is celebrating V-J day, back when sailors actually saw combat, and deployments didn’t end after a few months. Just to level the field.
na, I love it
@npr32486 - Understood, but the romantic side of me has been momentarily overtaken by the side that would be seriously pissed if a guy did that to me.
What?!? Trolling for homophobes and can’t find any? Kissing?!? Who cares!
I don’t care. People kiss. Big fucking deal.
Nope. Both cute.
That second picture was kiss rape, that sailor didn’t know the nurse, so yeah sailors rape kissing someone in public is worse than two hot chicks kissing :3
I was taught to love and accept everyone whether I agreed with them or not, but I’m still uncomfortable with homosexuality. I don’t know why; I’m not uncomfortable with the people apart but I just feel weird seeing them kiss because I was taught it was wrong.
Should’ve been two guys, I bet the response would be a bit different
I have absolutely no problem with any of this. Your sexual preferences should have nothing to do with your serving the military. I am happy that they’re finally doing something about the don’t ask don’t tell policy.
love is expressed with both images. why cant they both be betrayed like the other.
I think it’s easy to deliberately go against the perceived flow and choose the second picture as being more awkward than the first.
In truth, neither particularly bother me when I look at them, though.
Answering honestly- The gay couple makes me a little edgy. I don’t have a problem with gays, I just grew up in the south, and stuff like that is uncommon. It shocks me for a second every time I see it.
Well, a sailor kissing a stranger on a street is more disturbing, IMHO.
As far as the first picture I would just stare and think “WOW”. I agree with Beaker. If a person is in the military and wear the uniform he or she represents an “ideal”. It’s also difficult for those who want to raise children in the traditional sense. Take the uniform off, sister!
Listen man I can’t believe how deep of a control you are trying to insert on your readers. This is all quite sexes. I mean, is this plan of yours to literally place us all in a boxes ? Don’t we have enough of those that we need to check when we fill out a form ? I mean there is enough descrimination out there without this master plan of yours. This master race that you are trying create will not fly, bro! It failed in World War 1 and you can bet your booty it will fail now.
I honestly love the 2nd one because of the history of it. He was happy to be home and alive. I know that the 1st one shows that they are happy they can kiss in public now, and I’m happy for them but the 2nd one speaks to me more.
@Lost_In_Reverie - This. Thank you. The second photo is very famous, but few people know the backstory behind it. If they did, they’d probably like it a lot less. In fact, what the guy did might even be a crime and/or a tort, although I am not a lawyer.
There’s something being shoved down somebody’s throat here. And I’m not being tongue in cheek.
Actually I find both rather disgusting.
I think they both deserve their own place in history.
@TheSchizoidMan - I’m not sure about that either, I just know that, as a woman, I would not have appreciated it if someone did that to me. The reason I know the backstory is because I actually really liked the photo when I first saw it, but I like it less now having found out that he just grabbed a random girl and kissed her.
A kiss is just a kiss but I am happy that the kiss between the two women can no longer end somebody’s military career.
It’s very wrong because both of these women are hot. Only fat chicks should be lesbians.
Nah, neither pic bothers me.
Thanks Barack Obama. It’s still improper whether it’s legal or not.
@grammarboy - the article i read on it said that it was a raffle they held every time for the “first kiss” off the boat, which means that throughout history its been hundreds of heterosexual couples winning and doing it because gay couples weren’t allowed. its not really staged or contrived – you could argue that it was rigged this time, but, tons of raffles are rigged all the time. shrug. anyway, neither picture bothers me, and the first one has a more touching story behind it.
Cute! No problem with it.
She fought for our country.
Even if she didn’t, I don’t see orientation as a barrier for human connections.
With the help of those astute enough, i now find the bottom picture profoundly disturbing. Imagine what it can do to a nation. After having seen this picture for decades it never occured to me that it was wrong until someone pointed it out. Again the truth has to be told aloud and not kept inside.
Both are fine. And I’m glad that gay couples can kiss now. I have a lot of gay friends in the military and I am so glad that they can now openly be who they are without any fear of being dishonorably discharged.
@RighteousBruin - That’s exactly what I was going to point out.
@grammarboy - Actually both were staged. I saw a program where the photographer of the second one just kind grabbed two people so he could get an awesome shot.
@Beaker0111 - I was in the Navy and while my deployments never made the news, I have seen many newscasts about returning ships. It happens.
I’m uncomfortable reading your so-called blog.
Disgusting. Also, breaks the “No PDA in uniform” policy, but I guess that doesn’t matter, either.
They are both beautiful photos.
Since they’re all consenting adults, why the fuck does it matter?
A kiss is a kiss. Doesn’t matter to me if it’s between man and woman, two women, or two men.
No…you have to find love wherever you can in this wworld…it is on short supply.
I have no problem with either of them. I have seen the video of the Lady kiss and I think it’s wonderful! Both photos are beautiful to me and both for their individual stories surrounding the people in them… Essentially, regardless of who is in the picture gay/straight/disabled/blind/black/white/orange, it is two people who are in love….How can you judge that?
@TiredSoVeryTired - Thank you for the info, I only know about my Unit in the Marines so I had no clue they did things like that When the Navel ship came into port. Also I why I said the only thing I had a problem with was her in her dress uniform is because I know in the Marines there is not supposed to be any PDA in uniform, but I also understand it happens, just like any deployment.
Just remember this, a kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh…
Now that song will be in my head all day.
I have no problem with either to make a big deal is just silly
@Beaker0111 - In the Navy there are exceptions for special times, when it comes to PDA. Yeah, you can never totally make out in uniform, but when your ship returns to port it’s a big deal and some PDA is often allowed. I mean you need to often be in uniform to leave the ship, so they aren’t gonna not let you kiss someone after you just spent six months serving on a ship at sea.
Doesn’t bother me. I consider it a nonstory.
Did anyone notice the other things common in both pictures is that both returning from the ship have a great and similar tan.
There’s NEVER anything wrong with two attractive women making out.
No problem with either kiss. In fact the two women kissing is far more interesting.
I think both pictures are just beautiful
I’m not bothered by either one.
