  • True Religion Jeans

My oldest son wants me to buy him a pair of “True Religion” jeans.

They cost between $150 to $300 per pair.  Most of the good ones are around $300.
What is the most you would pay for a pair of jeans?

  • They look nice but that price is ridiculous! Definitely more than I’d pay. I don’t know the most I’d pay, I guess I’d go higher for jeans that fit unusually well, but not that much for sure.

  • Around $30 or less.

  • I would never pay $100.00 for a pair of jeans!   ^..^

  • I’ll pay more for high quality clothes…within reason. I just don’t have that many clothes…:/

  • Between $30-$100 sometimes more, I don’t like cheap jeans though. Btw true religion jeans are pretty good jeans i’d recommend them

  • First off… I want to sinceerely wish you a happy bringing in the New Year for you and your family.

If they were True God jeans, I’d pay…
unlimited amounts (well, not that much),
but they’re not, so 25-30 is all I’m going for… if that.

  • Maybe $50? I haven’t bought new jeans in so long. And my kids get whatever prices are at Walmart right now.

  • Whatever goes on sale at Kohl’s (which, on a higher scale is around $30-$35 per pair).

  • I read the title as “True Religion Jesus” and thought it was a new internet meme.

  • How much for a potato sack these days?

  • I wouldn’t spend more than $45, if they were new. Thrift store jeans are usually softer and more broken in, and if you can find them in the right fit, better for the budget.

  • What’s it made of? Gold?

Jeez.. That is really pricey for a pair of jeans, there is NO way i would pay half of my rent on jeans LOL. I’ll stick to my $20-30 pairs that look exactly like every other pair of jeans lol

  • $30 or less.

How anyone could pay $300 for a pair of jeans is beyond me.

  • Up to $50 a pair.  Most of mine cost about $30 to $35/pair.  How long do $300 jeans really last?

  • What the lowest I can bid on Ebay.  Tell your son when he earns $300.00 you won’t object to his spending it on one pair of jeans and see how fast his priorities change.

  • Not even $100.00! Phew!

  • I’d pay $30 max… seriously I buy all my clothes from Ross or similar stores. Decent brands at discount prices. True Religion are a ripoff.

  • Normally between $20 and $60.

  • $30. Maybe $40, but not more. I have some Wal-Mart jeans that I love. They’re comfortable, fit me perfectly, and I love them!

  • I bought jeans from pull n bear for like round 50 plus sing only cos it was such a good fit and looked rugged and plus it was on sale, otherwise noting more than 70…

  • Tell your son if he wants those jeans, to get himself a bloody job.

  • Interesting. The CEO of True Religion jeans claims they are manufactured in the USA. If so, that would explain their high cost. Bitches earning over $20 per hour are manufacturing that shit.

  • $120 I think is the most I have, and would, pay

I get most of my pairs for under $50 though

  • 20 bucks. The only thing I ever notice about jeans is whether they fit. Brands mean nothing.

  • I don’t care what the designer or brand is, no pair of jeans is worth more than $30, maybe $40 tops. Any more than that is absolutely ridiculous.

  • I’m with those who would pay no more than 30 bucks for a pair of jeans.

  • $50would be the absolute most that I would ever spend. even then, I would probably put them back instead. I like goodwill for ‘expensive clothing’.

  • I think the most I’ve ever paid for jeans was $30-$35.  And I’ve only found one store where jeans fit me without me having to try on twelve hundred pairs.

  • I would not pay more than $40 for a pair of jeans.

  • If he is responsible enough to take care of his clothing well and wash/dry properly he can easily get 5-10 years out of those jeans. If he’s just going to drag them on the ground under his sneakers, no way. I have jeans in that same class that I have had for 9 years. I’m kind of sneaky, I would buy him a pair from ebay (making sure they were comparable to the wash he wanted) and see how he does with those. If he’s just trying to keep up with the others, then psychologically he’ll be satisfied. If he really wants a good pair of jeans he’ll also be satisfied.

  • I hope your son enjoys his gift.

5 bucks — for ANY piece of clothing. All of my clothes are used or are given to me.

  • Man you guys get your denim cheap! I usually shop at winners and get awesome jeans for fairly cheap (or so I THOUGHT)… $20 for a pair of jeans? That would be pretty amazing. Then again I am picky. And I’m a free agent working full time so I only worry about spending and saving for me right now

  • I spend $50 or less. I typically have to buy jeans at the urban clothing stores because of how my body is built. I end up having to spend money on brands like Dereon or baby phat and those are on the higher end of my spending limit for a pair of jeans.

  • $30 at walmart.  I am cheap.

  • I have never spent more than $40 for jeans.

If I had a son and he asked me for $300 jeans I’d make him earn the money to pay for them. save his allowance, take random odd jobs, etc. There is no way I’d pay that much!!

  • Your eldest son seems to have a gay man’s fashion sense.

