  • The U.S. Flag

A bill has been introduced in Arizona that would require the U.S. Flag to be flown in every classroom from kindergarten all the way up to state funded universities.  The bill has received some level of controversy.

Is it unrealistic to require state funded schools to fly the U.S. flag in every classroom?

  • Nope!

  • Why shouldn’t they fly it????

  • I’ve never seen a classroom without a flag here…..so unrealistic…NO!

  • Flags are cheap…patriotism is important.

  • flying it is fine…it’s the pledge that i don’t agree with…

  • Well, if the state’s funding it, there go all the fine arts programs.

  • In every classroom, yes.

    In every school, no.

  • no

  • I bet the PC Left wants to fly the Saudi Arabian flag.

  • It’s not unrealistic for some schools, but what about the schools that don’t have as much money? Yeah, flags aren’t that expensive, but that money could be going towards something that could actually help the children learn.

  • Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to fly the State flag?

  • We had a flag in every classroom when i was a kid. I don’t think it’s unrealistic.

  • i already thought it was done anyway…i sub teach in a lot of school’s and have 7 kids….and every classroom i have ever been in, in my entire life, has had a flag in it…

  • the flag is fine .. but its the pledge of allegiance that i personally dont like

  • No. In fact, when I was in elementary, it was required ( I think just by schools) to say the pledge of allegiance every morning.

  • No, it’s ridiculous that people would get uptight about it.

  • i reread the question….i think i would rather see a bunch of desciptions of what the flag means to the kids, rather than the flag itself…it’s the idea behind the symbol that matters, not the symbol alone…..

  • nope

  • I don’t see what’s so big about it.

They fly em everywhere in all our schools, and they -make- us say the pledge.

I never say the pledge, never have, never will.

I have little-to-no Pride for my country.

But that has nothing to do with Bush or whatever, I just have no pride in anything.

  • In every classroom, yes, I would say so. We don’t in our school, so I don’t think it’s quite as important as other things they could be spending the money on.

  • It’s not un realistic, but I think it’s rediculous.

  • Sweet Jesu, Dan, you got spam raped the last post.

  • Why not? It’s in America.

  • but i do think that sometimes we treat the flag as more of an idol than an icon. . . someone around xanga was just talking about this (but i can’t think of who. . .grr). the flag deserves respect as a symbol of our country and history. and if the country is paying for the building, hey, why not let it fly?

  • i’ve never seen a classroom without an american flag, so i don’t see how it is unrealistic.

  • absolutely and they should say the pledge too.

  • No, although our Congress should be worrying about much LARGER problems….

  • It’s okay. After all, this IS America!

  • ryc: Hahahaha!

    It’s a gesture of caring.

  • Yea and wtf was up with all that spam? Are people stupid or something? do they have no lives?

  • i dont understand what is trying to be accomplished by putting a flag in every classroom
    is it for looks?

i dont really care if there’s a flag in the room or not…just doesnt matter much, we havent had to say the pledge of allegience since 9/11

  • Yes, and entirely unneccesary – I’m sorry, but I hardly find the flag to be essential to schooling. I have no respect for a flag; in fact, it’s difficult to even respect our country in its current situation.

  • It’s all about history…

Your grandfathers all fought for the freedom to fly the flag…we should respect it and teach kids to respect it as well.  You may disagree with politics, but don’t knock your freedoms.

  • No.
    I think it’s a good idea.

  • No, it’s not unreallistic to fly it in every class room.   It shoud be mandatory.

Only those idiots among us who hate their own nation would object to this.  It’s a matter or national self respect.

  • What’s the fucking point?

  • What’s the fucking point?

  • “Flags are cheap…patriotism is important.”

Well said, sir… couldn’t have put it better myself!

  • I’m so out of it, I live in AZ and I didn’t know that, and now I feel ignorant and stupid.

Flying the flag isn’t that big a deal, particularly since the classrooms are funded by the state, so it makes sense. I think it’s saying the pledge that’s a bigger deal and a bigger controversy. most of the classrooms i’ve ever been in had the flag up anyway.

  • hell no! its our flag!! why not??

  • i think that is so stupid.
patriotism is not that big a deal.
at school we say the pledge every morning, but I dont even stand up or say it.
i dont believe in such strong patriotism, especiallt when the pledge is a bunch of lies.
ive actuall gotten in trouble for not standing up, but they cant do anything abut it.

