I am Going To Disney
I am going to Disney World next week. I am leaving on Sunday. We bought a family pack so we get access to all 4-5 parks for all four days. (Does anyone know if the water is clear in the ocean on the Tampa Bay side?)
I am going to try and make this the best vacation every for my family.Where did you go on your best vacation ever?

Enjoy! I have never been to Disney World. My parents were mean. The closest we got was Hershey Park in Pennsylvania.
Congratulations! ^.^ It sounds like it will be an awesome vacation to remember!
My best vacation ever was last December, in Chicago. A symphony concert in celebration of the Final Fantasy game series’ 25th anniversary was the focal point, and dinner at an independent Italian casual-dining restaurant called Cibo Racconto was the icing on the cake.
Freakin sweet. I love DIsney
Disneyland. Have fun on your trip.
@leaflesstree - I’ve never been to Hershey Park. The closest we got was Walt Disney World in Orlando.
Oh, and Universal Orlando > Disney World
The Grand Canyon was one of the best we did with the kids. I live in the Orlando area so Disney just isn’t that impressive
Wow, sounds amazing. I’ve never been….your kids are at great ages to go.
I’ve been on a lot of really fabulous vacations as an adult… it would be hard to choose. There are two that stand out from my childhood. One was a high school choir trip to Italy for the International Choral Festival. We visited Rome, Florence and Venice. But really, the best vacation as a kid was when my family took a road trip from Denver to California. I was so sick they very nearly had to fly me back to Denver and put me in the hospital, but I recovered enough to go to Disneyland with the rest of the family. This was in 1968 so the park was not all that old and many of the attractions were brand new. You had to buy tickets for the different rides and the “E” ticket was to the best rides. I still remember how excited I was.
ha, my family is just about to leave from there Dan
I’ve never been on a vacation before.
That would be our trip to Alaska. Friends of ours were groundskeepers for some property in Ninilchik. We visited them at Thanksgiving time, 2006. It was freezing cold and daylight hours were short, but it was a blast. My photos from that trip were the first ones I uploaded to Xanga.
When I was a kid we also took trips out west, out east, and to Florida. Would like to do all that again. Don’t think I did it justice then.
While you’re over there, tell that damn mouse to hire me.
definitely disney world!!
my friends are going next week, I was invited but I couldn’t go because of my job
have fun!!
@SoapAndShampoo - What an awesome vacation. The NES Final Fantasy is my all time fav game! That would have been an awesome event to go to. So I’m going to have to answer Dan’s question by living vicariously through you.
@Shadowrunner81 - ^.^ Here was the official page for it. It was quite awesome indeed! The concert series itself is an ongoing tour, so hopefully you can see it some day. ^.^
Was in Tampa less than two weeks ago! Went to Honeymoon Island ~40 min NW and the water was nice, though we didn’t have time to hit up the swimming beach. From Honeymoon Is. you can take a ferry ($14/adult) to the nearby Caldesi (?) Is. which looks perfectly IDYLLIC for swimming etc. Except we tried to drive there and that’s not an option. Stupid Google. ADVENTURE!
Anyway, yes you can go swimming.
It’s not just the place, but rather the people one travels with (and meets), and your state of mind, which determine if a vacation is great or not. Dan, I hope you have the most awesome trip with many great memories made.
“I’m going to Disneyland”
Remember that song?
There’s 5 parks???? That sounds like so much fun! It’s also adorable that you want to make it the best holiday ever for your family. What a great dad/husband. Disneyland and Universal are on my definite list for my America Trip!! I’m so jealous.
I work at Disney World!!! I’m at Magic Kingdom on Main Street in the Confectionery! If you’re at Magic Kingdom on Thursday, Saturday or Monday (of any week) hit me up…ask for Jes.
Its soooo hot here right now!! And the parks are crazy busy..are you sure you want to come here? lol
@isitreal_no - Come to America! I work at both I’d be more than happy to get you in as my guest!!
The 4 years I spent in college.
@x_tinydreams_x - I’m planning my holiday for about a years time! Omg that would be so fun! I’m excited haha still so far away though
I hope it is the best vacation ever for you all. It’s nice that you want it to be.