  • the most i’d ever pay is $50 for a single pair.  but… i have a very strange body shape.  very few jeans work with it.  i stick to Levi’s and American Eagle.  some Target jeans work for me, too.

i’ve never owned a “designer pair” of jeans.
the way i price anything is to estimate how long i’d have to work at my current job to earn that much money.  example: $300 is a week’s pay.  i’m not willing to work a week just for a pair of jeans.  your average $40 Levi’s, though?  that’s 4-5 hours.  not bad, considering i can usually wear jeans for a few years before they get too worn.

  • I would NEVER pay that much for a pair of jeans. The most I would pay is $30. Im not too picky about name brands, just so long as they are decent quality and do their job.

  • The only pair of jeans I have owned was when we did PE dance and did a video peformance at secondary school (eight weeks for one hour per week)  we had to do all the PE sports whether we were a boy or girl  until year ten and eleven.

It cost my parents £15 for me to have a pair of jeans and have never worn a pair since I did PE.

I live in the United Kingdom

  • Never pay more than $25 for jeans.

A brand name is never worth the cost, and the quality will be questionable.

  • I buy my kids’ jeans at thrift shops and consignment shops for about $8  bucks. This is outrageous.

  • First, there are places where you can get those jeans for much less than $300.  Secondly, TR jeans are pretty much “not cool” anymore.

Hook him up with a pair of Levi 511 or 514 depending on build.  Levis, while old school, are very “hip” now.

  • Most I’d pay is $50 if they’re good quality… But honestly all of my jeans right now are under $20 (But I must admit girls usually have a lot of cheap options for whatever is out there. I.e. knockoff Chanel bags, etc.) Maybe when I grow up my budget will change, we’ll see. But I never wear jeans anymore, I always wear leggings or tights, which are all $10 or less. Thicker ones in winter, of course.

  • @steph843 - personally my cheap jeans are from Wet Seal. They always have sales so you can get two for $30 or something like that. The fit isn’t perfect but yeah.. I guess it depends on your body.

  • get him a couple.

The most I would pay for a pair of jeans is $45 but that is just me and I’m an old lady. lol

  • I only buy Old Navy jeans. They’re around $30 or less when they’re not on sale. I usually get them when they’re on sale. $150 is a lot for clothing. Do they have special powers??? Do they never get frayed?? Are they insured??

  • Online Coupon Island is a discounted coupon site from where you get all products code

  • Living in Costa Rica we have a chain called Ropa Americana. They sell “used” clothes from the USA. I pay 1-2 dollars for almost brand new jean shorts, and almost brand new long jeans cost about 6 bucks. I’ll wait for a few years and get a pair of those 300.00 jeans when they arrive here.

  • $45 MAX. (Not $300)

  • absolute most? 50,,, but I’ve never paid more than 30.

  • Designer denim isn’t really cool anymore…

  • @likitiny - hmm I don’t think we have wet seal in Canada, it doesn’t sound familiar

  • However much a pair of Wranglers cost.  Typically between $14-$50 depending on the style you get and the store you buy them from.  But really its a great pair of jeans that is extremely comfortable and durable.

  • You can buy True Religion Brand Jeans & other designer jeans at second hand stores like Plato’s Closet for a lot less.

  • Ideally, I pay about $15-20 when jeans are on sale (and I get real denim… none of that crap with ‘filler’ material in it). But I would pay up to $50 for a good pair, though it would make me cringe. Never more than that. There are way too many good deals to need to pay a lot of jeans.

  • $55-75 from Eddie Bauer.
Otherwise, $20, at Wal-Mart, for Wrangler.

More than that is absolutely insane.

  • I would pay that much if everything in them came from the US.

  • I can’t see myself paying more than $30 (if that) for a pair of jeans. I usually get mine for $12 or so.

  • Yes what are they made of i usally spend$20-$30 on jeans i dont by desiner jeans only Old Navy,Riders,Faded Glory nothing like$100-$300 wow.

  • Sadly, so many clothes are made in the same places with different tags applied. I bet it cost less than $10 to make ANY pair of jeans. Unless they use pure gold thread and zippers, I wouldn’t buy them. Haha

  • I’m sorry, unless the buttons and zippers are made of gold or pure silver (which would be kinda pointless anyway) ANYONE who pays more than $50 for a pair of jeans is an idiot. Simple as that. They’re just falling for hype and marketing. The CEOs of companies that make those “fancy” jeans gotta be rubbing their mittens and just laughing their asses of at people’s abysmal gullibility.

  • $10 down at the Salvation Army if they have my size…Your son is not supporting “True Religion” by paying these prices…He is supporting the “Moneychangers” that Christ kicked out of the Church so long ago but with time many churches have managed to kick Christ out of church and have put the moneychangers back in control. Which is why I don’t do….”megachurches”….they are more concerned about the money then they are about Christ…and there are an abundance of megachurches in this country and they are everywhere and your son is having your money (or maybe his own) out of his wallet and into their overly funded coffers…and maybe he does not realize this yet but the two things he is getting is disillusioned and ripped off…BIG TIME. No don’t do it! He is being lead by money vultures.

