  • Your Most Valuable Possession

An Army veteran is selling one of his medals on eBay so he can provide food for his wife and three kids. Here is the link: Link

    This story made me sad.

What personal possession do you feel is most important to you?

  • That is really sad.

  • Very sad indeed!

My most valuable possession is my Bible.  Cliche’, maybe, but there it is…

  • My boyfriend and I recently had a house fire and lost everything. But, we were at my parents and actually had two of our prized possessions with us- the watch his mom gave him and the necklace he bought me for our pre-engagement.

  • That is so sad, I hope whoever buys it gives it back to him, I guess my camera’s the thing that I have that’s worth the most money, but my raggedy ann doll is the most valuable thing to me but no one would even pay a penny for her ,the dog chewed off her face and she’s bald besides.

  • My most valued possessions are photos and my daughter’s Daisy Scout scrapbook.
We don’t own anything that’s really valuable except for our house. We’re simple folk.

  • does it make me a terrible person if my most important possesion is my most valuable possession and my most valuable possession is the one item that will generate the most money if sold?  Which is my car … or maybe a white gold diamond ring (that was gifted to me from a close family friend years ago)?

Or is that just sound logic?

  • my grandfathers medals i sold

  • Probably my penis. I don’t want to lose that.

  • That’s super sad. Bummer for that guy, but kudos to him also for doing what he’s gotta do. My most prized possession isn’t a possession at all, it’s my son. But I guess if I had to choose one MATERIAL possession as my  most prized, I’d probably pick my knitting needles and yarn stash. Maybe it’s stupid, but I’m lost without something crafty to do.

  • I know this sounds terrible but It’s a tie between my collection of Harry Potter books or a stuffed animal I’ve had since I was five (Moose!). No matter what’s happened to me and no matter where i go these items are always with me and they’re like baby blankets. They hold all the tears I ever shed over stupid boys and arguments with my family and I’d feel awkward without them.

  • Ugh this is so frustrating. At least there are people who understand the severity of the situation and are trying to help him out with a job, clothing, and stuff.

Our childrens’ pictures. That’s the one thing if we lost we’d probably lose.

  • my car. It happens to be the most valuable cashwise thing I own, but that pales in comparison to what it means to me in allowing me freedom and opportunities, and safety when I have no home.

  • It’s a federal crime to traffic in U.S. military medals under to the Stolen Valor Act of 2005. The man is a brazen and wanton criminal and shouldn’t be pitied. He’s thumbing his nose at the rule of law and the American people through his heinous actions.

  • The Shroud of Turin.

  • Probably my engagement ring.  It’s very unique and beautiful, and apparently my fiance had a very hard time tracking down one he knew I liked.  He won’t tell me the full story til after we get married.  =P

  • So. Maybe the social safety net isn’t worthless after all?

  • this story is so heartbreaking :(

  • that’s so sad…you would think that the VA would do something

  • Wait a minute, as far as I know those medals are like $20 or less.  Heck, I’ve bought several of my medals after I misplaced them, they aren’t expensive at all.  What is valuable is your DD214 which lists your medals.  I think he’s ripping people off!  After he gets his $3K he can go back to an army installation and replace that medal.  At any rate, I hope he finds a job!

  • That is really sad The IT field is alive and well in Minnesota though. If only he could afford to relocate…

  • My birthstone necklace given to me by my mom as a baby. And since she passed away, it means more to me than ever.

  • That is sad, but he should be able to get another one; I didn’t get my National Defense Service medal for some reason so I took my DD214 papers up to the army/navy surplus and showed them I was authorized to wear it and they gave me one. I’m sure the one he was decorated with has great sentimental value though.

  • He exchanged something that symbolised enslavement to the American military for the good of his family. That’s not something to feel sad over, his actions should be applauded as for once in his life common sense prevailed and he got his priorities right. My most valuable possession? My point of view and if it shocks the indoctrinated ’sheep’ out there across the pond and makes them think for a second, then I’m happy.

  • That story is very sad!  After our son was murdered, photos of him have become our most valuable possessions.

  • The most valuable item I could sell is my electric wheelchair…retail $6,600.00 but if we move away from necessities I think the most valuable item we have is some sort of rifle hubby won in a raffle for $5.00….retail $1,500.00 I would say our vehicle but I can’t afford that much for someone to take it.  My most precious item is a locket given to my mother by her mother when she got married.

  •          My collection of postcards (because all of them are memories of places I have visited) I will probably not get to visit these places again.

I also think my season ticket and collection of programmes are also important ~  up the owls (Sheffield Wednesday)the reason for the season ticket even though it can be replaced ~ the seat is important because I go with my neighbours and it was his mum sat next to him she had a season ticket,  my neighbours have no kids of the own,    my parents have known these neighbours for 30+ years.

    Family photos as well.

My body parts are important to me.

  • Either my camera or the teddy bear I got for my first birthday.

  • That freaking blows man. How do we let someone who has defended our nation stoop to this low when people are using welfare money to buy crack? :

  • I would say my wedding ring and my photos of my kids when they were little. Everything else can be replaced.

  • A family Bible with the family tree in it <3

  • :( That’s truly awful. . . My most valuable possession is my cat. She means more to me than any material thing I own.

    ♥L

  • Harry Potter books.

  • One of my kidneys ($25,000).
