  • Ideal Body Type for Men

It was suggested in the comment section of my last post that I should do a post on the ideal body type for men.

So to play fair, here we go.

    1.  Very Thin

    2.  Thin

    3.  Average

    4.  Athletic

    5.  Plus Size

    6.  Thick

    7. Obese

Which body type is the ideal body type for men?

  • Whatever type the person I love has, or whatever body type that person wants to be.

Nah, just playing. I want someone on ROIDS

  • I don’t think this is fair at all! *heavy sigh* Thats a terrible picture of “average”. Bring back the women…even the obese lady was better to look at!

    Fine. Thin. Or…athletic lite.

  • Obese, think of all the awesome food that guy gets to eat

  • I’m personally not turned on by a man’s looks…it’s more emotional attraction for me. Like–if I have feelings for him, than I will think he’s very handsome and be physically attracted to him. But it’s hard for me to feel physically attracted before there is emotional attraction.

  • Oh boy I will take number 4

  • i wish i were a little more athletic, though even if i were i would look plus sized :(

  • I think the “Thick” section should be renamed to “pregnant”.

  • Compared to the ladies pic,the guy pics you chose are pretty goofy.I guess you don’t think much of guys or are you trying to stack the deck for the athletic guy to try and prove a point.

  • Hahhahaha, you are hysterical!  Playing into society’s silly views… average man is “fat”, but average girl is “skinny”.

    I like #4.  I ain’t gonna lie.

  • Anyone else notice there are two #4′s?  I’m between thin and average but the average guy looks a bit chubby to me.

  • LOL nice pics. How to choose? Athletic!!!

  • Lol should ask xangans to donate pics for these blogs.

  • I see for a caring heart in a women and i dont have any preference in body type.

  • None of these are Boyf or Chris Evans, so I can’t say I’m interested.

  • When i saw the pictures of the women, they almost all seemed attractive/fit.  With the men, it’s the complete opposite.  #2 should be soft, not thin.

  • i just have one thing to say: shoulders.

  • whatever they feel like having… there are no ideal standards of beauty for men or women.

  • Plump at the right places…

  • I’ve been attracted to lots of different types of men. But I’ll say average. My current love interest is 6’4″ and not exactly chubby, but teddy-bear-like. Perfect size to hug, imho.

  • He needs to be a Brick. One who in his own head is confident of himself, firm in his convictions, strong in his resolutions, and stubbornly positive in his compassion and understanding and temperance for all others. Φ

I’d date a guy like that in a heartbeat, and at one point, I knew one.

  • Where did you find these pictures Dan? Too funny…

  • These are so radically opposite of the women’s, but I suppose that’s probably the point haha.

  • athletic is how i like them, i don’t mind thin but not too thin…yup i’m shallow

  • This should have been:

    1. Military uniform   2. Construction clothes    3. Man in Suit    4. Doctor scrubs    5. TheoDan

  •  None of these types appeal to me. When I met Hubby, he was like teddy bear with his long hair and beard and little tummy. So cute.

#5 has the muscles and low fat, but eh, he sitll doesn’t appeal.

  • I like them tall. so if he’s athletic but short, I’m not interested. 6’4″ and toned; jason momoa

  • I am most attracted to athletic..that is the most pleasing to me. But looks aren’t everything…I’ve had crushes on guys of all sizes

  • what people are not seeing  is that most of the the women posted for the last blog looked overall better than the men, regardless of weight. All of the women are just picking #4 because, well, that is what women want, and he obviously is more attractive. It goes to show that despite double standards imposed by our societey, men have lower standards for women than women do for men.

  • Right now I am between 2 and 3, my goal to look like 4.

  • athletic…obviously.

  • Mmm. I’d like number four please with a side order of all that and then some AND a bag of chips.

  • For most women it depends not so much on body shape, but the size of his equipment and the depth of his wallet.

  • Info is out of this world, I would love to read more.

  • As stated before I think #1 very thin should be the ideal body type for males. But for the love of G*d you could have chosen better pictures. THIS picture for instance.

  • i am somewhere in between 2 & 3. and i find this poll as pointless as the last one as it just objectifies everyone down to the common denominators of what society deems acceptable. i would love to have me some awesome supermodel arm candy as long as she wasn’t a shallow narcissistic bitch (which is highly unlikely), but i did fall in love with and marry a short, fairly unattractive and overweight lady because i thought she was totally awesome. i divorced her because she wound up being manic depressive and i just could not handle it. now i am with the woman that i wish had been there in the first place. and she is my awesome arm candy. fuck the super models. she is the most beautiful thing in my life and she is holding up just fine at 51 as well as those models will if they don’t have their faces cut up (also unlikely). i am totally good. and very happy.

