Getting an A
My last term of my undergraduate degree, I had to take 4 classes in the summer to get the 12 credits I needed to graduate at the end of the summer.
I was also really close to graduating with honors. I figured that if I got all A’s, I would graduate with honors. I wanted to take one last class with my favorite philosophy teacher. The problem is that I had 3 other classes with him and I received a “B” each time. I knew I would be busy in the summer. But I went ahead and took his class and received a “B.” I missed graduating with honors by .03 and they did not round up.
1. English
2. Math
3. Philosophy
4. Poetry
5. History
6. Foreign language
7. Science
If you had to get an A, what class would you take?
Comments (196)
Philosophy.
For me to get an easy A would be in History, and Poetry, without even trying.
Science and Math, but I bet I would end up with an A- or B+ for Math (that’s my average) and Science I could get an A if it’s bio
French
Math. or English.
History or English.
English.
foreign language…they are usually a joke unless you are trying to take chinese or something ourrageous..
also…an extremely relative question, being that you didn’t clarify what level each class was…
math or english.
English, History, Poetry, and certain sciences, for example, any social science, or biology. Always guaranteed As for me.
Oh sorry to hear about missing out by so little, that’s frustrating! Congratulations on graduating!
Do you plan to go on from undergraduate? Good luck!
As for your questions — I’m a maniac, and would try for A’s in all of the above, even if it didn’t work. But you made the right choice on choosing a professor you liked — classes are not all about the grades.
Any of the above save the math and science courses. ACK!
I would take Poetry. I think it would be a fun course to take.
Math for sure.
Congratulations on your achievements in college!
Poetry. Creative, fun, I mean how can you go wrong?
English or foreign language.
I suck at math.
Philosophy or Spanish (minor and major respectively)
English, Philosophy, or Foreign Language. I’ve received A’s in all those classes before at the college level, therefore I don’t think it would be very difficult to pull a repeat performance.
History or English hands down.
English or Literature…if I’m serious.
English or History.
But most likely English
History or English if I really wanted an A, but for me it was a moot point. I was doing great, with a 4.0. But then, between Calculus III, Infinite Series, and Differential Equations, I got my ass kicked. All it takes is a B or two to knock you back down to Earth.
Meh. I could get an A in any of them, I guess.
English or Poetry would be the most enjoyable.
Philosophy
maaaaaaaan, I would be soooo pissed! I would ask for an appeal. Why didnt you do it THEOLOGIAN? They are such punks.
English
History
Tricky question Dan, I go with history, however if blogging was a subject you would certainly get a A.
Science. I’m actually amazing at almost all science subjects
Foreign Language hands down!!! I love learning new languages!
in the end, grades does not matter. do what you like and what you want…’cuz that matters most! ^.~ but that sucks! you should have talked to him and be like..PLEASE extra credit?? hahahha…or should have worked extra hard…?? oh well…you did the right thing!
Poetry.
Foreign Language is an easy A. Spanish in particular.
English. I got an A in english in a class that had a teacer that who graded hard. I could do history no problem. I could do math and science too but i’d have to try harder.
photography/art…
Anything BUT science.
For me a guaranteed A would come in either English or Math……….~Echo
Poetry, by far. Or English. I’m an English major going for my MFA in Creative Writing with a concentration in poetry anyway… haha!
BTW, the second woman in this picture looks like she wants to punch the photographer in the face.
Either English or Foreign Language.
But I suppose I could pick anything, those are just the classes I like. I got A’s in everything except for math in high school and everything except Theology (so far) in college. lol
At the risk of sounding pretentious, I’m sure I could pull an A in any of them. But I prefer Science and Math classes.
English.
Inglitch.
History
English, Philosophy, Poetry.
Any of them. (I happen to be really good at turning in what the proffessors want, whether I actually understand it or no. Might have trouble with math at my current school, though, since I would be taking calc 2 and the prof for that class is terribly unclear and all the math majors get more confused every time he tries to un-confuse them.
science, history, english, maybe math… really any of them except philosophy or poetry…
and good for you for taking what you wanted. even though that is really dissapointing…
YOU ARE NO LONGER NUMBER 1
LOL YOU ARE SLIPPEN, YOUR ENTRY’S ARE GETTING DUMBER AND DUMBER
Definitely Math. I did manage to graduate with honors at the age of 50
History.
