  • My Mom Is Better Than Your Mom

I am pretty sure I had the best parents ever.  I called my mom and I told her tonight that I could not think of one thing she ever did wrong as a parent.

She spent so much time with me when I was a child.  I remember when I was sick as a child and she would get on the floor and play cars with me.  She took care of me.
I told her that I always had the feeling of being completely loved as a child.  I never once entertained the idea of my parents not loving me.  I told my mom that I grew up with a confidence that I could be a garbage man and my parents would be proud of me.
I am so sad when I hear stories of people who had parents that fell short of the mark.    I am so humbled by the sacrifices that my parents made so I could have everything.  (My parents were pretty poor in the early years but it felt like they gave me everything).
But my mom is the best mom ever.  I feel so fortunate to be her son.

  • Student Loans

I see people getting an education and spending a ton of money that they are borrowing.  Here is the link:  Link

Some people are graduating with $100,000 or more in debt only to find themselves unemployed.
Is it wise to borrow money in order to get a college education?

  • The Meaning of Life

You will probably never accomplish your goals in life.

At one point or another, you will realize that most of your dreams will not come true.
Even if your dreams come true, you will find out that they do not match what you thought they would be when you got there.
Most of the friends you made during your life will not be there for you during your darkest hour.  When you die, very few people will be standing around you if any.
You will spend most of your life either working or sleeping.
One day you will get cancer or have a heart attack.  If you are lucky, you will die instantly.  But most of you will not be lucky.  You will die slowly.
All marriages end in divorce or death.  So even if you marry your "soulmate," he/she will potentially divorce you down the line.  If you stay married, one day you will wake up to a dead body laying next to you.  He or she will have left you alone.
If you are a mother and you are raising your children, they will leave you. They will have a family of their own.
You are unlikely to become rich.  But if you happen to become rich, you are still going to end up in a nursing home with someone else having to wipe your butt for you.  There will become a point when you can barely walk and you will not be able to avoid wearing an adult diaper.
In the nursing home, your kids will probably visit you once or twice a week.  So a complete stranger will be the person spending time with you.

  • Hotness Tournament

A group of guys from Issaquah High School have set up a website that allows their female classmates to be judged in a tournament of hotness.  Here is the link:  Link
The ladies are encouraged to "look their finest" at school so they get more votes.
If you were in a tournament of hotness against your friends, would you have a chance to win?

  • Hugging a Black Man

Charles Ramsey is a hero.  He is the guy that helped the three women who were kidnapped about ten years ago escape from their kidnappers the yesterday.

He said he knew something was wrong because one of the white girls jumped into his arms.  He said, "Bro.  I knew something was wrong when a little pretty white girl ran into a black man's arms.  Here is the link:  Link
    Be honest.
Have you ever hugged a black man?

  • Ok Cupid

I was listening to the radio on the way to work this morning and they were talking about questions they ask on Ok Cupid to help match couples together.

One question they talked about was the question "Is a woman obligated to shave her legs?"  The guys agreed that they didn't want to be matched up to a woman who answered "no" to that question even if it made them appear to be jerks.
Is a woman obligated to shave her legs?

  • Is College Worth It?

I was reading an article that was asking the question "Is college worth it?"  The subject of the article was college debt.  Here is the link:  Link

In my close group of friends that I had growing up, almost all of them received a grad degree or a doctorate degree.  Oddly, my closest friend who was the best man in my wedding didn't go to college at all and he is making as much money as the rest of us.

  • Internet Laughter

Some people use "lol."  Others say "bwahhahha." While others use a simple, "ha."

How do you express laughter on the Internet?

  • Man Haters of Xanga

Some women on xanga just hate men.  They think the worse of them.   I have read one lady's posts on xanga and she always describes men in a negative light.

She will write post about men lurking at her or tends to think every man is a potential rapist.  Based on her profile pic, I have a hard time thinking that men really give her that much thought.
But even other "normal" women appear to be at least skeptical of men.  They tend to view them as cheaters or unable to control their behavior.  In general, they approach men as if they are not worthy of trust.
    Can a man be trusted?
