  • Would Jesus Want Gays in the Swimming Pool?

Two men were kicked out of a public swimming pool because they were gay.

The person who kicked them out mentioned the Bible when telling them they could not swim at “The Pavilion.”  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think Jesus would want gays kicked out of the swimming pool?

  • No. I don’t think so.

  • As far as I know, Jesus never mentioned swimming pools.

  • Of course, because Jesus knows that the virus that causes homosexuality can be spread through water.

  • how did they know they were gay?

  • Jesus would kick all the sinners out of the pool so he could have it for himself.

  • People’s ignorance scares me

  • Jesus hung out with the people whom others rejected, so, no, I don’t think he would want gay people to be kicked out of the swimming pool.

  • If we can’t pee in the pool, why should we allow gays?

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - Yeah, that’s what I wondered.

  • It strikes me as odd that neither your post nor the original mentions how anyone on the staff knew that the guys were gay. They were just swimming, right? Do they have tattoos that say GAY? Maybe rainbow swim trunks? I get the feeling that we’re not getting the whole story here. They must have been making out in the pool or something, and I can understand the staff  considering that inappropriate behavior (regardless of the genders involved). It seems to me that the writer of the piece is selective about the included information in order to stir up trouble. The journalist’s ethics are suspect.

  • … those people would’ve been sued or fired if that shit was pulled in California.

  • NO PROBLEMS WITH JESUS AND GAYS IN THE POOL.  Besides I hear they bring excitement to the showers after swimming.

  • Dumb shits. Christianity gets more and more appealing every day… /sarcasm.

  • I see Jesus as an all embracing person so he would have wanted the entire humanity to bathe with him.

  • This smells.  Yet another gay inspired guilt trip whose purpose is to defile Christianity.

How does anyone know anyone is gay? Were the two men kissing each other or groping each other or otherwise being gross with their sexuality?

  • it’s my understanding that JESUS doesn’t discriminate.  so why many of his followers do?

  • @grammarboy - Yes, they MUST have been making out or something. There’s no other possible explanation.

  • they were probably jealous, because gay men often times have super toned hard bodies

you deleted the previous diva post

  • No. Christ would be like, “Oh, you’re gay? That’s cool. Enjoy the pool.”

  • @six6vi - Not all of us are retarded! Honest. Just…way too many of us. -sigh-

  • Would Jupiter want gays in the swimming pool?

  • I like that the fundies immediately assume the boys were doing something ‘wrong’ in order to get kicked out.  That makes me smile.  You know, because if I see one of them walking down the street and decide to punch them, they will assume they must have done something wrong and not that I was just being a dick.

  • “The trouble with quotes from the Bible is that you can never tell if they are genuine.” – Abraham Lincoln. 6’4. Facing right after lunch.

  • @grammarboy - good point! I also feel like there’s not enough information here, or something was conveniently left out… I can’t see how they can be kicked out for JUST being gay… if so that’s sad.

  • I don’t think he would. I think he would embrace them as friends, Jesus accepted the “rejects” and outcasts.

  • And then at long last I stopped following Theologians Cafe.

  • @DJ_GiNSU - I was the first one to say anything of the sort, so I assume that you’re referring to me, among others. I’m not familiar with the term “fundies”, but I assume that it’s short for fundamentalists, which I suppose would be a fair assessment, but it’s too broad to mean much, and I don’t like the negative connotations. That’s beside the point, though. Anyway, as far as we know, the guys weren’t running around yelling, “I’m so gay! I really love cock!” Homosexuality isn’t a physical trait. It’s not like a skin disease or something. You can’t just walk up to someone and know, “AHA, A GAY!” This suggests that there was something else going on that the article fails to mention, and the most logical conclusion is that it has something to do with their behavior. If your behavior lets everyone around you know about your sexuality, you’re not behaving appropriately for a public place with kids, regardless of orientation. Clearly, the staff did make their homosexuality at least a part of the issue, and that was stupid, but I have my doubts that it’s as simple as it looks on the surface.

  • @LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - Yeah, that was my reaction.

  • Also, I’m just throwing this out there, but Jesus could totally walk on that pool.

  • @grammarboy - What with the pro-gay, anti-Christian post over on Revelife, I think we are in for another gay assault on human rights and wholesome living.

  • @grammarboy - I think Jesus referred to them instead as Walking Pools.