Perhaps math… as long as it wasn’t anything higher than Calc 1… I think I have a D in my college level Calc 2 at the moment…
No matter what the level, English, and American History are guaranteed A’s for me.
theology/skripture AAA+
no bragging just faktz hahahahahahahahahaha
history
Math or Science. In those, there is only right and wrong, not opinion
English.
Science or English
Foreign languages or science, definitely. my favorite classes of all time. =)
i got mostly A’s in undergrad and grad, but then i almost failed out of high school…so it just goes to show that anything is possible w/ God’s help and a ton of persistence. hahaha. my worst class ever was a statistics class…ugh.
english [especially if there would be lots of writing involved]
sciences
foreign languages
Definitely science
I would be hurt
since im such a perfectionist
but maybe english
I’d rather take the philosophy class, but the history would probably be a better bet at an A for me.
i’m a math and science fiend but it’s MUCH easier to get an A in a humanties class…I’d go for poetry, history, English, or philosophy.
@hickman_22 - hey me too
plus biochem :]
I do have my Honors in Philosophy. Yet I really would like to take English.
That photo is strange, apparently white people don’t graduate from college. ~_~
foreign language or hx
Depending on which science we’re talking about, I’d take that. Or English.
PHilosophy or History.
Poetry would be my favorite class, followed by English, but I’d probably get the A (or at least CLOSE to an A) in math. I don’t like it, but I’m pretty good at it (with the exception of pre-calc.)
Actually, now that I re-read your list…I’d totally get an A in Spanish. And the highest grade in the class (cuz I did in 3 out of 4 semesters.)
English or poetry.
English fo sho!
math or science.
poetry
foreign language
English, for sure.
Philosophy.
I got A’s in all of these, except for philosophy and history. I’d probably take a foreign language for a guaranteed A, though.
English.
God I suck at math.
Math. It is the only class on your list that doesn’t depend on the instructors opinion in any way.
Anything but math and poetry.
I would take history or poetry.
English
poetry
English. Instant GPA boost.
@lesslikemath - haha yes! I thought that I was the only one! Hurray for majors and minors that are painfully unrelated.
History or an intro to a foreign language.
Science.
Foreign language. Easy peezy A for me =D
not science.
Philosophy or Math. If I’m passionate about something, I’m able to get an A…. which explains my C-’s and D’s in science. hah
Philosophy or English (almost majored, then almost minored in philosophy). I’ve been an English geek my whole life.
Well, my major is English. So I’m going with English.
To get a guaranteed A, in high school, I’d take Foreign Language if it was Spanish, or Poetry, or English. After that I never had any class that was a guaranteed A, esp not anything no that list. I tended to get A’s in labs or in fieldwork, independent study, or practical courses.
That really depends on the professor. Oddly I got most As in math, although I’m quite clueless there. But I’d probably take German or English.
What about an anthropology class? That’s my major…I could get an A in one of those classes.
Poetry, because there’s really no right or wrong…
if I had to get an A I’d killl myself.
the course I’d enjoy the most would be philosophy or english
English. I’ve never not received an A in an English course.
history
Math was my best subject.
Foreign language. Spanish is my strongest subject.
Philosophy (Though any computer programing class would also do.)
Poetry
Poetry. I love it.
math,english and history.
these are my best subjects.i always get As in them
Timestamping gets fucking annoying.
I didn’t see gym on there…..
History or Foreign Language.
Science.
Math, science, or a foreign language.
Where’s psychology? I get A++++’s in that.
Science- though it would depend on what kind of science. If it had anything to do with Geology I’d be there. I’m so incredibly amazed by everything I learn in that subject that it just sticks in my head for the most part. I get A’s quite frequently in my Geo classes.
However, if it were physics or chemistry… forget it… give me an english class plz.
history or poetry
English, Philosophy, or Foreign Language
english or foreign language are easy for me.
