yes I have noticed. I bought my first watch 1 year ago – and I’m wearing it ever since… so I’m bucking the trend.
I can’t pull my phone out in class or in church. So yeah, I wear a watch.
No, wristwatches feel bulky and uncomfortable to me.
I wear a watch.
No, I do not wear a watch. I never have, lol, even before I got a phone.
Nope… never wore a wristwatch, I used to have several that clipped onto my beltloop. Now I just use my phone…
Yes
I love watches! I always have one on my wrist.
I go out with a watch many more times than with a cell-phone.
*fewer
Not lately
I can’t tell time.
no and I tend to find guys wearing a watch less attractive for some reason
I wear a Movado
Sometimes, I like watches.
no I do not!
there’s usually a clock around somewhere haha
You are right. But still need a sport watch and sometimes, watch is treated as fashion.
yes i have 2
Nope
I want to wear a watch because I get sick of digging my watch out of my purse all the time when I need to check the time!
Don’t need a watch, the time is now.
I have multiple watches so I always wear one.
I do, actually.
NO
Not very often anymore. I like that a watch is no longer a necessity; jewelry irritates my skin and it’s a pain to special order watchbands from the clock repair shop.
Always
I sometimes wear a watch. I hardly ever carry a cell phone.
They irritate my wrists.
Yes, I have a leather analog watch that I only take off during swimming and showering. I’ve worn a watch since I was like 4. I guess I just think it’s cool. And easier to check the time with than a cell phone.
I used to wear a watch. Mainly because I used to go to a school that had clocks in very few rooms, and all hell would break loose if the teacher spotted you checking the time on your phone. Now that I am out of public school, I find I have little need for a watch ^^.
Yeah! But sometimes I carry a pocket watch instead! It’s been around 105 years longer than my cell phone…
i only wear my watch for work. but aside from work, no i don’t. it’s annoying i think lol.
I have a really nice watch around here somewhere, but no, I haven’t worn one in ages. I totally depend on my cell phone, car clocks, house clocks.
Ive always wanted a cute Girly hello kitty it Barbie pink looking wrist watch that made cutsie sounds or funky beeping noises as a kid. Sadly my mom would complain they’re pricey or shell get it next pay check or soon and I’d get all giddy wait and forget about it….long story short I never got. Chance to get one. Now that I think about it I really wan a get a cool modern looking one with an awesome UV glow. Even if my cell has the time I’ll just use it as a fashion statement.
Mine broke, so I got a pocket watch. It makes me feel like a bad ass.
It is 10 o’clock darling….
It’s all bullshit, though, because I get asked for the time at least twice a day because everyone notices I’m wearing a watch.
I wish I could but allergies prevent me from wearing nice watches.
Most of the time I will wear one..when I remember to..Mostly to accessorize my outfit. not so much to tell time..They have a way of making my wrist feel constricted..almost like wearing socks to bed..LOL
I asked for a watch for Christmas and got one. I like having something on my wrist because it’s a pain to dig through my purse to find my phone.
no, it’s been replaced by my cellphone for years
I wear a plastic beater watch 98% of the time and a Sinn 256 the other 2%. Recently been using a garmin forerunner I got for christmas though.
great job. Another stupid pointless question that nobody cares about.
more than often now.
I can’t pull my phone out at work so I’ve been wearing a watch recently
I go through phases. Right now I’m not in a real watch wearing phase, but when I was working retail, you bet I had my watch on since we couldn’t have phones on the floor.
No. I do have a pocket watch, though, because I’m cool.
I love the look of a good watch. Never leave my house without mine.
Not anymore. The band broke, and I never bothered to replace it, because I have an itouch… LOL
Thats absolutely false.I am a watch collector i can’t imagine me going out without a watch on my wrist even though i have 3 cell phone
digital wrist watch.
I don’t own a smart phone, as for a mobile phone I stuffed mine in the down stairs cupboard.
There are clocks around the town centre and parking metres, I compare it to make sure my watch is the right time.
