  • Spending Money On Date

I was reading an article about how the average person spends $1078 for prom.  Here is the link:  Link

That didn’t seem too bad to me because I spent $500 for prom and that was over 20 years ago.

But we will not include prom.

What is the most you have ever spent on a date?  (or the most you have ever had spent on you for a date?)

  • Do hookers count as dates?

  • I have no idea! That was way too long ago and now after almost 32 years of marriage, who cares.

  • Most I’ve ever had spent on me: probably around $200.

Amount I spent on Junior Prom: $50.Amount I spent on Senior Prom: I actually made money in the end from after prom. ($25 and an Ipod Touch.)

  • My ex bought a sushi boat for 200. My husband and I never dated, per se.  We have bought around 500 at the mall on us and our daughter, so maybe 500?

  • None! I am the woman and therefore have never paid for anything date-related. I get on somethin’ skimpy and the man pays for my food and movie ticket. POW!

Jokes aside, I had two serious boyfriends in my life and I married the second, so I didn’t casually “date” at all. The boyfriends generally paid for dinners and whatnot, but when my husband and I moved in together all the money got mushed together and we paid for whatever we did from our one joint account.

  • FOR PROM?! That’s a whole frickin’ lot of money for a high school shindig. Yes, one of the more expensive dates, but $1,000 is ridonkulous.

Most expensive date I’ve been on…prom. lol
After that, movie and dinner. Movies are stinking expensive these days.

  • oh damn, I don’t even know! I think a $50 something dollar dinner? not much lol

  • Where do kids come up with $1,000?  What a waste of money.

  • And by these days I mean a couple years ago…when I went on those two dates…

    oy.

  • Well, when you flew @ShimmerBodyCream and I down to Malta to go diving, that wasn’t exactly cheap. How much did you spend?

  • maybe $250 spent on me one night.  most i have paid was with the same guy and it was about $140.  it’s expensive dating east coast men.

  • Well, at first a date spent about a $1,000 or so on a trip to San Francisco for a weekend.  But then after we got married, I paid the loan off for it, so there ya go! ha.

  • 10,000. That was a fun night. She was very skilled.

  • Premarital dating – way back then $20 was an expensive date.

Since getting married, probably our 25th anniversary spent at a B&B in Maine, with a whale-watching trip and steak and lobster dinners at a fancy schmancy garden restaurant. That was a bit pricey, but most people only get one silver anniversary so it was worth it.

  • Most I’ve ever had spent on me: Around $800 for a single date. Not a trip or anything. If we started counting that stuff, it would be in the thousands for this past Christmas’ travels.

  • spent on me for one date, maybe about $500?

  • I don’t drink much so when I do I get too drunk too fast. I am a cheap date.

  • Damn. I think I (well mom) spent a couple hundred on prom… and sadly my date was a joke so I could have had a better time. I think that was the most expensive date I have ever been on.

I learned that day that the money doesn’t matter. The company matters.

  • @lucylwrites - Aha so you’ve gone corporate? Always promoting the good of the company? Right wingers……::sigh::

  • Oh and $1078 for an average person to spend on prom is no average person. If an average person had $1078 to spend on a prom they would get a lot more for their money on a cruise and it’d be WAY more fun.

  • i borrowed my cousin’s dress and my mom’s jewelry for prom. so i’d have to say zero bucks.he paid for the tickets and dinner.

  • Couple hundred, but it was a full day thing… I’ve also spent a few hundred on him.

  • HOLY FUDGER. i was a loser in high school, but still went to prom. all i bought was the dress and the tix and getting a mani-pedi and of course getting my hair done and i think they all added up to barely $300.

  • $200 or so, my ex and I went to SeaWorld once…

  • zero never been on a date

As from proms when I was in secondary school (I live in the UK),   in year 11  (age 16) I did not have a school prom.      I think if we did have one and I went it would have cost about £500  (suit, shared limo costs, soft drinks extras and the meal)

Since my mum still works in the same school I attended as a catering assistant,   I know year 11s for the last few years do have a school prom.

Also I did not go to sixth form (age 16-18) I went to college each day and went home each day,   during the two years of things I did (during the first year it cost me two £1 coins for cinema trips,  I think it was a deal since 100 people went (I think it was a just a gathering of other people on the same course as me) since there were 10 college tutors about 10 people in each group,  the groups were put together where we choose to sit in the hall.

  • he bought a new car and wanted to give me a ride, so around $50-80k I don’t know how much the car cost. I don’t really care for cars. I wanted a stuffed animal

  • Probably several hundred over a weekend (hotel, dinner, petrol, shopping trip etc). In terms of a single night, maybe around £150.

  • The most expensive date that I spent was about $1o0. It was for dinner at Hard Rock Cafe and Eagles concert ticket.

  • DD and I both dropped well over $300 each on our vacation to Cape May for a three day weekend. :3

  • LOL the only time I dated was over 16 years ago and we were both highschool students so we went for a cup of coffee :P oh yeah and we missed the prom party cuz our son was less than a month old ^-^

  • I love it when somebody spends lots of  money on me. I show my appreciation with my body.

