  • Deleting Comments and Racism

I was just reading an article about how some major websites are struggling on what to do with their comment sections.

Online news organizations like to open up comments under their stories so people can discuss the news.  But some people are making racist comments.  So the website owners are forced to delete comments, disable comments or just let the racism go.  Here is the link:  Link

If someone made a racist comment on your site, would you delete their comment?

  • My Gift To The Xanga Community

A few years ago I wrote about how a person could grow their xanga site by friend requesting other people.

There is now a faster way to do the friend request.  Just go to this link:  Link

You can send out friend request by the hundreds.  Just go to the most popular ish site entries and copy and paste the eprops on the right of the post in the comment section.  Xanga built in a feature that made it difficult for users to send out massive friend request.

But they left open a back door so the ish sites could still send out friend request.  If you go to the ish sites, you will notice the people who leave comments have a “@xanga” ending.  Just use the find and replace key to replace those endings with “@xanga,” and then copy and paste the list into this link:  Link

You can literally send out hundreds of friend request in minutes.

It does not violate any of xanga’s terms of use and you will only be doing manually what the ish sites do with a bot.  This is why you have been getting friend request from people without them visiting your site.  I have been teaching it to a few people.

But here is the gift part.  I showed DearRicky how to do it and that is why hundreds to thousands of you are getting friend request from him today.

You can thank me in the comment section of this post.

  • Internet Addiction

Many of you have probably already read about the college that banned social networks for a week.

They wanted to test how people responded to withdrawal from the social network sites.  They indicated that some struggled with being kept off.

Some students reported more face to face contact as a result of the ban.  But some students just used their phones to get around the ban.  Here is the link:  Link

If your college banned social networks for a week, would you just use your phone instead?

  • Secrets To Gaining Xanga Readers

I received the following message from someone on xanga:

“I am simply messaging to ask you for some advice. You have a large amount of subscribers. I don’t think I would ever like having such a big level of popularity. I don’t think I could handle it. However, even if someone is only expecting to have a small handful of readers, how do you go about gaining readers. Do you have any advice or suggestions?”

A segment featuring Katy Perry was pulled from Sesame Street because parents complained about her outfit.  Here is the link:  Link

  • Is Rape Pornographic?

I was reading Kestrylshade’s wordpress blog about a professor that wants a high school to ban a book.

The professor describes the book as “soft pornography.”

He mentions a dysfunctional family that is described in the book.  He mentions that the schoolteachers are seen as losers and that the “cheerleading squad score more than the football team.”  But he also mentions that there are two rape scenes in the book.

  • Should Parents Kiss Their Kids on the Lips?

I was just reading an article about a woman who was writing about whether it was appropriate for parents to kiss their child on the lips.

According to the article, a woman was upset that her husband was kissing their 5-year-old daughter on the lips.

A woman said, “I even explained that you do not kiss on the lips unless you are married.  I have mentioned that I’m totally against the gesture; he said he will do so until the day he dies.

According to the mother, it’s “a sexual gesture and very inappropriate.”  Here is the link:  Link

  • Unsubscribing

I read posts by other people mentioning how they unsubscribe to other people because they get upset with them.

It is funny because I have been on xanga for over 5 and a half years and I have only unsubscribed to a person that annoyed me about 3 times.

I have gone through my list of people I am subscribed to two times and unsubscribed to people I was not interested in anymore.

But I do not tend to unsubscribe to people just because they annoy me.

Do you make it a habit to unsubscribe to people?

  • Who is Hottest?

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is in a little trouble for describing Sen Kirsten Gillibrand as “the hottest member” of Congress.  Here is the link:  Link
