  • Tanning

I was reading somewhere recently and it said that people were more attracted to people with tans.  This was the case even if the people were darker complected.

Do you think a person looks more attractive with a tan?

  • A light tan is nice, but none of that orange spray on shit.

  • No I like pale people.  The whiter the better.

  • I have no opinion whatsoever on tanning as it relates to attractiveness. “Meh,” is my response.

  • Chinese culture values paleness of skin. To highlight her unattractiveness, the Chinese Ugly Betty was given a tan.

  • there is such thing as too tan. i feel like the girl in that pic is too tan. ick. like @fLiPgUy31O said…a light tan is nice.

  • Depends. Some people just can’t rock a tan.

  • I prefer myself tanned.

  • I don’t really care either way. Although some like to tan waaaay too much.

  • Tan is nice, but Snooki-tan is….well…not so much. Oh and I have to quote Ross from Friends. ‘I’m an 8!!!!”

  • I think you like pictures of half naked ladies and making posts about them. Not that I blame you, of course

  • No. And people who wear their pants lower than their underwear are even less attractive.

  • With a healthy glow, yes. And a natural tan, sure. But the fake tans? or a tan that is obviously too dark for a skin tone or person? Hell no.

  • Some people go tanning because they want to look more “exotic”…..”real exotic” people live in places where they get more sun. The islands, Middle east, etc. So….I guess people want to look “different” or a little “mixed” racially. At least, that’s why so many girls in my town did it, lol. “omg, are you Latino?” so offensive, but it happens.

  • with a real tan, perhaps… but not the fake and bake crap. i don’t understand why society things tanner is more beautiful?! i tan way too easily and would like to be the shade of fried chicken in the summer

  • No.  And I think tan lines are disgusting.

  • So much for lent? Yea tan is always better. dunno if Ty corbin would look better with a tan but most people do.

  • I like pale better, or whatever other natural skin color.
Tans are just kind of icky.

  • It might be my German and Irish side… but I am not a fan of the tan.

  • I am impartial, but the topic reminded me of something Olivia Wilde tweeted-“In a thousand years archeologists will dig up tanning beds and think we fried people as punishment”.

  • no, tanning is unhealthy and i therefore view it as disgusting.

  • @FuhkAwf - I prefer you naked. BTW where is the sex tape I was promised?

  • Some people do it for acne problems, hey it’s their life let’em live it

  • I enjoy a nice, healthy tan.  I’m not into really dark/orange tanning. I like “i’ve been active outside” tan.

I dunno why people are so negative about it, people do spend time outside ya know.

  • I’m pale and proud. Plus, I’ll live longer. #winning

  • it all depends on whether it’s natural.  i’m very pale, but my hair and eyes are dark.  so when i do get a tan, it looks very authentic on me.

in general, blond and tan don’t mix.

  • not really because it’s going to age the crap out of her, prematurely, which is not attractive, neither is melanoma.

  • Meh. I don’t care. I’ve embraced my pasty white skin.

  • In the long run, sun damaged skin is the quickest way to look older faster.

I’m more attracted to men who naturally have a darker complexion.

  • I hate tans. I like my womenz pale.

  • Depends, darker brown girl because of tan, yea, hot. White girl with a significant tan in February (sometimes depending on age) screams “Way too high maintenance”.

  • Males of a homogeneous race are considered more attractive when more tan, and females paler. On average, a female of a race is paler due to estrogen’s effect on our bodies. Therefore, tanning your hide has a masculinizing effect. The fad of tanness is just that- transient. Nearly all other cultures value paler-than-average and so have western cultures before celebrities went to exotic places and toasted themselves doing so.

  • I hate the tank top tan. There’s nothing more disgusting than an older woman’s leather-like and permanently burnt chest/neck area.

  • theres a difference between being tan and being orange. there are very few people who ive seen that looked good with a little tan. alot of bitches are dumb and think its attractive to be orange though. hah its kinda sad, but whatever. let em look like oranges. i like being pale (:

  • you get more vitamin D when you tan, and vitamin D is good for your skin. tanning also gives your skin a work out. but there definately is such thing as to tan.

