  • Sugar Babies and Prostitution

I was reading an article about an attractive 20 year old woman who was dating a 60 year old man she met online.
The article is about “sugar daddies” and “sugar babies.”  Women who are young meet up with rich older men and everyone gets their needs met.
In the article, the 20 year old woman is quoted as saying “I don’t call it prostitution, because you are not being paid directly for sex.  You are helped financially in different ways:  You go shopping, you go out to eat, you go to see plays, you have fun.  It’s just like dating.”  Here is the link:  Link

  • Probably more like a high class prostitute.

  • YES IT IS AND ITS WRONG.

  • Meh. I don’t think so. I mean, who cares how subtle they are, they both know why they are in it

  • It’s hard to say which person’s treatment of the other is more degrading here.

  • Prostitution or not, it’s fucking sleazy.

  • We used to call those people lechers and gold-diggers.

  • My opinion is… if they both agree to it, what business is it of mine? Who cares?

  • High class and semi safe prostitution

  • If you’re gonna slut around, why not get paid for it? Win win.

  • If you do the math the answer has to be no. Sugar babies are far better compensated for their “services” than are prostitutes but they have one thing in common. Both professions make them totally reliant for their next meal on men.

  • I wldnt mind the shopping bit, and have a nice meal tgr, or watch musicals plays and etc, but i wldnt sleep with him and if i have to then, ill make him think that he’d slept with but he’s old right so i’ll just get him really drunk and leave..haha just saying..

  • Okay, story time. Once upon a time, I was a stripper. No need to ask why. There’s not a single girl I can think of who says they became a stripper because it was their dream. You’re in it for the money. And while my moral ethics made it hard for me to make money (I couldn’t promise things I knew I’d never give. I had poor “hustle”), the other girls seemed to have no problem. And thus, interesting arrangements could be seen around the club. I saw girls getting cars and jewelry and rent paid and dinner, all without having sex. Strippers are tricky bitches, guys, be careful (but do tip and buy dances, because that’s all they live off of). They call these guys their “sugar daddies”.

Now then, what is prostitution? It’s paying for sex. And when you’re in a relationship, isn’t it expected that the guy pay for dinner and buy his girl nice things? You specifically said that these young girls are DATING these older men. DATING. So it’s not prostitution if it’s dating. Both parties know what’s going on. The men are paying for companionship and the women are getting what they want (because let’s be honest, none of the women are being faithful). is it morally sound? not to most of society, no. But is it prostitution? I don’t think so.

  • @Ravenira - Your defining doesn’t rule that out as prostitution but rather ropes the entirety of dating into prostitution too.

    You’re welcome.

  • Eh….there’s a thin line between sugar babies/sugar daddies and prostitution. And I’m honestly not sure at what point sugar baby/daddy relationships cross that line into prostitution. Maybe because prostitution is solely about the sex, and sugar baby/daddy relationships aren’t…it’s technically NOT prostitution? But still kind of is because you still are paying for the sex, among other things…haha I really don’t know. I do know that some women don’t actually have sex with their sugar daddy, though. Some older men just like a nice piece of arm candy/someone to buy nice things for. Some sugar babies/daddies choose to be monogamous as well…while others don’t. If it’s monogamous, it makes me wonder if they actually consider themselves a couple or not…and if they do, would that still be prostitution? Would it even still be a sugar baby/daddy relationship, or would they just be a couple? Oh, man, I’m looking way too into this hahaha.

  • Not as long as it’s recorded.

  • I’m more worried about what that young woman is doing with her hands all over that poor man’s scalp. Is she about to give him a haircut or something?

  • No, not really any different than women who only date rich guys, or old guys who think models forty years younger should date them.  Well matched couples, with creeps on both sides.

  • Prostitution has to involve Sex. From the Sugar Babies I know, a majority of them have never had sex with a Sugar Daddy, it is more of a companionship thing. Any that do while under the employ of the Sugar Daddy… it is complicated. Similar to the complication of if an Employer sleeps with an employee during work hours… does that count as prostitution? To be prostitution it requires an explicit expectation of sexual services in exchange for money, in the case of most Sugar Babies sleeping with Daddy, you damn well know that the Daddy is paying for that sex.

  • It is all in the eye of the beholder.  All I have to say is if that old fart ahs a heart attack from his sweet young thing, who gets his will.

  • Who cares? They’re both happy, who are we to judge them?

  • My personal moral ethics are just that, mine!!!!!!!!!!

I share the morals of my way of life with my kids and it is there for others to see and emulate if they so choose. I have no problems what so ever with who ever doing what ever to whom ever nor do I feel it is something I should worry about.

All that is important is that happiness is present and I hope that their choices carry over as good thoughts when they go home. (home being heaven)

  • What does the dictionary call it?

  • if I get sick just thinking of being with an old man; yes, it’s not right.

  • Silly, D. Everyone may purchase Sugar Babies at their local convenient store.

  • I agree that many “sugar baby” relationships have an obvious sex for money aspect. Others don’t.

All real relationships are complex and each relationship has its own precise mix of motivations and gratifications. This is true of marriage as well. There are no sharp boundaries. Marrying for money, marrying well and marrying someone your mother would like are all related. Two other points:1) Old guys can make great lovers. Many of us have a much better understanding of what a woman wants and needs and how to provide that than we did 20 years ago.2) Often it’s not money per se, but wisdom or influence, that a younger woman is seeking. Powerful men are very attractive to some women, and they are more likely to be older, if only because influence, like money, often accumulates over time.

  • If there’s no emotional connection. Yes.

