  • Making Money Off The Death Of Your Son

The mother of Trayvon Martin has applied for trademarks of the phrases “I am Trayvon” and “Justice for Trayvon.”

Her son was killed after he attacked an Hispanic neighborhood watch leader and punched him in the face and shoved his face in the concrete.  Here is the link:  Link

Most people would be mourning the death of their child.  But his parents see a great opportunity for money (They probably need to buy more marijuana).

Do you think it is wrong to make money off the death of your child?

  • At least you’re consistently offensive. That’s something.

  • LOL BLACK PEEPOL. AMIRITE?

  • Isn’t that what God did?

  • It’s wrong for other people to make money off the death of their child. I might do the same if people were selling tee-shirts and bumper stickers and DVDs with my dead child’s name on them.

  • The events of that day are still unclear. I’m sure the family would rather have their son alive than any amount of money. And to blame this supposed self-defence killing on marijuana is laughable at best.

  • They ARE black. Black people love making money while doing absolutely nothing to earn it.

  • We should chat about this sometime

  • all I’m going to say on this matter is the word is supposed to be “mourning”

other than that I’m staying far away from this!

  • Edgy lately. I’ve been gone away from xanga too long.

  • The whole situation is tragic.

It is amusing to watch everyone finding fun ways to be racist while pretending not to be, though.  And as usual many of the self-proclaimed paragons of sensitivity are some of the worst offenders.

  • He ain’t around no more to sell drugs or commit robberies so she’s got to replace that income somehow. Bitch got a lifestyle to maintain.

  • watching FOX again? that was the stalker Zimmerman’s story which the lead detective does not believe. the lead investigator wanted to charge Zimmerman but was overruled by the State Attorney. the State Attorney has since been removed from the case. and if you haven’t noticed both his parents have been mourning their son’s death. what the hell kind of father are you that you can relate more to FOX than to the pain of the parents?

  • This is a great question. Karilyn Bales went on the Today Show to defend her husband, Robert. Did she do it for free? Nope. Were they having financial issues? Yep.

I suppose my curiousity is in knowing whether it is a message that they want to get out in order to honour their loved one, or whether it is just for financial gain. Reckon it could be both…

  • @TheSutraDude -

There you go again defending hoodlums. Trayvon Martin would have taken your wallet and popped a cap in your pale white ass before pissing on your corpse. You should be grateful to George Zimmerman for ensuring that shit won’t happen to you now.

  • Isn’t there anthing better to talk about? Folks are being slaughtered in Syria as we write.

  • Who knows what really happened and what is really happening now.Everyone has their agenda so they support their agenda to get whatever they can out of it.If one of my kids were killed in a terrible thing like this, whatever money came from it I’d use for funeral services and any other money that came in,give it to a worthy cause that REALLY helps people in need, not the workers doing the work.

  • if I wear my bunny suit hoodie, then the bearded yosemite sams will likely hunt me down and steal my m&ms

  • We will just keep applying political pressure just to make sure justice is aborted.

  • Danny, I think you were the guy in school who always managed to escape right before getting your ass kicked for saying something ostensibly offensive ;)
You’re my favie sarcastic provoker.  All the housewives must love hearing your gossipz.

  • that is so wrong. how could they even think of something like that at a time like this ? -____-

  • There are other reasons for trademarks than just making money. People can be absolute assholes.

  • @TheSutraDude - The need to deny reality and blame it on someone, anyone is getting worse by the moment.

In your corner of the alternate universe have the Black Panthers set a $10,000 bounty on the guy who doesn’t happen to be black?

  • Why is reporting the news being offensive?

  • @sometimestheycomebackanyway - Curtis aka Loborn and whoever else you pose as, nobody lives in your idea of reality.

as for the Black Panther bounty….i told you in in Theo Dan’s last post i in no way condone a bounty, end of story and i also questioned if you had just learned the guy is not white but Hispanic, something you seem only to have discovered when anyone paying attention to the story new that….and what does the shooter’s race matter anyway apart from him calling the kid he shot “a fucking coon”. do you not know how to read? i think you know how to read. you’re like the kid in grade school drumming on his desk and blurting out stupid remarks to get attention. its somewhat excusable in elementary school but a man in his 40s? sorry but it’s no longer cool or cute. twisting people’s words, misrepresenting what they’ve said, lying about what they said fits your psychological profile.