I used to do just fine without one. But it’s required in school, so I’ve grown used to it. It is very uncomfortable when typing, though.
I did but wasn’t pleased with my tan line.
Watches are still a fashion statement. You don’t wear your watch anymore because you can’t find the batteries for that mickey mouse time teller of yours. Tell ya what, since I like you, next time I go to Disney World, I’ll bring you a full pack of those mouse batteries so at least you won’t be late for your next appointment.
Always, definitely. It would be incredibly annoying for me to have to have a free hand in order to check the time. I can also check the time when I’m talking on the phone. And my watch doesn’t need to be charged every five days. My watch isn’t at risk of falling out of my pocket if I sit wrong. My watch doesn’t annoy everyone within three seats of me in the movie theater if I want to check the time. My watch doesn’t need to be turned off around sensitive electrical equipment or on airplanes. I don’t have to worry about my watch falling out of my hand into a puddle or a jagged bit of sidewalk if I’m checking the time in a hurry, and even if it did, it’d be perfectly fine.
So yeah, I wear a watch.
nope. haven’t worn one since high school. that was also about the same time cellphones were invented.
Not since 2004. That watch died and I was too lazy to get it fixed or buy a new one. Eventually realized I didn’t want or need to.
I have 3 watches. I like wearing one. It is easier than pulling out the cell phone, and it, to me, is a form of jewelry.
If I don’t wear my glasses, I can’t see. If I don’t wear my watch I’m not fully clothed.
I wear a watch, but it’s mostly a habit.
I wear one usually just at work. But I rarely look at it.
I’ve been wearing a watch since I was in the 2nd grade. I’m definitely a Type A personality who loves to plan and think ahead, so wearing a watch is essential for me. I feel naked if I leave the house without a watch!
Side note: For everyone who refuses to wear a watch, do you get to use your cell phone during the work day? I do not, which I guess is another reason I rely so heavily on my watch to tell me the time.
I actually see more people with it.. it’s a stylish thing.
Nope. But I also don’t even have a cell phone.
No, I think they are tacky.
Nope. Even as a kid, I lost them alot, so I keep my phone handy.
Pretty much from the first time I got a watch (age 9 or 10?) I was never without one — for the years I had a waterproof watch, this included in the shower as well as in bed — until the last three or four years, when I wore it less and less because it got in the way of typing. Now I’m working somewhere I don’t have access to a computer and I’d rather look at my wrist than dig my phone out to know the time, but all my watches had dead batteries. I took one to Target where it took me 20 minutes to hunt an employee down to even talk about it. She told me, “We don’t replace watch batteries anymore; we lost the tool. Have you tried Sears?” That was four months ago and I still have no watch So I want to wear a watch. Just circumstances are preventing me.
I don’t wear a watch for two reasons. One, I am a bit more magnetic than the next person and thus they don’t last that long for me. and Two, I don’t like things on my wrists. BUT, while I don’t wear a watch, I also don’t have a cell phone or anything like that. So I definitely buck that trend. When I am out and about I always have to aske people the time.
if I do it’s because I find my watch pretty.
I once read an article about time management and stress management and how the two can be combined. To sum it up, it was telling the reader that having a time keeping device strapped to you was kind of like having a bomb strapped to you…it created a lot of pressure and stressed you to make everything about how fast you were getting things done. Think about how often you might glance at your watch in a day? It further suggested to either keep your watch in your pocket or to forgo the watch altogether and use a cell phone if you really needed to know the time (this was earlier so cell phones weren’t AS common as now). I thought it made a lot of sense, however, I’ve never been able to successfully wear a watch because they feel too constricting.
Indeed I do! And on the rare occasion I am able to dress nice and formal I have a wind-up pocket watch on a chain that my dad gave me.
I feel naked without one.
they say only capitalists wear watches…
they clearly forgot runners do to. actually we had a discussion of this in class one day, in a class of 300+ only 20 people wore a watch
Nope
Nope, I have never really worn one though.