  • Only about 150 or so. Went to a concert and dinner….

  • Junior Prom cost me $20 and Senior Prom cost me $2. Literally. That’s how much I spent on my dress, and we ate at my house before going. So, yeah. Most expensive date was a Ren Fest, and that was like $800, if you count the engagement ring he put on my finger at the King’s Court.

  • @Shadowrunner81 - Most of the time no. Unless it is free..

  • My ex-boyfriend [Still my good friend] actually took me out for my birthday when we were dating & dropped roughly 300 bucks on me! He took me to a nice restaurant & then took me to my favorite store [Aerie] for a birthday shopping spree!

  • Uhh…Under $200. Stayed over in Niagara Falls with my ex for a night.

Usually don’t spend much, as a materialistic attitude is annoying (and quite cumbersome a thing). And I am uncomfortable with people spending shit loads on me—$14 rings FTW. None of that fancy gold shiz. :3

  • I spent less than $100 on prom. Or rather, whomever bought my dress and shoes did. Did I even buy new shoes? It wasn’t a good evening.
As far as a date, I guess spending $300-$400 over a weekend to visit a crappy castle (his idea) might count. I’m not sure if mini-vacations qualify as dates when you’re already intending to marry one another and he’s moved in with you at your parents’ house. We didn’t really date. We mostly just hung out together.

  • I spent upwards of $800 on a date once. Flew us both out to San Francisco, first class. Just to hang out and spend the day there doing whatever we wanted. Didn’t even get a kiss goodnight.

That was the end of my nice guy days.

  • JESUS!! WHAT A BUNCH OF CHEAP SKATES!

    Prom should be priceless.
    Just like my prom.

I picked my girlfriend up in a helicopter, flew here to up to 10,000 ft, then tandem parachuted into prom.
I filled the school swimming pool with cherry jello and whip cream, started prom with a dance floor over the pool, and then slowly removed planks to reveal the sexual goodness underneath.

After prom, I took my date in our party bus to the airport where we boarded a plane to have zero-G sex for 20-30 minutes.

Sadly, she dumped me after prom.
She just didn’t want to have McScarry-babies…

  •          @my_final_username – Well bucko-bean, spending money on yourself constitutes a date at some point…

@Somefishytales - Cruise? Really? A mutha-fuckin cruise? What if you make a hideous mistake and your date is a total nagging bitch?

    @TheMushyPear - That’s what I’m sayin’ ma Nig-pear!!

@pikachooseyou - I’m sure you’re in love and all, but I have to say: Sucubus.

    @Shadowrunner81 - And how!

  • @McScarry - I worked on prom night.  None of my everlasting friends invited me.  Bitches.  It’s called a phone, use it.  I’m almost 25, and I’m still a virgin.  There is no humanity, no humanity.  As soon as I get out of the mental place, I’m going to have sex with the first male that seems interested and doesn’t have a STD.  I’m not making babies.  Half of my family is all wandering around in mental institutions.  The UK has to deal with them.  Only a handful are in the states.  I HATE SCHIZOPHRENIA.  I wouldn’t do this to anyone, not even my worst enemy.

  • @Colorsofthenight - What are you doing Thursday night?

PS – don’t drink and internet.
You’d think I’d learn my lesson, but here I am at it again.

  • @ShimmerBodyCream - You may pray before it anytime.

  • I think the most I’ve spent on a date was when I was with the black guy, and I can’t remember his name.  He was “broke folk.”  In fact, I usually pay for all my dates.  I’m used to it, but it’s made me determined to be independent.  I think I dropped around 500 dollars.  The gas cost like 50.  We went to a movie and that was another 20.  Then we went to a park place that was like a lot of money because you had to pay for each thing.  And then I bought ice cream.  He was the one that wanted to blow that much cash.  We had two meals that day and they were each around 25 dollars each.

I could not keep dating him because I could not sustain him.

  • @McScarry - aw, that’s the nicest thing anyone’s said to me in a long time.  If you ever date me, you’ll need at least a twelve pack as in beer.  I can’t drink and be on all my antipsychotics though :(

I’m not drunk, and I’m even worse than you.  I wish that Putin would be nice to the poor, disabled girl and let me be with him for a night.

  • Probably around $100 spent on me on a date.  But he’s also gotten me quite a bit of nice jewelry.  Our most expensive date was a fancy dinner and almost $200 worth of Cavs tickets, but I won those in a work contest.  xD

I was homeschooled so I didn’t go to prom, but there’s no way I would spend $1,000.  I’ve never spent more than $80 on a dress, and that was only once.

  • Prob just dinner and a movie…
The dates got better and more pricey once I was actually married… funny how that works.

  • The most I have spent on a date is $60.00

The most someone has spent on me: $500.00

  • WOW. I spent $60 on prom.

  • You choose obscure news sites.
