Everyone Copies Apple
Apple won a billion dollar lawsuit over Samsung because a jury felt Samsung tried to copy the iPhone. Here is the link: Link
I think pretty much every smart phone copied the iPhone.
Has every smart phone copied the iphone?

I… don’t know. I have a shitty Blackberry.
Slow night there Dan if I got first and I even edited it and still no comments.I guess that shows how boring our life is to be on Xanga on a Friday night LOL
Ok,why did my first comment leave.I’ll do it again.
Smart phones are only as smart as it’s user. That must mean there are a lot of stupid smart phone out there
STOP THE PRESSES: There is far more earth shattering case of copying going on! Lululemon sues Calvin Klein for copying Yoga Pants! LINK.
Crap man, both of those companies have money.
I want a billion dollars!
no, samsungs android phones actually have features.
Pretty much. But Apple still makes a crap-ton of money. We sell iphones at Best Buy and literally make no profit on them. We get all the money from the contracts people sign with Verizon, Sprint, etc.
I think that they need to loosen up. Most phones are very similar lately, and its not like they are claiming their phone IS an iPhone. Not to mention Apple is a huge corporation and people are always going to prefer the name brand over knock offs.
Of all the phones smart phones are the smartest..
I think my favorite line from following various blogs regarding this case . . . “So, a rounded rectangle is secure intellectual property now?”
Apple has patents defining a rectangular device with a flat screen. The way Apple would have it, no one would make a touch screen device. They’re insane.(And I say that as a user of Apple products.)
Yeah, Samsung should have known better than to copy Apple’s totally original idea of a rectangular device with rounded corners. And that a tap is actually a zero distance swipe, and only iDevices are allowed the swipe function in any capacity. Shame on them.
The patent system in this country is balls. All I know is, I love my Android, and it’s out “smarted” iPhones many times. But honestly, I don’t like getting into flame wars about this… but when Apple pulls retarded shit like this and abuses the patent system, it makes me mad because I want to see a tech world where healthy competition is encouraged rather than one where Apple shits on everyone who tries to bring innovation to the table in a hopeless effort to gain a monopoly of the smart phone business. In world like that, we wouldn’t have any automobile manufacturer other than Ford, because every automobile company after them was obviously copying them, so they should have been stamped out. It doesn’t fucking work that way.. Competition encourages innovation, and keeps the entire market in check. Without Android, I guarantee you your iShit would be more expensive and less featured, because without the competition they could get away with creating shit products and charging you out the ass, because they’d be the only company offering the product. As far as I’m concerned, Android is the savior of the smartphone market.
The truth is, Android is here to stay and it’s fucking great. Apple may have pioneered the smartphone landscape, but in my opinion Android perfected it, or at least it takes great strides in doing so. Google has taken a great product and made it outstanding – not a day goes by that I wish I had bought an iPhone instead of my Samsung… It just does more, and has more potential.
@MillySonka - The thing is, though, Android phones are not simply knock-offs. Google is a huge company as well, with every bit as much name recognition – if not more, being that it was a well known name even before the whole smartphone thing, and before iProducts were as popular as they are now. Now, there are crappy Android phones, but if you know what you’re looking for, there are also very, very good ones – Samsung’s Galaxy series of phones and tablets come to mind. In fact they’re probably among the most well-known Android devices, which would explain why Apple and Samsung are currently in this kerfuffle – they’re the biggest name in the business, so Apple goes after them.
But there’s been this crazy elitist idea lately that Androids are a poor-man’s iPhone – that, if you own an Android, it somehow reflects that you’re too poor for an iPhone, or some other such BS. When Instagram got an app on Android, many iPhone fanboys were pissed! They acted like Android owners were some kind of inferior peasants, and they’d say shit like, “I don’t want to see your low quality Android pictures in my feed!” (Android cameras, by and large, have been up to par with, or better than, that of the iPhone). It’s really bizarre and makes for an interesting case study for the psyche of the average iPhone user and Apple user in general. They’ve somehow convinced themselves that iPhones are simply superior, even when the evidence shows otherwise. iPhones don’t even dominate the market by the same margin any more, Android sales are growing more and more every year!
All I’m saying is, call Androids what you want, but they are by no means “knock-offs.” Make no mistake, there have been plenty of iPhone knock-offs, but Android has certainly risen above that rank and reached “alternative” status by now.
Probably. Only slightly related…if you watch nickelodeon shows at all, like iCarly and Victorious (and in the past, Zoey 101) they all have “pear” merchandise instead of apple. Pear phones, pear pads, pear computers…you name it they have it.
Blackberry and Palmpilot were out long before Apple. It’s all bullshit. Apple doesn’t like the competition, so they come up with crap, and sue. It’s the American way. As a Canadian, I know about the Americans and their penchant for whining in the trade world. Blackberry, a CANADIAN product, was doing shit that Apple could only DREAM of before they even came out with a fucking phone. Should the makers of Blackberry, Research In Motion, sue Apple? By Apple’s logic, then YES.