I don’t know about the Ocean there unfortunately.
My best vacation was to Rome. Great city, great Italian guy that I met.
Have fun (will you be blogging on Xanga on your vacation)
It a tough question, I could have said Egypt, a few years ago one of the entertainment team wanted to marry me
, I think the best vacation so far was the coach tour of United States and Canada, we picked a tour which took in some of the cities we wanted to see. We are planning to do another part of United States on a coach tour again in the near future.
Disneyworld of course. Enjoy your vacation.
Best vacation? Outer Banks! Sun, sand, and surf. I am such a water baby.
super

You must get Dole Whip! It’s like a cross between orange ice cream/fro-yo. You can get it at the Aloha-Isle in Magic Kingdom. I LOVE it. Nothing like it! It looks like this: Dole-Whip-Float2.jpg
Also, remember to book table reservations if you want to dine at the theme restaurants. Often, they don’t accept walk ins. Tampa bay water isn’t always clear…Have fun! Disney was my favorite vacation as a kid. Then I didn’t get to go back for about 18 years. Since moving to FL I have gone every year!
My best vacation so far? Probably the time we spent a week hiking and camping in the Adirondack’s as a family. My Dad and I would hike way ahead and leave Mom with all the whining kids. I feel badly about that part now, but we had so much fun exploring the woods!
Or maybe when my Dad, older brother, and I did a 3 day canoe trip. My brother’s arms go sore on the first day and he refused to paddle the rest. Silly boy. It was great to canoe all day and then pull up on the beaches at night and pitch our tents and look at the stars.I need some more nature in my life. It’s been too long.
I just got paid $6784 working off my laptop this month. And if you think that’s cool, my divorced friend has twin toddlers and made over $9k her first month. It feels so good making so much money when other people have to work for so much less. This is what I do, http://www.pro67.com
Hey, I actually do know a little about both coast. The Atlantic Coast will have waves, the water cooler, the sand will be tanish & not as fine & the water is not clear, though it is fine. Further south on the Atlantic is a better choice or Myrtle Beach in S.C., The Gulf of Mexico has very white sand. The water is usually clear, there won’t be many waves at that time of year, kind of like bath water. The problem will be the heat!! We went to a beach wedding in Clearwater (very near where you would go probably) at the end of June & didn’t get in the ocean once.
It was extremely hot. Just walking across the sand was excruiting and at 9:30 am it was already too hot for me on a cloudless day to set up a towel. Most people at the hotel were in the pool. Now if you go out very early or evening, it will probably be pleasant & hopefully won’t be as hot as when we went. We have vacationed many times in Panama City (further north in the curve) & didn’t have that problem nearly as much. Still absolutely love the Gulf. Just a bad time of year if it’s really hot. We also combined and went to the Universal Parks. Some advice: prepare for rain with lightweight ponchos & go anyway
The parks will be much less crowded & you’ll enjoy the cooling off. Think anything to make you cooler as you wait in line. Universal parks do a better job of keeping the guest cool in the waiting lines & more misting stations. I’m not a morning person, but try to think early morning & evening. Then afternoon water parks or pools. Hope you have a glorious time. With the right attitude you can have a blast anywhere. If you do get a chance to go to Universal. (Though sounded like you doing only Disney, which is great, too!) Don’t miss the restaurant in the Island’s of Adventure. It is in the “Adventure section’ it is a Cave with a small river running through it. It is so temperature cool in there & you’ll hear the water. Not to miss! Voted best themed restaurant. Don’t order the mini desserts though…anywhere. Sicky sweet, though they look pretty.
I think paying a bargain rate to stand in line for hours at a time so you can take a 30 second thrill ride makes all the sense in the world.
Have a great time!
as a divorced mother with two sons I would take them on road trips in Texas and sometimes to Ok. and you would think we went to Disneyland and Europe all wrapped in one cause we were together and had a blast!
All that matters is the being together.
