Once every few weeks for when I get sick, pull a muscle, prescription refill, physical etc. But it makes it easy to see the doc when he only works a few offices down from you
I go to the doctor at least once every ten years. The last time I went voluntarily was for a health certificate that was required by a school. That was two years ago. Before that was in 2007 when I needed to get my knee checked out for cartilage damage. So I got the 2000s covered, and the 20-teens are squared away, as well. Won’t need to go to the doctor again until sometime after 2020.
Ha, I probably go 10 or (way) more times a year.
I try to avoid going to the doctor as much as I possibly can.
Too many and it’s only going to get worse. I’m going to have to see an eye doctor sometime soon because I just plain cannot make out things like football scores anymore. Sigh
I haven’t been to a doctor for three years, which was when I had a mystery illness and it disappeared on its own. I try to avoid doctors as much as I possibly can.
the picture really suits this post, dan.
Once for a checkup and maybe once or twice when I’m sick. Or step in a stupid hole and sprain my knee.
I hope you don’t die. If you see a light, don’t follow it.
ONLY WHEN IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!!! Ha. I don’t think I’ve been to the doctor in almost (or maybe over) two years and that is a problem. There are some preventative things I should be doing regularly. I’m very skeptical of most doctors… don’t trust most of em.
Nice pic, btw.
I go twice a year to the dentist, once a year to my eye doctor, and once a year to my gynecologist for my annual. I haven’t seen my primary care doctor in like 2 years.
I’ve been to a doctor maybe once in the last 50 years. I had strep throat about 15 years ago. If my doctor looked like the one in the pic, I might go more often.
Don’t say that, don’t accept it! Your words have power, i speak life, wholeness and healing and good health over you.
@lovelybish - this is what I should be doing. I’ve got the dentist covered. Twice a year, like clockwork. But that’s it.
That’s funny, we seem to have the same doctor.
I hope you’re feeling better and not dying.
I went to a doctor twice in the last 30 years. On one of those occasions, after a blood test the doctor called me at work at 8:30 in the morning the next day and told me to get to Cornell Medical Center immediately and said there was a doctor there waiting for me. He later said he couldn’t believe I was walking around much less going to work. On the other occasion I got myself to an emergency room because I didn’t feel right. I was taken in quickly because I had a rash and was having trouble breathing. The receptionist put the blood pressure thingy on my arm then began asking me personal information and medical history. She stopped to check the blood pressure reading and said, “Don’t go anywhere. I’ll be right back.” She closed the office door behind her but I heard someone yell, “I need a cart right away! A cart!” I was like, holy crap I hope that wasn’t her yelling but somehow I knew it was. The world around me started getting blurry. My vision was going. In seconds I found myself surrounded by a team of 5 tearing my shirt off. One of them kept telling me to hang in there. They gave me Epinephrine. I had to spend a few hours in the ER but to my delight they released me and I was able to get home just in time to participate in the 25 player instance with my World of Warcraft Guild. Priorities.
I hope your doctor looked like the one in the pic.
I would guess once or twice, usually just for a prescription renewel
Sorry you are sick If I had a Dr that looked like that, I would be sick all the time
I fear that if I revealed how long it’s actually been since I went to the doctor, I’ll get sick tomorrow. But yeah… it’s been a while. And I never do the once a year checkup thing. When I was young I never needed to because I got a sinus infection at least once a year up until high school, but then it sorta… stopped… and now I hardly get sick anymore.
I probably SHOULD have gone when I was a college freshman and I had a fever for two days and could barely get out of bed, but a shit ton of nyquil cleared that right up. Plus I blew my nose a couple days later and a hunk of snot the size of a golf ball came out, which was kind of awesome.
Please don’t die. I go for annual check-ups and pretty much never otherwise unless I get injured.
I have been going a lot I am now officially a cancer patient and I will be going to another specialist this time a skin cancer specialist
I survived cancer and a near heart attack. My health is greatly improved. Try meditation. As it happens, I started a series… the morning meditation is written. You might want to tweak it for a more manly outcome. Let me know what you think.
You can use any phrases that make sense for you. I wrote it for peacefulness for the younger people. We old guys sometimes need more energy and I use more energetic phrases myself. How is your diet?
Best wishes Hunt
About four times a year, I avoid it unless I think I need antibiotics. I don’t think anyone really LIKES the doctor… avoid whenever possible!
Ehhh, 3 times a year? Though, it’s harder without insurance. so even less than that soon
I’ve been about 2-3 times in my life.
I don’t go to the doctor.
@light_blue_fables - Three big reasons this year: ongoing care and follow-ups for asthma (which I’ve had since I was a child, but when the military sent us to live where we do in oil country Texas, I’ve had nothing but problems from the horrendous air quality – the city literally fails the EPA air quality tests every year, but they just pay the million(s?) dollar fine and don’t change anything because, duh, oil makes more in profits than a measly million for a fine), complex migraines (they are stroke-like and require a lot of testing to make sure it was just a migraine and not something more serious), and then last month, I basically broke my big toe. This year was a medical sonofabitch. HA!
@light_blue_fables - if it weren’t for those yearly check ups being covered with insurance, I probably wouldn’t go.
Aside from prenatal care, I have been to the doctor twice in the last 10 years.
Last year I went to the doctors and medical centre ten times, this year I be up to two times as I got two appointments booked.
If you add in dentist, eye doctor that will be 15 times. I am a hypercondriac maybe.
As little as possible. But, the older I get, the number of times I see a Doctor seems to climb!
