Prayer
We sometimes pray before eat. We will sometimes pray asking God for help.
Do you think God hears your specific prayers?

I do indeed
Absolutley.
definitely!!
Yes. He listens to all of them. Top 5?
I don’t believe in God. But if you believe in God, I hope he hears your prayers.
of course God does. =)
yep.
at church one time we did a ‘jumbled prayer’. everyone prayed their own prayers out loud at the same time. God heard ‘em all.
I don’t understand how people KNOW god heard them.
I don’t pray, but I AM proactive.
Yes.
yup
Why wouldn’t He?
Yes, he hears all prayers.
If he does, then he sure likes listening to dirty things.
yes
yes.
I don’t know… I hope so, but I really am not sure. I’ve never really prayed for little things anyways, though. I pray for the things I think actually matter.
I think He does.
I think so
Definately. He said He would.
Of course He does.
Yes
If I did, yes.
Of course.
i really hope so
My pastor always says, “pray generally, receive general answers. pray specifically, receive specific answers.”
and it’s true.
yeahup
God hears every prayer, no matter how big, small, or insignificant we think it is, and He answers them all differently.
He hears is before we say it..he knows our thoughts and our whole being. The Creator knows all things..
yes.
Unless I “cherish iniquity in my heart” (Ps. 66:18), He not only hears them but He also answers them. Sometimes He doesn’t answer the way I’d like. Nevertheless, He always answers according to His will … not mine.
YES- I think he hears the little ones the most….
I thank God for those small miracles.!
He listens to all of them.
No, he doesn’t.
Because specific prayers are normally greedy prayers.
or, a prayer with a problem that you can fix yourself,
and are just too lazy too.
people need to rely on themselves and other to see them through.
not God.
God only comes when it’s absolutely nesicary.
and even then, nothing comes out 100percent okay.
I think so.
Yes!
Yes, definitely.
Yes, I do.
Now his answer may not be what we want it to be…but he does answer us as well.
every one of them
hell yeah!
Of course He does. He hears them because He is all-powerful- but He listens, too, becuase He is a loving God, and I am one of His people.
I don’t know…I’ve been praying specifically for Jessica Alba for a while now….hmmmm….I’m starting to wonder.
A resounding YES! I would not have made it through the last four years without my specific prayers and the prayers of my fellowship. Even the blessings, that we take for granted, are overwhelming, especially when faced with so much negative. We just tend to over look them.
God is omniscient. It may not hear, but It knows what you thing, It knows what you do.
I don’t know, there’s too many people.
No time.
yes
no
He listens to all of our prayers, but it is up to Him whether he “grants” them or not.
Sure does
Without question He hears and answers. We don’t always think He answers because often the answer we get isn’t the one we want.
Probably not.
No… =(
Yes…he has 3 answers. Yes, Not Yes, and I Have something better for you.
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”
Sometimes I have doubts that He does but then He answers them so yes, He does. All the time.
It was a cold and the streets were covered in ice. Just ahead of us a head on collision. My wife had just taken the baby out of the child seat and sat him in her lap. He had been crying for some time. I slammed on the brakes and the car went into a sideways slid. I let off the brake and the car straightened up. I cried “Jesus!” just before impact. The cars turned sideways and parted. As our car drove through the wreck you could hear metal being torn on both sides of our car. After the car came to a stop I got out. Not even a scratch on our car.
You tell me.
My son went skiing in Colorado. On the way down the slope he fell head first and was heading straight for a tree. The paramedics at the top of the hill came rushing down after they heard a large cracking noise. They stood over him and asked if he was ok. He opened his eyes and said yes. Something had pushed him out of the way just before his head hit the tree.
You tell me.
My daughter was smuggling religious materials in to a country that forbade them. She had to make a trip from that country into the next to get them. She was getting lost. Then two men sitting at an out door cafe just smiled and pointed her in the direction of the book shop. As she was carrying her suitcase full of materials throught the train station a very large muscular man grabbed her bags and carried them straight through the check point. None of the guards even acknowledge his presence. Then on the train he disappeared. Twice that happened.
you tell me.
If your god is really all-seeing and all-knowing… you’d think he’d be all-hearing, too.