The best vacation I’ve had was a Windjammer Cruise, we sailed a four-masted schooner called the Fantome through the Bahamas for a week. The water on the gulf side is usually beautiful, of course the weather will make that call, but I’ve never seen it cloudy with anything except sand when the weather makes the currents stronger and occasionally they have that red seaweed stuff, if they have the seaweed watch out for jelly fish if you swim…The Caladesi Island trip is worth it if you like to get away from the commercial beaches, they do have a snack bar and restrooms on the island but that’s about it, if you went to my page and looked at May 5th, 2013 there’s picture of my sister and me there, you can see how the sand and the water look on a great day. Have the Greatest Vacation Ever!!!!!
<<< considering the name, I may know a thing or two
Anna Maria Island, it’s on the tampa bay side, it’s about an hour or 2 drive from the disney area, it’s the most beautiful beach area you will find in florida. Don’t forget to pack for rain, it’s been bad this past week here, and remember outside rides will go down due to weather, don’t get mad at the cast members
they can’t control the weather. thanks! Also, get fastpasses for the most popular attractions the moment you get in the park and then ride the other rides. And finally, if you are staying at a disney hotel, look for extra magic hours (or just ask the concierge) it’s the absolute best two hours to be in the park. If you have any other questions I’ll be glad to help. Have fun on your trip!
@WaltDisneyWorld - A person can see and experience other cultures just by walking down the street in any city. But I guess you pay the bargain family rate at Disney Land to have everything sanitized and to not have to experience the effects of Democrat Party gun control – getting robbed, assaulted and mugged at gun point by the dirty, hungry ghetto natives.
My 11-day honeymoon cruise to Central and South America.
@ImNotUglyIJustNeedLove - I bet you are the life of the party. Such a sunny disposition
@SherylM - My sunny disposition is courtesy of the Disney Corporation, thank you berry much!
@ImNotUglyIJustNeedLove - hahaha he’s very obviously never been a theme park smack dab in the middle of summer vacation. I’d rather kill myself than go back to Sea World in August. same for the beaches. anyone from Florida knows the worst time to go is during any of the summer months. it’s absolutely ludicrous.
Lmfao… “Does anyone know if the ocean water is clear on the Tampa side”
First, no. It’s not the ocean. It’s the same gulf that you can drive an hour south and get to… and the same water.
Secondly, Tampa is two hours from Orlando, three from Kissimmee in traffic, and it sucks. Cocoa Beach is one hour, straight out hwy 528, and it’s gorgeous.
But you go to Tampa. You’ll love it.
@WaltDisneyWorld - Anna Maria Island, “the most beautiful” beach in Florida?! You should get out more. Sheesh. Top five, maybe, but not the best.
nowhere, no times is a vacation..everywhere is work and a struggle..
I’ve been to Disney World a few times since my parents retired to Florida. I’m planning my first solo Disney World vacation right now, which is a big step for someone with social anxiety and a fear of flying (lol), but I can’t wait to do it. My best vacation so far would be Disney World with just my mom, we left my dad at home and had a blast. My dad is one of those who has to be up at the crack of dawn and see absolutely everything or you’re not getting your money’s worth, when in reality doing that is so not enjoyable, it spoils the whole vacation. Have a great time! :)
Probably our family trip to Europe in 2011. It was so exciting, my dad had planned that trip for years
How about the Antarctic for the most exciting vacation ever? — and another one this fall that I’ll post about at the time!
I’m still on it, Theo ! … Where would I =LIKE= to go ? Antarctica. Truly, I wanted to do that when I was 12-years old and still do today. ⌂ ≈
Say HELLO to Tinkerbell for me, I’m still waiting for a visit from her !
It’s not as clear or blue as the panhandle, but it’s pretty clear. Have fun. My favorite family vacation was just last summer. We started in San Francisco and drove down the Pacific Coast Highway to the Hearst Castle. I packed the trip with fun activities and the scenery was beautiful!
Loved Disney World each time we went. Loved the Brown Derby for a nice meal! Where are you staying? Hope it is on the monorail line (just a short walk to the monorail and into the station of your choice)…
Well, my honeymoon to LA was pretty awesome, and I’ve always loved going to Asheville, NC with my sister. My mom couldn’t handle vacations, so family vacations were usually mostly dealing with her griping.
My first vacation with my sister was amazing. We go to Asheville every couple years now. I’m hoping to go there with my husband for our anniversary.
