My first name is Sarah, which means princess. My middle name is Powers.
My previous username, sarahsmurfette, had much more story… It involved drugs, tripping out, and hallucinations of little blue beings on the ceiling.
It’s the Greek word for mystery.
I had recently retired from Sallie Mae (call letters SLM).
I’ll let you guess like usual.
My name (Marica) plus my birthday (July 1). Voila.
For my past two names: Cestovatelka is “traveller” in Czech, and puella_sapiens216 is “wise girl” in Latin plus my favourite number (this was clearly a name chosen during my high school years haha).
I put the word “super” in front of Rob of the Sky.
I got drunk and thought Latin would be a good way to go for a blog name.
@PrincessPowers - I always wondered what happened to Smurfette
I’m a Mommy and my last name is marty… I’m 24 now the age i made the profile…
I was really sick of using the same username for everything back in middle school, but wasn’t creative enough to think of something cool. I asked my friend to come up with something, and this is what he came up with. He pronounced it “shadow-kin” not “shadow-sin.” 9 years later I still enjoy the username, and don’t use it anywhere but here anymore.
My sisters (Lush and Floozie) gave me the nickname “Saint” – rum was involved. The username saint was already taken so I added “vi” which stands for “Village Idiot.”
I was lacking in common sense as a teenager, and my parents used to jokingly call me lightnin’ referring to the character from Amos n Andy.
I have no clue.
I’m half japanese, my friend always called me sake and tatsuyo is a brand of sake in Japan.
I think I had watched an episode of real world (sorry, I’ve grown up and don’t watch that trash tv anymore xp) and someone called one of the guys on there a sad panda. I was thinking something with koala in it, then I was like pandabear… MYPANDABEAR!
so yeah lol
16 year old me thought for three seconds and called it a day.
intuition.
Mine is an old username that I first used on AOL. I didn’t want a name that had numbers after it, so I tried to think of a unique pair of words to put together and BAM! – chaospet was born
Robert Frost.
It seemed thought provoking at the time, I guess. I like that it can mean beauty is being wasted, or that a beauty is wasted drunk I’m all about choices.
my user name is apparently french for ‘she’s nothing’. felt/feels fitting.
I wanted to use my name… but then again did not. lmao
I work in a greenhouse and sow the seeds.
After St Anthony the Great, who was the founder of Christian monasticism, especially in France. But “Anthony” was taken so I went with Anth0ny
It’s my real name. I wish I’d chosen something more creative (and anonymous).
I’ve no idea:( just a name
I was a mom against the whole minivan mafia bs. Now I drive a minivan. In my defense…with the arrival of my third child I could squish 3 kids in the back of a grand am, drive a gas guzzling SUV or give in and drive a minivan.
I’ve had this username since, well, forever. It’s a variation of a best friend’s name when I was child. I thought she had the most awesome name ever! That, and a part of my real name is in it.
@MomWithoutaMinivan - That’s hilarious! We just bought a minivan today. I was against it too and I’m totally in love.
I have a shamrock tattoo….plus i’m irish
This is not my original username, my current username, well you can pretty much guess why I choice when I did last year at some point or could have been the year before that.
It because I promise myself I would not changed my username with this account again.
I was on a robotics team for 7 years.
I am passionate about living and endeavour to live life fully
lol I made a rhyme and came up with this. But I used to have many other Xangas before and those were fun too xD
Mine comes from a nickname, the numbers of my birthday month and days added up (7), and the month and days of my birthday (1/24). No, I’m not a numerologist, but I find numbers interesting.
I started with my personal site (TheMonthlyDaily) in 2003, then adopted someone’s debate site, which I realized to make my own I should reinvent, which is when I created ArgumentsFromTheLeft. When the debate left the political side, I made EvolutionExplains and BibleLies. Then I realized it would be far easier to consolidate them, and created GodlessLiberal back in 2007. That’s been me since then. All four sites combined into one, like a Voltron of awesome.
It’s my name. Well, sort of. Crystal was taken so I needed more. A friend told me “in ne” could be “in New England”; since that’s where I was born/raised, though in reality it’s a squash b/w Crystal and Christine, with yet an added “n” to get it accepted. I didn’t want numbers (like another commenter said) and was getting frustrated trying to find a user name still available that was like my name. Found this worked and stuck with it. It’s pronounced Crystal-een.
Well that’s easy… I used my aim/aol username for inspiration.
iamthebella, created in 2001 on AOL. My sister claims that she use to say “I am the [her name]” and that I took the idea from her and created iamthebella. Yes, I’m a little annoyed my sister says I took her concept and made it my own. If that’s true it makes my username unoriginal Meh, I don’t care… I think Iamthebella is rightfully my creation… lol.
I wanted to think of something that would never change as I got older… Obviously your zodiac sign doesn’t change, so I stuck with that. And at the time I was so busy with swim team, it seemed I’d never stopped. I’d still consider myself a swimmer and I like the flow of the name, so I’ve never been terribly upset with it…
I was listening to a song
I feel stronger, more enthusiastic, motivated and excited about life in the autumn.
At the college where I work. I went to the cosmetology department and told the students that I needed a new user name. A few days later I returned and they had come up with CLOG. Based on who you asked it stands for either cute little old guy or crazy little old guy. I think the later is probably more accurate. My user name change from CLOG to C_L_O_G because the one without the underlines wasn’t available at the time.
IRC handle I had at the time. I don’t use it any more but here, though
My aunt started calling me Megabyyte. So it’s my nickname.