I would go without my android than buyiAnything…..and my son constantly uses my older androd phones insted of his iPhone. He loves his sony mp3 player and never uses is iPod.
The real question you should ask, Dan, is who here still has a home ‘land line’ phone?
My old phone was a Samsung smartphone. Piece of shit that was. If Samsung is copying Apple, either Samsung is doing it wrong or Apple sucks.
My Galaxy S3 destroys the iPhone on every level. Apple is just suing because they know someone made something that will outsell even the upcoming iPhone 5. Also android rocks.
Well i would say.everything is a copy of something. i heard that there is a case against apple in korea for copying samsung so its just shitty
I’m going to let the man with the mustache sum this up for us:
“Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing.”
– Salvador Dali
There is no smart phone that can copy itself. Usually humans do that for them.
Not sure cause all I have is an lg saber with easy edge. Smart phones, droids and iphones are way to smart for me.
obviously.
I’ve read several books on Steve Jobs and he got sued for taking the Apple name and symbol from the Beatles and signed a thingy that he would never use it to do anything with music and then he got sued again by them when he came up with the Ipod cause it had to do with songs of course.
I’ve read the recent one by Isacson and also “Different” by a woman that just came out this year.
stealing is the greatest compliment,right?
Palm
Way to steal the news.
You pander to the lowest of the low on here.
This site is garbage and what is wrong with Xanga.
I actually think that Apple was in the right here, though I’m totally an Android supporter myself. Samsung has made
so many phones
in it’s time, and in almost every case, it’s as if they tried to just copy the biggest competitor on the market–and they consistently come up short. My first phone was a Samsung, back when flip phones were a popular thing. Then, when Blackberry phones became popular, they started to look like Blackberry phones. Now, the iPhone is popular, and… well, if you compare Samsung to Nokia, Sony (Ericsson), Motorola, HTC, or Apple, it’s easy to see that these have held a strong identity with the design of their phones–that, or they created something completely innovative all together–especially with Nokia’s new Windows phone, which was a bold and truly impressive move on their part. Samsung just tries to give the market what’s popular at the time by copying designs, and they’ve consistently come up short when compared to the competition.
Anyway, y’all should just buy Sony Xperia phones, because my current phone (Xperia Ion) is probably the best phone I’ve ever had, and… it’s beautiful. #Sonyfangirl
@Dustin_wind - Absolutely correct. Apple is just pissed because Samsung has become too powerful, too innovative for their own good. No one sues better than the Americans. After all, suing is a favourite American pasttime. There is nothing else for them to do.
@jillcarmel - The Beatles are right. Apple DID take the name from their symbol. It was around long before Apple was a gleam in daddy’s eye.
@CanuckFascist – haha exactly! Why the check didn’t apple sue Samsung earlier on? The galaxy S2 competed directly with the iPhone 3GS…
I do find the stupidity of those purchasing Apple computers to be amusing. What fool pays almost double for a Mac what he/she would pay for a PC? They both generally share the same components, with the only difference being the OS. Hey, it’s your money! *ROTFLMAO*
@Dustin_wind - Well, they saw which way the wind was blowing. I know a few people who immediately purchased the Samsung S3, and they absolutely love it. It seems to blow the iPhone away. Apple knows this, and panicked that their market was penetrated, so they sought to sue, coming up with bullshit. RIM could have sued Apple’s ass for the same reason, although they had legal problems of their own.
You need to learn that Americans do not like competition. As a Canadian, living in an atmosphere of ‘free trade’ with the Americans, I know how they feel about competition, how they deal with it. After all, they were placing tariffs on our goods crossing into the United States in an Free Trade environment. We weren’t just competing with them, we were kicking their ever-loving trade asses, and getting wealthier by the minute. This pissed them off, so they cheated and changed the rules of the game in their favour, just as Apple has done here. The way I look at it, if you cannot play with fire, get the fuck out of the kitchen.
OK, I guess no-one has asked this yet. Why do they call it an iPhone if you LISTEN to it with your ears ?? Φ ≡
WAIT. i thought the iPhone technology was created by Samsung. shouldn’t it be the other way around? and haven’t they done it already?
@CanuckFascist – yeah dude. The S3 is no joke. I love it. It does everything the iPhone does plus more. And it does everything better. That being said, the iPhone will still remain the standard for smartphones nowadays.
@islandgypsygirl - No, it wasn’t. It was created by Apple.
I think all Smartphones are one and the same – complex, simple and you have to look at it simply in a complex way..then pay the monthly fee so that someone can take a holiday somewhere in the world..I don’t have a Smart phone..mine just takes money..and is not clever.
