  • Would You Accept These Crooked Teeth?

I was reading the pulse of Nightcometh and she asked, “Does the state of someone’s teeth affect how you feel about him/her?”

I want to apply this to relationships and how attracted you are to a person.

Would teeth be a deal breaker in a relationship?

  • This is probably really shallow, but yes. I like nice, straight teeth.

  • Just get braces. Then true love can happen.

  • I can’t look past jacked up teeth, regardless of the person.

  • Of course. I don’t need perfect straight teeth, but if your mouth looks like someone turned the utensil tray upside down, I’ll probably pass.

  • No. I have braces myself, but I think crooked teeth can be adorable. I prefer some “character” as opposed to a uniform chiclet smile.

  • Not if they are messed up.  Now if they are brown and yellow and gross then yes.  Ew.

  • I agree with the person that said not if they are brown or yellow. But crookedness I have learned to deal with because my boyfriend has crooked teeth. Although I must admit, it was a deal breaker for me at first. Now I don’t even notice them =]

  • I’ve been known to think that a smile like that on a girl is kinda adorable. The only man that has a “different” smile that I’ve been attracted to is my husband. He has straight teeth, but he shows a lot of gums. It’s something about him that makes him unique. :)

  • 100% deal breaker for me, a nice smile is mega important for me… same thing with good hygiene, nice hair, clean skin…

  • if you saw me over here, I thought I saw you’d blogged on the kid that got shot and killed with no arrest yet even though we know who did it. But I don’t see that one, maybe it was someone else. This blog, I don’t have much of a comment on.

  • Neither of the ones in the pics look bad to me. Crooked teeth (unless they are really bad) do not turn me off. But dirty-looking teeth do. As long as they’re clean, I’m happy.  Mine are slightly crooked and I refuse to have them straightened. I like my crooked teeth!

  • I have really crooked teeth.  I can’t afford $6,000 braces right now.  That’s not my fault :(

  • Oh my GAWD. Those teeth are awful!! I don’t know. To an extent. It’s kind of important in overall attractiveness. I wouldn’t date either of those two. But a little crooked is fine.

  • I had an ex friend-with-benefits partner that I refused to date because his teeth bothered me so much. Thank god we usually had sex with the lights off and he had a big dick.

  • i used to think so, but my most recent ex had a ridiculously fucked up grill but I loved him anyway

  • I can look past teeth. My first boyfriend had crooked teeth.

  • crooked teeth are not a problem what so ever.

  • jacked teeth make me cringe

  • total deal breaker

  • I have a over bite :( … My husband top row are perfect! His lower row two teeth slightly overlap… If I said it was a deal braker I would suck… It’s funny though because all the guys I dated had great shaped teeth.

  • my current someone has a crooked smile and a chipped tooth in the front… I love it!

  • @smile4leena - Girly… Just had to tell you… You are beautiful :D

  • :  American culture places an unrealistically high value on straight teeth, which is interesting since almost none of us have them naturally.  Oh well.  I can’t stand noticeably crooked teeth like the ones you showed.  A few twisted teeth isn’t a biggie though.

  • I don’t think we should judge others on their teeth.  It’s all about who you are on the inside!

  • Teeth aren’t a deal breaker, but they are close.

  • Nice teeth is my first physical/superficial deal-breaker, yes.

  •   No, teeth wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. My dad has a bad crooked front tooth, which I inherited from him. I was SO self-conscious about it, until an accident at my old job gave me a shiny new straighter tooth!! ^.^ Anyways, my current boyfriend doesn’t have the best of teeth, but he does take care of them and has a nice smile, so I don’t notice :-3

  • I’m not a huge fan of really terrible teeth–but my bottom teeth have refused to stay as straight as I want, despite braces and retainer-diligence. Dirty-looking teeth are a lot worse than crooked ones, though.

  • I think the hygiene of teeth is more of a deal breaker rather than straightness, but it also depends on the degree of crookedness.  If one can’t close his/her mouth, chew easily or be able to clean their teeth properly…then that can be a deal breaker.  Missing teeth?  That could be a problem.