Now, whether he does anything about your prayer or not is another question.
Eh, lately everything I’ve prayed for has been shoved in my face as the opposite of what I prayed for. I’m staying a christian but I’m pretty pissed.
yes.
i believe he does
I do think he does (at least most of the time).
Yes.
It would kind of defeat the purpose of praying to somebody who didn’t listen.
absolutely
maybe…
Most Deffinately
Yes, today I was making lasagna and I was making two extras to take to other people and even though I only bought enough sauce to make two I prayed to be able to make it go on all three and sure enough, I did. I think he even listens to the little things.
I have many, many other examples of prayers I’ve made that have come true. Some may consider them purely coincidental but I know that God has been there too many times for them not to be.
Yes, I know he hears us.
Since he has answered mine…..I know he does.
Nope
yes
Yes.
yep
Of course! He is God! duh
In the perfect fantasy world that I would love for us all to live in, yes. It provides security and continues the good thoughts we put out and provides hope and we all know as long as there is hope there is life.
But omnipowerful can just as easily mean he has more than anyone else.
Omnipresent means if you and I are here and we have a piece of him within us then he is here with our presence.
But keep on praying as we all benefit from the good thoughts.
GOD HEARS ALL PRAYERS…
Like it says in the movie, “I can’t help hearing…I don’t always listen.”
of course!
Yeah.
WHO?
Nah, too many people out there.
Yeah man. I think that if you pray and you really really mean it, he’ll def. answer your prayer.
When I (as a joke) pray, I only pray for people to die horribly, for sex, for food, to sleep in, to look better, to get mo’ money, and to spite those really cool people.
But, prayer is pointless. Might as well rub a lamp.
You only hear about the positive effects of prayer.. like how someone can pray that they get to work on time, and what do you know, they hit green lights and no traffic all the way there. God’s doing? No. You’re lucky. Next time, wake up earlier. Or someone can be ill, and everyone prays for them to get better, and what do you know, full recovery. God’s doing? No. Skilled doctor’s. Powerful medicine. Strong human will to survive. You don’t hear about the rape victims that plead to God for years for their abuse to stop. You don’t hear about the mothers that send prayers up to God for money to keep their children from starving, just to watch them slowly die. Nope, it’s all in God’s plan, right? No. It’s an egocentric way of thinking that you’re more special than everyone else.
Yes, I believe God hears every prayer.
i think he hears all prayers
Always. He hears you. He doesn’t always answer. I think because it isn’t what He wants for your life.
Now there’s always the people who ask “How do you know He hears you?” That’s hard to answer, but something inside of you always feeels better after praying. You rest easier & it just brings peace to your life.
Always, Ashley
Yes.
Yes….even the smallest ones. He has answered so many prayers, even the seemingly insignificant ones, that I know He is always there listening and caring about even the hairs on my head.
Yes, why would he reject his own son?
But i dont think he answers prayers of like “Please God let me win this baseball game” becuase then he would be going against the other teams prayer, I think he grants them only if it does not lead to the detrement of another praying person.
But then again if he answered every prayer why would anyone pray? Their lives would be perfect and you would have no more need to pray, so you would stop the worship of God and so you… go to hell? I dont know but Prayer brought dear grandma back to life AFTER those “skilled doctors” stopped giving her medicine and told us she would die. But then again God did not save my friends mom from cancer. “The lord giveth, the lord taketh away”
of course…….. if he didnt then this would be pointless, but he does…..
Yes, if we have a personal relationship with Him (if we are saved in His grace).
Yes. Every little one. Every utterance of praise and worship, every request, every lamentation. Sometimes He answers with a “yes”, sometimes with a “no”. But He always hears – and He always answers.
Sure…
yes. That’s most of the basis of our belief in a personal relationship with God.
Yes.
Are you suggesting he might hear non-specific prayer?
I hope so.
I have seen a kid become healed after a friend was praying for him.I have seen more than enough things to lock in my faith. Still it seems unreal…but yes i believe God hears all prayers. But what we dont comprehend is that even though it may hurt…not all prayers should be answered. Everything happens for a reason….thats what i believe…
no i believe praying is broken up into topics and put into groups. so go in the fix-but-answer box while others go right to fix-and-help…………….while others go into the dont fix.
i dont know; im to drunk to reason this out. sorry but with what i have said i bet you get my point??