Only need my dentist once or twice in a year to take care of these little white crackers
Depends on what sports injury I’ve acquired.
@LSP1 - And if my doctor looked like that I might actually look forward to my Prostate exam!!!
I forgot to add one time for injections to go on holiday, if I could live in the doctors I would.
for refills twice a year. My dr. would look funny in that outfit. lol lol lol but he has beautiful eyes.
Happy New Year, Dan. Hope you’re feeling better.
Usually I try to make it to the doctor, once a year for checkups. Other than that, if I get injured. Waiting for hours just for a few minutes with the doc can be irritating. Public hospitals…how lovely.
2 month to 6months i got two some how in Febuary I hate when I have back to back doctors appointments:)
I try to avoid going to the doctor. I hate going and hospitals. I am always fearing the worst no matter what is going on in my life and it is just not a good time. Besides, it seems like most of the time no one ever helps me. I have problems that I have been dealing with for years and I go and nothing changes so I just say screw it. I try to go once a year at least or more if I am having a particular issue that can’t wait. I know I should not wait years as early prevention for many things is key. I guess once a year for check ups and more for other things is fine.
i try to see my dentist regularly, even though i have to pay out of pocket for that. as for regular doctors, only if i’m totally miserable, in pain, etc. last time i went i had pneumonia, and the time before that, mono. its been about a year-ish since i’ve been.
About three times a month for an appointment or a proceedure
Also about 1 time. Even though last year I didn’t go. The year before that I saw a gyn and ENT. I “should” go at least 3 times a year as I get insurance bonuses if my teeth get checked every 6 months and my breasts examined every year.
I’ve only been to the doctor a couple of times in the last five years, so….0.4 times a year?
I’m getting older, though, so maybe I’ll ’round-up’ to 1x a year. Picking a doctor seems like a big decision, though….!
Also one hospital appointment as well last year.
I get my teeth cleaned twice a year but I usually just see the hygienist, I haven’t been to a medical doctor since 1986 – I’m afraid to go to the doctor, I’m afraid I’ll get what all the sick people have.
I do not want to go to a doctor . but everyone have to go to doctor for a once.
I used to have to go to the doctors all the time. = I had a brain tumor that was removed 2 years ago. I needed my gallbladder out. I was in the hospital for 10+ days because of severe intestine pain. But, the last 8 months or so I haven’t really had to go. Going vegetarian pretty much saved me from my stomach pain.
Although I had to go to the clinic today ._. Sinus infection. This damn upper respiratory virus that is going around everywhere..
Sending good vibes your ways in hopes that you recover 100% quickly. I got to the Dr every three months for blood work for my thyroid levels and medication.
I sat in a hospital for 5 hours waiting for someone to figure out what was wrong with my brother. Does that count?
I do funerals. Also, I visit the hospital daily, though for myself maybe 1 time every other year.
Over the years I’ve averaged three or four visits a year for my primary care, plus specialists. My current health insurance plan is more concerned with saving me money than with saving my health, so I don’t go as much anymore.
Well, for starters…. I think I would go to the doctor every week if she dressed like that… lol.
Teasing aside, I think I try to go at least 2 times a year. (That is if I am not sick, of course). So all in all, I probably go 4 or 5 times a year. Hope your doctor visit went good!
I am probably dying.
Join everyone else in the over-21 crowd.
-netnguy, dying starts happening after you stop growing…
Let’s put it this way, I could work in the medical field with as much time I spend at the dr’s office between myself or our kids. My son has health problems, as do I. And our medical care is free.
I go maybe once a year and that’s only because the doctor has to see me before he’ll write a script for my z pac. I generally need one about once a year due to a respiratory infection.
I hate it when you go to the doctor and they misdiagnose you. giving you something that doesn’t work. it happened to my aunt, and i’m thinking if you are a doctor, and you went through so many years of training, and i pay big bucks to get you to see me, and you give me something that doesn’t work, i think you can’t be a doctor anymore. a doctor’s choice can affect your life, forreal!
Sorry you are sick, but if that’s your doctor, I think you will get well!
I f my doc looked anything like her, I’d be sick a lot more often. Actually, I went to see my dentist today- the first of five appointments. He doesn’t look anything like the model in your title pic.
I go to my female doctor once for the annual exam. Besides that, I probably go 3-4 times. Usually I’m sick (not deathly) and don’t feel like going to class – need doctors notes.

When needed. Some doctors more than others. A certain doctor, about twice a year… But other than that, just when needed, I guess. Thankfully, that’s not too often!
Diabetic so I go about 8-10 times a year between my GP and my endocrinologist.
best doctor picture selection ever.
once a couple of years ago to an ENT doctor for ear thing.
aaand ..once last year to a gastro-something doctor for a stomach thingfor common sickness, i just ask my dad, who is also a doctor himself.
Con este médico voy dos veces cada tres horas
I have almost never been to the doctors. I apparently went once when I was about 3 for an ear infection. And I went once when I was 17 to have a mole removed. I am 26 now and I haven’t been since. I generally go on the theory that if something doesn’t get better in a couple of weeks then I will go to the doctor, and it always gets better in a couple of weeks. Hope you are ok.
At our age (mid eighties), we spend a good deal more time with doctors than we wish to. At last count we have fourteen specialists, dentists, and primary MDs. Thank God for medicare
never. unless i need antibiotics. but that hasn’t happened in a very long time. i hope you feel better soon.
I had my first hospital stay this week. They never did figure out what was wrong and I am having a horrible reaction to the medication. I went in to keep from dying and they may just kill me yet.
