  • Who hasn’t? I bet EVERYONE has.

  • Definitely!

  • good lord. when don’t i?

  • many times. mainly because i was bored… i still got good grades

  • Yep!  One day my best friend drove over from the college across the street from my high school and we went ice skating for a few hours!!

  • yep!
and then in college, noone cared if you skipped

  • Umm… Yes, unfortunately…
I still do more than I should, but less than I did…

  • Never, until this year.

    Ah, college.

  • ummmm………………………… yes. many, many, many times.

  • Yes, college is easy for that.

  • I was homeschooled, so no, but I have skipped college classes, of course.

  • Hasn’t everyone?

  • I ALWAYS skipped pep rallies. When everyone else filed into the gym like good little sheep, I took off for home. My mom would call me in sick and let me stay home occasionally as long as I kept my grades up. I always saved those occasions for times I needed an extra day to study for a test or get some homework done. That was all a very long time ago, though.

  • In college and grad school, def yes. Not in high school or grade school.

  • I was homeschooled, so no I never ditched. Now in college I have ditched a couple classes, but only to get time to finish smething for a different class.

  • It is really hard to skip high school from where I am from. It’s such a small town that there really wasnt anything you could do without getting caught by someone’s parent’s friends. I skip college classes though… more than I should, lately!

  • I was only there half of the year my senior year… Luckily I ad more credits then I needed to graduate…

  • I skipped a class in college to attend a drag queen review.  It was worth it.

  • Skipping school was pretty easy when I was in high school. My mom was sick, I wouldn’t go to school and no one ever asked why.

RYC: I’m strictly a Xangan, even gave up myspace. I don’t understand why everyone has 3 or 4 social networking sites. I only did facebook for scrabulous and Tiffany had to really break me down to do it, lol.

  • Yeah, I skipped my Philosophy class yesterday for some reason

  • In high school I had perfect attendance until my Senior year.  I found out that we were exempt from finals the last semester because of when graduation was, so I skipped several times.  My mother would call in “personal days” for me and we’d go shoe shopping or go out for lunch instead.

I skipped whole days of classes in college.  I would e-mail my professors and tell them I “was having a bad day” or I “was sick” and spend the day goofing off.  Big waste of money, but totally worth it.

  • Oh yeah! Senior Year I had study hall right before lunch and a slacker teacher right after. So we would often round up a group of friends and head into town for lunch. It was great!

In college I only missed class once. JUST ONCE! And I did it to go to a basketball game in Findly, Ohio (I was in Big Rapids, MI). I called and told my prof (it was one of the days I had 3 classes with the same prof all day) that I had a migrane. Well on the pep band bus to Ohio, I got very ill and threw up. And threw up and threw up. The next day I was fine and my prof gave me a hug and said “Oh, don’t worry about it. You don’t have to make up the quiz. A lot of girls get migranes before their periods. I’m just glad you are feeling better” And then I felt so guilty, that I was almost glad that I had gotten sick.

  • yep

  • No, I never did. I went to a small school and the news would have reach my parents within minutes. Not a good thing!

In college, I did use all my allowed absences though!

  • No.  It was a small christian school and my mom was a teacher…..

  • Yep.

There was this family down the street from me. The youngest child got suspended for skipping, three times in a 6 wk period.

This kid was in first Grade. I couldnt help but think her parents seriously effed up somewhere along the line with that one.

  • I couldn’t cuz I was in boarding school.. They do roll calls in every classroom.. Nah, it was too hard to being miss especially small class of only maximum of 10 students.. They would set alarm in the whole school if one is missing..

  • BTW I should mention Seinoritis hit my ass HARD. I had a bran-spankin new car, and a bunch of classes that really didnt mean much. I still wonder how I got a B in physics, because I was absent more than 78 times that year lol. Wow high school was fun….

I cant skip in college. I skipped philosophy ONE day last week. ONE. I’m so far behind its not even funny. Damn these symbolic logic classes….

  • not in high school to my recollection…

i missed classes now and then at college tho.

  • Not really…my mom always called, even for lame excuses.

