I’ll only update the timestamp if edit something. If someone were to timestamp over and over within the day, yes, it would annoy me. But, not if it’s done within reason.
Not really.
YES..it seems to be getting more and more prevalent, too! It’s especially bad if they do it multiple times on the same post over a period of days. Do you really need to up your numbers/comments THAT much? THAT desperate?? Really.
nope. and thanks for reminding me to update the timestamp on my latest
if it’s more than twice, yeah.
Ha! Great time-stamping! You are on top!!!
Only if they timestamp posts from months ago
You asked this awhile back…
And yes, but the people who timestamped a lot, I unsubscribed, haha.
Nope. I’d be a hypocrite if I got annoyed. :]
Cool seems everyone is happy with my 2 time stamp limit.
Does not bother me at all unless they go insane with it
Not me. It takes more than a simple thing like that to bother me. Plus, I may miss it if they don’t. I noticed you do a lot, and I am glad. Otherwise, I would miss something!
only if they timestamp more than twice and on EVERY SINGLE post they write.
Always.
It’s cheating.
yeah, when they timestamp it multiple times a day or so, without having updated anything in their posts…
Sometimes, there isn’t necessarily even a regular reason behind it either.
Y-E-S!!! And it’s no wonder some of the people are featured… they wrote the post a week ago and kept timestamping every day. Not really much skill in that :
i don’t mind, as long as the post isn’t stupid. i’ve only done it once, to my knowledge. but then again i often have my head up my ass. i may have done it twice. can’t be sure.
nope why ?
It’s ok most of the time. Sometimes I do it if I posted something late at night and folks that come by often might not see it. I have seen many posts I missed the first time that I wouldn’t have seen if it hadn’t been timestamped. I usually look at the first few pages on my private page when I get on Xanga. I never check my sub email so I miss lots of folks I’d like to keep up with. It doesn’t bother me at all if someone timestamps. It just may mean it’s something important to them just like something may be important to you that you want people to know. So just show a little respect when someone timestamps, who knows, it may be something you need to read.
i hate it! especially when you’re first logging in to read your subscriptions, you see it and think, “oh i read that already…guess nothing new has happened!” and then you end up missing stuff.
Yes. yes, it does.
nope
if its way overdone, it bothers me. if its like, a well written blog that is meant to make a statement, or something…. i think that’s ok. some people never seem to leave the top of my inbox, with some LAME entries…. THAT annoys the shit out of me
Not really.
don’t mind timestamping much. unless done too many times per day every day.
I just wonder why people bother.
Not really. There are far more important things to get annoyed at than such an insignificance.
It’s annoying sometimes. If it’s repeated more than a few times. Most of the time I don’t care, but sometimes people do it a little too much.
YES!!!!!!!!
please stop doing it
I know lately I’ve been doing it like crazy, but normally I dont
hmmmm not really
i am ignorant. what is timestamping??
YES
It seems like my subs all timestamp at the same time so every time I log on to Xanga, the only thing I see are the same posts over and over and over. And over.
I realize you guys want to drive traffic to your site, but man, it’s annoying.
I used to not accept friend requests because I didn’t want the notifications that the people I sub to to get lost in my homepage. But then someone brought it to my attention that he had friend requested me and I had not accepted and that had hurt his feelings. So I immediately did a mass “accept” and in one day accepted 150 or so friend requests and have accepted all requests since then. Now I like it when my subs timestamp. It gives me several opps to see that they have posted.
Only if it’s done repeatedly for the same post.
Sometimes. But I do it too now
i future post a lot, lol. it doesn’t annoy me when because when i update my post, i fix the time stamp to be the time i updated.
Yet another brilliant post. Have you considered doing blogging for a living? With such skills you could be rich!!
In the words of my math teacher: “Timestamping is a doozy.”
Usually not. If it gets timestamped every single hour, then that’s annoying, or if it’s been in my inbox for a week. I timestamp all of my posts and I don’t see anything wrong with timestamping in general, but it is irritating if you’re a whore about it.
I’m not sure I am able to tell if a post was time-stamped or not.
I am not a huge fan of it. It screws up my subs list when I have to search through a dozen posts I have already read in order to get to the ones that are actually new posts. I can see the need for it if the post has been updated or changed in some way otherwise it just seems a bit annoying and pointless.
@florida2008 - If the same post is at the top of your subs list all day long they are timestamping it.
yes, especially when they take up all of the news feed, or whatever it’s called.
There are reasons for doing so, I don’t mind other people doing it for the same reasons I do it. Stamping gets messages across sometimes that you normally overlook.
Not if they only do it once or twice, or when they add new information. Constantly timestamping the same post for days on end is tiresome and if it becomes a habit, I unsub.