  • If you are young and dynamic you might want to buy this Porsche Design – SKU1447 replica watches with a red colored dial, black bezel, and black strap. The sub dials at the 6 o’clock, 9 o’clock, and 12 o’clock positions on the dial are for the hour, minute, and second registers and with flyback hand.

  • Like various others who’ve already commented, I’m thinking we’re not getting the whole story. They can’t possibly have known they were men were gay unless they were displaying it, which suggests they may have been making out / groping. That’s a good enough excuse to kick out anyone, regardless of sexuality, as far as I’m concerned. No one wants to watch anyone play tonsil tennis.

Having said that, if they were discriminated against, ie straight couples weren’t getting kicked out for such behaviour, then I do think that’s unacceptable.

  • @grammarboy - Yeah, I’m wondering that too.

    OP:

There must be something other to this story. Feels like it is missing a few pieces here and there.

  • What @grammarboy - said. There is not enough information in this article to make a an honest opinion.

  • @grammarboy - Some gay guys do indeed have a “gay voice”.  It’s not rude, it’s just the truth.  I haven’t heard a straight guy with a “gay voice” before.  (I love my gay friends, so I ain’t being rude, but it is what it is.)

  • Oh, I just figured Jesus was okay with the whole gay thing, I mean 12 disciplines, at least one or two were gay.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - That’s my question too, Did they walk in and loudly announce “We’re here and we’re gay!”? Did they participate in some kind of PDA that was so obvious that no one could possibly doubt their sexual orientations? Was it written on their speedos? If it’s PDA that caused everyone to know they’re gay then that may be part of the reason why they got kicked out. When couples at our pool become all touchy feely we ask them to stop it or leave. They usually opt to leave because people who are willing to have sex/make out in front of a bunch of little kids and complete strangers are usually the same kind of people who hate to be told what to do.

  • That swimming pool looks nice

  • This person is making a bad name for Christianity.

  • Um, there are all sorts of ways that I can tell someone is gay without them groping somebody else or outright saying it. Vocals and body language are usually very different from heterosexual men.

  • I’m a chess player = not gay enough to want it up the ass, not man enough to go to a club, grab a girl, put on a condom, and make her say “oh jesus, oh fucking jesus you hit the spot.”

  • Jesus made a point of being with all types of people, so I think he
would have invited them to swim with him.

I have to wonder if they were kicked out simply because they were gay, or if it was because they were gay AND had developmental AND intellectual disabilities. This implies to me that their behavior (gay or not) probably strayed from the norm and made people uncomfortable, which is truly a shame.

  • Sounds like something was left out. If they were kicked out for doing something sexual, then they ought to have been kicked out (as should anyone else doing sexy things in a public swimming pool.) But if they were just kicked out because of they gay-ness, then yeah, its bad.

The ad to the left says, “COME SWIM WITH US.”
    Brilliant! :P

  • I think there is more to this story… calling the gayaphobe is getting as bad as people calling people racist. Just to make drama.

  • *chuckle*   Unless they’re swimming in a church sanctioned, holy water pool, these people should learn to shut the fuck up.

  • No way, ya know how many other people would turn gay after being in that same pool!?

Or, was it an issue of the locker room, not the pool itself

  • That person should be kicked out of the swimming pool for homophobia if you ask me.

  • Well, it wasn’t Jesus doing the kicking out was it? And no, Jesus was not a rude bastard.

  • Jesus never told people to not let people do things. Wether they agreed with them or not, they don’t have that right. just saying.

  • I guess that depends if they were making out …. or worse.

  • @P0RCELA1N_D0LL - I’ve actually only meant 1 gay person that wasn’t on the portly side and he wasn’t exactly in shape. Where do you find your gays at?

  • Can you even do that? Is that legal? No comprende.

  • Jesus wouldn’t care. And i could give a fudge less either.

  • Unless they were being graphic about their sexuality (i.e. making out, groping, etc) I cannot imagine why anyone would throw homosexuals out of a pool simply on the premise of their being gay.  If they were making out in the pool, that is enough to warrant being kicked out – but not because of their sexuality.

Would Jesus kick them out of the pool?  Nope!  He embraced the homosexuals the same way he embraced the prostitutes, lepers and everyone else that society ostracized based on “normality.”