  • Yup!  And I skip work sometimes too

  • i did a couple of times as a senior, but never before that…..i didn’t know what i was missing !!!  LOL

  • I never did until college.

    Then the temptation was too great to resist. ^^;;

  • Me oh my!  That’s like asking me if I breathe!

  • Not an entire day.  Just a few classes here and there.

  • fuck yes, do it once or twice a week

  • I skipped over school once.  That was fun… and dangerous……….. stay off drugs kids.

  • I skipped class a few times in college.  For some reason, homework was more important than sleep, but sleep was more important than class.  Weird, huh?

  • yep.  nearly every friday… but i always made up the work.

  • skipping at the moment.. lol
I only skip when there isn’t anything happening in my courses.. catch up and sleep..

  • I used to skip classes in high school to get high/smoke cigarettes/drink beer/liquor in the baseball dugouts.I skipped school a few times to party, but it wasn’t that often.

  • Who? Me?

Yes I did and I was grounded for 2 weeks . . . for ditching on my birthday!

  • 1 Spanish class 1 time in Junior High.  College, occassionally, but then that is kind of different.

  • No, not even in college.
    .

  • The only times I have ever skipped a class have been the times I was working on the paperwork for dropping the class in question.  I was always interested in learning.

  • I haven’t. I wasn’t allowed to. My mother would beat my ass lol. I never skipped school for senior skip day either.

  • try diching from school where your parents teach

    TT_TT its hell hard

  • All the time. And when I wasn’t truant I was suspended. And I still graduated.

Your tax dollars at work ladies and gentlemen.

  • Not in high school, but I skipped a few classes in college.

  • I have before.

    I wanted to today!
    GEEEZ!
I’m dying to see the RED SOX PARADE!

and I want to see Papelbon do his little dance.
    Tee.
    Heeeeee.

  • mhmm, my om let me cause my project wasnt done on the due date :)

  • *mom let me…  i didnt do it often, so she was gracious and forgiving of my procrastination

  • Somestimes in college, the first go-round – 20 some years ago.  These days in college, they take attendance.  In most of my classes, if you missed 3 or more classes, your semester grade goes down a whole letter.  Best to save those days for real illness and emergencies.

  • Without a doubt. 11th grade was a complete waste on me, ha!

  • surprisingly not yet

  • Oh god yes. I had perfect attendance all through school until my senior year of high school. It was then I realized that I wasn’t getting anything from being there EVERY day. My friends and I used to pretend to call in as each other’s moms to say we’d be absent that day. Gooood times.

Skipping in college doesn’t feel like it really counts. Who doesn’t skip in college? I’m skipping right now.

  • …like this morning?
    haha.
I missed enough days in my senior year of hs for them to technically be required to take my dad to court and put him in jail.
    Thankfully, they didn’t do that.

  • Once in seventh grade, but my school called my daddy and I got in HUGE trouble.  That was the one and only time.

  • I don’t recall ever skipping school in high school.  I may have skipped a college class.  I couldn’t help myself:  I like school and learning and stuff, and was too afraid of getting in trouble or missing somehting important to skip.  Loved the movie “Ferris Bueler’s Day Off” though, and two of my friends took an afternoon off from school like Ferris…… God bless all who read this post, lame though it may be!

  • In elementary and HS … no. In college & uni.. yeah, pretty much every time I didn’t feel like going to class. No permission slip needed, and I was a good student so it didn’t matter.

ryc: Awesome! Let me know what your NaNo name is so I can cheer you on. (Mine’s chanty.)

  • Nope.

Not that I liked school. . .I just. . .wasn’t that kind of person.

I would have been too worried about getting detention, I.S.S. etc

  • Only the classes that don’t matter.
    -David

  • Hahahahaha, I totally skipped my 8 AM Literature class today… BUT! I did go to my History class at 9:40, so I’m not totally bad, haha. I never skipped school in high school though, unless I had an appointment or I was -really- sick. College though…I TRY not to skip class, but I took a personal health day at the beginning of the semester, skipped my Creative Writing class to get a friend’s tattoo checked out in a neighboring town, and then today I just didn’t feel like getting up. So, I try not to do it to often, because I feel bad when i do (I’m just cheating myself, really).