  • @TheSutraDude - I rest my case.

Ground control to Major Dood. Take your protein pill and don’t forget to clean your drool.

  • Fucking niggers

  • @sometimestheycomebackanyway - i’m happy you’ve rested your case as many people have seen your ground control and protein pill comment to me from yesterday already and have already made their decision about who has a grasp on reality. more will now.

  • Theo dan is thinking that money can be made off of a death. Hear of the OJ case and the civil suit by the goldmans? OJ and Zimmerman will probably not pay much even though the court ruled in the favor of the Goldmen and most likely rule in Favor of Trayvon’s family.

Trayvon did not test positive of marijuana and unfortunately we will never know if Zimmerman was high on anything. What we do know is that Trayvon had the muchies because it was a break in March Madness. Looks like the madness is the post by theo dan, your reputation will never recover in my book.

  • @TheSutraDude - Changing the subject to your maniacal J-loborn ziggy curtis obsession won’t make the fact that Trayvon Martin was a scum bag, go away. He had been suspended for drugs, truancy and tagging.

  • @sometimestheycomebackanyway - which is no justification for murdering him. he was suspended for having an empty pot bag in his possession. calling a murdered 17 year old kid a scum bag says more about you than it does about him. and the Xanga consensus which was easy to come to is that you are loborn curtis. not my words and you’re not fooling anyone except, apparently team Xanga who already banned you.

  • I like how you bring the real out of people in your comment section. People are amazing…

  • @TheSutraDude - Zimmerman, on the other hand was a fine upstanding citizen doing his job protecting his neighborhood. Trayvon beat him. Self defense is not murder.

Ground Control to Major Dood. If I was banned what am I doing here?

(You don’t need to answer that question)

  • @sometimestheycomebackanyway - Zimmerman has an order of protection on him from his former fiance, was charged with resisting arrest, was ordered by the court to take an anger management course and called a teenager walking home with Skittles he bought for his little brother a fucking coon. we obviously have a difference of opinion on what a fine upstanding citizen is.

  • @TheSutraDude - Okay, so he has anger issues exactly like you. Does that make him a racist murderer worthy of a Black Panther $10,000 bounty?

(You don’t need to answer that question either)

  • @sometimestheycomebackanyway - for the third time to you, i do not condone the Black Panther bounty. i don’t have anger issues nor have i murdered anyone. you might consider taking a first step toward rationality by not posting non sequitur comments.

  • @TheSutraDude - Your rage toward J-loborn ziggy curtis says different. Getting over denial is the first step on the way back to real reality.

  • @sometimestheycomebackanyway - i don’t rage over loborn curtis. i just point it out on behalf of the Xanga community

  • I hurd owning a trademark means you must only be out for monies rather than control over the actual use of said trademark, which happens to signify the parent’s child’s reputation, which for some strange, queer reason, they feel is being subject to character assassination.

As for “probably need to buy more weed” – aren’t you older?   Funny . . .I would’ve thought a mature, well adjusted adult would activate the logic centers in their brain before accusing a bereaving mother (about to endure premature funeral costs) of being a pot smoker that can’t even afford pot, or, maybe reconsidering just a dab of compassion before attacking parents who’s son was murdered/manslaughtered.

  • Well, I don’t feel like researching but it they filed for the trademark to stop others from making money, good for them.  Now, if they pocket the money themselves (except maybe funeral expenses or doctor/hospital bills for him) then that is just simply classless and I’m sure there’s some nice hot place for them in the afterlife.  There’s no way I could spend money on myself if I earned it as an indirect result of my child’s death, but I could trademark it and donate the money to a worthy cause so some asshole couldn’t make money off my kid’s death.

  • You must do your own independent investigation of truth…

  • This is snowballing into a thoroughly seedy affair.  I was giong to say, be careful, lest you suffer a backlash, but it seems to have already happened.

