i don’t think so….haven’t we survived all these years without one?
Ew, no
Although I use the Mac, I have been waiting for a new version of Minesweep.
There is not much that I really need.
wow. xp is that old? I guess we do.
Good Morning Dan,
Here’s hoping that you have a good day!
of course. how would we live without such fundamental advances in technology? xp is so 90′s. =P
I want one. Who wants to buy it for me?
No, Windows Vista is devoid of truly innovative features. It’s actually based on windows server 2003, cobbled together after longhorn or greenhorn, whatever the kernel they were working on for vista failed.
Vista will nag you more than ever, and it’s biggest feature is obtrusive DRM features! Imagine when you watch a DVD on a monitor manufactured BEFORE 2007 how the quality will be severely downgraded!
Why?
Because Micro$oft can’t think of intelligent ways to roll out non-invasive DRM technology like apple already has, which is why when I design academic computing labs I only work with and spec out Mac and Apple products, clients and servers.
On a brighter note, anyone excited about OS X 10.5 Leopard? I am….
Yeah – we have to keep moving forward!
(actually, I need a new comp to go with that new operating system…)

I don’t think so, no.
I don’t know. I sure won’t be dropping any cash on it any time soon!
My answer is Mac.
I think most of us need a new computer.. screw the new operating system.
I dunno, I’m happy with XP
we need a new os, like we need a new dan posting about who he thinks is sexy. for some odd reason, you always want us to rate men.
you be the judge, all I know is that its pretty much trying to have all the glory of mac os 10. Therefore proving superiority of mac. Michael
I do not.
everyone should get macs
I just need a new computer, which will have a newer OS than what I have now. I’m on ME. Ugh.
We didn’t need the old one
sure, we need to all spend more money updating and upgrading : D
No, but I’m hoping that it’s too powerful for the 5 year old computer still running on Windows ME.
I’m very happy with what I have. But I’m sure that I’ll be needing a new computer soon–within the next year. I’ll let you know if I like it then.
nah, it’s allright.
i don’t want to buy it, i’m working just fine on XP
i can’ even master XP
btw….i couldn’t fish with that guy in the video clip
We need computers to be affordable enuf so you don’t hve to wait 20 years to buy a new one.
I just got a brand new Dell a few months ago, thinking it was the latest and greatest, and lo and behold, it’s now outdated.
I didn’t think so. I am actually quite scared. I hear it’s more like a mac then our previous PC systems… Eh… I don’t think people will like it though, and we’ll go back to the old ways. Or at least, that’s what I’m hoping. I don’t want to have to learn Vista, gah! Why do I have to be a MBE major?!
no!! i haven’t even gotten up to XP yet!!!
haha
If the new OS used less memory and was less invasive and less crash-inducive, it might be worth considering. But I’m sure this’ll be just like the rest and go in the opposite direction. I’ll ride out XP (what came with this computer) until I can’t use current products that I need (which’ll be longer than this computer survives, I’m guessing).
I like my OS like my government: minimal. Just enough to do what it’s there for.
isn’t XP only, like, 5 years old?
no.
If Bill Gates tell us we need it… then i guess we need it. Or we Die!
Everyone knows that each new Windows operating system has even more bugs and security holes than the version prior. Here’s a great operating system–Mac OS X. What? Biased? Me? Nah… On the other hand, I have a whole lot less problems than PC users do.
I only need something basic like Windows 95. All these “improvements,” from what I can see, are largely cosmetic.
I’m pretty content with what I have. XP all the way! It is not that big of a deal it is just what I have. 8)
nooo
Yes, but not Vista. It’s crippled with ridiculous EULA and constrictive DRMs.
We could go for Macs, but they aren’t much better, either; you can do easy stuff, but it’s no power user PC.
No, because then I’d have to take the Computers in Business course again and it sucks if you already know how to use the programs…thats all we need is another version of Windows. But, for the advancement of technology, it would be a good idea.
i dont, just a new computer….
Yeah because I have that kind of money floating around here somewhere. Stupid Microsoft.
I could care less, what ever the boss wants on his computer is what I will work with.
I think it’s funny that Microsoft’s shares went down after the release. Doesn’t bode well for the new OS, does it? Especially when it requires so many equipment upgrades.
Not until all you “gotta have the newest stuff” junkies help Microsoft fix everything that is wrong with it now.
You guys can work out the bugs, I’ll save my money and frustration.
I’m happy with XP.
I just read your post on Bedmites…. and am on my way to the washer and shower. I sincerely thank you for giving me that permanent itchy feel. Really. I don’t think it’s possible to ever feel clean again, now.
It has a lot of Mac-like features… I simply say go with Mac. I switched in April and won’t be looking back.
I thought it sounded neat when I first read about it, but that’s about it. I wouldn’t pay $400 or more for it (which is retail price), and I honestly don’t need it. I guess if some an egocentric business exec obsessed with appearance and always want the “latest” stuff, then this is for you… *sigh*
yes and no. I hate my current computer, but I think that’s a problem with the amount of memory I have. And I have a touch of curiosity about Vista.
Nope.
nah
I would like to get Vista, but only after they’ve worked out the initial kinks. Macs can kiss my ass.
I use Macs for 90% of my computing, so I could care less about Vista.
NO…
i am a poor college kid… and what’s wrong with xp?
i love how my computer randomly has unexplainable problems… it’s an adventure
Not really.
What does a man need save for food, water, and breathable air? Hermits get along just fine. Become a hermit, you Xangaing nut.
¥Not That Dead¥
heck no!
wtf!?!?!?
windows NT was good enough XP is really pushing it already … I’m not getting vista. You can’t make me.
I don’t think “need” has anything to do with it.
However we won’t be getting Vista for at least a year. Let them work the major bugs and kinks out first.
PSA: Hey people, the correct phrase is “I couldn’t care less.” If you say “I could care less” it means you do care, some. “I couldn’t care less” means you care so little that you possibly could not care any less about said topic.
Thank you.
(sorry for the grammar lesson, Dan, I just saw that phrase misused twice in the comments and it bugs me that people are too lazy to say it right)
Nooooo!
Just because Bill Gates says we do?
L,r
Yes, if you have more money than sense.
If Bill Gates tell us we need it… then i guess we need it. Or we Die! Posted 1/30/2007 10:01 AM by Statist_Gentry
i agree lol
Haha I am still using a Windows 2000 platform.
Unix has worked since version 1 waaaaay back in 1969…
If it is an improvemet in the running of the internet I say “lets go for it” if its not all that innovative,I would rather keep windows
Not really. But it looks pretty sweet, aesthetically [sp?] pleasing. And I’m not techno-gal so that’s really all that I’m in it for. It’s pretty sweet….
NO! Especially not Microsoft. MAC is best!
yesssssssssssssssssssssss
I think I could use one. This computer is crap.
For what? We’re gonna have the same ol’ glitches and crap as the XP does!
I don’t think I do.
nope
Whether we do or not, I know I am not in any place to go out and get one.
Uhm, no
im really leaning toward a mac now.
Why do all those Asians look like they are worshiping the vista god?
Operating systems will and should evolve, however, Vista is hardly evolved. Get a Mac. Now Leopard…that is an evolutionary OS.
not from Microsoft thats for sure… Mac on the other hand… =P
my friend got to get windows vista early..i forget how. but it looks really cool, i don`t think we need it, though.
I like Windows well enough I suppose, though what I’ve seen of Macs is promising.
Macs suck. They are slow. The only thing that is good about them is that they have cool designs, but other than that, the system blows.
no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no
Never even heard of it. But I’m sure my next computer will be on Vista… like, in three years.