  • oh GOSH yes! My favorite subject in school was Calculus because I ditched it like everyday. Oh well.

  • Yup, in college.

  • If skipping class in college counts, then heck yeah.  Who doesn’t?!

  • In high school, ALOT. I was bored.

  • Yeah, I did yesterday…

  • my junior year I think I was at the beach more than in class, as long as I was still on the honor roll my Mom didn’t care.

  • Ya. And I plan to tomorrow also for Halloween. ^ _ ^

In New York, in my school, we get about a week off in January and June for Tests, so you’d think there’s no need to cut right? Hm…

  • Not ALL of school, but one class.

  • a better question would be “did you ever go to class?”

  • No. Not even a college class. I have only missed class twice in 3 semesters and that was because I was literally too sick to move.  I dunno, I think that if I start skipping I’ll want to do it more and more and then fail D:

  • Never! I’ve never been late to class, and I have never certainly never missed class. Just the thought makes me want to barf.

  • Yep, I started in the first grade.

    Watched a lot of Barney.

I missed 1/3 of the 8th grade and half of my sophomore year.

    Still made the honor roll.

  • Not until I went to college. But I never skipped a whole day of classes, I just skipped one class once in a (rare) while.

  • I wasn’t really able to skip school when I was younger, since I was homeschooled. I’ve skipped a couple college classes, but I really like having good attendence. It shows committment to the education for which you are paying thousands of dollars.

  • yes

  • Yes…i did…heheHave a good day…Dan

  • Beuller?  That should have been my nickname.

  • I skipped this afternoon to go see the Sox parade.

  • since I didn’t have a cell phone in high school (still don’t) I couldn’t call in a pass to leave and I didn’t drive until my senior year. but I skip all the time in college. mostly because the prof. is an idiot, I already know the stuff or to work on a paper. rarely have I skipped because I was tired.

  • Well…yeah.

    <33

  • Never the whole day, sometimes my last class. But I can count the occasions on one hand.

In JHS one winter, my last period teacher *unofficially* told me to go home bc I was the only student in the class that didn’t skip, and he didn’t want to stay in class for one person.

  • In the work world (i.e. Real Life), people get sick days and personal days. Why can’t you have those when you’re a kid? Everyone has skipped, I’m sure of it, because some days you just need to break out of the stress.

  • i am right now. i’ve been sick and was only skipping one class…but i slept in…

  • yep. last thursday keri and i went to starbucks and saw leah there.. during english!!

  • I was homeschooled. =P

My brother is a sneaky little devil. I have conversations in my sleep and my family knows it, so he’ll ask me to take him while I’m sleeping and I’ll come up with some off-the-wall reason why I can’t (which I NEVER remember doing) and he’ll say, “OK!” and play XBox all day.

  • Not really.  I accidentally did it once in H.S.  I just plain forgot about my last class and started walking home.  Then I realized I was the only one walking home.  It was funny.  I freaked out.  I thought I was going to get busted because the cops where close by, but I just went and ate pizza waiting to go home “on time.”

  • Junior and senior years in high school, if I had been having a stressful month or whatever I’d have my mom call me in. And I took a ‘mental health’ day. I only did that like 4 or 5 times in those two years.

At college, sometimes I sleep through classes… and then other times the weather is so shitty that I just don’t want to go outside.

I wanted to ditch my classes today to go to Boston for the parade, but my roomie, who has a car (mine’s at home), had to go to her art class. I guess she has more of a conscience than I do. She didn’t want to go get free tacos either. LAME.

  • Is there anyone on the planet who hasn’t skipped school at one time or another?

  • Actually, no. o_o I’ve threatened to a few times, but I never actually have- too much work to keep up with as it is.

  • In 9th grade i was referred to the S.A.R.B. for truancy.

  • Yes (in college)***

  • ooooof course i have.

  • But wouldnt you know, i graduated with my 9th grad class!

  • I’m wondering who hasn’t.

  • Funny story, but yes.