  • Sorry, but none of these guys are doing it for me.

  • Dear Dan,

I exemplify the ideal. (Or will, as soon as the last few pounds disappear revealing my washboard abs.

Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool

  • Malnourished, normal, squishy, meat bag, squishy, pregnant, squishy.

Numbah TWO or a toned down four who doesn’t have a douchey attitude.

  • #4. Thank you for the man candy.

  • Wow…4 is yummy! ha ha

  • You know what? If you really wanted to make a creative post about the subject, you should of picked some celebrities with great personalities to use for each example. People we can relate to and all know. I’ll have you know that some of us don’t base our ideals and what we like on looks alone.

Using pictures of 7 random men who you want us to judge straight by there looks is very subjective and also a pretty damn shallow of a subject to cover. So basically, what you’re saying is you want us to judge a book by only its cover, right? How the cover looks is what’s more important in how we should base our ideals and principles? C’mon man, I know you’re smarter than that, and if you’re just doing this to get a laugh or comments… you should change your username to FoxnewsCafe or TheEnquirersCafe.

  • Athletic.

Why does “average” have a bit of a stomach going on there.

  • I think the “Thin” guy looks more “Average”, personally. Some happy medium between the “thin” picture & athletic. But again, whatever form that the guy is happy in confident in. Confidence is sexier than big muscles ;)

  • Why don’t the men ones and the girl ones coincide? the women ones and body type… they all looked thin from 1-thick…

    Something is off… perception?

  • Very thin or athletic :) , but a combination of the both is very sexy :)

  • David Boreanaz.

I’m very disappointed with your pictures.

  • haha this is even more hilarious than the last one.

i think there should be one in between “average” and “athletic”. I think the average is more spot on than the women’s one. But I think there isn’t too much difference between the plus size and the thick. Thick? lol I prefer a mix between average and athletic. Built but not prettier than me!

  • yeah, the “average” guy here is thicker than the “thick” woman in the sister post to this. and what was considered “obese” in women is smaller that Mr Plus size above.

I’d say “ideal” body type varies with age and the eye of the beholder.

  • Well, my husband is between 1 and 2 and it’s genetics (he eats ALOT).  I’d say 1-4 and other than that, lose some weight.

  • Why do men still get a pass on  their bodies? Just look at the contrast between the women in the previous post and the men in this post. The men are fatter.

I would call the men in your post:

    “Thin”
    “Average”
    “Heavyset” (NOT “average”)
    “Athletic”
    “Overweight”
    “Fat”
    “Obese”
    “Grossly Obese”

With the understanding that the average American man is overweight.

  • Yeah… that average man could TOTALLY date your “average” woman. I guess maybe if he’s really rich… Okay enough gender stereotyping. Out of all of those guys, I would probably pick the thin guy… based solely on physical attraction, of course. P.S. it’s hard to determine whether or not someone is physically attractive if you can’t see his face…

  • @SlackerSociety - I don’t really get your point… wouldn’t it be the other way around, that women have lower standards for men? It’s hard to really extrapolate anything from this, though, since these are pictures of men chosen by a man, and the pictures of women from the other day were ALSO chosen by a man. Clearly TheoDan thinks that all women want an athletic guy, so that is the only one that he chose which would be considered conventionally attractive. With the women, he mostly chose slightly different variations of the same body type– thin with big boobs.

  • Average to athletic.

  • I dont know if I can do thin… lean yes… but spider thin? I dont know… maybe I could. What bothers me is feminine hands on a man, long slender fingers and longish nails. UGH! No way!

  • Started out as thin – for years could not add weight – tried everything to no avail – then moved into the average type and have remained there – sometimes getting  a bit of a belly but nothing like the remaining photo types LOL btw I don’t drink beer!

  • Combination of 4 and 2 would be my preference: thin and toned.

  • Do one on women. U’ll be suprised to see that women r more shallow then men. But i like petite not too short woman.

  • None of those!  I like athletic but not gymaholic like the guy in the athletic photo.

  • yes, you are right, I like #4,it is the healthy size.
