Celebrating the Death of Children
Westboro Baptist Church will be having a praise service outside Sandy Hook Elementary school where 20 children and 6 adults were killed in the shooting.

They are just as sick as the shooter. I read about a small town where WBC was planning to picket a soldier’s funeral. The citizens went out during the night, checked the parking lots at all the hotels in town and parked a vehicle behind every car from Kansas at every hotel. The next morning, all the towing companies were unavailable until after the funeral, and the police were too busy providing protection for the planned protest to deal with a few parking violations until after the funeral.
People sicken me, and not just the Westboro Baptist Church. It seems like this tragedy (or any tragedy at all) has brought sickening jokes towards these deaths, or debating over stupid gun laws. Instead of mourning the deaths of these people, all people can do is cause scenes and arguments. Society is just a big piece of shit anymore, and it saddens me.
I like what @saintvi said. I like approaching vile and violent people with non-violence.
The thing is, what if there were a shooting at Westboro Baptist Church, and other churches had “praise services”? What would their reaction be then? I truly don’t understand that church. They seem to enjoy deaths and glorify them. Sick.
That is quite sickening and wicked insensitive. I wonder why it’s always wacko (so-called) Christian groups like these that always gain media attention.

Everyone’s tossing blame around and getting their input in about everything from gun laws to mental health institutions and all that bullshit. I agree with you. People are all sick and it makes me sad.
I have met those Westboro crazies. They came to my college and protested a drag show. I was part of a silent barricade. They are disgusting, nasty people.
I wonder what they would think of “God’s judgement” if a tragedy would happen in their family/congregation. Would they think it would be God’s judgement? Would they think it’s a terrible, ungodly act? So many questions…
@Dustin_wind - Really? That’s insane how we said the same things at the same time. I’m just glad someone sees it this way as well. It’s just sad how things don’t bother people anymore. All anyone can really do today is fight and argue instead of getting together as a community and helping each other out, ignoring their differences, and seeing individuals as people and not verbal punching bags.
Ew these are the same people that picket funerals, which is just so tactless and heartless. I’m not a violent person but I’d like to hit each of those assholes in the face with a shovel.

In my hometown those evil craziest were going to picket a young marines funeral the lady pastor of the church went out with several bikers and escorted them away from the church the bikers stood guard for the son of a fellow biker and would not allow them to interrupt it saddens me that people would even say the word Christian when it comes to them they are just plain evil spirited

What they do and what they are has absolutely nothing to do with God. In fact, I’m sure that everything they do and say and stand for disgusts God more than anyone, which means He’ll be dealing with them. I really don’t envy them right now. Maybe in the meantime, if we all stop giving them the reactions and attention they want, they’ll get bored and go away. I honestly can’t think of a better way to deal with people like this. If you argue with them, they scream louder. If you’re violent towards them, they think themselves persecuted martyrs and it only makes them feel justified in their “cause” (whatever that actually is). The only thing I can think to do anymore is pretend they don’t even exist, even though I want to punch each and every one of them in the face. I wonder if there is some way you could stop them from being heard by the church? I’ve heard of another church creating a human barrier around the burial site of a fallen soldier, so that way Westboro couldn’t get near them.

They sure give we Baptists a bad name! My pastor has spoken out against them and all they stand for. If they would actually READ the Bible they would see that God is angered at the slaughter of children, supports military action for countries defending themselves, and loves each human life. They sicken me. And as a parent who has lost a child, I can’t imagine the added horror their picketing will add to all those grieving.

A couple years ago a man was beheaded on a Greyhound bus in Alberta Canada and these sickos tried to come picket his funeral (because the beheading was god punishing Canada for its allowance of gay marriage, don’t you know). They were turned away at the border. Go Canada! These guys are incredibly sick and need to be thwarted more often.

@nihaokeisha - did you notice all of the afternoon talk shows fetured the kids and their poor families? dr oz and some other lady. the parents and brother of a little boy were being interviewed by the lady and the mother of the boy who died was breaking down on camera, she was obviously not ready to talk about any of it, but the dumb talk show lady just kept asking. some preacher guy from the town was on all of those shows too with his big fake grin talking about the freaking lord.

If God decides that the members of Westboro Baptist Church are not His followers, then what of those who criticize them? Should not the critics be closer to God and be found worthy of receiving judgment in their favor on that day when Jesus returns to reward every person according to their works? From what I have seen and heard of WBC, the members do not follow the teachings of the Bible and take in vain the name of the God they claim to worship. Perhaps worship is one thing, but love is key to worship. If there is no love for God, then the worship is meaningless. It was a problem God addressed numerous times through His prophets in the OT, and it is a problem in our churches today.
WBC needs to lead by example in repentance of their sin, and then rebuke the sin in their lives. They need to have the love of God in their lives, and that love needs to be reflected to every person the membership encounters. This is true of every church that claims to be “full gospel” and follows the teachings of the Bible. And by church, I mean every human being who claims to be a Christian, for their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. They need to start cleansing the sanctuary of their hearts in preparation of the return of Jesus Christ.
The Westboro folks need help. Thank God for the firefigthers that formed a cordon around the memorial services….
Westboro Baptist Church has a mission, to destroy freedom of religion, and I’m sure, claim it was God’s will. The pastor is leading people down the wrong path, a path of destruction, and disobedience to the will of God, as presented in the bible they claim to follow. If that guy was called by God, I’m Napoleon.
