Man, 70, Marries 15 Year Old Girl
I love a good romance story. I many of 70 falls in love with a 15 year old girl. He buys her and then marries her.

i don’t like to judge, but the fact that he is old enough to be her grandfather kind of makes me question it.. :/ that’s a little too old in my opinion.

Age difference between husband and myself, is 10 yrs. Maybe 25-30 yr difference. But you know what, regardless of what I think and how I feel about others, really none of my business. So long as it isn’t my children…. Oh, and I doubt he’s going to make it to age 90….

I am 21 next month and my husband is 29. A 8.5 year difference is the most I would want I think but then again if you really truly love somebody then the age difference doesn’t matter unless laws are being broken.
I stop at 56 years, that’s just too much of a gap.

my mom was 18 and my dad was 25 when they started dating. i mean. i think as long as they are 17-18 years of older. the ager difference doesnt make a difference. It depends on the parties involved and their maturity. i dont belive that any 15 year old is mature or ready for the life-changing notion of marriage, and the responsibilities that come with it. of course, this is coming from a middle class new engliander in the US. i understand that difference cultures see it differently, but i think age difference only begins to blue once both parties are mature and in their adulthood.

I won’t push too much onto this topic but 55 years difference is a bit much I think. I’m not going to judge based on the age too much but rather the connection between the two. He bought her? That seems off in the fact that while he paid to make her his, is there really a connection beyond that?
I believe that in the terms of age it depends on where each person is in their lives. For me, being only twenty I would really just stick with a two year difference either direction (so for me 18-22 seems ideal). Up to about thirty I would hold this format, but probably as I get closer to thirty the range would expand to about a three to maybe five year difference. Another common rule of thumb is the half your age plus seven. I also like to add to this rule to reflect the difference to the other side. So for example a thirty year old would fall into the minimum of 22 (a bit low at this age but for the sake of the example we’ll go with it). Reflect the difference so take eight years (30-22=8) and add it to your age (30+8). So a thirty year old’s range is calculated to 22-38. Seems a bit much at thirty, but when one gets older age seems to matter less. So fifteen falls out of a 70 year old’s category of (taking the appropriate calculation of the second sequence) 42-100+ (weird right?).
So just do some research and we’ll just see where this goes I suppose
I don’t find that there is one as long as both parties are looking for the same thing. I mean granted a 15 year old and a 70 year old might not have as much to talk about… hahah hard to say. depends on what your looking for. but who are we to judge if two ppl claim to be in love (excuse me though, 70 year old man… you BOUGHT a girl and married her? yeah I find that disagreeable only because I don’t find it to be anything genuine..)
At most I would say 15 years as long as the ages are a little bit older.
This is so gross! She is just a baby. Apparently, She didn’t want to be with him because she ran away and went back to her family. Which is odd because they are the ones who sold her but then again she probably had no other place to go. I am glad I live in America where I can chose to marry whoever I’d like. Even though I’m sure there is underground child trafficking her in America. All children deserve better from us all over the world. To answer your age difference question. I think 11 years difference should be maximum. I know that there are some people out there who fall in love with someone who is much older and that’s their life. If they have found love that’s great for them, but personally I wouldn’t date anyone older then that myself. My boyfriend is 8 years older than me and we are so happy! It’s really a personal choice but the major problem with this story is the GIRL didn’t have a choice.
I don’t have a problem with any age difference, as long as the younger spouse/significant other is willing, has attained the age of consent, and was not purchased.
I don’t think age difference is that big of a problem anymore… In this situation though, very outlandish… Some people just don’t have any sense…

This is just wrong on very many levels. It’s not only the age difference, it’s the buying and selling of a human being.
in general, as long as marriage is between consenting people, i guess…
i should be using the word adult, but i’m actually confused as to who actually have the authority to say what is the actual age for a person to be considered an adult.. hence the term adult is in itself can be a subject of a debate..
as for age gap, i don’t know what to think about it anymore, considering many people nowadays don’t actually have the attitude and responsibility that should be matching their age anymore… one person might be 30, but his or her actions and sense of responsibility is like 8 years old kid.. they get married like getting a toy, just throw it away after they are bored with it few months after..
Although here in Costa Rica we have great-great Grandfathers at 60-65 yrs of age, I say, so what!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just get her a good lawyer and a solid trust on his estate. Slip him a Viagra and tomorrow after he goes home smiling, she is set. One day she is sold and the next she is buying.
My parents are almost 10 years apart and even they have a hard time connecting with the generation gap. I don’t exactly exempt people due to age but more so just choose someone who I connect well with. Although, most of the time it seems they are within 5 years or less between age difference to me.

Once again…in order for this to be pedophilia the girl would have to be prepubescent. By constantly slapping the label ‘pedophilia’ on to everything that involves a teenager and an older person, it detracts from the actual topic at hand.
Personally, I think 10 years is the most I’ll accept. However, given she was bought, not fully consented to this marriage, the age gap is not the concern here.

That’s not a love story. The girl was sold to this old man and it’s obvious by her running away from him that she objected. Typical Saudi men, treating women like property. It’s ingrained into their culture. It doesn’t make it right. Kind of makes me sick.

It’s not about age difference so much, as where they are in their lives. Theoretically a 15 year old and a 90 year old could be at the same place in their lives, but then you would have to ask how likely it’ll be that the 90 year old with the emotional IQ of a 15 year old will ever progress.
So no, this is not appropriate at all.
I’m not one to judge, but as I see it, if you are old enough to be someone’s grandfather/grandmother, I’d be put-off.

For me personally 5 years younger or older is my specifications. In general as long as they are both over 18, to each their own. Age is only a number. You both need to be at the same spot in your life and both need to be mature. If one is mature and the other is not, you’re most likely doomed!

i don’t really care. if the age of consent is 18, then if an 18 year old wants to marry a 90 year old, so be it. it’s not my business and i don’t know their relationship. too many people worry about what others are doing instead of focusing on their own lives.