English. It wouldn’t be fair how much I would DOMINATE THAT CLASS.
Philosophy. I learned A LOT from that class. It was funny because we were fucking w/ each other’s heads hahaha.
english or poetry.
English or foreign language
Philosophy or History.
English or Foreign Lanuage.
Foreign language for sure.
English.
Lol, and I did the same thing you did… mine worked out a little better though.
Either foreign language or science, maybe the math. Those are my strong points, especially since I’m a triple major in Ecology/Japanese/Chinese.
Haha. English or a foreign language, probably. They’re my best chances. *cringes* Totally not guaranteed, though.
I want to have sex with the second graduate from the left.
@x_Butterflies_and_Hurricanes_x - Your profile picture arouses me for some reason.
@TheBenjitect - *sigh* it’s you again isn’t it.
History if it was U.S. History. Otherwise English. I got A’s in both classes throughout college.
poetry
ENGLISH for sure! I’ve never received anything less than an A+ in that class.
Math & Philosophy
History.
Hmmm, I’d probably take some really basic psychology class.
I would get an A in foreign language (French).
Math or a foreign language.
If i needed an A, Foreign Language or Poetry.
i’ve been pretty successful with foreign languages, so I’d take that to get the A
Hey : )
English <3
Have a great day!
xxx
English. Unfortunately I am the best in the area of study I dislike the most.
0.03 is so close I would be very annoyed!
History or English. I’d probably take history since English is a bullshit annoying class.
English!
english
foreign language
Poetry.
History.
i LOVE it.
Philosophy.
English is an easy A,
but I’d try philosophy just for fun.
math or history.
math cause I”m good at it
history cause it’s generally easy.
Philosophy is an easy A
-adieu, stace
math
History or Philosophy. Although the ones i’m getting A’s in now are ministry practicum classes.
I vote Science.
1,
…I aced English my whole way through school.
@playdoughKID - Go me.
English or History.
my sympathies
i’d take english
Aw, crap. My first option would’ve been a social sciences class, but that wasn’t an option. So I’ll have to take English.
history
Math !
History most definitely. I’m surprised at how many people said that they would take istory as their easy “A” class.
Foreign language, since it’s easy with French.
history has always been my forte. i would major in it if i had the time and money to do so.
History or Foreign language
foreign languages would be a breeze, but I have a passion for history so that would probably be easy too : P
History, I’m practically a walking history textbook, and I only read history stuff in my spare time.
Why, for some reason, did I think you studied theology?
I always got an A in History since I was an English major, and for some reason most History majors didn’t know how to write a decent paper.
Foreign language…. I’m now a Spanish teacher!!
I graduated with top honors. In fact, my GPA would have been practically perfect if it hadn’t been stuck in some stupid philosophy class. There is nothing worse than a professor wanting you to take something seriously when you can barely stop from laughing!
I dunnos.
English, as long as it was grammar or writing and NOT LITERATURE!!!
Philosophy.
when you’re an engineering student you pretty much give up on getting an A
8. Arts, no?
Foreign language. Spanish ftw.
english or math
English
math or history
english, without a doubt.
then foreign languages and sciences.
foreign language probably
History
foreign language
All of them. I won’t settle for less.
Foreign language, probably.
science… i like it better than the other choices that were given
I would without a doubt take psychology or sociology
either science or foreign language… :]
English or History.
Probably English or Poetry
French.
english or history (but really it depends on what your strengths are)
Either a History course (but a narrow one, like the history of a war or something) or an english course. I’m taking English: Writers and the Blues. All we do is talk, read poetry that sounds like blus music, and occasionally write a few in-class paragraphs. I love it
. Sometimes college is a joke.
No choices related to law, current events, or government? Hmmph, well in that case I guess English because I know it pretty well. Maybe philosophy though because it’s interesting.
I would take all except English and Poetry.
The easiest way to get an A for me: Math. Definitely
Foreign language. They’re less strict compared to the other subject in my school especially, science and math. As long as I worked hard in class and be very interactive in group work I’ll be fine.
Science!
Well, you can’t really be wrong in philosophy I don’t think, but I’m going to say english.
