Women and Lying
Women are more clever and successful when lying than men are when they lie.
Susan Shapiro Barash, the author of "Little White Lies, Deep Dark Secrets: The Truth About Why Women Lie," interviewed 500 women lie about "how much money they spend." They also lie about motherhood, "sex, kids' accomplishments, love, family, addiction, work and infertility."

I think maybe some women are just stupid and feel the need to lie about idiotic things such as SHOPPING.
Well, they can utilize their emotions better when lying.
I think people should be taken one at a time when considering thier ability to lie. Envoronment plays a big, big factor. If you spend alot of time with liars, you'll get better at it yourself. Take Hillary Clinton for example...... 'nuff said.
see chris rock's view on this. guys lie about things like where they were last night. women lie about bigger things (he says like "you're the father"). are we better at it? i dunno...but i'm pretty good :)

No... they just lie about diffrent things.
This is probably a consequence of their being more successful and clever at virtually everything at least when it comes to dealing with men. We guys tend to be pushovers when it comes to the women in our lives much more often than we pretend to be.
I don't think there's a gender difference. I think it just depends on the person and his or her own level of integrity.
Depends on the person. I'm of the xx persuasion and I suck at lying. I get all nervous, I stammer, I avoid eye contact. It's tragic, I need to develop some dishonesty skills... Little white lies are no problem for my conscience, i.e., "No, your ankles do not look chubby", or "I'm sure she really meant it when she said size doesn't matter...".
I'm not sure...as far as I know I've only been lied to by men. maybe that tells me something right there.
I think it depends on the person, I don't think it can be made into a sex thing by comparing- it may be a personality thing.
it depends on the person. i don't this is a sex thing. some people are just better at keeping a poker face.
Of course we are. We have the need to speak more than men, and so we have more of a talent for lying more than men, because everyone knows you have to open your mouth to produce a lie. Or to just keep it shut, to confirm one.

absolutely. but then, im a woman, so maybe im not aware of it when men lie to me... maybe they're actually so much better at it than me that i dont even realize when im being lied to- yikes?
Men and women lie an equal amount.
Both men and women lie a lot. Maybe overall women are smoother about it. But men life quite often too, especially to women. Ravnr is right, everybody is a liar.
Oddly though, I don't lie very often because I don't like having to keep my stories straight. My memory just isn't good enough. I try not to do too much to lie about.