  • @Tallman - And if its over $10…I go to casual Male where they almost always have my size and its usually around $50…that is my price limit…anything over $50 is insane….and most overly priced “hipster” jeans last about a month. And it helps if I can find any that have a “made in America” label. Almost all jeans I come across in Casual Male do not….I tend to find those oldie but goodies in The Salvation Army.

  • Three words: Burlington Coat Factory. I mean, if you can luck up and find a name brand for cheap, go for it. $300 for a pair of jeans? Well, it better cure cancer or make your farts smell like Febreze—something beyond being a pair of jeans.

The most I paid for a pair would be $40 and that was before this whacked out economy. Right now, I’m in the $20 range. I don’t give a shit.

  • True Religion ?? I don’t remember anyone from the Bible (or any other denomination for that matter) wearing blue jeans. Sounds like an ambitious company headed for a fall simply cause they are – (wait for it) “Too big for their own britches.” Φ

  • 48.00 dollars is the absolute most I would spend. I’ve payed 24.00 for a pair of jeans and they’ve lasted for years. Tell your son to look for a better deal. :)

  • uhh, I usually pay  around 10bucks…

  • @Tallman - Wait, what does a pair of jeans have to do with money vultures in a church temple, wtf?

  • No more than $50. And that’s before the sale price.

  • For what purpose does your son want True Religion jeans, and is the fulfillment of that purpose worth $150-300 to you? If not, he should probably buy his own jeans.

  • $30 normally, $50 if it’s a special occassion.  Certainly not the prices you mentioned. Curious though, are you going to buy them for him? Present, or just because. And are they really called “True Religion”?

  • @kfaeSPEAKS - I have a Plato’s Closet where I live!!  Have bought many a great stuff from there at a cheaper price.

  • They’re at Nordstrom Rack for $95ish. I would never pay more than $40 for a pair, jeans never last long enough to be worth more than that.

  • I’m content with my forty-dollar Levi’s.

  • $150 if they fit well.  Usually though between $75-$120 is what I pay, but would go up to $150.  So, are you going to buy them for him?

  • i paid about $100.00 for a pair of jeans.  bought 5 pairs.  i had just dropped almost 40lbs.  my ass looked phenomenal in my designer jeans.

  • My boyfriend will only wear Tripp Pants. If it’s not Tripps, he’ll only wear skinny jeans because he either likes a lot of room or no room at all (says the feel of fabric brushing his legs is “weird” -facepalm-) I took him to JC Penny to get some jeans, and of course he had to have a pair of VANS jeans (Cuz they’re just soooo fucking cool) ((
The most expensive jeans I own cost $80, and I didn’t buy them (ahh, the perks of being a stripper…. but those days are gone). They are very nice jeans from Buckle, look good and fit perfect and are good quality, but it’s still more than I’d ever pay for jeans. I’m a cheap skate -shrugs-

  • @Tallman - To be 100% honest, those designer jeans are actually of better quality than 10 dollar jeans you’re talking about. They last much longer and the color typically does not run as much.  That being said, obviously, $300 jeans are ridiculous.  Probably the only thing that I can justify spending that much money on nowadays (clothes wise) are suits and business wear.  Usually they are worth the money because a well dressed person will make more money than a poorly dressed person.

As I mentioned in another comment.  Pick your kid up some Levi’s (511 or 514).  They are cheap enough to be able to buy multiple colors and if they end up getting ruined, you won’t feel as bad throwing them away.  If his friends aren’t wearing them now, they will be wearing them soon.  He will might actually thank you for it.

  • My jeans costed $15 – $20. Bought them all nearly 6 years ago and still perfectly good :)

  • If he wants them, he can work for them. Babysitting or something. It is not like food, rent or college books where he’s in a tight spot, you know?

  • @Xx_DeUce_xX - lol. You tell’em.

  • Whenever Old Navy has their jeans on sale. I think they retail around 40? But I usually never pay more than 30, and on black friday they are 10-15 each. THEY ARE THE BEST JEANS.

  • I see the majority vote is against designer jeans. As a woman I have to admit that although $300 jeans sounds ridiculous compared to $30 jeans, usually the $300 pair does fit better to a woman’s body and in turn looks more flattering. To each their own though. Anyhow, if he really really wants them you can buy some of the older seasons but still brand new at Nordstrom Rack for around $100+.

  • 30 – 50 dollars is my budget for jeans. more than that is too much! i don’t mind the brands, but i’ve noticed that levi’s and denizen have always fitted me well. :)

  • you can get all the same designers at stores like marshalls, t-jmax, etc..why pay full price?
