  • Abortion Doctor Killed

Abortion doctor George Tiller was shot and killed this morning at his church.  Here is the link:  Link

It is on the front page of almost all media sources.  I am sure we will see an endless supply of pro-choice people pointing out how pro-lifers are inconsistent and not really pro-life.  Pro-lifers will be forced to denounce the killing.

Let me see if I can get the numbers correct.

    Pro-life killings:  3

Pro-choice killings:  50 million and counting

Is it consistent to focus on the death of one and ignore the death of millions?

  • Is Adam Gay?

There has been much speculation in the news about whether Adam from American Idol is gay.  He won’t answer questions about his sexuality so that has added fuel to the flame.  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think Adam is gay?

  • Naked Rape Photos

President Obama is trying to block the release of photos of the rape and torture of Iraqi prisoners that had been abused by troops.

    prison.jpg

While President Obama was running for president, he said he would release the photos as part of a new openness in American government.   Here is the link:  Link

I just think he knew I would post them on xanga on Memorial Day and he didn’t want everyone to get offended.

There is a concern that the photos will cause troops around the world to be endangered.  President Obama is sounding more and more like the President Bush we all loved.

It is being reported that one photo ”showed an American soldier apparently raping a female prisoner and another was said to show a male translator raping a male detainee.”

Do you think we should release photos of Iraqi prisoners being raped?

Which post would you rather read?

    1.  Dan’s real position on gay marriage.

    2.  Dan’s real opinion of popular xanga bloggers.

  • The Silent Majority

The majority of Americans are against gay marriage.  57% of Americans are against gay marriage.  40% are in favor of it.  Here is the link:  Link

    gay marriage.jpg

Let that sink in for a second.  We read all kinds of blog where people are upset by the California Supreme Court ruling that let a ban on same sex marriage stand.  The reality is that in liberal California that the majority of people were against gay marriage.

For every 4 blogs you will read where someone is in favor of gay marriage, there are almost 6 bloggers that are silent.

It is called the silent majority.  The majority of Americans do not want gays to get married.

    Why?

I can only think of two reasons.  The first is that some believe it is not God’s plan and it is against the Bible.  The rest must just think it is “icky.”

I can’t think of any other reason why someone would care.  But time and time again when it is put to the voters, the voters say “No.”

Yet, it is difficult to find people that will express either thought process.  I don’t understand the whole civil union idea.  I have a hard time understanding why someone would be in favor of a civil union and yet against gay marriage.

So lets put it to a vote.

Are you in favor of allowing gays to be married?

  • Homosexuality is a Sin

I was so relieved to see that the California Supreme Court sided with the Bible on the issue of homosexuality.  Here is the link:  Link

The Bible tells us that being gay is a sin:

Lev. 18:22, “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.”

Lev. 20:13, “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them”

1 Cor. 6:9-10, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

I just hope we continue to follow God’s will as a nation.

  • Xanga and Censorship

I wrote a post yesterday about rape that received some attention.  It was a sarcastic post but it was pointing out that fact that more women were sexually assaulted in the military than killed by the enemy.  So I mentioned in a sarcastic tone we should honor those who were raped for us.

This caused a stir around xanga and even some anger.  But after the stir and anger, xanga decided to censor the post and took it off top blogs and the feed to the front page.  They did that by giving the post a community rating of “C.”  I mentioned it to a xanga team member and he could not change it meaning the decision was made at the highest level of xanga.

I expressed my concern about the censorship to the xanga team member but took the post down.  I posted another one instead.

My concern is that we have come to the place where we have emotional appeals running the censorship at xanga.  Some in the community were upset at the idea so xanga took the post down.

So I went to Top Blogs today and took a look at some of the posts that xanga is not censoring.  I noticed a post by an “ish” site.  This post includes a penis cake that has c** on the penis.  Here is the link:  Link

In other words, xanga decided to censor an idea but had no problem with a cake with a penis that had c** on it.

So I looked at another post on Top Blogs.  It was a post about X-rated sites.  The post lists 8 porn sites on the internet and gives clear links to those posts.  Here is that link:  Link

Both of these posts are currently on Top Blogs and probably won’t be removed.

The xanga team member asked me last night whether I would want a 13 year old reading my rape post.  I would think that a 13 year old could pick up on sarcasm and catch the larger point that it is odd that we honor those who have died in war while ignoring a larger problem such as rape in the military.

I am not sure why we protect porn but don’t protect ideas.

But do I want a 13 year old seeing the penis cake with the c** on it and the post with 8 links to porn?

  • Rape Awareness

A woman is more likely to get raped in the military than get killed by the enemy.

The Pentagon’s own numbers say that a woman has more to fear by being raped in the military than being killed in action.  As of July 24th of last year, 100 women had died in Iraq.  In 2007 alone, there were 2,212 report of military sexual assault.  Only 8 percent were referred to court martial.  In the civilian world, 40 percent of those arrested for sexual assault are prosecuted.  Here is the link:  Link

A woman has more reason to be concerned about rape in the military than she has reason to be concerned about dying in the military.  You should fear the issue that is the greatest threat to you personally.

The statistics show that it is more likely to be ignored in the military.

There were some that appeared more concerned about the troops and that it cast a negative light on them than they were about the rapes.

Does it cast all troops in a negative light to say that rape in the military is wrong?  No.

If we thank the troops for the sacrifice they made with their lives, I am not sure why we wouldn’t thank women for the sacrifice they made to be in the military.
