How to Increase Comments
I was reading a post by Myxldove and he mentioned several reasons why someone would not comment on a post.I thought that was an interesting topic but it still left me wondering if there might be a way to increase comments. How do you increase comments on your posts?

Put NSFW in the title.
How about just copy exactly what you do? You seem to get tons of comments so your obviously doing something right. Lol.
Show titties!
That's a really good question. I have been wondering the same.
Mention boobs in the post title then people comment with "aww you tricked me with the boobs"... it's worked for me a few times.
@Shadowrunner81 - bwhahahahaha. good one. caught me!
Ask people about themselves. People are inherently selfish. People want to talk about themselves and their life, their love, their advice. There's nothing wrong with it. I am a victim of selfishness at times also. Isn't that how you do it Dan? How you get so many comments on a three sentence post? You ask people their thoughts? I know this hint and yet I never use it. Because I don't care about comments very much.
make a bunch of fake accounts and comment on your own site. it may not increase real comments, but it will increase comments.
You don't need to worry about it
@Shadowrunner81 - That will ensure views, but not comments.
Talk about sex
The questions at the end help, I think.
Maybe having your xanga pic of you shirtless? Nah
It's kinda like the saying"You can lead a horse to the water but you can't make him drink" You can get people to your posts in many ways, but getting them to actually comment?Thats a horse of another color.
For instance, the post I have up now I get several looks but few comments.I am always interested to see what someone looks like and how they sound and when I see someone post a Vlog like I have up,I go see it to get a better idea who they are.People just don't comment as much anymore,I know I don't.
Depending on the title, some people with dirty minds will drop by and they will leave a comment some of the time. lol!
Put up a link to pretty much any news article (but preferably a hot button issue), a provocative picture, and then ask a loaded, douchebaggy question. Voila!
Dear Dan,
I love this question because I remember one of the first attachments ( I still have) from the old Featured Grownups blogring is an article from you telling how to increase comments and promote your blog on Xanga. You'd only been here about a year too and your blog was already the #1 destination blog.
There are "destination blogs" like yours and regular blogs like mine. I've always wanted mine to be a destination blog, but like most bloggers, over time I've developed a "readership".
If I want more comments, I have to socialize, visiting and commenting.
There might be more insidious or grandstanding ways of getting comments I suppose, this being Xanga and all, but I like the old fashioned way, as I say, like writing letters in the "age of paper". I call it "correspondence" or "comment exchange".
I've got at least a dozen specific blog "sections" and the most "popular" have always been the humorous or parody posts. I can usually assure more comments than usual when posting parody.
In these heady days of Xanga 2.0 it seems a good way of generating more comments is to use the @ a lot.
Or simply to try and stir the pot concerning the major issues of the day.
Ahem. That's the niche you carved out back in 2005 or so if memory serves.

I promise to keep my clothes on if people come and comment. Threats work.
Say something you know will piss people off, don't have friends lock or sign in lock, and make a catchy title. Also, keep the blog to as little words as possible because most folks don't like to really have to think. The best crowd to piss off for a lot of attention is liberals. Which isn't very difficult. Just watch the responses to this comment!
lol With my old Xanga... I would talk about my sex life or when I wrote something pertaining to my horrible spiraling mood I would get an increase in comments. Oh and there was that one time I posted pictures I was going to submit into a contest...
lol. Honestly I think it just depends on if what the person is writing about feels like it's really them. It can't feel forced.
and um.. socialize like some one else up there has said. I think you socialize well.
Simulate warmth and mimic love, act popular, be a buffoon 16 hours a day...be appealing to the non discerning mind..
boobs
Yep, boobies.
Ask questions, duh!