@faerieshadow - Amen, sister!  Very well put.  :)

  • This is a silly. Jesus would DEFINATELY not have a problem with gays in the swimming pool.

His only requirement is that they stay or (are held under) at the bottom of the pool for over 10 mins.

    Leviticus 20:13

  • If you follow the link to the Kentucky Equality Federation, they state that there was no inappropriate behavior between the two men. The men came to the pool with staff members of Mending Hearts, an organization that provides assistance to folks with developmental disabilities.According to one source online (The Auburn News), the two men were sitting beside the pool when one sat on the others lap and his friend put his arm around him. Is this inappropriate behavior? Probably not if you are straight – but if you are gay?  Jesus seems to have had very close, loving relationships with his disciples. I would be very surprised if He would have found this behavior inappropriate.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - @grammarboy - @LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - @chaospet - I wondered that too, so I did some checking of other articles about this event:

“The federation said in a news release the men were sitting together
beside the pool when one of them apparently sat on the other’s knee and
put his arm around him. Mending Hearts Executive Director Shirlyn
Perkins said in its complaint that “the Pavilion staff immediately
entered the pool area and asked my clients and their staff to leave the
Pavilion. My staff asked The Pavilion (sic) staff why … and they were
informed that ‘gay people’ weren’t allowed to swim there.”"

All these articles are rather sparse on info.

  • I’m pretty sure the bible says you should love other people… not hate them. I’m pretty sure Jesus would, you know…be LOVING, instead of a douche bag. So….I really don’t think he’d hate someone. And I don’t think he’d be a freaking homophobic pool nazi.

  • @OutOfTheAshes - I read the news. at  the link. And the liberal, pro gay, pro Democrat Party press is notorious for making up the news.

Any journalist worth her salt understands that WHY is one of the question that needs to be answered in any news report.

Here we are just expected to accept Christian bigotry as the WHY because to gay advocates and liberals Christian bigotry is only natural, right?

  • Well clearly they were making out or something. Because you know, public displays of affection for gay people should be illegal and cause for kicking them out of a pool.

  • @bloggicus_maximus - Yeah about 99% so I’m going to round. ;x

  • @six6vi - That hurts me. D:

    (Just kidding. Completely understand! ^_^)

  • the bible also said a lot of stuffs that are considered criminal today, let’s start with those.

if jesus is alive today, he would be condemned harshly by those who “believed” him.

  • @Nicks_Notebook - california where do you find them at?

  • I think Jesus would kick the people out of the pool who kicked the two gay men out.  If they were having sex or messing with kids they should have been kicked out but straight people do that too so if they were just kicked out for being gay that is wrong.  I agree with what others are saying about there not being enough information on the whole thing.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - I am wondering the same thing.

  • @grammarboy - i was going to say the same thing.

  • @eegg666 - Hey cool you want to give Dan a car free.

  • @Tymedancer_is_Grannyinboxers - From now on godfatherofgreenbay is peter griffin, and your xanga user name should have been ata_grandma.

  • @P0RCELA1N_D0LL - East Tennessee….okay, I get your point. Haha.

  • @Nicks_Notebook - lol where is that anyway, oooh, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, soooo….found it thanks to yahoo maps

  • I too feel like they left out part of the story!!

  • ahh yes, since Jesus doesnt want you to be entertained by gays. It was probably for the best.

  • I think it depends on what they were doing in there >_>

  • actually there is a passage in the bible which explicitly states that Jesus doesn’t care if you’re gay or straight. So I’m pretty positive that Jesus is about love and not hating or excluding.

  • i hate overly religous people who push their beliefs on to others.

hey buttholes, STFU and go shove your head back under your ass.

i wish people like that man who kicked them out gets out of the pool because he was christian

  • Whenever anyone quotes the Bibles about gays, they never quote Jesus.  Although he lived right after the Greek Empire, so male coupling was frequent, he never said anything about it.  People only mentione some obscure passage in the Bible (with the same obsurity as stoning disobediant children) or Paul who was obviously sexually an invalid.  These people never mention their feelings in the same breath as love.  They are incapable of loving and living by Christ’s commandment to love.  They would rather be judgmental than love.

  • @LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - <–Crutis Bell, Xanga’s resident gay-hating web-transsexual.

  • …as much as Jesus would want drunks or liars or cheaters or stealers or adulterers kicked out.  No more, no less.