Guilty as charged….no watch for me.
I wore a watch to work, bc we couldn’t carry our phones on the floor. From day to day life, no, I don’t.
I wear a watch because it has the tide chart.
I never wore a watch so I will not miss them much….and I also have noticed that wall clocks are disappearing and I wish they would but them back because people like me who do not want to own a cell phone (they are annoying and I lose them to easily) are dependent on them and their disappearance has made my life a bit harder and more frustrating,,,lol,,,But then again I am like Peter Pan and J.M Barrie (his creator) time is not relevant in most areas of my life. So I kind of enjoy the disappearance of all clocks…it adds to my sense timelessness and eternity. Watches made me feel constrained and so do wall clocks to a degree. And they served as a constant of my mortality. Not always a good thing.
No, not because of cell phones, I just don’t care for the way they feel.
Only from Monday to Friday.
I wear a watch.
I hate having to check my phone for the time.
I hate watches. I only wear them when I’m working.
I do wear a watch. AND I carry my cell phone with me less and less. I’m rebelling against the onslaught of messages, emails, txts, and info I don’t want, and managing WHEN I want to allow people to get into my “space.” It’s not that I don’t love technology, its just that we all need boundaries and personal freedom.
Yes and almost everyone I know still does…
You know how they say that one way to get a lot of comments is to have a spelling error in your title? How about a grammatical error in your first line that is posted on the front page. It should be “Have you noticed that FEWER people are wearing a watch?” I’m not even sure that is quite correct though, because well: One person is wearing a watch. People are wearing watches. Just thought I’d point that out… and no, I hadn’t noticed. And no, I don’t usually wear a watch because they bother me.
Yes I do. Still comes in handy, especially with military stuff. @sometimestheycomebackanyway - Why are you checking the time in church? =P
What do you mean no one is wearing a watch? I wear a Flavor Flav necklace clock everyday. Homie.
Yep. Well, when I’m in uniform I always wear my sports watch. Sometimes I’ll go out and buy a relatively cheap fashionable watch, but usually in regular clothes I’m not in a watch (or I’ll just wear my sports watch).
I have a few but for whatever reason, they’re not working. At work, there’s wall clocks (that are still battery operated… I would love to back to when my high school where the majority of the clocks were digital). And even when I’m not working, I’ve always got my phone with me.
My ex wore a watch all of the time. It’s a bit of a turn on now to see a guy (within my generation) wearing one. I don’t think a lot of guys my generation that wear one that I’ve noticed.
Never wear a watch ever since I got my cellphone. It’s easier for me.
I always wear a watch
I don’t wear a watch, but I keep it in my book bag.
Watches are a great accessory. Convenient to glance at w/o pulling out your phone
I’m retired
good observation
I wear one and have been since I was 9 maybe. I feel weird with out one
Wow, a post dated Sunday January 29 has comments dated January 28. A lot of clairvoyant people!
just got a new one for Christmas. my old one was plastic and didn’t go well with my work uniform. it was falling apart anyway; i’d had it for a while. my new one is analog and it’s simple, but nice. granted, i can’t wear it daily because of my nickel allergy.. but i like having it.
I only recently began to wear a watch again, (man’s scuba watch) because my cell phone is too bulky to have in my pocket at work and a purse is just too much to keep up with.
I am allergic to leathers and plastics (and metals as well), so even if I wanted to wear one, I couldn’t. It bothers my skin SO bad. I cant wear belts as well.. A week ago I wore a belt for about an hour. My stomach still has a slight rash from it
true. n i rarely wear one as the result of it. then again, i’ve never been a fan of wearing one either. when i do, it’s out of necessity. this is why more and more watches are designed now a days to look more like a piece of jewelry to entice people to start wearing them again.
I have noticed that very few people wear watches, but in the health care world I have to wear a watch to take vitals and other important information.
Normally I do, but since mine broke I am currently watchless.
