Black Children in the Pool
A group of black children were refused access to a private pool.
(Generally a photo of black children would go here but xanga's photo is down right now. Picture in your mind black children).
The President of the club said in a statement, "There was concern that a lot of kids would change the complexion … and the atmosphere of the club." Here is the link: Link

"Change the complexion." Ha! The club prez made a funny! But to answer the question: YES! Of course having black kids would change the complexion and atmosphere of the club. And it sounds like that club could use a change in complexion.

A bunch of kids might change the "atmosphere" of a club (with noise and higher activity levels, etc.), but that pertains to kids of all races. There's no reason to bring race into it at all.

Here is what he really meant:

"We are all a buch of old racist assholes who do not want to see blacks, or any other color person that isn't white as snow, in our club. However, so we don't come off as racist assholes to other racist assholes, we are going to use a whole bunch of fancy words and exclude the word "black" in front of "kids" to seem as though we are meaning any group of kids of any race, but mostly those that aren't white as snow."

Uhm...NO. What should it matter what skin color they are?? Maybe they're white, with a really dark tan.

Excuuuuuuse me??!! What is this, the 50's??? This is the most racist thing I have heard of in this day and age. Since when are "blacks" a minority in America? The ratio is 5:1. I'd consider that a second place majority. Does this mean they'll kick out anyone who's Asian or Arab too? What the hell does "majority" or "minority" have to do with swimming in a pool anyway? And what's with this "complexion" and "atmosphere" bullshit? White people are there to get a tan anyway, so what does it fucking matter?
This is such backwards thinking that I can't wrap my own head around it. I feel bad for these kids. I sensed confusion on their part in the article and I don't blame them. I'm also outraged to read that the all the white kids got out of the pool when the black kids got in. SHAME ON THEM!!!

Why am I laughing at this? I can't stop laughing....
At first I thought it said that the black kids were gonna change the complexion of the pool as in dirtying the water. Anyway...
This stuff shouldn't be surprising at all, though. When black people start to inhabit a place, most of the..whites gradually leave and the place eventually becomes *all black* and the place is not esteemed as highly (read: at all). When the...original inhabitants flee they take all of their...wealth and prestige with them.
So they are trying to prevent...wait what is it? I think one of the names for it is white flight. But they just end up being racist themselves.
