Giving Up Your Facebook Password
I was reading an article about how some employers have asked people being interviewed for their facebook password.
In some cases, potential employers have had people open up their facebook account and click through photos and other facebook information. Here is the link: Link
Imagine you went into an interview and you were being offered a job making $40,000 a year.
Would you give your potential employer your facebook password?

No, I would not.
Not a chance. I don't think an employer can legally ask to view that, but they can view what is "public" when reviewing a candidate. Besides, I don't think the owners of the strip club I dance at know how to use the web.
Absolutely not. I made 40K last year without having to do that. Invasion of privacy, that's what that is.
I would tell them they are proper fucked.
No...
I don't see how it's any of their business.
I would merely say, "There are no nude photos of myself, I do not drink, or smoke, or attend places where people act lewd." If that isn't enough... well, I don't know what to say. My life is my life.
Nah, I have too many nudes floating around in there.
Sure, why not. It's just Facebook I don't really care. I mean, they probably wouldn't hire me if they saw how lesionicly slutty it was, but I don't really have a problem with it.
Nope. To me it's similar to an employer asking for the key to your house. It just reeks of an invasion of privacy.
Offered a cut in pay! that was a fast interview
There's nothing to hide in there...my xanga, I wouldn't lol
I would think that many employers would want to hear that I don't give my password out to anybody!
uh...no...that sounds like a test to me.
As unprofessional as anything on my facebook could be, I consider it to be far more unprofessional to be asking for my facebook password. How stupid.
why should I? That's my private page.
I would hope they were joking and if they were not I would walk out. I don't want to work for a company who want's to take advantage of their employees.
they can look at the public access but that is all without a court order...I have nothing to hide but that is an invasion of privicy plain and simple...and sorry sometimes me brain don't even give me some of my passwords...lol...smile
No friggin' way. I wouldn't even want to work for a company that needed to inspect my facebook account. I'd end the interview and leave. End of story.
No
I'd lie about having a facebook.
That's like asking to take a walk through your house.
As my facebook is pretty much devoid of, well, everything. I wouldn't have a problem in that sense. "You want to see nothing? Here's nothing."
However, I do have a problem of them forcing people to do this as a standard requirement for a job. Interviewers are supposed to find out about people through questions. This seems lazy to me.
I'll unblock it, but they aren't getting my password. I have nothing to hide, I just think it's an invasion of privacy.
My time is my time. My stuff is my stuff. If I applied for a job and they asked to come into my apartment, I'd walk.
Sure the boss can have it if he wants it. It's only for friends and family photos anyway. I love that your counts shows only 1 view but already has 24 comments. I should screen shot that but I'm too lazy