  • I mean, teeth can be fixed…though rotting teeth I wouldn’t buy haha, that’s your own fault

  • most important is EATING WITH YOUR FUCKING MOUTH CLOSED : )

  • it depends if he has other redeeming factors. straight teeth are great but I can’t stand buck teeth even if they are straight. tiger woods’ smile annoys me. or those giant joker smiles that those miss universe contestants have are scary even if they have straight teeth. or abnormally white teeth(veneers probably) with a tanned complexion that anna nicole smith had don’t appeal to me. straight but not too freaky looking so that it still looks human lol colin egglesfield’s smile is dreamy

  • My teeth are not perfect,  I got a difficult mouth and I quite embrassed about it,    I go the dentist  (braces did not work for me,  the dentist wanted me to have something done to my jaw when I was about eight,   but my parents did not want me to go through with it at the time,    I don’t blame them for that.     at least I went to the dentist.

I perfer personality,  if the person has work done on teeth to improved smile I will be fine about it if that what she wanted to do,    if not as long their got teeth false or not,  braces, implants, crowns, inlays etc.

  • Nope… I’m more into straight teeth. But they might have better luck in Japan, I heard they have a thing for crooked teeth there.

  • Crooked teeth don’t really bother me because you’re kind of born with that, and not everyone can afford dental care. But rotten/filthy teeth are a massive deal breaker for me. That’s your fault and it’s just nasty.

  • “I was reading the pulse of Nightcometh and she asked, “Does the state of someone’s teeth affect how you feel about him/her?”  – annnndddd you thought that would make a great blog so you stole her idea? I mean, of course, you only borrowed her idea and introduced it to a larger audience adding a link to draw attention back to her site. ;-P Teeth can be fixed fairly easily it seems silly and rather short sighted to make something so easily corrected into a “deal breaker”. Something like stealing? Now that would be a deal breaker for sure

  • not to sound rude but i think this post is really shallow, i have been in that position, infact i finaly got my braces off a month ago. before witch my teeth were worse than that of the pictures. but honestly i dont think it makes a damn difference

  • I don’t think these are too bad. I also agree with the people who don’t mind crooked teeth as much but brown/yellow teeth. Or if a tooth was missing it woud probabaly bother me.

  • @DrummingMediocrity - ur right, americans do place high values on teeth. i’ve noticed that alot of beautiful ppl have had braces, and if it wasnt for braces, there would be alot of ugly ppl. also, my teeth is my biggest turn off, i feel like when girls see my gap, they’re instantly turned off…oh well. maybe i’ll find someone that loves me for who i am, and not because braces made me handsome.

  • I like crooked teeth for the same reason I like tattoos; they show personality. Now, lack of either won’t make or break you in my book and, as with all things, there are just some people who can’t “pull off” a look but… crooked teeth are so adorable. Now, rotted teeth would be a deal breaker

  • Crooked teeth don’t bother me. Never-brushed, rotting teeth would be a deal breaker.

  • Hell yes, straight teeth are very important. Having teeth is very important.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ectodermal_dysplasia. Do normal people know how lucky they are to have teeth.

  • Sometimes crooked teeth look cute!

It really depends on how they look on the person. I guess it comes down to the eyes, smile, and everything else– you know, the person you see.

Meth mouth is definitely a turn off though. Haha obviously I tend to get wet around someone who takes care of themself. I mean.. if not, then you probably won’t take care of me either, right?

  • It depends. If they’re a little crooked then I can get past it. If they’re yellow, caked with plaque or are just generally not taken care of then no, I can’t get past it. & yes, I understand some people just can’t afford dental care but if my teeth were that bad I would specifically find a job that covered dental.

  • Keira Knightley has crooked teeth and I’d still date her. http://www.bagofnothing.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/kienteeth4.jpg

Evgeni Malkin is leading the NHL in points with 93 and has crooked teeth. http://www.flickr.com/photos/evad310/3341946247/

  • Definitely not a deal-breaker for me.  He or she can always go see an orthodontist…no biggie.

  • whats funny is I always, always, ALWAYS said teeth had to be perfect, and everyone I’ve dated (aside from my current boyfriend) did have perfect teeth..

my current boyfriend’s teeth aren’t perfect, but they aren’t bad, either. So I guess it depends on HOW crooked they are – and its nice to know I’m flexible :P

  • Teeth are the first thing I notice about someone. It tells a lot about the person! lol. If they aren’t clean…..then, yes, I would absolutely mind. They don’t necessarily have to be straight. Just clean. But, the two people in the picture are totally grossing me out. I know, I totally contradicted myself there…but oh well. ;/

  • I dated a boy in HS with crooked teeth. I felt bad that his parents didn’t take are of them but once someone is an adult, they should get them fixed!

  • @Nine_Inch - Aw, well I have no idea how bad yours is.  If it’s not that bad, then it’s probably OKAY.  The photos that Dan showed on this blog though are of pretty bad teeth which I’d say no to.