  • Well, when I went to school, the windows would barely open, making it nearly unbearable during Indian summer.  But even with a breeze, it would surely not cause a flag to fly.  It would simply hang there on its pole.  So no. They simply could not fly in every classroom.

  • Yeah, they tried that in texas once…it wont be able to be inforced

  • Don’t spend tax dollars on it.

    Candy

  • oh god, not these people again.

  • patriotism is important for all americans because we live in the greatest country made by man…and i think alot of people take for granted for where they live…so yeah i guess a flag would be a reminder of that….i dunno…

  • I agree with Evowookiee….it’s part of our history, and if we live and send our kids to school in the US, we should expect that the kids will be taught American history and that the American flag will be flown.  You may not agree with everything that’s going on in our country right now, but the freedoms we do have were hard won by those that came before us, and kids need to learn patriotism.   I don’t think I have ever been in a classroom that did NOT have a flag.  I would say that most of them do already.  It won’t take that much money to put them in those that don’t.  Our kids aren’t being raised in Mexico, or England, or Saudi Arabia.

  • No, and it used to be standard practice.  Back when pledging allegience to the nation providing your free education wasn’t politically incorrect.

  • Get a life, Mr. Business Suit.  Write something worth reading and maybe you’ll get featured.

  • Not at all.  This is America, and it only seems logical to have an American flag in the classroom.

  • I think it’s a waste of money. One in per school or per building. Per classroom is excessive. Maybe not so much at a small town elementary school with less than ten classrooms, but at a university with hundreds of classrooms it would really add up.

  • spamming’s just a liiiiitle bit immature, just a wee bit

  • Heck no.. I don’t know why anyone would be opposed to this.

  • seriously, stop… this is dumb…. and can get your IP banned from xanga most likely

  • OMG WTF NO WAI!!!!1!1!11

Is it that necessary? Instead of buying flags, how about we buy books that illustrates American history with the money we saved from NOT buying flags?

  • I want to know the reasoning behind the bill. What’s their motive?

  • I think it is a good idea. That way when they say the pledge of allegance or abstain from saying it, they have a flag to pledge to.

  • Kids, find something better to do.  Go do drugs.  Now THAT’S brainless.

  • Good grief. SPAM again??

  • If it is a federally funded school, it is absolutely not unrealistic.  I guess I thought this was already standard practice.  (It was when I was in school in the 70′s and 80′s.)

  • I don’t think they’re really going to accomplish that much, but it’s a government funded school, I don’t think too many should have a problem with a symbol of that government being in the classroom. If you don’t like it, either invest in private school or homeschool your kids.

  • i think it wouldnt be a bad idea but, is it nessecary, no

  • yea dan just block this guy/ girl

  • Dan, you need to block this jerk everytime he spams you. He will probably set up another fake account and do it again, but just keep blocking him. Also I would contact Xanga to complain and give them his IP#. We are behind you!

  • nah it’s patriotic

  • No, and  I do believe we had one in class when I was growing up. And I was totally po’d when they took “one nation under god out” we are losing more than “the fall of the nation” when we take our identity of our country away from the future leaders of our country.

  • patriotism cant simply be aquired by flying a flag
    patriotism requires spirit
otherwise, any fool can wave a flag and say ‘im a patriot’

    plus
not everyone supports america ((personally, i do, but im not everyone))
they might take it offensivly that there are american flags flown in classrooms
and we cant force them to support it
maybe their only in america cuz they cant go anywhere else

    but, thats just my thoughts

  • NO!

    <><Renee’

  • no way, i think its already a law in missouri, i’ve grown up with it, so nope, not unrealistic

  • and I don’t protest the spamming of featured content by thetheologianscafe

    =)

  • that’s dumb. they should stop.

  • Dude, you’re an awful poet.

  • Not unrealistic, just pointless.

  • hey just ignore that guy. you should actually make a post about it. just tell every one not comment him. if he doesnt think it’s annoying, he’ll stop doing it.

  • YES!!!!!!!

  • by all means, every american school needs to have an american flag, but to make a law requiring it to be in every classroom is just ridiculous.

