Serving In the Military
I served in the military. I was in the Air Force. One of my brothers was in the Army and the other brother was in the military. This is one of my favorite photos:I was talking to a person today and we both were suggesting to family members that maybe it was not a good idea to join the military.Did you ever consider joining the military?

I did consider it and i am very glad that i never did join.
I was in, and I had fun, but it was a death sentence when I got out. Everyone tried to steal the few resources that military gave me.
That picture touches my heart. No I never considered joining. I have great respect for those who do.
No way + I woulda moved to Canada or go to jail if I was drafted.
Going in was my whole life in high school. I never did paperwork for college, because of it. Went in, did 8 months, got out. Sometimes I wish I had stayed, but then I remember everything I've got because I came home.
I saw a more popular xangan today say that they didn't care about Military because they chose to do it. I was like "and you better be fucking happy they did". My brother just got back from Afghanistan last week. My other brother was in Iraq and my other brother in Dessert Storm. I myself am not allowed in the military, because I have PTSD, but I probably would have joined had I not gotten so sick in high school. I would join today if I could. I am dependent on anti psychotics though to function, and that's obviously a dead giveaway that I have a mental illness.
the first time I saw that picture, it made me want to cry!
I have A TON of respect for those in the military! A "Thank you" doesn't seem like enough for all the sacrifices they make for all of us!
I've considered it, and I've still not decided I do not want to.
I briefly thought about it. I had a recruiter pursuing me hard during my senior year of high school. Given the money they give you after service for schooling it seemed worth considering. But I eventually decided that I wouldn't acclimate well to military life.
I attempted to join the army a couple of times but never followed through. I think at that time (16) I wanted a interdisciplinary institution and physical challenge in my life. Now that I'm older, I can see the arguments against such an institution.
I considered joining the Navy, but back then women weren't allowed to do much more than office work. Then I got married and my husband joined the Navy.
I never joined--during the Korean conflict. If you joined back then it was 4 years, but if drafted 2 years.
I was in the Navy and spent two six month tours off the coast of Vietnam. Our son was also in the Navy.
What good is joining the military except for the benefits?
Who want's to fight for one citizen's right to make another citizen pay for their birth control pills and abortions? The last election made military service a farce, just like in Europe.
I considered it. My dad was in the Navy but is a disabled vet. I don't think I could do it. Seeing all the pain he is in every day is tough :(
My dad was in WWII, I was in Nam, my daughter Iraq.
I didn't, but I would very much like to fly a few of their planes. I would also answer were I beckoned; I feel it is highly noble. What I do not understand is that people that serve do not speak on their experiences.
No.
My husband was a Marine.
I do not want any of my children joining while people who are running things this way are still running things though. America is NOT the police of the world and their squabbles are NOT worth OUR blood. (Especially when they don't even want us there most of the time.) I wish congress and Obama had to strap on a gun and face what they send our boys to do. Or THEIR kids. They wouldn't be so willy nilly about where we fight and what we fight over THEN.
I'm set to go into basic training next year in October. I'm joining the air force so that I can get a good start into engineering. I want to earn my PhD, and that's a bajillion dollars in student loan debt, so I figured the G.I benefits could help. I'm nervous, though, change is always intimidating to me once I get comfortable with a certain lifestyle. I'm trying to earn my associate's in general studies before I go in so that it will go toward my entering rank. It sucks, though, because I've wanted a back tattoo for a while, but I signed all of my information and body mod information with my recruiter before I got it.
No, but I wanted to work in the defense industry.
No i didn"t because women didn"t do that when I was young. Hubby is a Nam Vet.
Happy Vets Day to you Dan.I considered it, but I don't think I ever will.