  • My personal opinion, no. My personal preference on a guy is light or pale skin. Maybe light/tan skin. But that’s just me. And it’s all about people’s personal preference :)

  • I’m a furry cat so I could care less about skin tones. Now ask me about hair color and thats a different story.

  • It doesn’t matter to me one way or the other.

  • No…I prefer the nerd look….pale white. Tand are for hipstrs and I don’t care for the tragically hip much.

  • I don’t like too white or too tan.

  • yes.  tanned left bikini lines.   so sexy

  • LOL. If people really liked tans so much, I’d be ass deep in guys. I was born with a perfect tan and no one wants me. Draw your own conclusions.

  • Just sometimes. The people I’m personally most attracted to are all pretty pale.

  • I like NATURALLY dark skin. But I also like naturally pale skin. I think a dark tan on someone who would naturally be paler looks a bit odd.

  • Tans make people look thinner.
I’m naturally very white, and look unnatural with a tan.  I like myself how I am.

  • Up north a tan connotates that you have enough money to winter in Florida.

Some whites and Asians would never tan. They only burn.

  • why do people want to be that dark….i like a natural looking tan

  • I don’t like tanning, especially not for myself.  But I do quite enjoy people with naturally darker skin like Mexican people with mixed European and Native Mexican ancestry.  I think that’s just a beautiful skin color.  I’m a natural redhead so I’d look crappy with a tan.  There are about two men in this world who like girls with white skin.

  • I don’t care how a person looks that much…I’d like to have a tan but when I try all I got are some horrible sun burns :

  • Not my face but my leg definitely look better (and more tone) with a tan, so yeah, I rub some color on my legs (not too much) when I’m wearing a dress/skirt. :D

  • Men who are naturally tan can be handsome, but I am not that attracted to pale-ish men who acquire tans. On a side note, I prefer paleish men.

  • I used to have a nice tan and my skin has an olive tint to it but it’s not dark, just olive undertones but I haven’t really been outside in the past few years so I’m pretty pale right now.  I always preferred myself with a tan because of the undertones but last time I had a real tan, people called me Mexican.  I prefer guys with a natural “Gothic” look pale skin, dark hair but with brown eyes I think pale women for the most part look better unless it’s a natural tan or they are naturally darker. I’d have to agree with the girl above who said their natural skin tone.  Natural always looks better.

  • I like natural tan’s dark or not, on anyone. I like pale skin on red heads and brunettes with blue and green eyes… and freckles on everyone :D

  • @Rickalicious - That sounds like something The Onion would make.

  • I don’t mind being pale, but a healthy glow is acceptable.  I do believe people with the orange fake bake needs to lay off the “tanning.”  (As do the people who lay out in the hot sun for hours without the proper sun protection.  Skin cancer is no joke.)  I guess “washed out” or “pasty” is not that attractive in my opinion.

  • Homie cow! She’s darker than I am!

  • Most of the time, I think a genuine medium tan looks better than pasty
white (I am fair-skinned).  It looks healthier to have some color, as
    long as it is natural.

  • A subtle tan is nice. I do like pale girls though. However, I think I’m too pale…I have black hair but yet I show up the whitest out of everyone in all my photos. I might get a fake spray tan, because I would never try to bake myself in the sun.

  • No, especially if their hair color is too light for it.

  • I like every skin color…Minus Dorito orange.

  • Some people look good with a tan, that is, if they were born with it. I like my skintone. It’s just right for me.

  • I have a tendency to be attracted to men with fair complexion… but subconsciously, my sisters believe I just want to be white. Like if I date white dudes it will rub off or something…. idk

  • I do like the look of bronzed skin. I haven’t tanned in years, I am prepping myself for having nice skin still 30 years from now.

  • Tan looks sexy… but when people overtan and be of same color as the annoying orange, well IDK. lol

  • I actually find pale skin attractive.

  • Nope, especially if it’s obviously fake.

  • Absolutely, most people look so much better with a tan – but that doesn’t mean you should tan. But when I do I feel much more confident and sexier.