  • @sometimestheycomebackanyway - @TheSutraDude -

If I were a newcomer and didn’t know who was who, I couldn’t tell the diff.  For my money, you both shame yourselves.  And the helluv it is, your behavior is only emblematic of the larger “dialogue” going on.  Go to your corners, gentlemen.  Or better yet, have at it.  Everybody loves a cat fight.  Hiss.

  • @PPhilip -

Theo Dan is merely being an agent provocateur. He is throwing a piece of meat into the pen and watching the various factions eat each other alive. He is holding up a mirror and showing us ourselves…assuming we have the wit to see it.

  • @wrybreadspread - then you’d be well advised to keep your money to yourself

  • @wrybreadspread - TheoDan is simply reporting the news. Blaming him for the actions of others is unbecoming.

  • This group/blog is amazingly offensive and inflammatory. The responses provide a particularly insightful glimpse of the personalities in this room. Rather than unsubscribe, I think I will simply sit back and learn.

  • Wow…the amount of ignorant and racist statements that have been produced due to this tragic situation is sad.
Making money off your deceased child is horrible. But licensing those statements to prevent others from doing so is something I can support. There are countless amounts of sick and greedy individuals who would take advantage of this and run scams on 100s of people.

  • Have you explored/considered that trademarking was a preemptive move to prevent others from profiting off their tragedy? You seem to have already made up your made up your mind about the whole situation even though the case is still in it’s exploratory phase.

  • I’ve come full circle on this, from deploring the way they’re exploiting the tragedy to thinking they are somehow preventing other people from exploiting the tragedy to now…if their goal is to get justice for their son, this is exactly the wrong thing to do. If they want justice for their son, if they want people to rally around that cause, they need to let this thing continue to go viral. You don’t clamp down on it. And if a few are promoting the cause out of selfish motives, who really cares? They are still promoting the cause. Now whether they are simply misguided here or exploiting a tragedy, I don’t know. I don’t know them so I can’t judge their motives.

  • @TiredSoVeryTired - That is exactly what I suspected. I would do the same, trademark the name so others cannot use it for financial gain.

@wrybreadspread - I suspect that Dan is not being a mere troll but as you say, an agent provocateur. Such people are necessary at times and he has certainly drawn out one or two gutter trash here and I do not mean whom you think I mean.

If someone kills Zimmermann, a through investigation will have to be done. Any question of monies exchanging hands and the killer is due for life as a contract killer and the head of tthe Black Panthers life as an accessory.

  • I think there are different ways to go about it…some less of a “financial gain” and more geared towards educating the public on social issues, the trademarking of phrases though? Seems more towards the “opportunity to make a franchise of his death” end of the spectrum rather than “spreading awareness” side. Tacky… SMH.

  • I was punched in the face by a black man. I can totally believe that this boy would attack a spanish guy. African Americans can be violent when their emotions get the best of them.

  • What the fuck? This is one of the most offensive posts I have ever seen… for starters, if my son died & I wear to “make money off him” by promoting awareness etc & setting up foundations..I don’t see anything wrong with that. Versus if they were just pocketing the money, that’s messed up. I am not sure if they’re just pocketing the money or not..but still “They probably need to buy more marijuana?” really? That’s pretty fucking racist. Some of these comments make me want to vomit. “Black people like to earn money by doing NOTHING to earn it.” fuck you. This is just a disgusting & offensive post about a kid who was murdered. Regardless of race, class etc. Have some fucking RESPECT. RIP Trayvon Martin.

  • @RulerofMasons - I think you’re sincere, so you should know that’s one of the most ridiculous sweeping generalizations I’ve heard in a while.  You also only managed to make it more offensive by trying to be less ignorant about your ignorance by saying “African Americans.” Perhaps, if has not happened already, a European American should show you the light and y’know, also punch you.  In the face.

  • @Lovegrove - Theo likes to sit back and watch people expose the worst of themselves. lol  Makes sense to me to trademark it so others can’t use it as much as it would be that they are just selfish.  Since we don’t them, it would be unfair to assume.  :)

  • nigga gotta get paid

  • It’s not even confirmed true that Trayvon harassed Zimmerman.