  • I think it’s an amazing idea to fly the flag,,,, We should be proud of our country,,, We’re free,,, If you don’t want to support this country well then maybe you should not be living here…..

  • Yeah Fly it, why not? It’s a reminder of the Fourth of July SALES that are coming up!

A little suggestion, the “block user” I think you may want to use it on that person who has been flooding your site with comments…

  • I believe that there should be a flag in every class room b/c it’s america!! We are and should be proud of our country and the men and women that r fighting for our freedom!!! I say that if u don’t like the idea of having a flag in a classroom or don’t support our country then get the heck out of the US

  • No; but it’s a poor use of government funds.

  • What are they going to do? Put a fan up in the classroom or put it in front of the air conditioner so it can fly? If you don’t live somewhere windy it just sits there folded anyway.. unless you put it on one of those wall mounts..

but anyway… I really don’t see why they can’t put the american flag up, that’s what country we’re in, right?
    We are americans, right?
It’s apart of our heritage, right?

But then why are they spending money on flags when they should be spending it on important things that are actually needed in schools, they’re often complaining of low budgets you know… But then if someone wanted to donate flags, that’d be nice.

  • I think it is perfectly approriate in publicly funded schools. It should not be enforced in private institutions though.

  • no, I dont see why not.

I mean, its not like Flags are really expensive.

I could live with or without them.

  • Nope

  • no, it’s a state institution, however I (as a patriot) believe they shouldn’t have to say the Pledge of Alliagence because it is unAmerican because it has the line “one nation under God”. Not to say that God is unAmerican, but our nation was founded on the Enlightenment value of freedom of religion and I think it is an insult to our founding fathers and mothers to have that line in the Pledge.

  • There’s a flag in all rooms of the schools in my school district.

  • There was a flag in every classroom when I was growing up, so apparently it is physically possible.

  • dont bug me eaither way, some peaple who make the flags are goona be gettin some awsome cash

    <^.^>

  • Hmmm I would say that would cost a good amount of money to buy all of those flags. Is not there not a flag already outside of the schools? I think it would make more sense if they had just one flag outside of every state funded school so that everyone can see it rather then having one flag per classroom. Also people can’t be instilled into having patriosim into their country. It has to be earned just like everything else. Prehaps people need to understand and see how other countries suck compared to ours is in order.

  • why not? I personally enjoy doing the pledge of alligence to a real flag

  • u r wired

  • Although it would cost some money to buy that many flags, it’s not unreasonable. Last year, we didn’t have a flag in our class and it was confusing when they’d say the pledge. We wouldn’t know where to look..ha. I believe most of us are used to assuming there will be a flag in every class.

  • i guess not. we already have the american flag and the state flag in every classroom, so i guess it would be no diffrent for me.

  • What does anyone not living in AZ have to say about it? It’s a matter of states rights. Thats the WHOLE POINT of our holiday coming up next week. -

  • Nooo…Unless they…don’t like the flag or something.

  • Wow.  Top 6 slots.  This makes me laugh.  It really does.  That boycott has really hurt you today, huh?  *rolling my eyes*  Was just browsing some sites, and what DMV said about all this junk made me laugh. :)

  • no

  • Joy, another spammer.

So much to say to the jackass, so little time.

  • I don’t necessarily think that having a flag in every classroom is unrealistic. I mean, just about every classroom I’ve ever been in has one, so it could be done.

    But….

    1. What’s the point of making it a legislated issue? That’s up to the school.

    2. I don’t really care if there’s a flag in every classroom duct-taped to the chalkboard. It’s good to have flags, but having them in every classroom doesn’t really inspire me to be more patriotic. Maybe a giant illuminated flag flapping in the wind. Maybe. But a cheap nylon flag on a plastic stick doesn’t do much for me. I wouldn’t even notice if there wasn’t a flag in the room unless it was homeroom where I say the pledge.

    3. Where are they getting this money, and why aren’t they making better use of it? Even if they spent $800 per year per school, that amount could better be spent in art supplies, sheetmusic and school instrument repair, textbooks, any number of things.

  • nope, i hope your spam problem clears up!!!!

  • I don’t mean to sound unpatriotic.  It’s a lovely notion, but it kinda sounds like one more thing that tax dollars will be paying for (unless they make the teachers shell out for their OWN flags).  I don’t know. . .doesn’t really seem like something that should be legislated.  A good idea- yes.  But a rule requiring EVERYONE to do it– I don’t know.

