  • Men In Uniform

I have heard that men are more attractive if they are in uniform.  I am not sure if that is because women like to see men dressed up like in a suit.  Or if there is something else that makes it more attractive.

Are men more attractive in uniform?

  • Yes! A uniform, such as a military or public servant uniform, is a status symbol. It says “Hey, I do something awesome and useful for a living! I promise stability and safety!”

  • I expect your next entry to be about nurse and French maid uniforms. ^_^

  • I’ll pass on that question

  • Firefighters are, at least mine is :)

  • Hell yeah!  It’s like what naked women are to men, men in uniform are to women!

  • Hmm, interesting question. I would have to say that in terms of it being something that a man can show as a way of contributing something useful to society, then yes. Personally, I don’t care either way, but the respect is still there.

  • @TheMushyPear & I both agree we would have sex with anyone wearing a Nazi uniform.

  • I don’t think it’s the uniform as much as it signifies responsibility and (depending on the uniform) bravery, strength, etc.

I never had a particular affinity for any particular person in uniform until I saw my husband in his NWUs.

  • Maybe I’ll wear my clergy robe out of the house more often.

  • Men are attractive (to me) when they’re comfortable. So, if they’re comfortable in uniform, then they are. If not, then, no.

  • That..or just a nice suit. :) My husband is smokin’ in a suit, if I do say so myself. One day he had to give a group of elderly women a tour of our campus, and he said they were behind him making remarks about how cute and handsome he looked in his suit. Haha!

  • I find men in uniform slightly more attractive, but it has little to do with the whole their work. Uniforms aren’t seen as often as say, jeans and a t-shirt, so it’s something different and nice. For me anyway.

  • meh. I prefer a man who’s all sweaty after a run. Im strange.

  • yeah..it’s always been attractive for some reason..heh

  • My wife told me we are never going to a mall in-between a wedding and reception again.  She kept on seeing women trying to get my attention.  It was hilarious.

  • I think it’s the tool that goes along with the uniform that is the actual source of attraction.

Would ya look at the Marine swing that thing?!

  • @eagerblue – me too. And firefighters.

  • Sometimes. If they’re hot already, it makes them hotter

  • to me, yes. why? personally because it means they’re “protecting” you in sense… and hopefully built :)

  • A “man in uniform” used to have no effect on me whatsoever, although I have always liked a man in a suit.  But I married a Navy guy, and loved it when he   would dress up in his concert dress uniform for concerts – black for winter, white for summer.  He was a pretty special guy!  We never particularly went to any occasions where he would have to dress up in that uniform (no official functions or balls or anything) but always went to concerts with him, and felt like a million bucks being with my hubby and kids’ dad, the Navy Band tuba player!

  • errhhhh…. DUH!? :D

  • Some people thought I looked sexy in my USAF uniform.  They were usually a few of my mental health patients though.  Truth can be funny, fact isn’t necessarily stereotyping.  So fuck it.

  • A clown or a gardening outfit would not suggest the strength and stability conveyed by a uniform. A uniform means approval by authorithy. In that sense it can give a sense of attractiveness.

  • Yes, men look good in uniform. It’s because they look “put together”. It’s not the same as a regular guy trying to rock a suit. Uniforms are made for a specific purpose. They look like they know what they’re doing. Really, they just look cool in general.

  • A well-tailored suit is to a woman what lingerie is to a man.

  • Yes! Sometimes I walk into my laundry room and there’s a firefighter uniform on the ground and it makes me smile Everytime. Sexy as hell. Even off the man.

  • Yes and no. You bring up an interesting point though. Uniforms are a sign of authority, and power and most people are very attracted to power. But they can be intimidating as well. Another thing I would like to point out is that if you wear a suit, carry a briefcase, wear a plan name tag, and walk at a speed that says “I know where I am and I have things to do.” you can get in more places than you would think.

  • OH GOD YES!!! Remember Dear John, Pearl Harbor, and G.I.Joe!!! All sexy men in uniform–just like your pictures shown above :D

  • I loved seeing my hubby in uniform. HOOAH! Mmm…

  • So…I should wear my martial arts uniform in public? On non-dress-up holidays?

  • Depends on the uniform I suppose.