Prayer is a psychological thing we say for ourselves. For who we aspire to be, to summon the strength to achieve our goals. That is the power of prayer and if it is God so be it.
yes. i think he does.
Dan, do you ever get tired of xanga and constantly updating?
Definatly.
I hope so, been praying alot lately….’til the next
Yes.
yes
Yes – He hears every prayer no matter how large or small.
Yep
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
He does hear your prayers…He has heard mine and i know that He is faithful…He has been in the past, He is, and He always will be. He’s brought me from drugs, being homeless, etc, to being about to pay $600 a month (for the past 10-11) without any sort of income, to an internship, and He’ll continue. I have one more month left, and i know on Dec 15 at 10am i will be graduating from this internship because He will provide the rest of the $800 that i need. Homeless, to rich…He owns the cattle on a thousand hills.
YES!!!
It’s less a question of if he can hear them, it’s more a question of if he can do anything about them.
I KNOW God hears and answers my prayers.
Of course. :] But I also think it depends on how you approach the prayer.
Of course he does!
No.
no doubt about it
As a parent, I hear my child’s requests. Some times what he is asking for is a good thing, like he wants lunch, but say I know that today we’re going to his friend’s house for an early dinner instead and only offer him some crackers to tide him over. He’s too young and limited in his understanding to know even when I explain to him that there is something better I have planned for him. So he throws the cracker and yells at me “You never listen to me!” or “You don’t love me!” (sound familiar?)
We were in a toy store buying a gift for someone else, and he saw a set of skateboard toys he reeeally wanted. What I said was no. What he doesn’t understand is that the last time I was in that toystore I had seen that very self same item (even selected that specific one of the eight varieties!) and knew it was exactly what his heart would desire and so thinking ahead, and already anticipating his desire, I had purchased it early for a Christmas gift for him. Sometimes when we think God is telling us no all the time, he is telling us to have patience.
If only we could trust God’s love for us.
In those extreme cases in life, the starving, the rape victims, etc that are praying to God, He hears them; If I am someday a victim of some great pain or misfortune, I would be comforted to know that God was with me through it and I would pray earnestly, because often its the very act of praying and having faith that will keep you whole through the pain. Prayer (or some might practice it as meditation) is part of finding purpose for living.
God cares for every sparrow. How much more so does he love us, those He made in His image.
yes
He sure does. But sometimes He doesn’t answer them in the way you would expect.
Yes.
From a Christian standpoint, yes.
[Meaning that I don't really pray anymore.]
Yes
yes
Absolutely!
Of course he does, HE IS GOD!
Yes, He hears ALL prayers no matter how small or big we may think they are.
Of course.
yeah.
two things:
a) he hears it, but he is more likely to do something if you pray in a group;
b) must end it in “I pray in the name of…”
Yes, I have seen many answers to prayer that I know could not of happened without God’s intervention in the situation. I have seen the impossible, still be impossible and yet happen. I have seen someone pray for someone’s eye that was out of its socket and it went back in. When I was younger, when things didn’t go the way I thought they should after I prayed, I thought maybe God didn’t hear but now that I am older and things don’t go the way I think they should….like the recent loss of our 13 month old foster baby we had since birth…. I realize its a bigger picture that God is weaving and I just haven’t seen the end yet. He absolutely hears me and He sees me even more when the tears are streaming SILENTLY down my face and I have no words to say but He hears my heart.
Yes!!!!!
If I did, I’d hope so.
hell, doesn’t god do whatever we want him to?
don’t like gays? oh, didn’t god hate gays all along? and bill clinton! god hates him too!
…What God?
No. Because there is no god.
Definitely.
You betcha
Yeah.
geterright
I was sadistically raped and tortured for 6 months straight by a group of men. It started just after I had rededicated my life to Christ and I had been baptized. I pleaded and pleaded with god to make them stop, or if not that then to just let them kill me and stop hurting me so badly.
They didn’t stop. It got worse. I lost a child. They left me unable to have children, unable to have sex, and with severe mental disorders that make my life a living hell.