  • Well, I- wait a minute.. they’re passing a law about it?

Wow, is Arizona that rebellious, that they have to be MADE to have flags? Now THAT’S a rebellious spirit.

  • no more unrealistic than requiring the recitation of the pledge. the states are of the nation and should pay respect as such.

please, money is not as issue anyway. if they really dont have the funds, the federal gov would pay up gladly for a little patriotism.

  • I don’t see a problem with it.  But where will they get the money for this?  Wouldn’t it be better spent on books?

  • A chemist friend of mine was saying that they have trouble with this law in the lab (I think it’s a law here in Florida)… it’s not that they don’t want to fly it… it’s that to properly hang it, it’s in the way and kind of a hazard.  So I think the law needs to be a little bit smarter.

  • I agree with  EdiesWorld, it actually makes more sense to fly the state flag.

  • no and please respond to this question: do you read these answers becaseu if you  dont i will not be leaving commies anymore….

  • what the hell is up with these people

  • Oh … and here I thought I’d missed the latest wave of idiots! Madonna_Ciccone isn’t setting a very good example …. telling everyone to boycott you yet bumping up your comments ratio! Doh!

Hmmm … wasn’t sure what to say about whether it is unrealistic to require state funded schools to fly the U.S. flag in every classroom – in Scotland we don’t have the same patriotism for our flag and there is more emphasis on what has made our country the nation it is. I guess if there are more important things for the schools to spend their money on, then that should be their emphesis. <><

  • RYC:  Glad you liked the pictures.

  • Hmmm … I see from my footprints that some of these wierdos have been checking my site – only 3 so far! Just wanted to say how chuffed I am, Dan, to see you carrying on regardless! Keep up the good fight! God willing they’ll get bored and/or Xanga will squish them. Hugs, Susan <><

  • I think all schools and business should have the flag.

  • hmmmm… isn’t that like taking away some of our rights though? i’m not sure.

RYC: that comment i left on here last night was from my phone, neat right? thanks so much for the encouragement :)

    Fight Mental Illness Stigma

  • I don’t think so, really. We are American, so why not have our flag everywhere….It is a little obsessive, though, in EVERY single room.

  • Looks like the xanga people actually listened to you and shut down those pathetic spammers.  Awesome.

  • Makes me think of Nazi Gemany personally to see any kind of flag in every classroom. I would like to see money better spent than on a flag in every classroom.  I swear that’s so retarded.  I agree with spidergrass, spend flag money on something that actually matters.

  • it’s plantinga you douche.

  • i agree with erika_Steele. I thought of Nazi Germany as soon as I read that. Let’s not brainwash our children please.

  •  In the school  I went to, every classroom had a framed picture saying “In God We Trust” and above or below it was miniature versions of the state and United States flag. ALL the schools had it, in every classroom. I don’t think it is unrealistic. I think its a nice reminder of where your education is coming from.

  • That is a waste of goveremnt money…such a waste

  • Not only is it unrealistic, its stupid.  Especially in Arizona, of all places.  In a state that close to the border, don’t you think there might be quite a few people who might not even be American?

  • yeah i think that it is realistic because there should be other things that the money should be used for.

  • i mean its stupid its unrealistic why do that when you can make your own!

  • Not unrealistic at all.  It seems like common sense to me.  Why would you be against that?

  • um. Why in the heck is there controversey? There’s nothing wrong with that.

  • Depends on whose paying for them.

Althoughm call me crazy, but I thought pretty much every classroom in public schools arelready had flags.

  • no, not unrealistic at all, especially not IN the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

  • it’s already the case in my state school district. we say the pledge every morning. it’s vaguely ridiculous, and no one really cares. some people don’t even stand. yet no one cares enough to tell them to show respect, because most of us don’t say it. it’s all so silly. shouldn’t we be worried about other things? shouldn’t you be worried about other things??

  • it is the US, so i would say no. if someone has a problem with that, then they shouldn’t be an american citizen.

  • no idon’t ever remember a class without a flag

  • Hm.  I don’t see how this is a big deal.

  • In every class room is a bit un-realistic. Every school would be alittle better. The money saved on all those flags could go to something usefull, like teachers salary.