  • I’d say they’re closely related enough to be classed together in most situations.

Does that mean it’s wrong, or anyone’s business? Hell no. You want to get paid, go get paid.

  • wait, hold on, slow down!!

You mean to tell me I could save time and hassle and just pay cash for sex?!

    YOLO!

  • @striemmy - Arguably, it’s kind of all the same. People coming to a mutual agreement that benefits both parties, and sex is usually involved. *shrug*

To each his/her own. Is it prostitution? In the same way any other sexual relationship is. Do I care? Nope. As long as everyone involved knows what’s going on and is cool with it, and responsible about it, I don’t give a crap. It’s none of my business.

  • Dating a 60 year old.. Hell yea I think it’s wrong.., I use to like older guys now I did a down grade because I been sexually assaulted harassed by my moms ex fiancé. Back then…, The oldest I dated is a 42 year old.

  • You do realize that those downloading the catalog pages written in MIMANWZG  (chinese script) are also downloading a web threat virus don’t you?

  • so long as women continue to be undervalued and underpaid, they should not be condemned for trading sex for money.

  • @Ravenira - Call it dating, call it prostitution its one and the same thing. To be honest when people dont believe in God then why do they follow his rules of marriage. when marriage is removed from the system of relation what exists is men paying for their sexual needs in cash or kind. Either way its prostitution. Do you agree?

  • Is it prostitution?  Depends on the laxity an individual places on the definition.  Prostitution shouldn’t be illegal, though, so I don’t care.  As long as everyone is consenting to what’s happening, then it’s none of our business.

  • Is a Sugar Daddy a creepy old man?

  • No. Prostitution is only about sex. Sugar Daddying is about shopping.

  • It is not prostitution. It is taking advantage of an old man who is probably lonely and still has male fantasies that he will never ffulfill with her.

  • Sometimes the family of a “sugar daddy” is concerned that the sugar baby is a gold digger and will put contracts and court orders in place to prevent too much financial harm to their inheritance. Bottom line is that there is no sugar daddy in my family and I could care less whether or not he was a dirty old man or not.

There are some gold diggers out there that go to extremes. Some get hurt and some reap a big rainbow of wealth. Most men try to cover up their mistakes of going out with a gold digger. However if Theo Dan has fallen victim to a gold digger, I would surely would like to know…….

  • So when a yoounger man has a relationship with a “Cougar”, is that considered prostitution?

  • On the other hand, forgotten in this blog is that there are women (and men) who desire older companions (str8 and gay) for reasons other than the money. That should be remembered as well.

    -netnguy

  • It looks like that site also caters to cougars. Maybe I’ll do some research on that aspect. hehe.

  • @owais52 - Dating is not prostitution. What you just said is basically saying that any relationship is prostitution, be it between an old man and a young woman or two people of the same age. God has nothing to do with this argument. I myself am religious, but I’m by no means a saint. We’re all sinners. My mother likes to throw in my face that the Bible says if you think about it it’s as bad as doing it. Are you telling me priests don’t EVER think about sex? But I digress. Point is, that when marriage is taken out of the equation, it’s called DATING. We don’t just see someone and get married. You date first, get to know them. And most of the time that also involves sex. Prostitution has nothing to do with dating. Sugar daddy/baby relationships are just that: relationships.

  • @striemmy - Ugh sarcasm. Just what I needed to deal with today. Thanks for that, by the way. The sarcasm, not the actual sarcastic remark. Anyways, no. You’re just wrong, dear. It’s like the other guy that responded to me said, he was talking all about marriage, as if that’s the only defining thing between a relationship and prostitution. Prostitution is illegal, and if you’re saying that I’m saying dating is prostitution, then why aren’t cops pulling in every couple on the street holding hands or kissing? Because it’s not prostitution, it’s DATING.

  • Could you PLEASE block me from your page so you don’t show up on my feed anymore?  I really can’t stand you, your blog, or your extremely sociopathic tendencies.

  • @Ravenira - You’re welcome, though I’m afraid you have nothing to thank me for.

I mean, it’s not like these behaviors, human interactions that involve some element of romance and sexuality, all fall onto some grand spectrum including variables such as time (length of time dating before sex or romantic intimacy occurs), cost (amount of money coming out of a man’s pocket to enable said behavior), amount of emotion involved, and legality (based of course on the different legal proceedings of different regions, nations, cities, and townships). It’s not like the argument can be made that all of the things on the spectrum are in some way closely related (in the way that you and a pig are more related than you and a bird… there’s probably an insult somewhere in there). In fact, I dare say it’s impossible that anyone noticing the existence of the relationships between ideas like prostitution and dating would seek to exploit our fragile american legal system and set up services where men can pay money to participate in activities that fall on the spectrum (like dating services, speed dating, stripping, prostitution, sensual massage, romantic escorts, etc, etc, etc). You’re absolutely right.

  • @VampireOfSeduction - I have an issue with it, in the sense of an impropriety of gender relations. There’s a reason there are more prostitutes than gigolos in the world. I take exception to men who don’t know any better being taken advantage of because our brains are wired differently.

  • Private “prostitution” in a context of a dating relationship is legal
according to UNITED STATES of America, v. Lynnette HARRIS and Leigh Ann
Conley,942 F.2d 1125 as long as the dating consist more than just sex
session.  The court ruled that sex could occur but cannot be the only
activity in the relationship for the things of value to be considered
gifts. That why mistresses and sugar babies are legal. On top of this,
the federal appeals court ruled that mistresses are tax exempted.

  • I’ve been trying to find hours and now I have got such splendid work.