I’ll use your words.
“You tell me”.
i know he does. sometimes the answer is no when we ask, but he always hears our prayers and requests. i have never heard God talk to me, but when i pray, i feel him listening. which sounds silly, but its true,
what do you mean by god????
i believe that God hears everyone’s specific prayers, voiced or unvoiced, conscious or unconscious, from believers and non-believers and disbelievers alike. whether we can perceive the answers is an entirely different matter. also, we don’t always receive what we asked for, even if we always receive what we need.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.Tell God what you need and thank Him for everything He has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4: 6-7 So, the answer to your question is Yes.
God hears everything; many times when we pray and not see it “working out” is because it’s probably something we don’t need or we just aren’t sincerely asking.
Yes
If God didnt want to hear our prayers He wouldnt have sent His son to die for us.
no
I’m so bad. I usually forget to pray before I eat.
I usually pray just…whenever (not just when I need something, mind you). I don’t keep track of when I do and how many times.
yes, but sometimes we often think that he doesn’t answer when in all actuallity he does. God will say: no, yes, or not right now. and since he is God we can rest assured knowing that his answer is for the best.
as long as they’re sincere.
Yes, I am sure of it!
Of course. Now I don’t think God is necessarily going to do anything about it, but putting that energy out in prayer/meditation/creative visualization has to do something if you really mean it.
YES!
Definatly. Last year, I was living on the street. This year, I live in a mansion^_^. If that isn’t the work of God, what is?
If he hears them, why doesn’t he do anything about them? And since he doesn’t do anything about them, what’s the point?
yep
God doesn’t need to hear our prayers. The Bible says he already knows what we’re going to say before we say it.
So it’s not so much a “him hearing them”
as a
him knowing them because he’s omnicient and omnipresent and all that.
Yes. I have an effective praying ability. It is because I have had God’s intervention in my life, and believe in the same kind of miracles that I have been involved with, previously in my life. He wants me to show what He can do, through me. I have needed His intervention so many times, in my life, that I have come to view living life as a condition that we show God’s work through us, in any situation when it is needed. I do not often “say grace” before my meal, but I have been in places where it has “taken on” when I started it, and is a time when a person can bring matters to God’s attention. It is definitely a pious action that shows others that we are God-fearing people. Prayer is a religious act, adn takes courage to do so, in public. I respect others that do this.
Still on God’d good humor.
Always,
Tyger
Yes He does.
God hears all prayers
yeah definitely… too many times things have happened for it all to be coincidence.
Yea Duuh!
yes. i don’t know how, but that doesn’t matter. it’s part of the mystery. we’re not supposed to know.
I definitely think so. The Bible says God knows how many hairs we have on our heads, so why would he ignore anything we talk to him about? He cares about it all! No matter how small, He just wants you to share it with Him.
Most Defiinately!!! And if God Brings you to it he will bring you Thru it!
Does he exist? I don’t think he listens to the newbie/occasional prayers. He probably drops in once in a while to listen to the extremely pious kids.
No….I don’t believe in fairy tales.
heck yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course..God is here to help us no matter what!
Of course.
No.
Just no.
Yes, I believe God answers our specific prayers more than He answers general prayers which are often too big to see any results of……like praying that all people in Africa will be saved……How would we know? But, God answered my specific prayers to get into college, to get a job, to have children, to raise up leaders for a ministry, to be able to bless someone today or encourage someone today……and on and on
Absolutely.

I think that God hears every prayer. Regardless of how it is said, muttered, or thought. You can pray to God by thinking, speaking, writing, whatever you want. I think that each one is heard.
Also I think that it is acceptable to ask for help from God as many times as you need. I think that God loves that about us. I believe that we were designed to bring God glory. Let’s think about it as if we were parents, which a lot of us are, would it bring glory to you if your son or daughter asked you for help when he or she needed it? Yes it would.
Also I think that it is acceptable to praise God in pray silently. Imagine seeing a scenery (like driving down the road and seeing the most beautiful fall leaves) and thanking God for the wonders of God’s creation.
After awhile it becomes a personal relationship with God and it feels very rewarding.