  • When I was in school (decades ago) we had the American flag in every classroom and we said the pledge to it in the morning.  And guess what?  It didn’t hurt us at all to do so.

I say, if you don’t want to pledge allegiance to our flag, then pack your bags and leave and go live somewhere else.  Anywhere else.  You will be begging to come back to this country after you have a taste of somewhere else.  Go ahead go to France, Italy, Germany, old Soviet Union (pick any of those countries they have evolved into) Go to Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Afganistan.  Heck go to Spain, Portugal, Britain, Scotland, Ireland.  Yep, pack your bags and go to China, North Korea, New Zealand, Aussieland.  Hot foot it to Greenland, Iceland, Sweden, Netherlands, Norway.  Go anywhere, but get your you know what out of the greatest country on earth.  Men and women have died so you can be an a$$hole about the pledge.   And there is ALWAYS  north of the border, Canada.  Oh but wait!  If you go to Canada who is going to save your butt when the Muslims start terrorizing this part of the world?   Why the good old USA is gonna save your yellow butt along with all those Canadians who cannot defend themselves but know they can always rely on the good old USA to pull their butt out of the fire.

  • Not really.

    [ariana]

  • Not really, I don’t think so. I think people can display American flags or their native country’s flag.

  • Yes, only because Arizona is one of those states that use to belong to Mexico. Arizona has more Mexican history than US history, so why should it have to have US flags.

  • A flag costs less than ten cents to make.

I don’t see why they can’t hang the US flag in a taxpayer supported facility.

  • No. “Fly” can mean display it in many different ways.  It’s a public school funded with public funds… display our country’s flag.

  • It is fiscally irresponsible. Our tax money should be funding more important things than patriotic icons whose over-abundant presence would soon  render them vapid.

  • They’re gonna make the flag look like just another object on the wall.

Things lose it’s element or substance when often seen.

  • not in the least .. i already thought it was required. not only that, but i’ve gone to private school my whole life and i still have had a flag in every classroom i’ve ever been in.

  • and to bigman91984 – arizona may have a lot of mexican history, but it’s apart of the united states. not mexico. so hang OUR flag.

  • I don’t think it’s really unrealistic. It’s just a waste of manufacturing. But hey, isn’t that what America’s all about?

And I think a more important question is, if all those flags were to be set up in the classrooms, who could it possibly offend? (Serious question)

  • no

  • if they are government funded, then YES, the flag should be flown…

  • Not in the least bit!

  • Nope……….and to the small child above, there is nothing more important than the flag of our country.  Everything comes through the sacrifices to uphold our flag.

  • Most schools already have flags in every classroom, I remember in elementary and now in my highschool at least we always had flags. Even the Texas one. I think in my case it was a school administrative decision. Anyway, there should be a flag in every classroom, yes, its our country that allows both men and women to have an education and helps pay for it too (in our elementary and highschool systems, they pay for it COMPLETELY), they should respect the country and give honor where honor is due. I believe it should be explained to them and give students a little perspective about our country in comparison to others.

  • i believe that it is one of the responsibilities of the schools to encourage a love and pride for their country. it is not forcing anything on them, yet simply proposing loyal citizens for the future. people shouldn’t be so pugnacious about such small “controversies” if it is even worthy of being called such. there are much larger problems to be dealt with.

  • Man, I miss Arizona!!

I totally support the flag idea.

  • It’s just stupid. Would that really cause anyone to be more patriotic?

  • WHY ALL THIS LEGISLATION ABOUT FLAGS ALL OF A SUDDEN?!!!

Seriously… it’s not as if we’re living in a boring, uneventful slice of history. There’s plenty else they could and should be doing besides worrying about flags and xanga.

  • if the state is funding the school then i would say that it isnt unrealistic to apply this rule. its kinda stupid otherwise, the schools in america!!

  • Oh my word!!!! Of course it’s not realistic! Holy cow! This is AMERICA, people!

  • Fly it in every classroom, on every street, from every building, fly the American flag from any flagpole in the country.  I can’t fathom how this could catch any kind of protest.  This is America, let not be afraid to represent in our own country.  Stay fresh, hang loose, aim high, fly straight, USA all the way.