  • My SO was a Marine.  He hasn’t worn his uniform in quite some time but I love just seeing those uniforms hanging up in the closet.  Mmmmmm.  Sometimes he’ll wear his flak jacket around the house…you know…for fun.

  • I know I’m in the minority here, but no, not in the slightest.

  • Men are most attractive to me when they’re naked from the waist up. The uniforms do nothing for me I have to say

  • Yes, especially if their uniform has a big red “1″ on it.

I guess we like to see men who look like they’re put together and in control of a situation. To be honest, the thing I miss most about my husband being in the military is seeing a bunch of people in uniform all the time- this is not even referring to attraction, it’s also that the uniform has a sort of calming, safe effect.

  • So long as a guy doesn’t wear athletic wear when he’s not exercising, I could care less.

  • Military men, yes. Cops too. I agree with sugar_mama. It makes me feel like they are protecting me and therefore have to be somewhat of a decent man haha.

  • YES– it gives them this essence of safety, authority, and sexiness at the same time. Don’t get me started on firefighters & their suspenders… ;)

  • Men look amazing in uniform…but so do I :)

  • could it possibly that most men in uniform are in good shape as well. E.g., fireman, policemen, armed services. Are men in trade uniforms as sexy too? Like janitors, security guards, car mechanics?

  • I approve of this post.

@seriously_meredith - Let’s see your blues!  Did you laugh at the boot corporal on the drill team?

  • they have benefits, but people are working to get rid of them, so I go after Presidents these days.  Can’t stop my @_@  I’m on fire.  I’m just joking about Presidents, but still.  No hobo.

  • I am a huge sucker for a man in a military uniform. It’s like some guys and redheads, I guess. I just find them more attractive than other dudes.

  • To me, and I’ve dated many different men in many different types of uniform (army, navy, air force, firefighter, police…and so on) it was just their title. Never had anything to do with who the guy was. Most of the uniformed men were my worst choices ever. Just because they had a uniform they thought they were God’s gift to the world. I know there are plenty of decent uniform men out there, I just happened to pick all the stalking, women are objects type of thought train, abusive psychos.

  • @landers_mommy0520@momaroo -

Yes, that’s exactly right. It’s not the uniform itself, it’s the symbolism that it implies.

  • I think it has to do with the heroic aspect. We like guys to be brave, aggressive and masculine, so standing up for someone in the face of danger (like firefighters and soldiers) is attractive; hence the appeal of the uniform.

    @trunthepaige - YES! :) I’m married to a volunteer firefighter…

  • I think I just like men when they are dressed up. Like tuxes…I LOVE tuxes. Just like I think men in their formal military attire are super sexy.

  • @npr32486 - I was just thinking about getting a formal picture done of me in Blues but I have to get the chevrons done first….I think I need to update my hashmarks too :)

  •          Yes ! They are hot in uniforme. It make me think that they are herous.

  • When it comes to the military uniforms I think definitely yes! For me personally it’s a matter of having a sense of security. And I know this doesn’t hold true for everyone but it gives me a sense that they’re responsible, too. My husband was in the law enforcement career for two years and while he looked damned sexy in his uniform I’m glad he got out of the career track.

  • I was getting laid left and right when working at target. Women can’t resist the red and khaki.

  • It’s because women like to feel like they’re being taken care of and the uniform provides the protective image.

  • NOPE! THEY’RE JUST AS UGLY AS THEY ARE WITHOUT UNIFORM

  • I think man become more responsible in Uniform.

  • I dunno. When trying online dating, it didn’t make much difference if I used a picture of me in a military uniform or not.

  • FIREMEN FTW IN MY pANTS

  • @Colorsofthenight - NO HOBO LOLOLOL  I LUV U

  • They’re just more attractive when they’re dressed up, period.  I’d rather see a man in a suit than in jeans and a tee shirt (unless I’m at a picnic!)

  • Not even a little bit more attractive, but maybe less attractive.

  • a uniform usually means financial stability, confidence, and able to work hard and commit. that’s attractive to me :)

unless it’s a cop uniform….then fuck off. FUCK THE POLICE!!!!

  • No.

This is only because I work with men in uniform.  I’m sure if I didn’t then maybe they’d be attractive.