My initial username was an omen to my self-destructiveness (thebottomandback) then the hubby found out the blog name and was going to start reading it so I changed it to “Illypad” which gives props to “How I met your mother” and the fact that I use the name “Ilujna” often in games.
I found a dying bird in my yard one evening. He was a mess of what I thought of as impossible angles. I figured I’m pretty much like that, too. I sat with him until he died.
@ShamrockLover – I loved mine at first. It does have all the bells and whistles and it’s a beast in the snow. But it handles like ass and I can’t get over feeling like a huge dork driving it.
I grew up (and live) in NYC. I am Desi (meaning, Indian). I liked playing legos in the 9th grade. and my junior varsity football jersey number is 24. I made my Xanga at a time when it was cool to put down such self-identifying information in your username.
I was a lonely high school freshman who loved to wander outside at night looking at the stars and contemplating the vastness of the universe. (I still love doing that, but now I live in civilization and I can hardly see the finer details night sky anymore.)
@GodlessLiberal - I actually used to read ArgumentsFromTheLeft many years ago, as one of my friends who was on Xanga at the time had subscribed to it. I never had any idea that it was you.
I honestly don’t remember.
Well – generally I eschew politics – and obfuscation for that matter – but I had a republican friend that had a blog – and I just HAD to tease him! So that’s where the name came from. BUT – that lasted a week – and donkeys have a lot of admirable characteristics – other than the political connotations – so I just kept it! If it would have been a democrat friend – I probably would have picked an elephant – elephants are cool too – but maybe not so funny! Of course there are a lot of elephant jokes! You know how to catch an elephant – right?
fuck if I know?!
like Albert explained I cannot believe that a mom can profit $9561 in 1 month on the computer. did you see this website http://www.rev24.com
Someone had to become the God of Xanga. I took on the responsibility and have never abused the privilege.
And, no, your Xanga persona does not go to Heaven if Xanga decides to shut down. But all dogs do.
My nickname in my high school drama class was “Randi.” randaness is a combination of my name and “randomness.”
I wanted a name I could be proud of…

@MomWithoutaMinivan – what kind do you have? My odyssey drives like a car! I do feel like I lost all sex appeal though. Haha. But it’s my swagger wagon!
I wanted a musical name because of my passion for music, so I thought of a bunch of musical terms. Interlude sounded nice, and is defined as a piece of music in between two things, such as an “interlude” played during a set change of a play. I thought it seemed fitting, as this is a time in my life where I feel like I’m in between who I was and who I am going to be. I feel as though most people feel that during adolescence. And the “B” is for the first letter of my name.
I am 6’10″.
I’m a HUGE, PASSIONATE fan of “The Chronicles of Narnia” by CS Lewis. In the second book (chronologically, the first book in publication), Peter, the oldest of the Pevensie siblings, is given a blessed sword from Father Christmas, and a shield with the crest of Aslan. The sword is called “Rhindon”. As a Christian, the Word of God is also described as the Sword of Truth, sharper than any two-edged sword. And given that CS Lewis was also a Christian, such a sword holds even more significance in the story.
It was randomly generated, and assigned to me by the folks in the Directorate of Support. I can neither confirm, nor deny, any further information relating to said user name.
an american asked me what the difference between canada and a bucket of shit was, his answer: the bucket
i became oddly patriotic after that =P he also introduced me to xanga…
you ?
nickname:turtle
name: fernando turtle + fernando = turtlefer
I actually have no idea. People in my life don’t even call me Jenny! Haha
An empath is a person that can feel what other people are feeling (think Deanna Troy from Star Trek). I am an empath in training still learning how to fully use my ability. That is pretty much where my username comes from.
It was my AOL/AIM screen name in a past life. The ‘i’ was uppercase, so it looked like “Lobot,” which is both a character from Star Wars and the Visayan word for “butt.” In the past, if I was talking to another Filipino, I’d go with the “butt” story. Anyone else, I’d say, “It’s the guy with the computer wrapped around his head from Empire Strikes Back.” and they’d be like, “Ohhh, that makes sense. That’s totally you.”
I was obsessed with Marilyn Manson.
I’ve been on xanga since I was 10 years old.. when I turned 14 I re-read all my childhood hinders and was devastatingly embarrassed, deleted that account (which I now regret, never thinking I would). So I decided to make a new one, but thinking up something original was hard. After a few tries of this and that user name being taken, I settled for unoriginal, which was taken. Then I thought maybe I could just be an adverb, unoriginally. Too bad I spelled it wrong, unorginally, which I thought was original and symbolized a small scaled version of a shitty life lesson.
Myxl Dove means “that really nice guy from Los Angeles” in Klingon. But it can also be translated as, “pour some sugar on me” in Farsi High Speech. Or, you can just read my post: Who Is Myxl Dove?
I only felt like commenting when I was feeling some snark, but it was on topics I didn’t want my friends to realize it was me arguing like a troll on so I made my new xanga site for when I was being snarky.
I live in Texas and my name is Jillcarmel
It was assigned to me by a Mr. Smith from the NSA. He said it would make it easier for certain agencies to “track” me, whatever that means!
@Jenny_Wren - That guy singing, didn’t he used to be famous for something?
There was already some blog somewhere called mommyneedsdrugs, so I didn’t want to steal that. Then I thought, “what drug do I need”? The answer was crack. I need crack.
Mara is old Hebrew for “Bitterness” or “Bitter Water” In the Old Testament, in the Book of Ruth, Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi said, call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.” Other translations, include “God has made my life very bitter”.