  • This is America right? Why the hell wouldn’t we fly the AMERICAN flag everywhere then? Of course there should be a flag in every single school and classroom – the sad part is, most kids don’t even know what the flag REALLY represents.

  • As a very new high school graduate, I had flags in every class room of every school, all the way to senior year. Some people are saying that it’s not the flag, it’s the patriotism that is important. What they don’t realize is that it is the flag that boosts that patriotism. Everyone remembers the weary and wavering soldiers from Iwo Jima that struggled together to keep our flag from touching the ground. How do you think those men felt when they saw their flag rising out of the carnage like a phoenix from the ashes? And more recently, The World Trade Center. Again, weary and wavering white collar warriors valiantly raising our flag from the ashes of the WTC. Even with the loss and devastation that occured that day, do you not think that people appreciated the symbol of America? My older brother is a Marine, and he stands for our country. His best friend stands for our country. The least we can do here in America, where we are safe, where we are still the land of the free and the home of the brave, is plaster the reminder of our country in a classroom.

As to the money? Add sentiment. Have the kids make the flag together, on paper with their hands. They might appreciate it just a little more that way.

  • We had flags in our classrooms growing up and the world was in a MUCH better shape back then!

  • Oh. PS: To those making a fuss about “One nation under God” being taken out of some pledges or being kept in, please remember.
     1. That particular phrase was not put into the Pledge of Allegiance until the “Red Scare”. The government believed it would help in some way to keep Communism out of our country. I can’t quite remember the original phrase, however.

     and
    2. The phrase “God” doesn’t necessarily have to pertain to a typical Christian or Catholic god. It can stand as YOUR God. As for the atheists and agnostics, you don’t believe in a god anyway, so how is saying “under God” going to offend or discriminate against you anyway?

  • Most already seem to have it in there, but even so, it would be expensive and pointless.

  • we seemed to always have a flag in the classroom, though really to me this is a petty issue, I could not care either way.

  • It might be a tad a waste of money. Perhaps in the entrance hall and principles office…

  • Seems like a waste of time and money if you ask me, and I’m not being unpatriotic at all. That’s a LOT of (unneeded) flags.

  • It’s not unrealistic at all. This is America. That’s the way it’s been for years. Flags and flags. Pledges and crap. Freedom with flags. Classrooms, stand, hand, heart, lies. This is America, kiddies. It’s dumb, but we are people and can learn to ignore shit if it truly bothers us.

  • no

  • The American obsession with the national flag seems strange on this side of the Atlantic where the last vestiges of such patriotic ferver died with the end of the British Empire and the removal of ‘Empire Day’ from the national calendar. It’s kind of quaint, that obsession, but also smacks of a country that despite its power and size still seems paranoid – there’s a need to constantly re-iterate the need for support from the citizens.

  • it’s not unrealistic, it’s just stupid that they would write a law requiring it. every classroom i have ever been in has already had a flag in it.

  • i think one of the most important things in a childs education is national pride!! be happy where you live and learn to respect it so it will respect you back

  • When I was young there was always a flag in each classroom along with a copy of the Declaration of Independence. Each day began with the Pledge of Allegiance. hung on the wall of each classroom. I don’t see a problem with it. It is a “state” funded school. Many private Christian schools have a Christian flag. I do see a problem with requiring “everyone” to say the pledge. We have some religious groups here you feel it is a violation of God’s law to say it.

  • We had flags in every classroom anyway, I didn’t know there were places that didn’t.

  • No, it’s not unrealistic, just inane.

  • It is a most reasonable stipulation. If they don’t want to fly the flag, give them the option of funding themselves. Even by nice about it and let them keep all the property and assets they currently possess.

  • It’s not unrealistic for a government and society such as ours that is devoid of common sense and values. It seems worth the effort to spend on war and promoting such idolatry as flags and taking vows to them, but no such effort seems to manifest toward providing every American with choice and access in medical care, basic income, etc.

  • Why is everyone so obsessed with the flag?  It’s a symbol, yes, but there are lots of other symbols too.  Should a statue of a bald eagle, and a picture of GWB be present in every classroom?  Let’s have some individualtiy and freedom of expression for a change.

  • when the government allocates money to provide education (albeit through our tax dollars) they can decide to have flags in every classroom if they want. so…if the government says yes, then yes.

but in private schools they can’t dictate this issue.