Not really. I’m timestamping my current one at 2pm every day til Friday, because it’s a daily progress update on the Pumpkin House in Kenova, WV. Over 3000 carved and lighted pumpkin wil be on display on Halloween.
People are still getting upset over this? It doesn’t bother me anymore.
what is it?
I understand if there’s an ACTUAL change in the post that they want people to note, so they update the time stamp, but most just do it to keep number one in a feedbox, which is annnoooyyying!!! I hate it. So I have purposely unsubscribed, and just keep them under friends so I can still keep up with their posts.
it was terrible because then i was missing what other people were posting, and not time stamping.
Nope. If I’ve read it already I just scan the entry below or above it to see if I’ve read that one. It isn’t that big of a deal. ♥
Only if they keep doing it every couple hours and for a few days.
not anymore than any other attempt to draw attention does … = ]
(only been on xanga for a couple of days … hope by “time stamping” you mean changing the time a certain post was created to a more recent time … that’s what i’ve gathered it means from a majority of the responses on here)
Not really.
Timestamping the same post every three hours for two-three days straight becomes tiresome.
So does timestamping the same post periodically for two-three months. I unsubbed somebody for that. I was thinking, dude, write another post would you.
Yes….but you already know that. I guess it’s okay if it happens once, but some people do it multiple times for the same post….annoying!
Yes! so much!
Timestamping is my biggest pet peeve on Xanga…
I suppose if they have a good reason to do it they should. It doesn’t really bother me much yet. I could see how it could be annoying if I had more subs though.
No, it doesn’t bother me.
If it’s done a lot, or for a few days then that’s bad. Give it up jerks.
Only to a degree.
not really
yes, especially if the post isn’t that interesting in the first place to me.
Not really. If I have read it already I disregard, but if I haven’t seen it then I actually appreciate it.
only after the second time.
YES! iF I DIDN’T READ IT THE FIRST TIME I’M NOT READING IT THE NEXT 15 TIMESTAMPS!
heh
HATE
Yes lol.
It’s not so bad if it’s done once or twice, but after three-five times, I’m like, OKAY YOU CAN STOP NOW.
Nope. I have people that read/check their Xanga at all different hours of the day, so there’s no guarantee that it’s not going to be lost, and I’ve gotten much more “I like this post” than “OMG STOP TIMESTAMPING THIS” from others
Yes, it really does. It doesn’t make me angry…but it’s like an irksome fly who won’t leave you alone. Fucker.
timestamp? D:
No, not really. It does get old when done frequently.
I never even notice.
Only if they do it excessively. I’ve only time stamped a couple times ever.
Usually it takes awhile for it to get seriously annoying, but after 2-3 times, it just ticks me off.
no.
So what? Why do you care? You don’t even bother to read our timestamped blogs anyway.
only if its dan… or paul… or riis… or the big show… or anyone other than maniacsicko….
honestly, yes.
I don’t really have a problem with it. Most people don’t do it excessively. I think at this point, it has become a regular thing for most of the Xanga community.
Should it?
no.
Nope.
Yes. Unless what they wrote is very important.
the people i subscribe to don’t do it at all. too much effort i guess :]
Their blog, their territory!
Time stamps only annoy me in instant messengers, so I disable them. :p Anywhere else, I probably don’t even notice. Like on blog posts, I never notice the dates. Unless I intentionally look for the date. :p
i couldn’t care less.
no.
Nope, not at all. I don’t get all worked up over an extra space in my universal inbox. People who moan about it annoy me, not people who do it, haha.
I don’t even know what that means.
Yes. I actually just wrote a pulse complaining about this.
Comments (123)
Not really. haha.
Something tells me you’re going to timestamp the shit out of this post.
i hate it when people timestamp other people’s posts. motherfuckers
if it’s done over several days, YES.
don’t you do it alot?
Um, no it doesn’t, well not really. Timestamping serves it’s purpose.
Only if it’s more than twice. After that, I’m like, alright, knock it off.
YES
I can find other things that annoy me more.
Nah. Gives me the chance to see things I might otherwise miss in the noise.
Only when someone has a habit of doing it.
I will if I write an important post and I want to attract as much attention to it as possible.
But no, it doesn’t bother me.
Nope people do what they please. It isn’t the biggest deal. You can easily ignore it if you have already read/commented/whatever.
Didn’t you already ask this before?
I love how you post this 10 minutes after I timestamped one of my own. XD
I don’t take xanga serious enough to be bothered by something like that
@SecretNeverTold - same here.
@weakerlink - like your response!
Depends on it’s frequency (reposts / 24 hours).
I’ll only update the timestamp if edit something. If someone were to timestamp over and over within the day, yes, it would annoy me. But, not if it’s done within reason.
