Deleting Comments
I rarely delete comments. I usually just delete if someone posts a bunch of comments in the first 25-50 comments.
But I have noticed that some people delete the comments of others on their post just because the comments anger them.
Have you ever deleted comments?

Usually it’s when someone is trying to pick a fight, or- there are these two or three people that I’ve specifically told them I am NOT speaking with them anymore, and they keep right on coming back for more… (Obsession? hmmmmmmm) regardless, I delete their comments…
I ESPECIALLY delete their comments when it’s obvious within the first few words that they’re insulting me.

Yes, if they are annoying. For instance when I first had my site, I had this girl post annoyingly depressing comments. If you read my blog, you would know what I was referring to. And I delete comments from xangans that do not have their sites up anymore.

no, i like to leave the comments there and refer back to them when lambasting idiots. the only people who want to get rid of evidence are the guilty.

I delete the spam comments, and I think I’ve deleted comments once before when people were being extremely rude to each other. But I warned them ahead of time, and then told them again when I did it, because I just do not want to see shit like that popping up in my inbox all day.

I won’t tolerate incredibly rude or vicious people, so I will delete their comments. Luckily I haven’t really had that happen. I try to keep my site mellow and away from drama.
If they’re posting inflammatory comments that add nothing to the conversation and/or they’re attacking another commenter, then yes, I’d delete them. Never had to do it though, because I tend to steer clear of topics that could cause a lot of drama.

No. If someone insults me, I want people to see what they wrote. I’ve had someone delete their own comments after they insulted me.

I find typos embarrassing so i sometimes delete my own comments if i find typos later on.
I only deleted spammy trollish comments from the DJ and her dog. Some people are just assholes and you have to undo stuff that happened before you blocked em.
I delete posts sometimes, so I guess that takes the comments with. I used to delete comments but I try to stay away from drama on here so I don’t really feel the need anymore.

Things are slow at xanga right now and I suppose the angel topic did not enthuse much people? I am feeling sleepy, is it I am tired or bored? I have only deleted one comment where the person said they hoped my dog got hit by a semi truck. Other than that, no.
Only comments I’ve ever deleted were spam. “Buy this amazing purse for $50!” Yeah, no thanks. Worthless spam.
As for simply mean or nasty comments, I prefer to let people hang themselves and leave their true colors out in the open for all to see.
Yeah, I’ve deleted a few. I don’t delete comments because someone disagrees with me, but when they’re clearly without any intention of adding to the discussion, when it’s just a troll stirring up shit, I delete them, block, and move on without a second thought.

I honestly think I only recall maybe once or twice deleting a comment…if I got a spam comment I would delete that one too…But I have been blessed I have not really had to do neither! … The couple times I did delete I think the person that left the comments … It was just rude and obnoxious! … I jus think … “If ya can’t say nothing nice don’t say nothing at all ” Ya know? … U had 2 post! ??Sorry I only saw this one…
I don’t think I would delete comments unless it caused friction between people. Im new though so I’ve never experienced here on Xanga.

Mostly spam. And one atheist rant on a post about a baby dying. Hector in one of his many incarnations. Actually, now that I think about it, I may not have even deleted that comment. Maybe I just blocked the jerk.

i’m sure i have. if someone doesn’t agree with me they don’t have a right to post on my page. everyone must always agree with me on my blogs.

I delete older and out of date comments to make room for better and more useful ones. Xanga Darwinism at its’ best!

I used to delete comments all the time. Every day.
Curiously however, they are comments I write to myself, experimenting with the system and seeing what HTML experiments I can get away in the comment field. Sadly from what I have learned is you can only do 3 different things in HTML (so there really is no need for the Edit HTML button on top)
And that is, Bold, Italics, and link. I carefully checked out every single existing HTML and Javascript command and absolutely none of them are allowed in the comment field.

Whoever comments is responsible for what they say whether it’d be a good comment or a mean one. I appreciate the comments that aren’t a waste of my site’s space though.
I delete all the constant and numerous comments that say how wonderful I am. My astounding humility compels me to do so to.
well, on here I have not. On Fb… urgh… friends and family can be down right abusive with thier comments and they also call people out on things that I will delete in order to not stir up offense of another friend of family member.
I think I would delete spam on here, but as far as someone else having a difference of opinion etc…. nah. I enjoy those comments.
What is the point in opening up myself on a website to just delete things I don’t like? If it does not reflect me, oh well, it didn’t have my name on the comment anyhow.
I do, however, think there are certain circumstances where deleting is appropriate and probably necessary, but I have no encountered one yet.

I deleted a comment once that was filled with the F-bomb and had nothing to do with the post – I think it was just a hit and run troll. Not someone I had ever seen before.

I commented “FIRST, suck it, bitches” just because it seemed like the right thing to say. THEN, the NEXT day, I just so happened to to be the first AGAIN! I couldn’t believe my luck, so I commented “FIRST, Suck it AGAIN, bitches. AND, that brings us to today. While I was not the first, I still felt compelled to keep the thread going.
Now, lets address your comment, which was “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all”. While I agree that this is a good philosophy, I feel inspired to go the opposite direction, and tell you fuck off. Is that okay? Can you please just fuck off?