  • Uhhh, yeah? It’s so hot when they’re wearing uniform or dressed in suits.

  • My fiance is a corrections officer. I want to rip his uniform off of him when he’s in it. Not as much so in his daily clothes. But maybe it’s because his work uniform is the nicest thing he wears.

  • Men in uniform are incredibly sexy,if you ask me. Picture a naughty police man or fire fighter! ;D

  • My fiance is in the U.S Army and I think he’s sexy regardless of what he’s wearing…but when he’s in uniform, there’s just something different. It’s the authority figure, the control, the strength, those types of things that turn me on even more than usual. Also knowing that he’s been through war in the uniform is quite amazing. Not necessarily SEXY, but amazing nonetheless.

  • In some neighborhoods like mine military people have no problems getting laid or developing relationships..because that uniforms that they are reponsible, decent people who are trying hard to make something of themselves but it richer neighborhoods it does not work so wealth because people know that theuy are not wealthy. That is why everything is fair in love and war.

  •          if the “protection” is still working, why we still free insercurity?

  • A man will find his life to be more meaningful when he is a part of something larger than his life, to be a part of something worth doing, and to work towards a common goal with others. Therefore a man in uniform feels his life has more purpose, and i believe it shows on his face when he wears that uniform. Unless of course he hates his job, but most of  the time a man is proud of what he does.

It may show on a mans face, and the subtlety of it all can be read by a woman.

    Perhaps that is why?

  • I prefer them naked and in my bed.

  • Yes. But because, to me, when a guy is in uniform (and even in a GOOD suit that actually fits and/or tailored to his body), it means that he has certain requirements to the up keep of his outward appearance. I like guys who have a very relaxed (but not bum like) sense of style. But I still like seeing a guy put some effort into the way he looks.

Besides, if I’m dating someone, he’s going to make the uniform/suit sexy, not the other way around.

  • NO!!!! YUCK!

ok I take back the yuck for firefighters and for (some!!) soldiers who aren’t just weapon and hierachy obsessed, but actually believe in the thing they do. Firefighters are cool because they save lives, so are most doctors and anyone who does what they do with idealism. Actually I take it back totally.

But uniforms, in general, are unsexy as hell. First: as it says, they show nothing unique about the person. So what am I suppposed to find so attractive?  2.) They often look like sheep who are afraid of their superior or just too dumb to question when they follow strange orders.
    Somehow that’s admirable…I just couldn’t do this.
But all in all it seems like they think it’s ok that someone treats them like crap, or that they even like it. They don’t believe in equality, and maybe their goal is to treat ME like shit. (or some random person). I don’t like being told what to do, especially not “because that’s how one does it”. I don’t want a submissive dog either.
I want someone who teams up with me and corrects me where I’m wrong and lets me take the lead when I’m right. Preferably they team with me alone, and not some organization or nation, religion etc.

guys who wear uniforms: sorry I don’t want to offend you. A job is a job. It is not like I find other work outfits specifcally sexy either. Everyone dresses in a certain way and must follow certain rules at work. You also have your free time to be ‘you’. And I talk about my instant associations, not deep thoughts.
But while someone wears a uniform they are not more sexy to me…at all.

  • I certainly think that a man in uniform, be it military or public service, is an attractive thing. I think my boyfriend is handsome anyway, but I love seeing him in dress blues or even his daily camo.

  • I think men in uniform have always been attractive and it isn’t just the nature of their service or the commitment involved but that does help. When I think of the training and discipline a guy goes through in order to wear that uniform, I feel a sense of respect for him and what he stands for. Otherwise, anyone who cares enough about him-or herself to be well-groomed is likely to care about others as well. Martha Stewart isn’t the only one to recognize “that’s a good thing.”

  • a man in uniform who’s also FIT is more attractive. Not only are they out to do something heroic, it’s also a lot more meaningful than marrying a couch potato who lives off of others.

  • heck yes!! especially EMTs on the hospital floor. fun..

  • HELL yes my man in uniform is hot. My boyfriend is an army veteran but whenever he used to wear his uniform it was the hottest thing in the world. He’s going to be a police officer in a year or so. Gonna be so flippin’ sexy in his uniform (:

  • @PocketfulOfDreams - So uh… you were abused by a military man huh?