It was information from an eye witness, which does not make it a fact. Plus, I don’t believe that Florida’s “stand your ground” law applies here, since Zimmerman was clearly the agressor because he followed and pursued Trayvon.

  • There is nothing wrong with making money in any legal way.  And there is a thing called life insurance, that is supposed to pay money to survivors based on death.  Any suggestion that it is wrong for someone who has lost a loved one to collect compensation in any possible way also condemns the existence of life insurance.  As though it is okay for the exploiters to take our money for the sake of capitalism, but those who enrich them should stay poor or become more poor.  The American Way?

  • @Cearce -  I can say African Americans if I want to. It is perfectly legal, written in textbooks, and that is what you are, don’t hate.

  • @BoulderChristina - YOWZA.  Pity he’ll never take you up on that.

    ————————————————-

ZERO PROPS for this one, and I’m the only one?  how shocking. (not)

  • @wrybreadspread @PPhilip

Then why does Dan come to my friends locked blog to argue Zimmerman’s case? Dan is capable and intelligent enough to have and express his own opinions.

  • @TheSutraDude - Oh you mean like Newt Gingrich???  That a**hole doesn’t know how to read, and if he does know how to read, then he’s a liar and stupid for making comments before doing the research.  He must have been apart of that “NO Child Left Behind” program.

  • @RulerofMasons - I’m actually mixed.  And as for your point, absolutely ridiculous – there are lots of legal things I could say but won’t since, I’m not an idiot.  Keep telling people the 1st amendment entitles you to put your foot in your mouth though, you’re looking great.

  • @RulerofMasons - That is one of the most foolish statements I’ve ever heard. You portray these people as a mindless group controlled soley by their emotions.

[ African Americans can be violent when their emotions get the best of them. ]

You can substitute any nationality for the word ‘African American’ and the statement is still irrational and invalid. Try ‘Muslim.’ That shoe should fit very well if I use your logic. Maybe you should choose your acquaintences more wisely instead of condemning a whole group or race because ‘poor little you’ got punched in the face. Hell, with statements like that, I’d probably want to punch you in the face too, ’just on principle.’ . Or do you think MY emotions are uncontrollable?

I can’t believe the maturity level of people in this group, so keen, eager and ready to hand out advice on any- and everything, yet still wrestling with basic concepts of human decency. This would be the last place I’d come to for advice of any sort.

  • Wow, you sure love to have sex, what a woman, how many partners does it take to satisfy you? How do you find dates?

  • This is a black kid that was killed by a Mexican guy and they are mad at white people. That aside, where is the outrage when a black guy kills a black guy? Or a white guy kills a white guy? It’s just another fake reason to rampage and loot. These are the same people who do the same thing everytime they get the opportunity. I expect pictures of black guys running out of bashed windows carrying TV’s and Shoes in protest of this poor unfortunate youth .. who, by the way, judging from his Twitter account, was a frigging disrespectful idiot and I guess we are short another guy crowding up our jails.

  • Hey, in this economy you should make money wherever you can.

  • You really are a racist piece of shit.

  • I think it’s wrong on so many levels, but I can’t really blame them. Who DOESN’T want easy money, especially in these tough economical times? I am sure this couple would love to have their son back, and even if they didn’t, a dollar is a dollar. Money is money, and it makes the world go around.

  • To apply for a trademark means to apply to own the rights of a name, a product, a slogan etc.
Looking at it from that point of view it is a form of protection and not so much making money from it.
Whatever the parents decide to do is their business, not mine.

But to be really honest. Regardless of what the parents are going to do.
If my child would have been killed, i would not want to see anybody on the streets selling T-Shirts
with my son’s or my daughter’s name on it ….. making a profit from it.

That to me is absolutely disrespectful in any way!

    ~Anja~

  • Well after all — the guy who wrote this stupid three sentence article IS a CHRISTIAN so what do you expect. We ALL know that God and Jesus are attractive white men with clean beards and not at all like the dirty ARABS who they really were!! LOL Religion is the most perverse belief system in the universe.
