Animal Olympics
Animal rights activist are upset over what is called the “Animal Olympics.” It takes place in Shanghai which is the largest city of the People’s Republic of China. Animal rights activist have already been protesting the treatment of animals in China.
In the Animal Olympics, a kangaroo is placed in a boxing match with a man in a clown suit.

The kangaroo is said to be hit hard in the head. But it is reported that the kangaroo will hit back too. The kangaroo is reported to be one of 300 athletes in the event.
Is fighting a kangaroo any different than fighting another man in the Olympics?

A man going into a ring is making aconscious, informed decision about wanting to be in that ring. The kangaroo does not have that luxury. So in terms of choice, no it’s not the same. The kangaroo is getting forced.
In terms of the actual fight– I have no idea. I do know kangaroos have awfully powerful back legs and tail, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they killed people.

Yes, it’s different. Animals, agressive as some may be, still don’t deserve to be used for sport. That’s just stupid and inhumane.
A big red (a full-grown male kangaroo) can break a man’s neck with one jab, much less a flurry or a kick. I honestly would rather deal with Mike Tyson than a big red.
But other than that, it raises ethical issues. The kangaroo is not there by its own consent, unlike a human opponent.

Just a little, but the kangaroo has defensive insticts and people actually are able to think out what exact punches they can land. The kangaroo has no advantage and may not be a challenge if the animal olympics catch on to other nations. Kanagroos belong in Austrailia, and clowns belong in a circus. (For that matter, circus’ tend to have problems with how animal rights claim that their animals are treated, but then again, they don’t duke it out with a kangaroo.)

As for the whole kangaroo boxing thing… it’s definitely different than fighting a man. It’s cruel, I think. The kangaroo can’t choose whether or not to fight. You can’t just go beating on some poor defenseless animal. Well actually, maybe defenseless is the wrong word… that kangaroo could do some damage. Still, I think this is wrong.

Humans are smarter (well some are) and in a fight you can usually anticipate what your opponent will do. But with an animal you can never know what they are thinking. Even though the kangaroo is less intelligent it makes up for it in power.