  • who cares! i live in California.

  • A girl and a guy were speeding over 100 mph on the road on a motorcycle…

    Girl: Slow down, I’m scared.

    Guy: No, this is fun.

Girl: No it’s not. Please it’s too scary!

Guy: Then tell me you love me.

Girl: Fine I love you. Slow down!

Guy: Now give me a BIG hug. (Girl hugs him)

Guy: Can you take my helmet off and put it on yourself? It’s bugging me.

In the paper the next day: A motorcycle had crashed into a building because of brake failure. Two people were on it, but only 1 had survived.

The truth was that halfway down the road, the guy realized that his brakes broke, but he didn’t want to let the girl know. Instead, he had her say she loved him and felt her hug one last time, and then he had her wear his helmet so that she would live even though it meant that he would die. If u love any one this much…let them know…before it’s too late… I love you 4 ever…..and always 2 the end….i cant live without ya….b-cuz ur my friend….. Send this to 10 ppl in the next 5 min…and….u will get kissed on Friday by the love of your life

  • They had them in the classrooms when I was in school.  It wasn’t like they were large floor stand flags.  They were small flags (about the size of a piece of paper) mounted in an upper corner of the classroom.  Looking online they cost about $3.00 each.  I am sure they would get them even cheaper than that for a bulk purchase.  I don’t have a problem with it.

  • its not worth the money or time.

  • This is ANOTHER huge waste of government effort/time/money.  Just deciding on it is.  It’s more of a waste if it’s approved.

I’m all for being able to have a flag up in the classroom, but it shouldn’t be mandatory. WHAT A FREAKING WASTE OF A GOVERNMENT!!

  • Im still in school. &I’ve lived in 6 states.
every classroom I have EVER been in has a flag.
What’s the big deal? 99% of all schools already do that.

  • The US Flag should be flown in every state funded classroom. It is natural to teach pride and love for our country in our children.

  • If it does not say what size then the small nylon ones you can buy at wal-mart would be fine.  They are very cheap but serve the same purpose as an expensive one. I think it is a wonderful idea to remind our youth daily of their freedom by having to glance at the flag.  So yes I agree.

  • No..I see no problems with it.

  • no because they do it in connectitcut, even though most kids do not say the pledge, some even refuse to stand.

  • Aren’t there better things to spend taxpayer money on?

  • The schools do not recieve enough funding as it is. To require one in every classroom is overkill. However, there should at least be one flown at every school.

  • why is this even an issue?

  • > Sorry,  but not! If’n the immigrant population at large doesn’t want to be reminded or where they are or who they support, roll it up, strike your teepee, tent, camp what have you and go back to your ethnic origins. This is America, our flag is its symbol, and I don’t know of any country anywhere that doesn’t have the same idea. Why should we be any less adament about it?

Peace when you can, battle when it comes down to it.

  • It’s pretty lame that they force patriotism down our throats like that. My state has done that too, and every morning they do a “broadcast” kind of thing over the televisions, and EVERYONE must stand, but they do not have to recite. It seems like a lot for trouble to go through for nothing. I agree w/ DDRFreak(which rocks btw) I am not patriotic to this country and if things keep going they way they are, I never will be. Take it from a student who goes to a POOR school. WASTE OF TIME, EFFORT, AND MONEY.

  • if the government is funding it, then they can have the schools do whatever they want. ‘sides, it’s a part of American history, so even if the school doesn’t want to be patriotic, they might as well be accurate.

  • Being the antidisestablishmentarianist I am, yes it is unrealistic to require the flag to be flown in schools. No one should be required to be patriotic.

  • They do it in NJ. At leaset, in the town I live in.

  • Well the US Flag is ouf flag, government funded schools should fly it, AND teach the kids the pledge!

  • omg have a bitch fit y dont u!! jk jk !! wtf r u?

    j/w..

  • like seeing the flag all the time is going to make us love america.

i think we’d just get sick of it

  • I guess I’d ask *why* they want to make flying the flag mandatory and then compare their goal with a realisitc result.

I think flying the flag should be the decision of the school/district. Allowed? Absolutely. Mandatory? I dont feel too good about that.

  • All of my schools growing up did. Why not?

  • that’s kind of extreme.