  • Mr Dan, yourself:  Are your teeth crooked?

IDK why, but I feel like crooked teeth on a man make him look effeminate.  So I find them to be a bit more acceptable (to a point) on females.  The ones above are definitely too crooked in general, though.  Mine were much better BEFORE I had braces.

Mine aren’t perfect anymore but they are still fairly straight because I had braces in HS.  I have been wearing my retainers again to help straighten em out.  Usually when I wear them all night my teeth are almost perfect by morning.  I wish they would stay!!

  • Teeth, I am not sure I have an opinion.

  •   my teeth aren’t crooked.  They are up in the center of my mouth or up in my gums, which is uber gross.  It looks like I’m missing teeth. I wouldn’t date me.

  • I’ve dated a guy with really crooked teeth. I dont base that on the person. I have actually fairly straight teeth, and I have never gotten braces

  • Yes they’d be a deal breaker, those teeth make me think gum and heart disease.  Oral health is important to me for many reasons, and teeth like that can’t be healthy for your gums for a life time.  I got braces when I was 33 and so now my teeth are even more straight.  I just had an issue with two teeth but it was causing me problems with my gums.  Dental insurance should fully cover braces, it is preventive health IMO.

  • When I went to Europe, I noticed there seemed to be a smaller percentage of people with straight teeth than in the US, where I’m originally from. But I still thought the percentage of good-looking people was about the same. ;) So I guess teeth don’t have much to do with that in my opinion.

  • People with crooked teeth are assholes and I hope they all fucking die.

  • A slightly crooked smile has character. A jacked up set of choppers would be a deal breaker. Now dirty teeth I absolutely cannot abide by. I have a hard time even talking to people with nasty teeth. I usually can’t look them in the face. It’s possible that I’ll go to hell for being shallow.

  • Well this sure is encouraging.

“Hey Mom, have you seen that flyer for Perfect Smilz?”

  • @Shadowrunner81 - You consider Keira’s teeth crooked?  Damn, someone’s got high standards. I’d consider her teeth in need of some good brushing though.  I have a feeling shes’ got the straightest teeth in all of England, tbh with you.  In other news, Keira Knightley looks just like me if I didn’t have body fat, and gave my boobs up for adoption.

  • It more depends on how well cared for the teeth are. I don’t like straight teeth if they look scummy. So I would say dental hygiene is more important to me then someone having a perfectly positioned grill.

  • There is a different between someone with “a few crooked” teeth and someone with “jacked up” teeth.

I myself have two teeth (on either side of my two front teeth) that are slightly pushed back and one tooth on the bottom that is slightly slightly turned. I’ve never had braces, I don’t want braces, I don’t mind my teeth and I wouldn’t / don’t mind if my partner has teeth that aren’t perfectly straight.

Actually, when I met my partner, he had perfect perfect teeth, but 9 years later and 8 years of no longer wearing his retainer his teeth have gone back to how they were, and it’s totally fine it me, I think it’s cute.

    @DrummingMediocrity -
TOTALLY agree! We do put way too much importance on straight teeth. I wonder what country in the world pays the most for orthodontics..?

  • If you dont  take care of your face, you probably don’t take care of your dick, either.  If your teeth are gnarly, I don’t want you going down on me.  If he’s not eatin, I’m not playing with him!

  • Depends on the actual condition of the their teeth. If it’s obvious that the person just doesn’t brush their teeth or take care of them and they’re coincidentally crooked, then I’d probably choose not to be in a relationship with them until they made a change to both vices. If the person’s teeth are simply crooked and they can’t help but have problems with them not being perfect or straight, it wouldn’t really bother me. My boyfriend’s teeth are a little awkward and crooked and I remain content.

Very interesting question, I appreciate that you asked.

  • I was luckil born with very straight teeth. i couldn’t imagine kissing anybody with horrible teeth, but a little crooked is not matter. It’s kinda cute, even.

  • Acceptable if she is Asian.

  • Yes and no, I think it would depend on the severity of their teeth… discolored and rotten are def. a no go.

  • are those your teeth dan?

  • I totally get off on jacked up teeth. So I’d be all about it.

  • I don’t require perfect teeth, just as long as the smile looks nice.

  • Some what, yes. Because you will be kissing that mouth, so smokers – bye bye.

  • Those crooked teeth are gross.

I prefer a nice clean smile. Crooked teeth are an eye sore.
