Too Fat to Fly?
A photo of an overweight man in an airplane seat is making its way around the internet and now the press.
The photo was taken by an airline flight attendant to show the problem with overweight passengers. Here is the link: Link
The concern is that it is difficult for other passengers plus a general flight hazard because he is taking up the aisle.
According to the article, overweight passengers are sometimes charged for two seats because they are so large.
Should an obese person be charged for two seats on an airplane?

Yep.
But if they get charged for two seats, it's only fair two skinny people can go in halves on one seat, right?
If they take up 2 seats, then yes.
It's embarrassing for them, but yes.
You'd almost have to think so OR the airlines take the hit and give him 2 seats and then lose his luggage for payback.
He's not just fat, though, he's also BIG.
We should ban everyone over 5' 10" and 160 lbs.
Yes.
how will fat people get their culture?!
If they take up two seats, that's a seat the airplane is losing that could have been used by another passenger, so yeah they should pay.
But only if they take up two seats.
yes
@Dare2BDiferentt - YES. and no :( you stole my comment.
Airlines might want to look into building in seats for individuals who are very large, like they have designated handicap seating (not that I'm saying a large person is handicap).
The person in the picture sure as hell should. That's a safety hazard from so many angles. Nevermind the poor people stuck IN the row with him.
Well, he's taking up a seat and the practically the entire damn aisle. In an emergency, how are the people next to and behind him supposed to get out if he were unconscious or dead?
Yes.
I think they should. It's unfortunate, but safety first, IMO. Aisle blocking is a no-no.
@Dare2BDiferentt - Haha, you're so clever... :p

i mean thats an obvious yes. Hes pretty much 2-3 people so its only fair. Its the same as people paying more for larger clothes because more material and work goes into them.
That's one big mofo.
If you're paying by the seat and you can't fit in just one, then yes. Airlines sometimes reimburse for the extra seat if the flight isn't full, though. However, the airline attendants shouldn't be taking photos of passengers and posting them on the internet. I'd threaten a lawsuit if I was that guy.
If I were in charge of an airline I would make them pay for two seats. When you buy a ticket you are purchasing an allotment of space, if you are unable to fit into that space then you should be charged for the space you use.
Not to mention that such a rule helps keep the all important weight and balance calculations more accurate.
Everyone should pay for the seats they use. If you are using two seats you should be paying for two seats. So if you are of a size that requires two seats you should pay for them and if you only weigh 90 pounds soaking wet but insist of bringing a carryon, laptop three pillows, a huge blanket etc. and plan to shove over into my seat you should also have paid for two seats because you are not getting mine and your stuff sticking into the aisle is just as much a hazard as that guys fat. Anyone who needs two seats for any reason probably knows they need them at ticket purchase and should pay for those two seats.
LOL yeah they big
Wow, that guy is just plain big. Not just fat, but tall and broad.
If they use two seats, they should pay for two seats. It's just business.
@AlterEgo909 - if they start making room for larger people then thats giving the OK to be as large if not larger than him. Handicapped people and morbidly obese people are 2 completely different things. One you cant help. the other you just suck it up and get 2 seats or drive yourself to your destination.
if one thinks rudely but business is always rude...you are charged more to deliver more so if you having them deliver more carcass, you pay for more carcass to be delivered- what is the luxeries of first or higher classes? MORE space, take a gander at their homes! so rude business says yes.
human not being so much meat say we pay per person- this is valid to their interests and thus reasonable.
Wise King Solomon of biblical myth, history or whatever figured to solve this dilemma that he judged the baby shold be split in two- you may think I refer to seats costing 1.5 a FAT bargain. or split fatty in two thus eliminating his weight problem....but probably giving him death- thus no more problems of whether it matters if he should pay extra...why he bought the farm already!....
sure, if they take up two seats.
of course, it would never "fly" to have a section of really big seats, because people would feel bad, and small kids with bad parents would play in them. i'd pay extra for a double-sized seat, though. i like the space, and i'd like to get away from the people who try to chat me up on planes. flying is serious business. that's why i bring magazines and headphones.