A friend of mine wrote an essay that was chosen for a scholarship (by the Blue Valley Optimist Club) so he got to go present his paper to the members at 6:30 in the morning in a church basement (middle of nowhere).  He invited me to come because the paper I was actually the subject of the paper.  But I couldn’t drive and  my friend lives a significant distance from me.  So another friend of ours picked me up and we went – complimentary breakfast plus hearing the paper = pretty entertaining.  Not to mention the whole concept of an optimist club that meets in church basements before the sun rises.

Afterwards, my friend and I had plenty of time to get to class. Our writer friend headed off to an FBLA competition.  So we decided we really didn’t want to go to first hour physics.  So we went to Starbucks, relaxed, listened to music, did homework, and had a BLAST!

Best of all we were excused cause nobody knew that we really did have a ton of time.

  • oh my goodness, yes! ha, i’ve gotten in trouble so many times for it.

  • Once… in 4th grade… I took off with a friend of mine and we skipped orchestra and went to the drug store to buy penny candy (shh… yes, I’m really that old!).  My dad just happened to go to that same drug store while we were there.  Literally got caught with my hand in the cookie jar.  I felt so supremely guilty when I saw him walk in, that I figured it would be better if I approached him and apologized before he’d even seen me.  Although I don’t recall any memorable disciplinary measures, I guess I felt guilty enough and he was intimidating enough about it, that it put a kabosh on my ever ditching again.

  • I’d just either pretend to be sick at home, or purposely not wake up early enough. :]
But Mom knew about it, she just got mad occasionally. She always wrote me notes, though, so it was okay.

Except in 8th grade, when I almost had truancy filed on me. :|

  • Yup, I skipped several classes in college just because.

  • Nope!

  • Doesn’t everyone???

  • Well….yeah…..

  • No, I got a perfect attendance award in high school.  I didn’t have time to be sick how can I skip school?

  • Not until college, then I skipped many classes.  Not necessarily the best idea though….

  • Oh yeah. Some classes–or schools, for that matter–just weren’t worth the effort of getting out of bed.

  • No, but funny you should ask since tomorrow is my high school’s senior skip day.

  • I was absent 97 days in 8th grade. When I didn’t choose a high school, child services came and threatened to send me to a group home.

I ended up in Chicago. Didn’t end there, that was how I got kicked out of Catholic high school.

Which was exactly what I wanted. Give a kid what they want. Eventually they will puke from all the candy.

  • i skipped more than i went…

  • it’s a whole lot easier in college

  • aw, that’s so good that people never skipped class.. i try not to but i have skipped more classes than ronold mcdonald. lol

  • i lived near the beach..skipped school all the time just to hit the waves. i worked weekends so something HAD to be sacrificed. ;)

  • nyope. my mom’d kill me if she ever found out.

  • I had 2 8th grade girls in after school detention for 3 weeks because they skipped school. That seemed a little overboard to me!

  • Not without my parents’ permission. My mom is a nurse and my dad was on the school board, so I couldn’t get away with much. Don’t suppose I even considered going somewhere besides school, even when I was driving myself.

  • only in college

  • Yes, and now I regret it terribly

  • hahahahahaha.

in jr high, high schoool, college. more times than i can count.

  • yes ha actually the last time that i skipped i was still on campus me and my ex were in the visitors locker room. dont need to know what we were doing!

  • I skipped the equivalent of a day for every week sophomore year and maintained a C average. Imagine if I showed up to class.

  • only in college, but that’s different

  • Yes, but I maintain that I had good reasons…At least I think that they were good reasons…

  • who hasnt it is kinda a lifestyle you have to do it once to know what you are missing i love knowing the grass really is greener on the other side

  • No….but yet i was always suspect…go figure.

  • I’ve never ditched, but I have faked sick because I really, really didn’t want to go to school that day.

  • I’ve skipped 2 classes in a row but not a whole school day. I have 7 classes by the way

  • ^_^ I’m doing it right now, lol. As a kid, I did it alot. I still got good grades though

  • no my parents are always at home

  • i have never skiped school.

  • Of course. I was getting worse in the third grade of senior high school.

  • Never..not a day in my life..
